261  Other / Meta / Re: How do you feel when someone gives you MERIT? on: May 18, 2022, 02:16:24 AM
I actually thought at first that Merits were just like the like button on Facebook. Then through reading I found out that it is more than that. Say it is an award given to you when you actually contribute something of value to the forum. My first merit came on my second which was more like a questionnaire post. I never thought I would be merited on it, that's after my first post wasn't merited. When I saw merits on it which were 4 from different senior members I felt like someone that just won an academic award. And seriously that even affected my mood throughout the day and was where my love for the forum escalated. And also those first merits of thought me that this forum actually honours you with merit depending on your ability to learn and also contribute to others here.
Right now I am only think about adding more values to the forum. But I always feel overwhelmed when I see people more experience than me credit my card little. Seriously it's always a great feeling  Grin
262  Other / Beginners & Help / How to avoid huge cryptocurrency disappointment on: May 16, 2022, 12:23:03 PM
Reading and hearing of some cryptocurrency traders and investors wailing about the recent crash in the crypto market, some even leading to suicide. Here are my precautionary measures on how to avoid cryptocurrency disappointment.

As we all know cryptocurrency market is  very volatile as such crashes is common. So one has to be prepared for anything.

1. DON'T TAKE ALL YOUR LIFE INVESTMENT INTO CRYPTOCURRENCY; this would have been said numerous times but new crypto enthusiasts like myself can be gullible or naive to how some might invest $87k in cryptocurrency and generate $1M in space of just say 72 hours. As this looks promising so is the risk associated to it. Some of this big traders have risk assessment, they don't just throw all their money into cryptocurrency.

2. Do NOT BORROW/LEND MONEY TO INVEST OR TRADE; if you borrow money to buy a coin, once the market falls it might lead to you willing to sell at a lower price and end up not recovering your invested money which might lead to been in debt. Which is one serious issue crypto enthusiasts need to stay away from.

3. HAVE SEPARATE SOURCE OF LIVELIHOOD FOR EMERGENCY; some newbies actually take crypto Trading as the only means of survival, and when there is a market crash there is a lot of panic which might lead to suicide or people being homeless. As a cryptocurrency trader/investor one should have another means of making ends meet even if it small income. Atleast that could sustain any market crash which can also take some stress out of you.
You can start today by putting some funds out (can be monthly) to start up new business, if there's none currently.

4. KNOW THE TYPE OF COINS TO INVEST/TRADE IN; personally i don't encourage huge investment in unstable coins. Coins with long term potential are advisable. Smaller cryptocurrency actually bring huge gains in a short time frame but it's risk are huge than the stable coins. Although it is quite hard to dictate which coins can stay up for a very long time, the most common long term coin is the Bitcoin, which has the potential to recover after market crash. Some of the tips on how to identify a long term coin are;

A) the first thing is looking at the coin's management team and how reliable it is. Some experience traders suggest that any management team that is anonymous is a big no trading/investing coin.

B) what is the project purpose; one has to read through the project and see if the purpose of the project is worth investigating in and aslo check the road map as to how they are moving towards the ascribed purpose.

C) How active is the project community; any project that doesn't have a strong/active development community is a big red flag.

As it stands now we do not know when the market will come up again or maybe it is longtime down fall. But investors/traders need to find means of diversification to avoid disappointments that could be unbearable.

Looking forward to some advice from senior members of the forum on this thread

I go with @charles-Tim that either there has been a phishing on your account where by Your coin is sent to a different wallet. Which if true your coin is lost already. Another might be Malware issue, and to be certain it is a real electrum wallet you need to verify GPG signature.

