I'm sure more blackhat/ illegal activities will do wonders for public perception and send prices to DA MOON.

*insert next _bitcoin_is_crushing_because_of____________  conspiracy theory here*

I know a lot of you like to live in sheer denial, but trying to rationalize a market bubble is quite hilarious.
263  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just dumped all my BTC :( on: January 14, 2015, 03:17:42 AM

Very few people are winning in Bitcoins right now, since there is no demand for Bitcoin, the only thing it has is its tradable value and since you have more sellers than buyers, the price declines, the problem is you guys and your FHP (false hope posts) are contradicting to what is really happening. If all these people were buying the coins as fast as people were dumping them the price would never move, but the honest truth, it has done nothing but decline the past 7 months. DECLINE DECLINE DECLINE, which tells the true story that all you idiots telling everyone "thanks for the cheap coins" and " yes sell your coins so i can buy them cheap"  and "Way to go dont let the door hit your ass on the way out Ill buy all your coins" You guys are all talk and no proof, These members rarely have a bitcoin address listed so you can see the proof of thier lies, they have no websites, they have nothing contributing to Bitcoin except the normal pump scam and false hope posts. and the market tells a different story than them. Ill believe the market not the morons posting this crap.

Don't anger the shills.

It's only TO DA MOON! And THANKS FOR DA CHEAP COINZ OMG HEHEH AWESOME!! in their world.

I come from the precious metals market myself, so I know this mentality all too well.  Silver bugs --> Bitcoin Bugs.  They'll shill til the sun don't shine.
264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price - FBI sales on: January 14, 2015, 03:13:46 AM
It's a classic market bubble cycle.  No more, no less.
265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Call me crazy on: January 14, 2015, 03:05:50 AM
But Bitcoin seems to hold the same damn P2P utility at $200 as it did at $1000 or $3.

What crash?

Well.  Since price of bitcoin means nothing to you, mind sending me a few for free so I can add to this p2p utility?

This totally doesn't come off as a desperate attempt to save face and convince others to HODL instead of sending the market crashing any more. Smiley
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht faces a potential life sentence starting tomorrow. on: January 14, 2015, 12:30:18 AM
They caught this dude red handed at a library with his computer admin panel still up.  Lol.  He's toast.

You can get 25 years for serving a couple pounds of cocaine.  Running a billion+ dollar cp/drug society = he won't be seeing daylight for most likely the majority of his adult life.

His only, and I mean only hope to escape a life sentence is if they offer him some kind of plea deal where he works with the fbi to crack down against illicit btc operations.   Which, I could actually see happening.
I don't see the government offering any kind of plea deal in exchange for corporation to help take down others. The reason those kinds of plea deals are made is to try to convict "bigger fish" however the operator of Silk Road1 is pretty much the biggest fish in the online illegal drug world.

I would say his chances of being found not guilty would lie on the chances that evidence will be thrown out because it was obtained illegally

That's a good point.  They may just throw the book at him in order to set a precedence and try and cast a public black eye on the currency.  We all know how the US government generally feels about cryptos right now..
267  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just dumped all my BTC :( on: January 14, 2015, 12:27:39 AM
LOL at all the old timers here.....

BTC is most likely going below $100. Why buy his coins today when you can buy his friends coins at $100 in a few weeks.

 Wink

Why do you think it is going to dip to below $100? I think it will stabilize around $200.

And what makes you come to the conclusion of $200?

It has just enough chance to head to $50 as it does to $150 at this point.  This is purely a speculation game.  But no big positive news about bitcoin means no influx of new money from 'new' arbitrary investors (no, I'm not talking about start up companies, but the regular joe schmoe on the street).
268  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just dumped all my BTC :( on: January 14, 2015, 12:23:35 AM

THIS.

to anyone else thinking of selling at this price:
Every time someone sells their coins, then that means some one else bought them at that price.
before you sell them, always think: who is buying at this price? are they buying at a low in order to sell at a high or am i selling at a low? do i really think btc price is going to 100, 50 or 1? what has changed since i decided to buy in at the price i did? what will be needed to change to get the price back above my buy in price? can it happen? can i afford to hold until it does? are bitcoins tulips 2.0, or something more?
the market allows winners to take from losers. in order for them to do that, winners buy low (from ppl selling low) and sell high (from people buying high). once this has really sunk in, you think about your trading very differently... really! (its so so simple its actually hard)
/arrogant rant over

Almost but:

etc etc Smiley

Don't try and counter the shiller.

Obviously, he's like a super duper smart market investor.  I mean, after all, why on earth did he buy at the price he did if he knew the price was going to plummet like this, and could have had 2-5x more coins for the same price?

lol.  Arrogance is bliss.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: January 13, 2015, 11:57:56 PM

The question is are we even in the despair phase yet?  Seems like a few panic sellers are coming out, but I don't even think the worst has yet to come.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jessecolombo/2013/12/19/bitcoin-may-be-following-this-classic-bubble-stages-chart/

But I guess Forbes are just a buncha h8rs yo!!!! I mean, what would a professional economist/technical analyst know about market trends?!?!?

The bubble has been quite apparent for the past few months.  And, barring any POSITIVE giant news for BTC, there is nothing
but selling pressure and nothing to lure in new purchasers/investors, as it makes zero sense to be buying now unless you're a firm believer and in it for the super long run.
270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just dumped all my BTC :( on: January 13, 2015, 11:49:57 PM
I hope another ALT will rise, Ill hop on ASAP. LTC seems to be moving..

Alt= alternative = price still tied directly to bitcoin.

Little bit of a problem there.

