261  Bitcoin / Pools / How do I mine with my Avalon ASICs? on: December 26, 2012, 08:23:48 PM
In a few days (hopefully) the first batch of Avalon ASICs will be delivered.   The question that bothers me at this point in time is, how to I mine with them in the most efficient way, the reason being, its those very first days that every bit of performance counts.

Do I solomine or point to a pool (which pool would support this in the most efficient way)?
262  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] BTC-Lotto.com + DVC-Lotto.com on: December 26, 2012, 08:11:21 PM
The 100BTC is a conservative amount and obviously subject to different evaluations:
1. Domain names, btc-lotto.com and dvc-lotto.com
2. 3 months remote support.
3. Ownership of the source code.
4. Installation support

Developing the source code takes time, testing and validating that it works in a real live environment, even more.

If you are an experienced programmer with lots of free time, then surely you'll be able to develop this in a few weeks in your spare time and this auction is just a question whether the domain names are worth that amount or not.

If you are a busines person or a skilled programmer with little free time then your calculations go differently. 100BTC are currently ~1350 USD. What do you pay a reasonably good programmer with a proven track record to develop and maintain a secure financial web application per hour?  Assuming you'ld say 25 USD/hour - which is ridicilously little - then that gets you roughly 54 hours   (1350 USD / 25 USD per hour).   54 hours is (for me at least) just a bit less than a normal working week. Now put that into context, I believe the 100BTC is a very low fee, assuming you are looking at it from a business perspective.

Interesting concept, watching closely.

For a start, an observation that leads to a question:
Quote from your Webpage:
The IPO office is operated by BioInfoBank

Punching BioInfoBank into Google, I come across the page: http://bioinfo.pl/   which says: BioInfoBank Institute is a non-for-profit research and development organization ...  The main scientific focus of the institute is Bioinformatics .....

How does that all fit together? Care to elaborate because most of us, when we read "Bank" as part of an organizations name, think about a "real" bank with banking license, etc.

To make this very clear: The page is not making enough revenue to even pay of the electricity of the servers at this point in time. It requires substantial efforts to market and promote.
265  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] BTC-Lotto.com + DVC-Lotto.com on: December 26, 2012, 07:36:56 PM
What you are getting is:
 - the code
 - the domains
 - proven record that the code works
 - a (few) registered users
 - assume currently no active players

As for the usage, it's been very little due to the obviousl lack in marketing activities.

Some metrics I can provide:
375 bets placed so far on dvc-lotto.com
275 bets places so far on btc-lotto.com

269  Economy / Auctions / [AUCTION] BTC-Lotto.com + DVC-Lotto.com on: December 26, 2012, 07:21:55 PM
Due to lack of time I decided to offer the two sites btc-lotto.com and dvc-lotto.com for sale:

What you get:
 - source code and the rights to do anything you want with any part of the code
 - ownership in the domains: dvc-lotto.com, btc-lotto.com
 - 3 month remote support on any technical issues related to the code
 - existing databases of users and the balances of their accounts (balances are neglectible, registered users on dvc-lotto.com ~100, btc-lotto.com < 20)
 - my support to get the code up and running on your server

What you don't get:
 - the jackpot funds, you need to top up the jackpot with your own funds
 - anything not specifically listed under "What you get"

What you need:
 - a linux based server (VPS also works) with at least 3GB (guaranteed) memory
 - a remote site/server to push the backups to
 - basic Linux knowledge
 - basic/good Ruby knowledge
 - basic/good MySQL knowledge

Should you not have the necessay skills to technically run the platform, but you believe you have the necessary marketing skills
to get this site to a much more successful level, feel free to propose a 'Joint-Venture'.

I am taking offers starting at 100BTC (or equivalent amount in DVCs), I reserve the right to close or cancel this auction at any point in time.

The API is described here:https://vircurex.com/welcome/api?locale=en

Example, to get the complete DVC/BTC Orderbook: https://vircurex.com/api/orderbook.json?base=DVC&alt=BTC
273  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: December 14, 2012, 08:29:27 AM
There isn't a list of the total order book, we show only the top 20 as that is typically sufficient. The API allows you to retrieve the complete orderbook.

Alternatively you could use http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/vcxUSD_depth.html  Bitcoincharts pulls the complete orderbook via the API, though limited to USD/BTC and EUR/BTC.
274  Other / Archival / Re: closed on: December 12, 2012, 01:13:50 PM
OK, changed the display logic to make it easier:

 - EUR/USD show also on the main screen even if you are not logged in
 - if you have set in your user settings (tab Layout) display only BTC to yes, then the EUR and USD tabs will also show but limited to BTC and EUR and USD

Hope the "new" logic is more user friendly.
275  Economy / Securities / Re: [WANTED] 500 BTC Contract for difference (I'm taking the long position) on: December 12, 2012, 03:17:36 AM
The features of "Options" on Vircurex.com might help to facilitate to secure such deals. Knowing that CFD and Options are different in nature, but Options too allow you to hedge your investments and you have the exchange to take care of the "deposits".
