261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The power of HODLing BTC on: March 27, 2024, 04:38:43 AM
Yeah these coins move from time to time, especially when we are in a strong bull market where we break to new highs. And most people assume that the coins from 2010 are lost but this is proof it’s not true.

I think coins from 2009 won’t get moved and are considered lost due to the fact that satoshi most likely will never move them or they lost the private key. I actually wonder when the last time a coin from 2009 was moved which was mined from the 50 BTC coinbase reward.
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshi? hacker? who? on: March 27, 2024, 04:35:15 AM
This isn’t the first time that coins were moved from 2010 which were mined and given the miner reward of 50 BTC.  When bitcoin broke the ATH a couple of weeks back, some OG from 2010 also moved their coins. This might even be the same person.

If these coins were from 2009, especially earlier in the year then it’s possible to assume it’s satoshi. But by 2010 many people were mining bitcoin with their cpus and then shortly after with their gpus.
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has BTC really become more attractive than gold? on: March 27, 2024, 04:31:53 AM
That Nilan news of acquiring all those Billions of bitcoin was completely false. They are a penny stock, market cap of like $1M there is no way they can raise enough capital to buy $1B. I think it was a pump and dump scheme.

Either why while we are on the topic, I think as a store of value bitcoin might be more volatile but it’s easier to store and spend compared to gold. Gold might get lost or stolen and you cannot split a bar of gold if you want to buy something small. Hence Bitcoin is a better alternative but people just need to understand it first.
264  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BSV trading in USA on: March 25, 2024, 10:57:04 PM
Yeah this coin is seldom on any exchanges and it has most likely to due with the fact that CSW was harassing people all over Twitter and Binance CEO got pissed off and delisted the coin. After they delisted the coin lost its popularity. Another place it was widely traded was FTX which is also gone.

This is the issue with coins which are not tokens on the ERC20 ethereum network. You cant easily trade them with a DEX and need to rely on a CEX. However most CEX are KYC these days and depending on how much BSV you hold, might be better just to leave it on your cold storage and see if it appreciates value in the future. But with CSW losing the trial, I don't see any future for this coin. Might do well since we are in a bull market but the long term future isnt bright.
265  Economy / Speculation / Re: My instincts on the value of bitcoin from now to halving on: March 25, 2024, 10:52:21 PM
Today was a surprising day. I was expecting at the NY open for GBTC to continue dumping Bitcoin but the complete opposite happened. We started at $67K and we hit $71K at close. Barely any dips, a very strong bullish day. We are now waiting for the ETF flows to see if the flows were the cause of this huge price increase.

Other markets were down or flat like the NYSE and NASDAQ. So it seems that the whale buying all these bitcoins is back like a couple of weeks back. IF the flows show another +$500M day, then we will hit a new ATH sometime this week for sure. No idea if we hit $100K before halving which is in like 3 weeks. Not enough time.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blacklisting Wallet Addresses Across Various Bitcoin Wallet Types on: March 25, 2024, 10:40:06 PM
Yeah there is no such feature. I got sent some dust attack inputs over the years, they are annoying and I just hide them in my wallet software. Unless fees are 1sat/byte you cannot even spend this dust because the miner fees to move it are more than the value of the input.

I know why he is worried, if he is sent some tainted funds from some mixer or hacked funds, then his exchange could freeze his account due to suspicious activity. However I dont think this is common. If you are worried dont publish your BTC address in public, keep it a secret. OR at least use a one time use address and switch to a new address for each new transaction.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are NFTs just marketing gimmicks with no added value? on: March 25, 2024, 10:35:14 PM
I heard of NFTs back in 2017 and assumed it was a big joke. Back then people were paying $50K for some monkey JPEGs. I was thinking they were crazy. Then those Bored Apes became worth millions and then I decided to learn more about NFTs. Its basically a collection of art but you cannot fake ownership like you would a prized painting.

Say you bought the Mona Lisa, your friends came over and saw it. They wouldnt know 100% if its real or not. But with NFTs you cannot fake ownership. So I guess I understand the value behind it. But I am not much of an NFT investor or traders. I have no idea how the floor price even works.
268  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: getting past break even on: March 25, 2024, 05:18:47 AM
In the past with stocks, I tried for hours finding the perfect bot. I would use combinations of RSI, MACD, moving average, etc and what i found was that you can code a bot to work well in a trending market but if the market goes sideways then it won’t work.

Same applies for coding a bot to trade in sideways markets, it will be effective but when the trend changes and it becomes a trending market then it won’t work again.

This is the reason why most bots don’t work. Because they work under certain rules during a certain period, until the period changes and it doesn’t work anymore.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a scam on: March 25, 2024, 05:09:05 AM
I remember first hearing about bitcoin back in 2011 or 2012 because I used to follow financial news. And most of the time they were calling bitcoin a scam because how it lost 90% of its value and to never invest in it.

Then someone I know mentioned bitcoin and I told him it’s a scam and I am not interested. This was maybe in late 2012 and I regret reading that original article. Because if I invested in 2012 I would of been very wealthy today, that is if I didn’t sell everything in 2013 when it pumped again.
270  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how to follow whales? on: March 24, 2024, 10:44:59 PM
I actually used to do this by looking at the Richlist of a few tokens. I would track the ones who bought $1M or more and would sell when they sold and add when they added. I did this for many years and honestly it didn't help me become profitable. Basically in a bull market, every whale made money. And when the markets topped, all those whales sold at a loss or they just held on to it while it became -99%.