West Ham played a great match. There point doesn't only put pressure on Man city tittle challenge alone but has put up west Ham on the brink of Europa qualification, thereby leaving Man United to settle for a conference league qualification. The last EPL fixture will be a fierce and entertaining one with fight for league champion, top four, Europa/conference league qualification battle, and also relegation fight. It will be a great day

Would Merkle tree solves the problem of Collision sometimes encountered with SHA256?
No. You can make a collision, so that the left branch and the right branch is the same, and their concatenation after hashing is also the same. Then, you can put some node in an endless merkle branch downloading loop. You only need one collision for that: "SHA-256d(hash||hash)==hash". Also, you should probably be careful about endianness, but yes, it is possible to create a merkle branch, that looks like this:
Code:
     hash
    /    \
hash      hash
My question isn't about making Collision but can collision (process whereby hashing of two or more different keys gives the same hashing value or result) be totally eradicated with this method of Merkle tree

1. Would Merkle tree solves the problem of Collision sometimes encountered with SHA256?
What do you mean? There's never been a collision with SHA-256.
Collision of data ( senerio where by same result is generated when hashing) sometimes happens in hashing with SHA256 although proportional almost impossible. So my question is can Merkle tree solve it entirely
267  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Help; Would Merkel tree solves problem of Collision encountered with SHA256 on: May 14, 2022, 05:18:19 PM
Transactions in a block are compressed and verified as one in a Bitcoin by Merkle tree. The tree is created by repeatedly hashing of nodes to form a single one. This kind of tree is produced upside down ( not like the natural tree). The technique is similar to the process of hashing twice the SHA256. The tree can be constructed from multiple transactions but still has same top root of 32-bytes data. The Merkle tree efficiency increases proportionally with the increase in scale. SPV nodes are verified by Merkle paths without having to download the full Bitcoin blocks. Merkle paths connect transactions to the block Merkle root.

1. Would Merkle tree solves the problem of Collision sometimes encountered with SHA256?

2. How secure is this more than the normal linear hash and what's the difference?

Scam Alert

There's a particular channel/group on telegram acting as a P2P Escrow for cryptocurrency trading. The group has about 10, 000+ members so it looks more like a large and secure group. Which can trigger any naive or gullible newbie to trade in.

I want to cover this one, the number of people in a group is not an indication anymore that the group is trusted and secured it used to be that way, people used to look at the number in the telegram to trust the project, it's not anymore there are many service provider that can offer you thousands of new members in the group for a small fee.
Some of these are bots some are random, they accept membership in return for a useless token, people should take away the telegram group as one indication or criteria to trust the project.

Exactly the group was filled up with members using the procedure you just stated. But as newbies looking for how to make it heavy in cryptocurrency with proper knowledge. These are parts of the scam they fall into. Even the old me was totally scammed with such. But knowledge they say is light, although I learnt it the hard way
269  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Alert on: May 10, 2022, 04:58:46 AM
quick question:

were you deceived in these 3 scams?

in the first case it was your friend, but what about you? weren't you deceived in the 3 cases? Anyway, it seems to me that they are Nigerians, at least in the first case, it seems to me that they are a citizen of Nigeria, if that is the case, everything is easy. you can report this case to the nigeria police that they will investigate and arrest the scammers, as for the second and third case, well you need to know how you found these scams so you can get an idea of who is behind these projects

Actually the second was the only one I was scammed. Due to being a newbie. Actually after learning lots from this Bitcointalk I can only laugh at my own stupidity now

Why does everything appear to me to be a newsletter? Everyone is aware that these are obvious scam channels, but your friend was blinded by greed and chose to go for quick cash.

Please try to make your images smaller because they are distracting and make reading difficult.

Ok i will try to do that. This is actually my first time posting images

This is how dey work;
Someone will bring out an offer to sell his/her coin at a cheaper rate and negotiate with you after the agreement as been sealed you would be ask to pay in FIAT to the admin's account plus some minimal amount as transaction fee (<$1). After the payment as been done and confirmed by the admin and you are now waiting for your coin, the coin trader will now come up with an excuse which might lead to you requesting for your money back from the admin and you will eventually be remove from the group and all your chats deleted so the next scam victim won't find out. I later found that most members of the group/channel are not real. How they add them up is what I don't know.

The two images below are how two groups look like.

The first image was the group my friend was scammed $50 and was later removed.

