“Refugees” Given Priority at Hospitals, Free Train Tickets, Free Museum Visits

An admission by Austrian health officials that asylum seekers have been given priority for hospital visits has been greeted by angry reaction.

The reason is that many asylum seekers need expensive translators to help communicate with doctors, and officials do not want to pay for the translators to sit around waiting.

The problem was highlighted last week when large numbers of people turned up at hospitals because of a flu epidemic, and had to wait to see doctors whilst asylum seekers were given priority treatment.

As part of the asylum process, refugees get a health check. With 90,000 asylum seekers registered last year, this has put a huge strain on health resources.

Austrian officials have confirmed that they have been ordered not to make asylum seekers wait and to give them fast track treatment.

"Priority is being given to asylum seekers because of the issue with translators," said Ralph Luger, from the KAV (Krankenanstaltenverbundes) health board in Vienna which runs more than a dozen hospitals in the capital.

Martin Gantner from the charity Caritas said that it meant asylum seekers were given priority in the same way that prisoners or people with disabilities are also be prioritised.

He added that although many refugees were given a social insurance card, most of them failed to take it with them when they visited doctors or hospitals, and the language barrier meant it caused further delays in already overstretched hospitals.

Austrian Doctors’ Association spokeswoman Sarah Schernthaner said: "Without the card we don't know if the person is just passing through or if they are seeking asylum in Austria, and there is no chance of the costs being refunded without the card."

The extra stress has considerably changed the attitude of Austrian medics. In September last year close to 500 doctors offered their services for asylum seekers. Since then, however, the number has shrunk to between 150 and 200.

Germany - Muslim Students Turn Common Room Into Mosque, Demand Women Veil And Segregate

Muslim students at a German university have seized control of a “silent room” designed as a space for all pupils, transforming it into a makeshift mosque and erecting a wall to segregate genders. There are also feet washing facilities and signs instructing women to wear the veil and to not wear perfume.

After a series of complaints the room at the Technical University of Dortmund was closed, but 400 angry students quickly signed a petition demanding it be reopened and alleging anti-Muslim prejudice.

Last Wednesday, the university replied in an open letter addressed to Muslim student leaders, explaining that the institution is strictly secular and gender segregation is illegal in German public institutions.

“Female visitors of the room were repeatedly intercepted at the entrance by Muslim male users and told that they only had access to a small, more confined space, compared to the larger part reserved for men”, the letter reads.

The room started out as an open space with two sofas, a few bookshelves, and a calming forest mural to help stressed students unwind. “The space of silence is to be kept ideologically and religiously neutral. Religious symbols, characters or the like must not be placed,” the rules for the room stipulate.

Eva Prost, Head of Corporate Communications and a spokesman for the university, told Uni Spiegel that there have been demands from Muslim students to turn the room in to an exclusively Islamic space ever since it was set up in 2012, but the university leadership has repeatedly resisted.

“There was never a prayer room for either Muslim or Christian students. Our ‘room of silence’ was rather an offer to those who seek peace in often stressful university life”, she said.

However, four years on and the room was “arbitrarily altered” without warning. “An improvised wall has been erected to separate men and women. The Quran was displayed, there were ways for foot washing, and prayer rugs were stored in here”, Ms. Prost explained.

More shockingly, “on flyers women were instructed to wear headscarves, even if we do not know whether that was actually enforced”, she said.

Asserting: “All this we can not accept. Students have complained to us, and quite rightly so. Elimination of gender discrimination we must protect, because as a State institution, we are committed to the Basic Law”.

She said that such controversies are “not normally debated so hotly” in Germany. “If the same thing happened two months ago, before the New Year’s events at the Cologne Cathedral Square, the public attention would certainly be lower”, she said.

Donald Trump loves winning, and he won just about every group in New Hampshire

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump addresses ecstatic supporters following his win in the New Hampshire primary. (Reuters)

Donald Trump's second-place finish in Iowa disappointed no one in the country more than Donald Trump. But that was Ted Cruz territory through-and-through: Lots of conservatives, lots of evangelicals and Trump got outplayed in a state where that matters.

New Hampshire is very different. It's a state with more independents, fewer conservatives and fewer evangelicals. (In Iowa, nearly two-thirds of Republicans identified that way, compared to a quarter in New Hampshire, according to preliminary exit polling reported by CNN.) So that meant that Trump could do poorly with conservatives and still triumph. And so he did, winning despite ... winning only a third of the "very conservative" vote. Among evangelical voters, Trump and Cruz were basically tied.

This was the scale of Trump's win. Trump won men, women, every age group, every ideology, people who had and people had not gone to college, and every single age bracket. And he won those groups by huge margins. Men, 3-to-1 over the second-place finisher. Women, 2-to-1. Voters under 30, 2-to-1. Nearly 4-in-10 of those who hadn't attended college -- but also a third of those who had.

Godzilla Trump, stomping his way across the state. How dominant was Trump? He tied John Kasich for the most support among people who think undocumented immigrants should receive amnesty. Given Trump's hard-line immigration stances, that's basically like saying that Donald Trump won voters who identify as not wanting to Make America Great Again. But they asked about that, too. Among voters who think that the next generation will be better off than today, the generation that will live through Trump's great America, he won 4 in 10 votes.

I seen the debate a couple days ago, and donald just did horrible.

Yet he wins the other states, like wtf? My vote is neither, but I have a feeling that donald will win based on letting america know they need a "dealer".

