First of all, go and check your balances on a Blockexplorer and try to figure out what happened. You can use blockchain.info or any other blockexplorer for that. That's the first step. If you still have issues please make another post with more details.

Do certain users fall under a different set of rules than other users? Is there a secret hierarchy that is not visible to regular users?
Can one evade the permaban whereas another one can not?

He's speaking of the POS blockchain, not the VM, which he has stated numerous times has value. Cheers Matt Y, thank you for your comment. It would be great if you could elaborate on that. Do you personally see value in the Ethereum platform? What are its advantages to Counterparty? Disclaimer - I personally believe that Ethereum is a fraud.

Aaaand the monero spam is back with a silly loaded question.
I have no idea why you would be interested in derailing my topic the way you did with that unrelated comment but I do wish you well. Let's get back to topic. CryptoNote is not limited to its usage realized through Monero, it is a groundbreaking crypto-technology. I do believe that it is extremely undervalued.

Spoetnik's posts are often spot on but unfortunately they are always completely wrong about Monero. Whenever Spoetnik touches a topic related to Monero, anger levels reach unhealthy levels and bad temper arises. One day Spoetnik will understand the need for private transactions, because without privacy there is no freedom. Sometimes he loses his mind and posts unrelated material, but that seldom happens in the grand scheme of things. Overall Spoetnik is an anonymous character that comes here to propagate serious and thought-out opinions on all things cryptocurrency, yet is primarily perceived as a hobbyist web forum entertainer.

I can't really think of one primary issue that I have with Bitcoin but there certainly are a couple things that bug me about it. Overall I consider it too slow and bloated already. It just takes too long to do transactions, and the network's scope of centralization has increased to a dangerous level. All in all I still do like Bitcoin.

|
|
Can we still say that bitcoin transactions are faster? I have send some of my bitcoins to an address and about one hour has been passed but still there is not even a single confirmation.
what do you say about the transaction timing?
If you mean faster compared to bank transactions then that applies in most cases. Faster than other, more anonymous cryptocurrencies, no. There are faster alternatives with less blockchain bloatage available.

Frankly if you don't know how to find that out or how to research to find out whether your faucet is under bot attack or not, you might be better off not running a faucet at all. That sounds harsh but it stresses that you should be able to do your research.

Measured by the number of pages this topic has acquired within such a short period of time I'd say it's quite safe to assess that people do have some thoughts about Bitcoin potentially being replaced by a future cryptocurrency. I can however personally agree that this does not seem to be happening in the near future, that is to say in the next 1-2 years.

Is the technology that cryptonote introduced a noteworthy and important contribution to the cryptocurrency space? Would you consider it one, if not the best, crypto technology that uses advanced mathematical analysis and innovative ideas to empower end-users with true privacy, both financial and personal? Can it shift the current global paradigm through cryptography and egalitarianism?

In fact most ICO schemes are scams indeed. That team does not look technically able to implement their plans. This is most likely not going to turn out well for the investors. They have raised almost 500 BTC and will probably hire developers to do the work later on while sipping on a piņa colada themselves.

Ever been scammed by someone using Paypal on Ebay and got to enjoy their buyer-discriminating customer service? Never again. Paypal really is a criminal operation.

I wish there was a "Yes, but could be improved" choice. Anyway, BTC is quite all right, the real issue is with exchanges. I wish there shops somewhere where you could buy BTC over the counter and pay with cash, just like you do to buy a soda.
I've added that option to the voting options just now. Thank you for the suggestion, I agree that my voting options have not been the best in the first place.

Cleaned everything a while ago and banned him.
Thank you for taking care of this forum, Cyrus. It must be a job that requires strong nerves and you guys definitely have them.

Unless you're a professional without any financial pressure I would not recommend earning a living on Bitcoin alone. If you know what you're doing and have a steady flow of Bitcoin coming into your wallets, then go ahead. But that only applies to the 0.01%.

Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
|
|

Even if I had to I would most likely refuse to pick a new name for Bitcoin because I couldn't find anything that fits better. If you were to force me to, I would just call it Bits. But that's not really what I want obviously.

Anonymity in Bitcoin, as I can see from this thread's participation, is a topic that is not to be neglected. Private transactions are more important than ever and people are becoming aware of that.