The second image is a new group going round

Scam 2;

I joined tron.ac since November and I invested 1000trx later increase it,  though I made substianal profit on it. Yesterday I noticed I couldn't withdraw,  I thought it was network.  This morning same thing so I decided to contact their customer support,  I was told to pay additional  30% of total of my investment.  I quickly rushed to trxblue.com to check,  I withdrew with confirmation that it was successful but I didn't see any coin in my wallet.  So I contacted Joanna one of the customer support,  she replied that i should pay 20% of my total investment to continue mining.

Scam 3;

Today I was able to uncover two scam airdrops.

1 wirtual

2: yam finance

This two are pure scam. They will mandate you to pay certain network fee for withdrawal, after you paid you need to validate your payment, when it's confirm they will block your account.

Yam is a token designed to phishing your wallet to unveil your private information.
272  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Help; what happens to transaction in deactivated blocks on: May 05, 2022, 06:10:33 AM
A chain organisation is said to take place after more than a block is mined same time. The blocks in older chain are deactivated for those in the newest chain. When more than a block is mined at same time nodes receive different blocks causing disparity to which block was actually mined first. Then chain reorganisation happens when another block is mined. The most recent block is received as the newest longest chain. Each mode then perform chain organisation.

My questions are;
1. What if the nodes receive blocks shorter than the active chain, does chain organisation also occurs?
2. Does this mean only the transaction present in the longest chain remain valid after reorganisation?

3. What happens to the transaction in deactivated blocks?
To put it simply, you only have to reorg if you get a 'longer' chain.

So the reorg will not take place when it is a shorter chain?
What then happens to the disparity of blocks in each Node ?..... Will they remain different till a longer chain is mined

I doubt that Real Madrid will make any super efforts to bring Ronaldo back, but I still wouldn't be surprised if something like this happens. Another question is that there are many factors that are not in favor of this transfer.
Real Madrid doesn't need to make a super effort, Ronaldo may consider it if Real Madrid makes a serious offer. It depends on Ronaldo if he wants to come back again to Real Madrid or not. I don't know about Ronaldo's plan for his career, the factor to support the possibility of this transfer may depend on Ronaldo's career plan. From the Real Madrid side, this transfer surely will take advantage of them because Ronaldo was a great player and broke many records. We know how Ronaldo's role for Real Madrid. And till today, he still played in a good form. I'm sure this transfer will be successful if Real Madrid is serious to sign him back.

I strongly doubt Real Madrid will be going out for Ronaldo. Look at Madrid's transfer History, they hardly buy players that are near there retirement age. Considering Madrid's attacking form I think they would rather invest that money on a younger lad. Ronaldo coming to Madrid will just be like a step backward for Madrid's youngsters because they won't be having enough game time again. And how many years will Ronaldo play for Madrid again 1 or 2 years or highest 3 years and dey start looking for another replacement again? That will be bad. Perez doesn't do business like that

I guess Liverpool will going to the next final. but, I still doubt Liverpool will get the winning against Villareal tonight. the possible loss is 1 different goal and most likely is a draw, and I will bet for the last one, draw. I make the decision because Juventus and Bayern before is the strong club, both clubs are the same as Liverpool. Villareal was able to hold them even won versus Bayern at El Madrigal Stadium, So I believe it will happen to Liverpool too.

will they be able to repeat what they did to Juventus and Bayern to Liverpool? I think it will be difficult for them to do because Liverpool are a different team especially from Juventus.
I bet on BTTS, Villareal is very likely to score as well as Liverpool but agree with you the one who advances to the final my prediction is Liverpool.

Been 2 goals down against a team in form like Liverpool is a bit too tough contest for Villarreal. If they decide to go all out today against Liverpool they might got hit on counter and that's one football Kloop's Men are great with. Again if they decide to sit back, Liverpool can hold down the ball and be contented with even a draw from this match. Although we all know UCL produces some magical nights maybe we might witness yet another miracle today again

Manchester United has what it takes to win their remaining matches to get to higher position in the premier league table.
MUFC impressed us all yesterday against Brentford, but my biggest worry is their inconsistency, that is, after this impressive performance, they may disappoint both their supporters and others in their next game which seems like their last premier league game.  Some players like Mata, Matic will be missed at Old Trafford.

