Many clients have been known to hog the cpu while starting up.
Use taskmanager to set the affinity on Graincoin-qt.exe, so it uses only one cpu core.

infovortice2013, nothing constructive from you in your last 10 posts only hating. Leave this thread please : )
Truth hurt ? Please tell us what you find positive about a network that struggles to mint 100 blocks per day. What truth? We understood the position of infovortice2013 the first time, it is not needed to repeat 10+ times after that with nothing helpful in mind. No one has guaranteed anything to anyone, yes? Maybe your expectations were unrealistic? If bitcoin have a future, then 42Coin have a future. Just wait. Are you the new spokesperson for Hendo/42 ? Specifications: Scrypt 42 coins Max 42 second block time Difficulty re-target every 7 minutes

How does Grain's code look when you compare it to LKY, BUK, STR, MEM, COL, MPL ect ... ?? Orphans.. glitchy PoS/PoW .. .how many other similarities will be found ? UPDATE: Looks like this coin has also fallen victim to the negative target spacing problem that has plagued many other coins recently; however, this one seems to have failed much earlier. Last proof-of-work block was accepted around 8th October 2013. scrypt/proof-of-work mining would have stopped working at this time. I tried a short run of test mining and the behaviour is identical to the other coins such as ADT, CDC, ORB etc which have the same bug: miner finds a block, but the client quietly ignores it, never announcing it to the network. There is one strange difference I've noticed when compared to the other failed coins. My client appears to be minting proof-of-stake blocks that are of the same value (8+ Maples) as a proof-of-work block, but the network is reporting the expected smaller amounts of a proof-of-stake win (0.03 or lower) My client says I generated this block and was granted 8.03843900: { "account" : "", "category" : "generate", "amount" : 8.03843900, "confirmations" : 172, "generated" : true, "blockhash" : "da42cd01bd50a31fa62dc92f88193b8b4cdcc8120ff4db293659a755b257610e", "blockindex" : 1, "blocktime" : 1388184041, "txid" : "29eb59bd78293fd17fd0158d08593144ae25e6c664c26b9d82a2930e23c21ad7", "time" : 1388184041, "tx-comment" : "", "timereceived" : 1388184041 },
But viewing block da42cd01bd50a31fa62dc92f88193b8b4cdcc8120ff4db293659a755b257610e directly, says the network only minted 0.01440100, and that it's a proof-of- stake block: { "hash" : "da42cd01bd50a31fa62dc92f88193b8b4cdcc8120ff4db293659a755b257610e", "confirmations" : 172, "size" : 415, "height" : 46004, "version" : 4, "merkleroot" : "7638ccb3f2fa211653a77928d019f45c5a0555d1bfe3f66d64b507c9d8fef445", "mint" : 0.01440100, "time" : 1388184041, "nonce" : 0, "bits" : "1e00ffff", "difficulty" : 0.00390625, "previousblockhash" : "095fa298f1eace4692d139b1c48e9dd350b4a6711228b798bd596754e4c18ed2", "nextblockhash" : "9d3a5853df07ba76f20bdd821b110a34ecd8f135d27cf086cd985c62b1795388", "flags" : "proof-of-stake stake-modifier", "proofhash" : "000005537eec502ca34a408317da3ab33c263ee8b5f3aef755eb5e1968b143ce", "entropybit" : 0, "modifier" : "07c26fe21ffac077", "modifierchecksum" : "30498a3c", "tx" : [ "8d71db4788c75d7411b9c72a65db33d9291dd1384ec180a9a979db87e7dbf496", "29eb59bd78293fd17fd0158d08593144ae25e6c664c26b9d82a2930e23c21ad7" ], "signature" : "3046022100dd3507628db2f9175f39083ab1b2fb74f78988e097a97db5be0c3508a5be5a8602210 0e13af2a5cef9e1257ad5b7e7ed61f89b1b70fa5151e706e482131fbff1f981fa" }
So although Maples can't be directly mined right now, it looks like those who hold a balance and keep their client running may be still able to mint normal block amounts. (?!) My balance is increasing, and I was able to send the entire amount to another address (which I realise now I shouldn't have done - no more PoS for a while!), so it looks like those 8+ PoS numbers my client is reporting are real. I guess that leaves us in a weird elitist chicken and egg situation where you already need to have coins, in order to be able to generate new coins. Mind blown.

Tried to mine this coin, but got all rejects. What am I doing wrong? Is it because it is PoS and I have zero coins in the wallet? Where can I get coins then?
Yes, you can only mine Col by having coins in your wallet, best place it buy coins is on Cryptsy. I've asked multiple times in this thread if the PoS was working. Nobody responded. Finally got my wallet connected and started receiving my PoS coins. All unconfirmed though.
Fantastic community support. Stop being sooo negative. Trust the forum noobs else they will smite you ! Copy n paste coin see... copy n paste coin do. Graincoin has the same problem.
Wow, graincoin is way over valued. I think if you want to buy graincoin you should dump and buy back in a month. Same thing happens to every coin when it starts out, like a great darwinian test. Until graincoins forums pick up I can't see how it will continue higher, they've had 10 posts this month. I thought Col wasn't moving fast enough with 820 posts and 177 new members so far this month lol Stop trying to distract from the topic at hand. I mean.. keep avoiding the topic at hand. You're making it easier for people to see the truth.

If someone has a large amount of 42coin and is looking to invest it, here is a great opportunity. I am looking for one or two large 42coin holders to fund the bankroll of 42dice.com. Hendo and maco have been supporting this project for a while and it is now 100% complete. The house edge is 1% and the only thing needed for this to take off is an investor. If you are interested please get in contact with me. For everyone else 42dice.com will be officially released soon!
A 1% house edge is not very reassuring. The "element of ruin" calculations are beyond what I'm willing to do for a forum post, but my memory tells me that you need a LARGE pool to have a low chance of losing the houses "bankroll" with that low edge. I would fear even 2%. Near all dice casinos are doing 1% house edge. I stand firm in only doing 1% to give the user the best experience. Your calculations do not factor in social elements and other variables. However this is why I am looking for 2 or 3 investors, to greatly minimize risk. Just as a side note I have spoken with Hendo and maco and they are backing this project. Feel free to address me with any other concerns. I'm getting a page not found when I try to register.

I say, leave it off unless the forum is willing to waste even more server time by making it mandatory, for the person doing the ignoring, to provide a reference quote/post.

Hey guys! Sorry I forgot I posted this. My foodbank got a nice donation this year from another source, so my lodge was doing a nice thing where we bought toys for kids in the hospital on christmas. I believe I was able to buy about 25 WebKinz toys. I took a picture of both batches I got, I have a new computer so I have to go through the old ones harddrive and find the photos. As soon as I do I will post them here. I might even be able to find a newspaper clipping as it is in the local paper every year. After looking though it, I found a photo of the first batch - https://i.imgur.com/rR9OT2X.jpg I will look for a photo of the second batch here. Thanks for the support I got guys. The kid's were super excited to get the toys. It was all kinds of kids that got them, ones there longer term and ones that just had to come in and spend christmas in the hopsital. I love when stuff like this works out. Thanks again guys. Forgot ? lolz GTFO How much of what coin(s) were donated to the addys you provided ? Since when does ANY foodbank EVER have enough food ? How did you learn about this very generous source ? Considering how often I've seen/heard you talk out both ends, I going to have to call you out on it and ask for undeniable proof. Please post the first pic and the others (when you find them) along with the store's receipt. I am also requesting that you use TechPowerUp's free image hosting as they do not erase the photo's EXIF data. http://www.techpowerup.org/upload.php
