261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has satoshi just been found and radid on: December 10, 2015, 12:51:37 AM
You could have posted this in the other million threads about the subject but anyway, theres no conclusive proof this guy is satoshi and if he is and they find the coins they are not going to be able to do anything with them since they are encrypted anyway which is hilarious.
262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the Return of Satoshi (aka Craig Wright) really means? on: December 10, 2015, 12:50:02 AM
What does believing the "evidence" of craig wright being satoshi nakamoto or not have to do with being for or against the centralization of bitcoin? you are talking nonsense, i dont think anyone here is pro private bank blockchains.
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What excites you the most about bitcoin during this year? on: December 10, 2015, 12:46:41 AM
I think segregated witness was the coolest way to end 2015 and sets a good path to keep scaling bitcoin into world domination, I think next year will be huge and im stacking up on 3 figure btc as fast as I can while it's still 3 figures.
264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's PGP Keys Are Probably Backdated and Point to a Hoax on: December 10, 2015, 12:22:34 AM
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/satoshis-pgp-keys-are-probably-backdated-and-point-to-a-hoax

A good article on Vice magazine which is a huge website and gets tons of traffic. It expands on the points made by Greg Maxwell a couple of hours ago. It's impossible to claim Craig Wright is Satoshi at this point, you would need to take a big leap of faith to do so. Im not saying he isn't 100%, but at the same time anyone that thinks he's the real deal is being delusional.

I really don't get the point of all the buzz. What difference does it make if he's really satoshi or not??

Lol it's huge, if you don't see why I don't know what to tell you, it should be obvious. Of course Bitcoin continue its path to success with or without an anonymous creator but nonetheless it's big news. It seems it's all going to end up in nothing again anyway.
265  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin Declared Illegal In Taiwan on: December 09, 2015, 03:47:08 AM
They are putting their feet on their grave with this since they are denying a huge booming economy to take part on their country. These clowns will learn the hard way.
266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto's P2P foundation profile makes a reply on: December 09, 2015, 03:45:30 AM
Well I actually took the time to read some of this and it seems they have a lot more evidence than last time. If it is really Dr Craig it would suck. It was cooler when the man was an unknown myth.
267  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people around you think about Bitcoin ? on: December 09, 2015, 02:41:53 AM
Whenever I have mentioned it which I rarely do, they never understand it and don't see the point because they live on their little world of mindless amazon consumption and mall shopping. Let them miss out on being an early adopter.
268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation spends 31 BTC flight ticket to London??? on: December 09, 2015, 02:16:41 AM
This is outraging. Can you believe how happy the average hard working Bitcoiner would be to even own 10 BTC? Most people here will not be able to reach that amount, but these guys spend 31 in some first class plane tickets.. what the hell man.
269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think might be holding back Bitcoin's success? on: December 09, 2015, 02:12:44 AM
It's still too obscure and looks strange to most people outside the bitcoin circles, but we only need time and let things get better and the average user will see it with a different perspective, for now i wouldn't worry about it.
270  Other / Off-topic / Re: In 20 years, what would you like to do with your bitcoin? on: December 09, 2015, 01:10:16 AM
I would like to come back to this forum and celebrate with all of my HODL bros that we made it through the insane ups and downs and realize we don't even need to cash out anymore because we are all set for life and can buy anything we want with BTC directly.
271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin impacts? on: December 09, 2015, 01:07:13 AM
Being able to move money transnationally without reporting anywhere still blows my mind. I mean we can send 1 peny or 1 billion dollars right now to tokyo, malli or some place in a remote island. It's insane.
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best investment? on: November 17, 2015, 07:11:35 PM
Unless you already own something, be it special knowledge, funds, real estate, a rich girlfriend or bitcoin it is very difficult to invest. This is the actual problem here.

Most people who need to invest urgently have very little to throw in. This is why everyone and their mother are excited about Bitcoin. Imo, this is a chicken and egg problem. There are no safe investments and a lot of investments are zero sum games or outright gambling. Even real estate. I believe it's a terrible advise to buy real estate right now. It's overbought. You will pay a hefty premium and the future is not a one-way street to ever increasing profits. Why? Unless people are able to sustain paying for increasing rents, the value of your investment could go down. If you were lucky to get an apartment or house in an auction, good for you, but someone else got burned. All risky investments are extra unsafe if you cannot afford to lose anything.

"Don't invest more than you can afford." What if you cannot afford to lose anything because you are out of luck (see line one). The majority of people should fall into that category.

If you are poor, you need some way to accumulate money and you hardly have a choice but to get an education and a job. A signature campaign won't cut it. Bitcoin won't cut it. Even if you can afford to buy one or two Bitcoins, this will hardly be a life-changing event. It doesn't create stable income.

If you have enough money to make a living and own way more than is enough, you could either go short-term trading (still gambling imo) or put your money to good use. Help a company to grow, or produce something useful. Maybe invest in a bitcoin business. Oh, I forgot, most bitcoin businesses are about gambling as well. Isn't there anything a little sustainable to put your money into apart from real estate?

