261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 12, 2014, 12:20:54 AM
Who is willing to write a press release for us regarding Automated Transactions/Smart Contracts?  Happy to discuss them with you, vbcs would definitely a good person to talk to, probably better than me.

I can maybe find time but I'm running around trying to get other stuff done and would prefer to spend my time testing and debugging ATs if someone else can do the writing.

Some specifications and more data on ATs here for anyone who is interested: http://ciyam.org/at/at.html

Hopefully you aren't in it just for the money but I'll throw in a 20k Burst bounty for the article.. which will be worth a lot once we publish this article. Smiley

I think Einsteium or whatever his name is.. said he'd be happy to help make sure we get stuff published.

I could possibly do something like this tomorrow, but I would need to do a bit more research on ATs. Anyone with more information and explanation on exactly how it works, feel free to PM me and I'll take a look, then I can compile and write and article.

I write very well, and type about 96 WPM, so I could be a nice person for this project.

I would also not take the bounty from you. Wink

Excellent!  Thanks crowetic, I will PM with the information I know and probably you and vbcs should talk.. I'll send along his contact info as well.

Thanks!!

Wow that sounds really exiting!  Cool
That could become a nifty feature for burst and perhaps enable an integrated exchange in the wallet?

Yup.. using the Smart Contracts Counterparty is working on (though having issues with.. may be a little bit until they are up and running) we could directly trade btc and burst within the wallet, which I think is pretty awesome.  There are a few interesting things enabled by these.

Thanks for your hard work vbecas! I'll send a donation your way too.. did you post a wallet address somewhere we can send those to?

Also, who around here can write up a press release for automated transactions that we can release once they are actually running on the mainnet?
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 10, 2014, 02:19:22 AM
I happened to get the guys who wrote Automated Transactions (aka Smart Contracts) for Nxt to agree to integrate them into Burst.  Nxt has delayed integration and Nxt is probably not going to be ready to add them for a while.

Check with burstdev about his schedule regarding rebase past 1.3.1. There have been some drastic changes in 1.3.2 onwards making merges non-trivial. AT are planned for NXT 1.4/1.5. Personally, I'm not sold on the idea of funding NXT dev when burst is not in hurry to follow bleeding edge nxt (which is imo a good idea).

And there is also this stigma of assorted drama wrt paid dev in NXT (look up 'automated transactions bluemeanie jl777' in google - all very amusing, not sure some people would want to be associated with that).

You're saying that you would prefer that we don't integrate in ATs until after Nxt has them?  If we don't take risks and try to get our name known then we are always a Nxt clone.

Addressing the point regarding getting the developer on board, burstcoin is all for with integrating in ATs.

Also yes bluemeanie and the way that was handled was bad.. by that was a totally different developer.. why does that apply here?

Thanks for your effort but a negative rating from Gmaxwell ?
If you don't mind I would have Nevril as the one who manages the fund.

Just my 2 BURST.

Regards,

Aizen

Fine by me, but what happened with Gmaxwell, was that I mentioned that I was working on a method that would allow instant transactions and was considering patenting it.. he instantly dinged me because he hates patents and thought that I was patenting it so I could later patent troll instead of trying to protect the method I spent half a year figuring out and started working on.  Read his comment associated with the ding.. it's because he thought I was trying to patent something, he believes patents are a bad thing, and wanted people to later be able to contact him and fight the patent.

Not a fan of that guy.. just in general try arguing that Proof of Stake is reasonable with him and he gets pretty hostile.

However, the Automated Transaction developer is asking for funding and I would really like to make sure that he gets paid a reasonable amount for his many months of work. It's in our best interest as well to make sure he's invested into Burst since he's a good developer and we need more of them.  I'm chipping in 250k Burst myself.  Anyone else mind chipping in some donations?

I'd like to get him at least a million, maybe two million Burst.

Additionally, could someone write up a press release for these?