Announcing the Twitter Trust & Safety Council

On Twitter, every voice has the power to shape the world. We see this power every day, from activists who use Twitter to mobilize citizens to content creators who use Twitter to shape opinion.

To ensure people can continue to express themselves freely and safely on Twitter, we must provide more tools and policies. With hundreds of millions of Tweets sent per day, the volume of content on Twitter is massive, which makes it extraordinarily complex to strike the right balance between fighting abuse and speaking truth to power. It requires a multi-layered approach where each of our 320 million users has a part to play, as do the community of experts working for safety and free expression.

That’s why we are announcing the formation of the Twitter Trust & Safety Council, a new and foundational part of our strategy to ensure that people feel safe expressing themselves on Twitter

[...]

We have more than 40 organizations and experts from 13 regions joining as inaugural members of the Council. We are thrilled to work with these organizations to ensure that we are enabling everyone, everywhere to express themselves with confidence on Twitter.

Indonesian Clerics Issue Fatwa Banning LGBT Advocacy Groups…

Following the recent controversy over LGBT groups on university campuses, an ulema group has paved the way for banning all activities that advocate freedom of sexual orientation.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has confirmed that it is currently preparing a fatwa, or a non-legally binding edict, that will recommend the prosecution of Muslims who join in LGBT-related activities.

MUI chairman Ma’ruf Amin told The Jakarta Post the government-sanctioned body was preparing the fatwa and was soon to announce it.

Ma’ruf said that as the MUI had earlier issued a fatwa declaring LGBT communities “religiously, culturally and morally deviant”, through this fatwa it was looking to ban Muslims from joining any groups promoting LGBT rights in Indonesia, a country with a majority Muslim population.

“We want Muslims to be cautious of LGBT [activities]. This is not about LGBT people, but more to do with their movements. There is a lot that is deviant about it,” Ma’ruf said recently, adding that the fatwa was an effective way of reminding Muslims about the “danger” of LGBT movements, which he noted had increased in recent years in Indonesia.

Ma’ruf said that the fatwa would also seek a ban on LGBT groups in Indonesia.

LGBT activities on campus came into the spotlight recently when conservative media coverage attacked the Support Group and Resource Center on Sexuality Studies (SGRC) at the University of Indonesia (UI), triggering hostile remarks from public officials including Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Muhammad Nasir and Education and Culture Minister Anies Baswedan.

The hostility was exacerbated by a tough stance against LGBT rights from the country’s largest Islamic organization, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) — known for its moderate stance on minority issues — as well as from the traditionally inclusive National Awakening Party (PKB).

If you´re wondering why you´ve been seeing less of those tin foil hat lines lately over the net it´s because one by one the morons that have been using that have been realizing that they have become a small minority.

The only way for the warmists to win 'their scientific argument' will be by force, banning and insults, not by reason.

Journalist 'groped' in front of live camera in Cologne

Esmeralda Labye. Screen shot: RTBF

A Belgian journalist has said she was groped while on live television at the Cologne Karneval.

“At first they were just making faces behind me. Then a hand landed on my breast. I was was shocked,” said RTBF journalist Esmeralda Labye, describing the incident that took place in the Alter Markt district of town.

The chances of the two men being caught are high - the whole incident was caught on camera. Police are now investigating the case.

A section of the video seen by The Local shows a man of European appearance making lewd gestures behind the reporter. The full video is no longer available online.

"My piece to camera was chaotic, people showing middle fingers, a man who was having fun miming a sex act behind me and above all the hand placed on my breast," Labye said when reporting live in a later news bulletin.

At time of writing, authorities had not released any information about the identity of the men.

The city of Cologne has apologized to Labye.

i think we are getting nearer to the core of the discussion.

is the german government protecting rapist?

for me there is no indication of that happening.
we have a lot of refugees and there are for sure criminals between them (statistics, law of great numbers) but that doesnt mean that every single one of them is a criminal.
criminals should be deported asap no questions - and there are already existing laws for it which got even tightened in the light of nye.

What would be the threshold of rape cases and sexual assaults you think should be intolerable for the german people, before triggering a massive movement toward a better control of the unknown by your politicians? 500 (done)? 1000? 5000?

The thing is, the next massive sexual assault will not be televised, nor be on social networks, thanks to this new censorship push by merkel.

There will be silence... In that case, I will agree with you regarding WW2 and its silence.

People knew, but kept their mouth shut.

We certainly do not want a repeat of history, do we?

i would say your fear mongering is borderline of paranoid delusions.

i just can repeat that criminals get deported and refugees are refugees.

You are giving me too much power. I am not the entire crew of the BBC, nor RT, nor RTBF. You are free not to believe what they are reporting, while your sisters are getting assaulted.

*edit

i just rechecked the numbers and you are correct. my last information was outdated (police changed the number upwards).

here is a interview with the police commander/chief of cologne.

http://www.focus.de/regional/videos/zwiespaeltige-bilanz-begrapschte-moderatorin-und-versuchte-vergewaltigung-polizeichef-spricht-ueber-neuste-erkenntnisse_id_5263956.html

sexcrimes went up to 22 (2 of them grave) from last years 10, less pocket-picking (down to 15% of last years carnival) and acts of violence.
interesting is that woman are now also filing complains about rather small things, the example given:

a doorman asking a woman for a kiss or 25€ to get in the club.

explanation of it are probaly the happenings on nye.

Just to let you know I rarely check back on edited posts. I remember yours because of its previous shorter length. It would be better just to post a follow up of I could be missing it, not in purpose.
