Been doing a bit of work, first unofficial wallet will be ready for a pull request into upstream tomorrow and we'll have an official updated wallet soon after.  No, it isn't PoS (yet) but I'm sure you'll all see it as very important nonetheless!

Glad to see the subreddit as well.  Subscribed.

Absolutely.  Also,  have built the 64-bit Linux QT wallet on arch.  Source changes are minimal and are available at the unofficial github. Currently compiling the slightly renamed litecoindarkd for 64-bit arch as well.  Will post binaries here with checksums / PGP (GPG) signatures shortly.

I can also provide PKGBUILD for the AUR soon.

And you don't have rights to promote another coin in this thread, i didn't expect that BTCD community would sink that low, but after i saw the IPO i know everything can happen

When money is involved, some people will stoop to incredible lows.  When there is a degree of anonymity, some people will stoop to deeper ones.  However, the crypto community as a whole is somewhat built around the open source community as well, and instead of spending our efforts dragging each other down, let's collaborate and build something real that can hold its own in the global market.

Side note: unofficial Linux QT wallet is currently building.  No feature changes yet, so I wonder if that bounty is still available...  Will push changes to github when/if I post the binaries.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LitecoinDark (LTCD) | Scrypt | Looking for more Exchanges! on: September 04, 2014, 06:56:42 AM
I'm extremely interested in this coin and would love to see the OP do a PoD.  With that said, the coin is most definitely open source, and for its age has a fairly impressive hash rate.  I would be really interested in contributing to this coins' development.  With a name like LitecoinDark and the attention/hashrate that was gathered so early, it might be nice to see how this coin does if it gathers some real open source community support.

I'll be maintaining my own fork of this codebase on github and implementing and testing new features to possibly have the OP merge into the original tree.  Will post links when I have things set up.  If any real interest gathers behind my efforts, I'll gladly do a PoD myself regarding my own fork.

EDIT: Fork is online at https://github.com/TrollByFire/LitecoinDark-Unofficial.  Nothing has been done yet.  If anyone has any suggestions for potential features, feel free to let me know, and I would love to hear the OPs opinion on this as well.

271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Combining of Capabilities for Alt Coin on: June 12, 2013, 01:38:23 PM
This is precisely the goal of TestCoin.  To ensure that the coin isn't misused as a pump and dump currency I released it as testnet-only to give us a place to integrate some of the better features of the more popular alts and mine it without having the responsibility of maintaining a "production" blockchain.
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] TestCoin (TSC) - Testnet ONLY alt-coin, not for production use on: June 12, 2013, 01:12:51 PM
Why not just use the Bitcoin Testnet? What are you trying to test?

Using the bitcoin testnet would prevent me from making changes to the way the blockchain is handled due to inability to reset and restart generation from a new genesis block after a major change is made.

What is a testnet coin? Sorry, i am new to this.

A testnet coin is simply an altcoin which does not have a proper main network genesis block, but does include a genesis block for the testnet.  There is no reason to generate a genesis block and start an "official" blockchain on a coin used simply to test new ideas.  I don't wish to create another pump and dump coin to hit exchanges and dump my coins.  I realize this gives miners with profit-based agendas no motivation to mine this coin, but the intention is for this coin to be used for development purposes, and never as a real currency.

Dropbox-hosted mirror updated in OP.

crashes ...get busy

Do you have any more information?  It runs fine on my machine.  Crashes are likely due to some issue with dependencies as it was cross-compiled from my linux installation.

Sources: https://github.com/TrollByFire/TestCoin (slightly out of date for QT build, will work file for testcoind.)

This is a bit concerning.. red flag sorta.. says to me there could be something in the QT build which cannot be found in source code..... which could be anything really?

I understand your concerns, and would be a bit skeptical myself.  I forgot to do a proper git push after building the windows binaries before rebooting to test them.  I will resolve this once I boot back into my linux installation. ([EDIT:] Done). In the meantime, you can run the coin in a sandbox or on a virtual machine.  For that matter, you could compile the daemon yourself from the sources on github and use that.  I am only interested in getting a few KH/s going on this (in addition to my own) to ensure everything is working properly before I commit major changes to the code (Removal of dependencies, fix build on visual studio, etc.)

For now the uncommitted changes are essentially changes to the makefiles to match my build setup for windows. ([EDIT:] Changes are committed and everything updated has been reflected in the OP.)

Thank you for the feedback.  I didn't want to release a full-fledged fork altcoin without some kind of innovation.  Truthfully, I'd like for my eventual currency to be a new beast entirely, as opposed to a fork of the same codebase.  I hope that using testnet-only alts will be a good way to improve on the current state of things without flooding the market with yet another clone.

Off-topic: Your project (eMunie) has gotten my attention and seems to have a lot of the same goals that I have.

I'm currently working on a new framework for developing my new altcoin, and it is in the earliest stages.  In the meantime, I've been experimenting with the base code from shakezula's "foocoin" to learn the basics of how the current codebase works.  I take no credit for the code involved, as this is pretty much a copy-paste coin until I can work in some of the nice additions I have planned.

This coin is testnet-only and should not be used as an actual cryptocurrency!

If you're interested in giving it a spin, throw a few KH/s at it.  50 coins per block, halved approx every 4 years.  1 minute block times, 15 minute difficulty adjustment (working on integrating some of terracoin's "difficulty-attack" prevention code, but it isn't there yet)

If you are looking for a coin to mine at low difficulty and dump on an exchange, this coin is not for you.  If you are creating services such as a marketplace, exchange, casino, or otherwise, you can probably get by using the Bitcoin testnet, but you're welcome to give this coin a try.  For the most part this coin is for other developers who wish to help improve the state of cryptocurrency by writing bug reports, contributing patches, and by extension creating the next wave of innovation to add to our already diverse crypto economy.  Think of it as a testbed for any major change to Bitcoin/Litecoin that exceeds the capabilities of mining on an established testnet.

Edit: Seems this would have been better suited to the "Project Development" forum.  My apologies.  Could a moderator move this for me?

Hi, all.  Until recently I had been discouraged about mining Litecoin on P2Pool servers.  As I'm sure you all know, tiny transactions like the p2pool payouts tend to carry high transaction fees due to Litecoin's "anti-spam" mechanism.  After a bit of searching, I stumbled onto the official litecoin forums where I found several posts addressing the ridiculous fees, as well as one coder who developed an application to help simplify the process of reducing those transaction fees.  I studied the sources to his app, but was unhappy with his implementation.  His app also had a hardcoded "developer donation" which could not be changed or disabled, and simply sent with each transaction.  As a developer, I felt that I needed to improve upon his design if possible.

This is the end result:

As I posted before, I realize that I have not yet built up a reputation in this community, so I fully expect everyone to be cautious about this release.  Sources will be released alongside the compiled exe, which you are free to run in a sandbox and/or virtual machine.  The app is coded in C# so you can inspect the compiled binaries with dotPeek or similar app to ensure that nothing fishy is going on.

Sample Transaction: http://explorer.litecoin.net/tx/ca5dfd0b7f63dd19e0d649ef846e80be032faa212ab7921e5e5163026afd425b

Litecoin Roller is scheduled to be released later today, however, it may take me a short while to ensure the last of the major bugs are fixed.  With the release I will provide detailed instructions and screenshots on how to use the app.  Also, once the release is finalized, I'll be posting a link to this thread on /r/litecoin.

I hope this application can be of some use to you, and if it is, feel free to donate using either the addresses in my signature or the donation feature built into the app itself.

Thank you.