If mmmaybe is more trusted than me, seeing as how I'm new to the community, he could escrow for this instead.  Or we can use the built in escrow tool.  Just let me know if you want anything like this.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

at http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/burst/#markets
we are at pos 81 of all Cryptos.

But only because the available supply is wrong and is not up to date.

Perhaps a few of us write a Mail via form at the bottom of the page to bring us a litte more up.

With correct supply we would be at place 73.

Good idea.. didn't realize we were off, who has been corresponding with coinmarketcap?
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 08, 2014, 08:21:02 PM
Something I've been doing is to just try to find some people every day to reach out to and try to get on-board, particularly java developers in the crypto field.  If we want this coin to be a long term success, I think that maybe 5 developers would be ideal.. at least two or three though.

I've tended to notice a little bit of extra volume everyday after I tend to send out a blast of emails.. so I think people are interested.

Point being though, this coin is about to explode.  If anyone can reach out to developers and try to get them on-board while we're small, it would be ideal in my opinion to have a few well invested into it.  I'd ask that others also try to do the same.

Developers, business people, marketers, etc.
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 07, 2014, 11:17:58 PM
You know, people are worried that data centers might start mining and using their extra space to mine and do all the mining.. but if you get a few big guys deciding to use their extra space that isn't being used to store data to mine instead, that would be awesome from a decentralization point of view.  Point being, I actually see that as being a good thing.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 07, 2014, 10:51:51 PM
strange that still no clone have popped up for this, still one of its kind

The situation it is strange. Diff rise=people are investing in burst
But price stile low = big whales are accumulating burst???

I do not know... But it is strange.

Mining went from 6,000 to 10,000 = 66% increase

Price went from 75 sats to 120 sats = 60%

Seems reasonable to me..  just a delay because it takes time to plot the drive.
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 07, 2014, 10:11:42 PM
Difficulty is 3 times higher and price is still in the dumps  Sad mining is no longer profitable SOL.

Not profitable yet... but easier than buying off of exchanges.. and the people mining know it will be.

And worst case, miners decide to drop off the network since it's not profitable and suddenly it is again... what's amazing is that they are holding on to the coins and price is keeping steady, looks like they are in it for the long run!

This coin is still small and I suspect many haven't really looked into this coin closely.. give it a few months and after we bubble up to be a top 5 cryptocurrency, then we'll stay seeing clones.

People I'm afraid that BURST was raped by botnet now  Angry
I simply can't find any better explanation for the huge diff increase last week. BURST botnet is much  more difficult to detect than CPU/GPU botnet.
That pretty sucks.  Cry

if so, i think this is also not bad. This shows me, that the someone is betting in the future of this coin, that the price will rise. Why such an effort to let a botnet mine a coin, that could not be sold, because none of the exchange has a usefull volume....

there are so much other ways to make more and instant profit with a botnet, as mine this coin.....

Seriously ? Effort ? It's an effort to make money, the maker doesn't care. He will dump his coin as long as he gets his hand to it. Your logic doesn't sound right to me.

Why do you guys think botnet?  What indicates that this is a botnet?  Do you have wallet addresses that you believe this bot net is mining into?

And this botnet is still using plotted hard drives to mine for Burst?

i had'nt to read any further than page one last paragraph.
decentralized cloud storage is what sounds great but includes several flaws of the main idea in terms of service costs.
like point 4 states you can choose the redundancy when putting a file onto the cloud (this i also suggested in the burst storage discussion).
working with 4 copies as default is far too less to protect your files  against loss.
adding 500 copies, which is stated to be armageddon resistant, drives the costs higher than professional hosting costs.

I agree that 4 copies is too few to be certain.. you set up enough simultaneous miners and get all 4 copies of a product and you can blackmail people to retrieve their data but personally I'd feel comfortable with 10 copies for average use.. I mean look at torrents, how often does a torrent fall apart?

And it's true that 500 copies is more expensive than professional hosting but I would believe that it truly is more secure, and less likely to be lost, lots of redundancy.  In fact if you build some version control in (depending upon the use), so it's 100 copies of 5 different versions,

Additionally, if it's encrypted, you don't trust anyone else with your data.

