How it's possible to protect your privacy on banks?

Banks' employees: Sir, could you give me your ID card, please?
You : No, I want to protect my privacy.
Banks' employees: I'm sorry, but we need your ID card since it's one of requirement to create an account.
You: No, my privacy is way more important STFU.

If you use DEX, the banks won't know if you trade Bitcoin because you're doing it P2P, only the sender know you (but they only know they've transact with you, they don't know you real name, face etc.)

Exactly. You got my point buddy. We can't be anonymous in real life. You cannot be on a flight without your passport. But, when you buy a ticket, you must show your ID or passport. There are some services that we cannot take without giving a photo or our identity. Such as opening a bank account, buying a new SIM card, buying a plane ticket, etc etc.

But, if you have other options, go for it. The fact I tried to point out is that your banks do not know that you have cryptocurrency until you tie your bank account on an exchange and buy cryptocurrency with your bank account. But, people buy Bitcoin using their cards these days which is breaking their privacy.

Cheesy

So, if you had the opportunity to invest your money into something would it be to start up something regardless of the amount of risks that come with it, or would you rather open a business or make a simple investment into assets?

It's not that easy buddy.
I have been planning for a while to start some business and most of the time I failed. I had a mobile accessories shop in our village market. But, it failed due to COVID-19 and some other issues. I had to pack up everything and go back home. A couple of thousand dollars was wasted.  Then I started to think of building a cow farm and I started it as well. But, just because I didn't know how to maintain everything and what to feed and when to feed, my cow's growth wasn't enough. It wasn't a loss project, but I am still struggling with this one.

Very recently, I started another business of Computer spare parts, Mobile accessories, Electrics, a Studio, and a printing shop. I don't know what will happen this time. But, let's hope I will be able to success this time.

There are many different databases that can identify a person. I think that in modern times it is not very difficult to match your bank accounts, your mobile phone number and your Apple or Google account. For example, if you bought a subscription or an app. Of course kyc on an exchange is an easy opportunity for third parties to get your data. But if you use bank payments, that also reveals your identity.

You guys are not getting what I am talking about. Crypto privacy and real-life privacy are not the same. Please do not mixup Crypto with your real-life thinks like banks and other things. I have a different identity in the cyber space. Nobody knows what is my real name. Not even my closest forum friends. Even if they meet me in real life, they won't know that I am Learn Bitcoin.

No matter what happens with your Bank account or your identity. I understand that there is a possibility of identity theft. If it's get stolen from a bank, you can sue them. Centralized exchanges are the platform where people mixup their virtual identity and their real identity. People do KYC to store their crypto currency.

I was away from gambling for a while now. But, Sportsbet brought me in with those free bets last week. I enjoyed those free bets and I lost them at the end. Everyone is telling their winning story. But, unfortunately, my ending seems like too bad. I always play well and get f**ed up at the last moment before I plan to withdraw. Last night, I deposited around $100 in Bitcoin and decided to place some bets on soccer matches and I was doing quite well until this happened!

I placed a bet for a team and they conceded a goal in the extra minute and unfortunately, that was my biggest bet for the day. LOL.

268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto White Paper on: February 21, 2024, 10:37:56 AM
Well, if we talk about personal data collection, I think not only centralized exchanges are selling customer data to other third parties but even banks and other organizations like apple or Google are also doing that. That is why many people do not participate in the cryptocurrency market but their information is sold on the internet.

In my opinion, if we are already citizens of a country that has been issued an ID and use devices and services provided by organizations, then our identity has long since ceased to belong to us. And are you sure you don't use your bank account, insurance card, smartphone, email...

Look, doing KYC on a crypto exchange and doing it in a bank is not the same thing. When we do the KYC on a bank, they do not know if we own any crypto or not. Your apple account or a google account does not ask for your real identity or your photo. I do not know about apple but I know about google. I use Gmail and other google services but it never ask for my identity. Even if it ask for names or birthday date, you can easily give incorrect information and noting will happen.