Can't say if your decision today was a good one or bad one, because nobody has a crystal ball.  But the trend certainly looks gloomy.

This is also a classic case of why you should only invest what you can afford to lose.  I lost a bit too when I sold majority of my holdings at 3xx after paying around 5xx for them, but looking back...I'm glad I did.  My gut told me things didn't feel right, and I sure as hell am not going to keep 'loading up the truck' on a falling sword in attempt to lower my loss average.  Learned my lesson from silver.

Wish you the best whatever path you take.

I think this is the biggest problem facing bitcoin right now.  Selling pressure + non profitable mining is not a good situation in this very pivotal time.

There's really nothing useful or informative about this assumption.  We already know that mining tends towards an equilibrium between difficulty and price.  Since we've been near equilibrium for some time now, we can expect the difficulty to drop if the price continues to drop (which it will, and it already has).

Way to put me in my place... I guess?  You first go on to say that my statement was an 'assumption,' which in fact it is anything but.  Then you further reinforce this by simply reiterating exactly what I said as fact.

So yeah.  I don't know why you chose to re-quote me if you simply agreed with what I said.  And I never claimed any of my post was earth-shattering news, but rather just pointed out the obvious for those who quite ostensibly are unaware, and somehow think this is due to inflation.

Cool pretentious attempt at a counter-rant though, brah.  You so erudite!
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is the value? on: January 13, 2015, 01:52:06 PM
The value of Bitcoin is in freedom, it`s not control of any subject in fact.

On opposite the issue is that thanks to his freedom there is a lot of fear to just accept it and use properly - properly means to me just to exchange fast, almost free and fast the value.

If everyone will just hold it does not help. It`s here to be used daily, with everyone.

The only problem is, spending it means losing money...because bitcoin is still measured against the dollar.  So it's purchasing price is decreasing as we speak.  When or if it ever comes a point where bitcoin gains complete independence from the value of fiat, then this won't be a discussion.

I imagine there are still many baholders out there that still don't want to trade or spend their bitcoin at this price because they'd be taking a huge loss.  It's psychological, but at the same time not everyone is rich enough to have the freedom to just be tossing bitcoins around and taking losses without batting an eyelash.
273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitstamp hack bitcoins are now moving! on: January 13, 2015, 12:24:07 PM

Bitstamp should offer 2000 BTC for whoever help find at least 10 000 BTC of the 19 000 BTC lost.

Yeah, but why offer a bounty if they themselves were the ones who stole the coins....
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guy admits it is his job to destroy Bitcoin. on: January 13, 2015, 12:22:25 PM
And this thread was revived after more than 3 years lying dormant and coincidentally today is one of the biggest price drop in bitcoin history. And seriously, they need that long to destroy bitcoin? I always have the feeling corporations, banks, huge financial institutions have the means to destroy the coin so if we survive this round of onslaught, we should rise up stronger than before.

I don't think he or any other negative blogger or forum poster is needed to drop the price of bitcoin.  The scamming exchanges and imprisoned Torah lords are doing more than enough to handle that task.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where is the value? on: January 13, 2015, 12:19:11 PM
One thing's for sure: the only ones making money now are the daytraders glued to their monitors shorting it every 3 minutes.
276  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CEX.io Halts Cloud Mining Service Due to Low Bitcoin Price on: January 13, 2015, 12:15:56 PM
If bitcoin price keep falling down
Another cloud mining will halts their services too

I wonder if bitcoin difficult will down this week ?

Possible but not likely.  The chinese have tens of millions into dedicated supercomputing farms that I doubt they'll stop their operations just because of dropped price.  Then again, I could be wrong.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners are killing bitcoin on: January 13, 2015, 12:08:22 PM
I have a lot to lose, when Bitcoin fails, but I still enjoy this threads. A lot to laugh about.
A lot to laugh about, indeed.
But I'm getting a little irritated by the uninformed making statement like 'Unless difficulty drops significantly, I don't see any incentive on why miners would be taking a loss'. What is this? I read that over 10 times, thinking I misread something.

Well that does make a bit of sense in that, difficulty is a proxy for the number of miners/amount of hash, if the 3600 BTC a day pie is shared between less miners then they get more pie each.

Shhh.  Don't let him in on that little fundamental secret.  It appears he's quite confident in his own ignorance. Smiley

and irritated with post like this (if he=me). I know that 'secret', see my previous post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=923018.msg10135314#msg10135314

Difficulty doesn't drop by some king of magic, or God intervention. If mining is not profitable for some miners, they will stop mining. Less hashrate on the network - difficulty drops, and miners that are still mining get more coins.

Pay attention, please.

Uhh.  You realize you re-iterated what I said in my excerpt that you claimed was false. Lol.  I don't even know where you're going with this....I clearly stated dropping price forces miners out, and the price may not recover if miners drop out unless the difficulty drops enough for miners to jump back in.

Reading is fundamental, my friend.

279  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN is going DOWN on: January 13, 2015, 11:50:33 AM
Guys guys!! what is the floor?

40 USD is the floor.

What Shocked where you got that number from , It will never drop that much , never .
what could possibly make it drop to that price

Right.  Just like it couldn't drop to 500 when it was 700.  Or it was impossible to drop to 400 when it was 500.

The indicators, trade volume, and trends all point to a huge price crash.  Breaking 200 resistance would be both a gigantic blow to the market physically and psychologically.  It's already to the point miners are losing money.

Hell, the fact it breeched its previous low of $250 is significant.

Will be interesting to see where this long downtrend eventually goes.  I'm hesitant to buy in just a bit, but I think I'm going to wait.  Feels like a huge trap right now, and the only ones making money are the daytraders shorting every 5 minutes.
