261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have a "gambling problem" which you can sometimes control for years? on: December 22, 2023, 12:17:23 AM
People say they gamble for fun, I don’t. I love the adrenaline rush that comes from winning. Gambling hasn’t affected my personal life in any way. That’s because I don’t gamble above my means. I’m a football fan and hardly miss weekend bets on matches played. Its easy to bet on football because I know the players, I know the teams and I know the leagues. Even if I lose, it’s familiar territory and I know I can get a win next week.
262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has gambling ever whispered you with different strategic prediction measures? on: December 21, 2023, 11:35:34 PM
It’s hard to make your own luck when playing slots, the slot machine is programmed so the player has less than 45% success rate. I’m very superstitious when it comes to gambling whether it’s slots or playing a deck of cards, I always lean into the idea that something greater than myself is rooting for me to win. Every gambler at some point believes in good luck charms, it’s part of the trade.
263  Economy / Economics / Re: Are fast-fashion shopping apps hurting local economy? on: December 21, 2023, 10:54:08 PM
I have had multiple cases of  ‘what I ordered vs what I got’ from shopping from online stores and I’m done with ordering stuff online. I would rather walk into a store and get what I want. I use the prices on the websites as a comparison tool when bargaining prices in physical stores, of course one cannot expect the prices to be the same, we have to consider the rent and manpower that goes into running a physical store. All this cost are added to the price of the product. But at least I’m sure of what I’m buying.
264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard Rock to Hire 400 People Ahead of Rockford Casino Opening on: December 21, 2023, 10:07:07 PM
The question is, are the applicants they will hire also residents of their area, or will they accept other foreigners who will apply for their casino business?
If you read the article, the President of the casino stated that they are in talks with the community in regards to employment. That means they are giving priority to locals first before employing foreigners. From a community standpoint, it’s only fair they drive local inclusion into the company economy since the casino will be making their money from the community.

266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When do you take out your investment when in profit? on: December 21, 2023, 09:35:54 PM
Emotions run high when trading, it’s important to check one’s own emotions when making trade decisions. In your case, it’s obvious your greed is driving you to want more profits. When in a winning position, traders often lose their fear of losing and become overconfident in their trading plan. You forget altcoins are volatile and are often not worth hodling for long term.

269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitwise The Year Ahead: 10 Crypto Predictions for 2024 on: December 19, 2023, 08:41:01 PM
The predictions are all positive for crypto. For me, prediction 1 and 2 is the most exciting. Every bitcoin hodler wants to hear bullish news. My portfolio would skyrocket if Bitcoin hits the 80k mark but I would also have mixed feelings because as the price goes up more and more, that makes it more difficult to own a whole Bitcoin. I would have to work thrice as hard to be able to afford 1bitcoin @100k price.

Prediction 7 is the least exciting, I thought we have seen the end of NFTs but it seems musicians and famous people will continue to create NFTs.

I believe we will see a bullish next year if there is no pandemic.
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: December 19, 2023, 08:22:10 PM
that why am suggesting that Bitcoin and altcoin should be taught free of charge and the knowledge should be pass to the younger ones since they are the leader of tomorrow let see how it can reduce the rate of poverty or eradicate poverty entirely in every Nation.
There are so many sources online where you can learn all about bitcoin for free. Bitcointalk, Youtube, Github, bitcoin books e.t.c all these are free and available for anyone with a smartphone. Bitcoin cannot completely eradicate poverty, like other assets you need money to buy Bitcoin. How can someone who doesn’t have money to buy food afford to invest in bitcoin?
271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing bitcoin to the orphans on my birthday on: December 19, 2023, 06:27:18 PM
You did good OP! You’re a Christmas miracle to the children and the Orphanage. The items on the photos will make this Christmas enjoyable for the kids. Times are hard in Nigeria and I appreciate you taking part of your signature earnings to help others. It just shows your love for the children. I’ve seen some bitcoin cartoon topics on the forum, one of them is really good. Perhaps you gave them one of the videos from here. Teaching the staff Bitcoin would help them in their personal lives and also indirectly help the children who develop interest in Bitcoin as a knowledgeable staff would encourage rather than rebuke them.

273  Other / Off-topic / Re: Good manners and good favour. on: December 19, 2023, 04:50:36 PM
~snip~

What do you mean by favour? Is it merits or a good reputation?  I’m thinking this is another how to earn merits thread and you’re talking about merits but for some reason you replace the keyword merits with favour. Your merit history isn’t that impressive, would you say the reason why is because you haven’t found favour from older members or that you lack manners? Ass kissing merit sources and flattery could get you some merits but it can’t take you far.
274  Other / Off-topic / Re: Good manners and good favour. on: December 18, 2023, 07:17:38 PM
It’s good to learn how to effectively communicate with people in any space you find yourself. Newbies should know that not everyone here will like you, even if you’re doing good there will still be trolls who take pleasure in bringing you down. Your focus shouldn’t be on being liked by older members but to grow your knowledge of cryptocurrency. The forum rewards competency. If you can build your account to be one of the best posters on the forum, you will get the merits (favour).
275  Economy / Reputation / Re: My Grandma is in a critical situation. Asking everyone for help. on: December 16, 2023, 04:53:31 AM
I started reading this thread yesterday evening. Money isn’t a subject many are willing to discuss here, older members have seen many scams disguise themselves in form of helping the needy and so on. So forgive us for our lack of faith. Grandmas are the best people and it is never easy losing them. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Take heart my guy.

3. Which wallet is the best to safeguard my funds and ward off con artists and hackers?
You need to be careful of the links you open on your device as hackers often spam emails with malicious links. Hot wallets are vulnerable to hack because they are on mobile devices. Using a airgapped device will solve this problem.
[Guide] Secure air-gapped crypto wallet storage method
[GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide]

As for scammers, you should know that money doubling isn’t real. Any investment platform that promises high returns is most likely a scam. Don’t be greedy. Do your investigation before investing. I recommend you check the review of any website on scamabuse.com before making any financial commitment. Checkout the domain name, how long the website has been active and also the team behind the platform.