That being said, I bought some Maidsafe a while back, not much but a little bit.. given the recent spike, I may sell it off.  It is a complicated idea and less likely to come through than Burst, for example.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 06, 2014, 10:47:13 PM

Compared to maid and storj (which are just pumped IPOs at this moment, non-mineable and with no utility), BURST makes no promises this will be at all possible. Proof of Being Reliable Storage And Not Just Someone Faking It is very, very difficult to do in reliable fashion. So far, all proposals to do this in decentralized fashion are technobabble than anything sound.

Isn't Maidsafe already doing this?  I understood that they already had something working, right?
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 06, 2014, 10:45:34 PM
Everyone is arguing about the botnet.. have you noticed how bullish the order books have been looking though?  Particularly on Poloniex.

Solid floors of people buying with only a trickle of people selling.. of course the 1% inflation per day plays a part but even in spite of that we're saying pretty steady.. and in fact steadily increasing in price.  A couple weeks ago you could buy under 110, last week 120, now it seems you can barely buy under 130 satoshis.

My point though is that if buyers are this bullish, I'm sure miners also are bullish and stocking up.  I suspect we're seeing real growth, not a botnet.  Wish the burstcoin.eu statistics were more accurate, would require them having a larger percentage of the mining power though I guess.. so the higher it gets, the more unreliable the statistics will get Sad   Maybe others can chip in data to burstcoin.eu?   Have a few of the big miners tell them how much hard drive space they are contributing to the network to improve that statistic?

And how much advertising and marketing effort have we really been making?  Personally, I have been reaching out to people, specifically Nxt developers and litecoin developers, trying to get them on board while the price is low.  I would highly recommend others do the same.  I've gotten a little bit of interest, nobody who was extremely excited but some interest and I imagine investment.

Give this coin 2 to 4 months.. and I expect that we'll see a bubble and that 0.5 cents is not unreasonable, probably even low.  Consider that this is a coin (as well as a 'token'), yet Nxt has been marketing itself as solely a token.. which automatically makes it less valuable.  This coin could easily be a top 5 coin if a couple key things go right.  Personally, for me that means re-working the plotting and mining, which is a hassle but some key things could be done to improve ASIC resistance long term as well as improving the verification of blocks (by about a factor of 600 million), which allows reduced block times.. down to about a minute.  Have bounced these ideas around with burstcoin.

We also need some people to hoard this coin, and then later when the price increases invest it back into development and marketing of the coin.  I'm doing my part there.  This coin will only be successful if we have some big holders who intend to put their money back into growing the coin. If the coin is too well distributed, then no one has enough vested interest and money to later spend on growing their investment.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Burst.Today v1.6 released! (Windows UI for Burst mining) on: December 04, 2014, 08:57:47 AM
I have just published Burst.Today version 1.6, and its looking very promising. I have resolved the main issues with setting the reward recipient, and added several features for debugging. This new version points to the updated burstforms pool (burst.ga:8124) , which has been through many changes since I worked on this last.

Unfortunately, I have not had the time to test it out fully, I'm sure there are a few bugs left to chase down. I could really use some feedback on it, if any of you brave souls would be willing to give it a try and give me your thoughts I would be thankful!

Awesome!!

This is exactly the kind of thing we need more of.. not brave enough to risk trying it out myself and risk it overwriting something until it is well established though.

And just in general.. not a fan of closed source when it comes to crypto stuff because I'm worried it might try to steal my passwords.  Maybe I'm paranoid though.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.5 on: December 02, 2014, 08:12:48 PM
I suspect difficulty increase is simply because that new mining farm finished plotting their drives.. they probably plotted their drives to mine for them, then are re-plotting when someone rents out hard drive space.  Considering they need to be prepared for multiple people to rent 80+TB, then need to have a bunch of drives reserved.

Also, I suspect it correlates with the last bubble.. some people decided to rush in and buy, others decided to plot their hard drives, which took a couple of weeks.