Its proof that even if you got tons of money you can still make the same bad investment mistakes as some millionaires do. So there is no point really in analysing the blockchain and following whale buys and sells. There is no edge to this. Unless I just did it incorrectly but I am pretty sure these were whale self-custody wallets and not exchanges. And in the end... i got nowhere.
271  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto remaining anonymous is good for Bitcoin! on: March 24, 2024, 10:42:05 PM
I think the mystery of Satoshi is a good feature for Bitcoin. And the mystery is what gives it value. We all know that Vitalik created Ethereum and it doesnt have the same history since the Genesis block.

I dont think he will surface. Even if he decides to sell some of his coins, it would be near impossible to do it anonymously since we got state of the art blockchain tracking technology. So unless he mined some coins in late 2009 and early 2010 which he plans on selling, I dont think those early 2009 coins will ever be moved due to the fact that everyone is keeping an eye on them. Imagine the early blocks being sent to Binance, his identify would be in jeopardy. So its best left as a mystery.
272  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 190K in 2024? on: March 24, 2024, 10:37:39 PM
Didnt realise the halving date has been moved up, it was estimated at being April 20th, but I guess with the extra hashpower we are going to get there much earlier.

Its impossible to say what price we will get. When we were at $74K everyone was calling for $1M bitcoin because Blackrock was adding almost $1B a day, and now the flows are flat. Last week everyday we got negative flows and we only got single digit inflows to the large BTC ETFs.

Maybe its like it was after the ETF launch, it stalled but later on the dip it started to accelerate and we broke the ATH. We will see what this week will bring. But lately too many people are being bearish and called the $74K as the top.
273  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC dip again? on: March 24, 2024, 04:51:20 AM
I can see it dipping perhaps max 30% and anymore than that and I would say that we peaked. Sure we had bigger dips before in a bull market but right now we got much more liquidity and we shouldn’t have the same volatility that we did back then.

And pretty sure if we dip below that and fail to bounce quickly then the top was $74K and we entered the bear market. But right now it’s too early too tell. Might chop around until the halving which is less than a month away.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New EU AML ban bitcoin anonymous payment on: March 24, 2024, 04:48:42 AM
I think in some countries they already do this. Some exchanges are already complying and if you want to withdraw you need to prove that the wallet you are sending it to is yours.

Basically a huge headache for the exchanges to do this. Because before they can process withdraws to an address not held by you, you need to provide proof who you are sending it to.

You also can easily just send it to yourself and then send it to whomever you wish.
275  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Quick way to learn bitcoin trading on: March 23, 2024, 04:56:06 AM
Trading crypto is no different than trading stocks. You can even use the same indicators. Just know that with bitcoin or any type of crypto trading you are allowed to withdraw your coins after your purchase them and keep on self custody.

This is important because Bitcoin exchanges aren’t protected in the same way as investment brokerages. Those you got protection if the firm goes under but if the exchange goes bankrupt then all your money is gone. Just like Ftx and MtGox.
276  Economy / Economics / Re: Federal Reserve Meeting Today! March 20, 2024 on: March 23, 2024, 04:53:22 AM
Well it’s like 2008 all over again. The warning signs are everywhere but the stock market keeps printing new highs and eventually it will crack and there will be chaos. But nobody knows when. Could be months or another year or so.

But the government spending is out of control and doesn’t help with these high interest rates. Surprisingly the gdp is strong so we are a long ways away from an actual recession.

Most likely there will be some cuts this year.
277  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin breaks 2021 ATH and hits $71k! on: March 23, 2024, 04:47:44 AM
Yes the flows are starting to get stale. Blackrock had days where it added almost $1B and lately the flows are low. So low that each day this week we had negative outflows.

Hate to say it but $74K might of been the top this cycle. Unless we chop around until the halving and start to break the new ATH sometime this Summer.

The last weeks candle close was awful. And that’s why the sell off started.
278  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should trades be closed only when the market is bullish? on: March 22, 2024, 04:17:52 AM
When crypto markets are rallying you should be trading more because it’s easier to make money. There are lots of opportunists and as long as you go long you have a better chance at making money.

Compare this to trading bear markets and sideways markets. Those are usually very difficult to trade. So you can trade those less but still have a hard time making money while now you can pretty much buy any meme coin and make great profits.
279  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bothered about every DIP? It's just a mental check. on: March 22, 2024, 04:14:50 AM
Lately it seems like the flows are starting to reverse, for the last 3 days and most likely for today, we got negative flows. Basically GBTC has massive selling everyday while Fidelity and Blackrock are barely making a dent in the positive flows.

If this continues then we might get a sharper correction and maybe $74K was the top this cycle. The market seems to be losing steam and it might start correcting even more.

I hope I am wrong but we got a bad weekly close last Sunday.
280  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are there some charges to use Bitcoin ATMs ? on: March 22, 2024, 04:11:03 AM
I rarely used bitcoin atms due to the fees. Even in the early days of bitcoin. Usually if you want to buy they charge you something like 10% and same with selling.

Only time I used one was because there were no fees for selling bitcoin only fees for buying. This was I think during the 2017 bull market where most of the demand was on the buying side and not for selling.

These days nobody uses these because you need to KYC and you are better off using an exchange with lower fees for that.