CR7 already has an impressive record with the club in terms of goals, and has made it obvious that he is not leaving the club just yet at this turbulent state.It will be interesting to see what the new manager of MUFC can do to restore the red devils to their glory days.

Cristiano Ronaldo's game by numbers vs. Brentford:

100% shot accuracy
100% aerial duels won
92% pass accuracy
87 touches
75 passes
5 duels won
3 aerial duels won
3 x possession won
2 shots
2 farewell hugs
1 penalty won
1 chance created
1 clearance
1 goal

Just look at those stats for 37 year old and a proclaimed problem

Looking at the way Manchester United played today one can only ask why has Mata not being much involve this season considering his technical prowess and considering how Manchester United having been lacking it throughout the season. There was even reports that he trains very. So why hasn't he been featuring

It's great innovation seeing people getting involve in case crypto related business here in Nigeria considering the blackish it has been painted by our government. But no matter our great I see the work I still feel it's kind of risk getting publicly involved in cryptocurrency here in Nigeria. And for people paying through BTC, wouldn't the current ban also scare people off in getting involve since they don't know who is in charge. Some might consider paying with FIAT. I think the first thing to do now is to have a larger community of Bitcoin enthusiasts just like us either creating awareness through social media and then afterwards you can consider your plans again in getting into the business. But it's a great innovation though. Thumbs up
279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: May 01, 2022, 09:14:19 AM
For Liverpool to get that chance, City need to lose or draw in their remaining games which is impossible since if they do, they will lose the title, but Liverpool still has tough games left, especially the Tottenham game. One point can determine whether Manchester City loses or wins the league. For Red Devils, they're trying to win this one, even though that seems impossible.

I believe the race is yet wide open because Manchester City are feeling pressured, and they know that they can’t afford to drop their guard hence they’ll be nervous and that’s when mistakes can happen so too early to say they’ll win it. Furthermore the way that Liverpool are constantly keeping up the pressure is remarkable, but it’s yet difficult to say will it pay off or no, hence we’ll just have to wait in excitement to see as to which team will win the league title.
To ensure themselves as Premier League champions this season, Manchester City must go through four more games with a win. The pressure is definitely on Manchester City's side, if Manchester City make a few mistakes, Liverpool who are in second place will immediately replace them.
Throughout this season Manchester City has always been the leader of the standings, Manchester City must maintain their position from the pursuit of Liverpool. Of course Manchester City don't want to see Liverpool party in the last Premier League game.

I think the pressure is on Liverpool though because imagine having wake up everyday to find out that they have to play better than there Current form and also still expecting miracle from the other side is a big task for them. The painful thing is they could end up winning all there remaining matches and still be a point shy of the tittle courtesy of Manchester city for the second time in Klopp's era

Madrid trashed Espanyol to become Laliga champions. Some of the records broken are;

1. This season's tittle win means Madrid have a record 35th league tittle in there cabinet way above the likes of Barcelona, Athletico Madrid and Athletic Club having 26, 11 and 8 league tittle respectively to there names.

2. It's a record 50th trophy for Florentino Perez as Madrid president.

3. Marcelo became Real Madrid's most decorated player ever with 24 title medals to his name. Having join the Los Blancos in the summer of 2007 and with his contract set to expire this July it is save to Marcelo has cemented his place as one of the greats in a Madrid shirt.

4. The experience Calor Ancelotti also became first Manager to have won a league tittle in all of the 5 top European leagues having achieved similar fit with AC Milan (seria A, Italy), PSG (League 1, France), Bayern Munich ( Bundesliga, Germany) and Chelsea (EPL, England). It is save to say Don Calor is the most underrated manger of all time.