For banks, they do the KYC process on their office and the chance of identity stealing is minimum. But, the purpose of using crypto is to maintain your privacy. We do not use banks for privacy enhancement. So, it does not matter if we do KYC there or not. But, when we KYC on crypto exchange or a Casino, they know we are crypto users and this is not good for privacy. Right?

You've been active on the forum for 2 months and still haven't found the rules pinned on meta?

Is it surprising bro? I don't think so. Registration date should not be a matter. He probably signed up two months ago but wasn't active enough to know more about this forum. Or probably he didn't explore the global boards. Every person has some specific interest. There could be some members who sign up to do bounty campaigns, others who sign up just for technical discussion, and some others who may only be interested in local boards. It's not surprising at all. I guess a lot of us found the forum rules after a long period of our registration.
270  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's stupidity to have thousands in Bitcoin using a software wallet on: February 21, 2024, 05:14:29 AM
This was how I found FreeWallet, I use this to store some Bitcoin, it was easier for me because it required only email login and password, I stumbled on some that ask me to write down recovery seed but it was stressful for me, stupid me, since Free wallet sync with my email I thought that's all that matters and I lost it all, can't log into my account anymore, as if Freewallet swapped my password and log in info.

You may already know now that Freewallet is a complete scammer! There are hundreds of scam accusations against this wallet service provider. I have never seen a wallet ask for KYC information but this fuckers does. Even if you had your seed phrases, I don't think you would have been able to get your money back. I never used their service and I don't know how their service works. All I know about them is, they are just a bunch of scammers!

I do not have thousands of Bitcoin but I have some Bitcoin. However I am afraid that I am unable to buy a hardware wallet due to some limitations. Bitcoin is not allowed here and no companies ship hardware wallets to my country. I wish, I could have buy one.
271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when your identity is stolen -- real story || Avoid CEXs! on: February 21, 2024, 05:06:24 AM
A friendly bump!

I was watching YouTube videos last night and saw an old video where they showed how a Bangladeshi guy was caught with an illegal VoIP calling system and over 3500 SIM cards. Usually, A Bangladeshi citizen can have a maximum of 15 SIM cards with his national identity and biometrics. Now, the question is, how the hell did this guy manage to buy 3500 SIM cards?

If you are guessing that their identity was stolen, then yes. You are right! But their identity wasn't stolen from CEX, but from local SIM selling points. Some of the SIM sellers were collecting finger prints in silicon rubber and identifying information by taking a picture from phones. This could be another example of why you should be careful with your identity. Here is the video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVrg9HInRJw
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto White Paper on: February 21, 2024, 04:54:08 AM
I am not aware, but to be honest, I am also not surprised. I am not sure why the info is worth selling/buying. I mean, I can totally understand that governments may want to surveil bitcoin and, in this effort, they will need to ask KYC exchanges for clients' info. But, who else would be interested in buying them and why? Marketing companies? Or anything more shady?

Not everyone on the internet does legal things, right? There are always some bad people. You never know if your identity was used by a hacker or a bad person. You should consider reading What happens when your identity is stolen -- real story || Avoid CEXs!. The identity of that guy was stolen somehow and he was in massive trouble for that.

You can also read Coinbase Admits Its Former Data Provider Sold Client Data. We don't know what are they doing with those user's data. But, whenever you search for a user profile on the internet, you will find some full profiles of some citizens. How do you think those data were collected? I know some survey worker pretend to be USA citizen and use those data to make their profile.
273  Economy / Reputation / Re: Plagiarist DiMarxist is back. No signature ban? on: February 20, 2024, 06:14:33 AM
Let the admin and the moderator decide what to do and what not to do. Unbanned users who got a 2nd chance from the 2nd chance thread got the signature ban because the admin offered them the unban. On the other hand, DiMarxist created an unban appeal thread and he was able to convince the admin or the moderators to unban him without the signature ban.

Since he was able to convince the moderator or the admin that he should be unbanned without the signature ban. He was able to convince them with his forum contribution. It could be his local forum contribution that admins take into account.
274  Other / Meta / Re: A copy button for [code] blocks (SMF patch) on: February 20, 2024, 05:55:25 AM
I don't find any difference between two styles, can someone pinpoint? Or is it due to I'm on phone and no differences are showing?