Yeah, if sig campaigns payed higher, maybe I would consider it a full time job, but it's not worth it, it's an actual job, you are advertising someone's else business and getting a really tiny rate for it. An actual job is better, but it's very time consuming tho, it's hard to think about investments when you have a stressing schedule. Who knows, maybe a guy spending all day here trying to hustle a little Bitcoin here and there and saving all of it, may make more in 10 years than someone working a normal job for said 10 years.
273  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone here part of "1 million club"? on: November 17, 2015, 07:04:20 PM
I think there are around 200,000 ULTRA HIGH NET WORTH INDIVIDUALS (over 30 million USD net worth) in the world... the dream number I wish I could reach in BTC was 1/200,000 of total supply.

STEEP! Even at today's prices! Sad

It's impossible now unless you go back in time. All of these guys had luck, had vision, or had both. We can't do nothing about it. What we know is, the technology is solid and will disrupt the world, and we know we are here now, way ahead of the pack. Let's try to make the best out of it. You can still be 1/500,000 if you own 42 BTC.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: November 17, 2015, 06:57:07 PM
Which one are you Jbreher?  Were you able to hang on to some of your early purchased coins?  Do you have thousands of coins, as some of the posters here assume?

I believe that you are suggesting that your bitcoin holdings are much more modest than the assertion of "thousands."

Haha. I wish. I once had amassed 'almost thousands'. But I learned a hard lesson about greed -- both that of my fellow man, and of my own -- in the pirate@40 / Trendon Shavers / BTCST debacle. I was utterly wiped out in that one.

I've been able to accumulate a few more coins since. Enough that, in the case I believe to be the 80% scenario (bitcoin eventually becomes ubiquitous), by the time I reach retirement age*, I'll be able to do so in grand style. Of course, in that scenario, even a single full bitcoin will be vast riches.

*any young pups out there might note that I am already as old as dirt.

Do you think that a 30 year old will be able to retire in 10 years with about 20 BTC? I cannot stand a single day at work, too much stress, I just need more free time, I cannot develop my hobbies, I suffer from anxiety, please help me BTC Sad

Perhaps a new job is in order rather than a miracle investment in a niche.

He has more chances at making it with BTC than trying to find a job that isn't very stressing nowadays. With 21 BTC, you are basically a member of a club where only 1 million people are admited (only 21 million coins ever, so only 1 million people holding 21 coins is possible).
If Bitcoin wins, the price should be high enough to retire with that in that period of time. Like satoshi said, if bitcoin is still around, it will be very valuable or be 0.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocksize on: November 17, 2015, 06:53:06 PM
I don't know how the dynamic blocksize BIP works, it sounds too good to be true. If it was that easy, we would have selected that method a long time ago, but im sure there are some underlying problems with it.
276  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you wish you could buy with btc ? on: November 17, 2015, 06:41:48 PM
I would like to get some food now with BTC Tongue

I am kinda hungry. But I want that we can buy and pay everything.

What do you mean? Direct payment in BTC? If yes then be ready for the output lol.

1)  When you buy foods @ $300 range then when you are about to eat price boost to $400. Smiley

2) Yes its really cool when someone sees you pay in bitcoin but be ready for "aliens" around you as you will exposed your beloved physical wallet (smartphone , trezor etc..)

3)  If confirmation takes too long then you have to wait for it to be confirmed before they will place your ordes. Damn that. Pretty insane what if 2 days still unconfirmed. Tongue

You don't have to wait for confirmations. I don't think confirmations are a problem unless you are buying a car or something. To get some meal no one should care about confirmation taking 10 minutes or 100, the confirmation will eventually go throught. Its safer than a CC.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocksize on: November 17, 2015, 06:40:17 PM
2 MB so we have extra time to work on the Lightning Network. 8 maybe is a good idea too, but it may be too much of a hardcore step of a sudden that may bring some problems. If there is an huge adoption all of a sudden, its not like 8 would be enough anyway, we need LN.
278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why in some countries Bitcoin is banned on: November 17, 2015, 06:29:49 PM
They are afraid of the competition..

It's not really the competition they are affraid of. They don't want people to have the freedom to spend their coins on anything they want. Beside that, Bitcoin is also feared by certain countries because it makes it easy for people to get money out of their country to another country where they think it's safer. Countries that ban Bitcoin are affraid of freedom. That's it.

They are affraid of money laundering and basically lack of control of the monetary dynamics. Honestly I understand it, if I was the goverment I would be pretty pissed off too at the fact there is a tool now that basically allows for a completely independent economy that is not part of the GBP.
279  Other / Meta / Re: Why 0.11.1 isn't shown at the top of the forum as latest version? on: November 16, 2015, 03:26:41 PM
Why isn't 0.11.2 shown at the top now? It has been several days since it was released, enough time to do all of the gitian builds.

Because bct is just one of his 600 jobs, probably still recovering from midterm caffeine withdrawal.

Even this dogie could do the job of changing the header message every time a new version is out quicker than mod Cheesy

It has been days, time to upgrade.
280  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's happening! --- 3̶6̶0̶$̶ 4̶5̶4̶$̶ 502$ on: November 16, 2015, 03:23:40 PM
This is looking like we are going to have a price on the 300 range for a long time before we start rallying again. Good news for the buy and holders, not so good news for those that like the pump and dump schemes.