If I am not wrong, then the difference between Style A and B is the black border in the copy button. Take a closer look at the picture of the example and you will understand what I am talking about. I don't know if there are any other changes or not. These are the only visible changes I have noticed there.

If you ask me about picking one from Style A or Style B, I would like to choose Style A because of the black border and the space it has between the code box and the button. I guess this is a old style, but I like it more than the updated version due to the visibility fact.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Michael Saylor and MicroStrategy sell BTC? on: February 20, 2024, 05:37:27 AM
I understand what they said. But, I don't think it's true fact that they will never sell their Holdings. There will be a time when they have to take profit from their investment. If they want to cash out their profits, there are no other ways except selling their Bitcoin. But, if they keep their Bitcoin as an investment asset only and want to calculate the profits as unrealized, then why not?

They could do it as long as they want. I am not part of their team and don't know what is happening in their mind. They may be saying those positive things to influence the market. We never know the truth.

277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto White Paper on: February 20, 2024, 05:04:37 AM
I agree in general with your statement. Playing devil's advocate though, since I have been there, when someone first starts learning about bitcoin, they may not be very knowleageable in terms of privacy. So, I 'll speak for myself here, saying that, at first, I knew I had to take my coins off of exchanges, so I did. But, the mistake was made... I bought some coins through CEXs because I wanted to buy bitcoin as soon as I learnt about it. I was fascinated by it. Then, I joined the forum and I started going deep down the privacy rabbit hole. This is where I decided to stop using CEXs. But, I mean, mistakes can happen. The point is, we should fix them.

Not only you, but most of us made the same mistakes. I can speak for myself. I have used Coinbase as my first Bitcoin wallet. In some countries, most people still learn about Bitcoin from the exchange groups or trading groups. They do not see Bitcoin as one of the privacy enhancement tools. They use Bitcoin and other crypto to learn to trade on those centralized exchanges.

Once we do the KYC, we cannot undo that. My identities are already online and I never know if their 3rd party provider going to sell my KYC info on the darknet or not. I don't know if you are aware or not, but a well-known exchange accepts the claim that their 3rd party partner (who does the KYC process) sells the user information on the internet.
278  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How do you cool your Farm? on: February 19, 2024, 06:20:38 AM
Like what type of methods u use to cool your farm ?
planning to start a farm  want to know what you guys use to cool the room

I don't have a mining firm. But, I would love to share something with you. You should not use what others are using. Because their weather could be different than yours. So, if you are planning to set up a large mining farm, you should choose a place where the temperature is low compared to other places. I heard that some miners set up their mining farm in a place where weather is low temperature and they don't have to spend extra money to cool down their mining farm.

You should do some research before you start working on it. You may follow what BitMaxz shared already. But then again, always pick the right place for your mining shed. It really matters.

When it comes to equipment, the best choice for a mining farm would be ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) miners, as they offer high hash rates and energy efficiency compared to traditional GPU miners. Some popular ASIC miner brands include Bitmain, Canaan, and MicroBT. It's important to research and compare different models to find the best fit for your mining operation in terms of hash rate, power consumption, and cost.

You are not helping yourself by posting AI garbage buddy. We all can do this and ask ChatGPT questions to get such a reply. Avoid doing this shit. This is frowned upon in this forum.

Talking risk is an important part of a gambler's life but man, even if you got the money for free it was yours and could have withdrawn it to enjoy it. However, if you think that free money isn't worth enjoying and it's good to take risks with it then that's also okay.
I know that buddy. Nobody want to lose when they gamble. We always try to multiply our balance. But, in this case, I was trying to wager some money without losing. So, when my first lose bet came, my mind changed. I didn't wanted to lose so I place another high bet to recover the loss of my first bet. But then again, I lose the 2nd 40 euro bet and so on.

Probably I placed those high bets because it was a free money after all. Usually, that's how I gamble when I start my session on games like Crash, dice and mines. But, we do not do these things in slot games. Right?
