261  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Understanding Coinbase Fee on: December 29, 2017, 11:51:25 PM
Thanks krishnapramod for you explanation. Did not realize effectively coinbase was keeping my coin. What if they got hacked?

Looks like once I invest large enough amount I need to move the coin to my own private wallet. Given the current blockchain transaction cost it's not economical to do so for small bitcoin amount.

Yes, please do this if you want to add more securities to your bitcoin as you have planned to invest in bitcoin for a long-term, the best wallet in the market id Ledger Nano S (https://www.ledgerwallet.com/products/ledger-nano-s) as you can keep bitcoin out of the online network, it's extremely secure, just keep it in the safe place. If you want a free wallet, you can install electrum wallet on your desktop or download it to your smartphone.
Because once an exchange gets hacked than everyone who has coins in the exchange are in loss.
262  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The Beginning of the End? on: December 29, 2017, 11:29:55 PM
Venezuela just announced its backing it's national crypto currency with crude barrels. While also rolling out regulations for the petro coin as Russia did the same for their national crrypto currency as well. It is clear that crypto is here to stay but what about the dollar?

Will the dollar crash and turn it all to chao's in the process? Only time will tell, but the clock started today!

Some countries want to create its cryptocurrency? I don't think it's going to work, why create cryptocurrency? It's better to digitalize their fiat currency instead of creating a new one, because people trust in bitcoin or some famous coins such as ethereum, but not with the newly centralized cryptocurrency issued by the government.
The dollar will always here to stay, it's not going to fall or collapse anytime soon, powerful country backed dollar and cryptocurrencies can't fulfill all the demand for global transactions which require thousands of transactions per second.
263  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-29] From $900 to $20,000: Bitcoin's Historic 2017 Price Run Revisited on: December 29, 2017, 10:59:08 PM
2017 become the most surprising year for bitcoin or for bitcoin users as most of us didn't expect bitcoin could reach over $20,000 within a year, even though the price has corrected to $14K right now, but still pretty high price compared with $980 when we start this year. There are a lot of events happened in this year such as mentioned in the article, but the most significant news that affects bitcoin price maybe because some big financial institutions interested to invest in bitcoin, then bitcoin futures comes up.
264  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SegWit wallets on: December 29, 2017, 01:47:48 PM
Just wonder, why big services are not using segwit wallets?

Well, that's what we have been asked since segwit has been activated but exchanges and big platforms seem don't want to use the segwit address, maybe because they already have fixed fees for withdrawal. After mempool has too many unconfirmed transactions and ask for higher fees, exchanges can apply high fees without let you know how much they will charge, as some people here already experienced it on coinbase. At least all of us in this forum should support and use a segwit address.
265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Attention! BTC is heading for 8K! on: December 28, 2017, 11:59:13 PM
Bitcoin market works based on development and acceptance, it's not just because bitcoin increases significantly and then will crash to $8000.
There are no any triggers that will cause bitcoin fall so significantly. Bitcoin seems tanks above $12K in this year and may keep on this level until the end of the year.
266  Economy / Economics / Re: question about transaction fees... on: December 28, 2017, 11:28:26 PM
Current transactions fees are getting better than a few days ago, decrease to 660 sats/byte which mean you will pay BTC0.0014 for median transaction size of 226 bytes.
So, if you want to send bitcoin worth $200, the fee is around $20. Pay $60 fee is ridiculous at current network condition, it's not just bitcoin mempool but something wrong with ANX. This is a common problem with exchanges or platforms which offers cryptocurrency services, that's why you should know how much the fees to withdraw.
267  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-27] Bitcoin Trading In China Blooms Despite Ban on: December 27, 2017, 11:48:02 PM
China has only banned exchanges, they haven't really banned bitcoin trading. If they really were worried about Bitcoin, you will see a crackdown across platforms, including peer-to-peer ones. Most people will comply with the ban just to avoid being harassed.

I think so, they never issue a regulation that bitcoin or bitcoin trading is illegal which can lead citizens to the jail, they just ban exchanges.
Since a country can't ban bitcoin due to it's pseudonymous or even can be fully anonymous if you know how to do it, people in China will always find a way to trade bitcoin, some exchanges were located in China have moved out and run their business in HongKong or other countries. If they want to convert bitcoin, just use those exchanges.
268  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Wanna start trading and see results? on: December 27, 2017, 11:34:18 PM
Seems the development of this bot has stopped as Op never update anymore, have checked the auto purchase link but Product does not exist.
However, you do not need a bot for trading, just buy some potential coins and hold it for a while, within a month it will be profitable. Or else, learn about some coins in order to find a hidden gem, invest in it and wait again, sometimes it takes months for a coin to reach the peak. Look at litecoin, it was worth few cents a few months ago but it can reach $270 today.
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit2x Dec 28th on: December 26, 2017, 11:45:30 PM
Hope this time it's not a fake news and we will see this hard fork.

No, it won't happen on the main nodes. Bitcoin will not change and this fork just like a fud news or the best result will create another altcoin as this proposal is unrelated to the original SegWit2x proposal. I admit people want to see the scale problem finally resolved due to high fees problem and the best hope for now are segwit fully implemented on every wallet and platform and lightning network.

271  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] CryptoLive.TV - LIVE CryptoNews Channel on: December 25, 2017, 02:16:19 PM
Basically, it is just a youtube channel that goes live 24/7, isn't it?
There is nothing to access on the website, neither on the youtube channel.
Everywhere I click, refers to the channel but there is nothing to watch on the youtube.
I prefer to click on a news headline and read it on your web instead of watching it on the youtube channel, seriously.
272  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-24] Bitcoin Fees Increase to Over $50 on: December 24, 2017, 11:42:04 PM
Seems like this article a little bit too late, as the fastest fees for bitcoin transaction was 960 satoshis/byte yesterday, but it's decline to 850 satoshis/byte today, worth $26.
For median transaction size of 226 bytes, this results in a fee of 192,100 satoshis.
After check unconfirmed transactions, it's decline as well, from over 250K to 175K.
However, bitcoin fees still pretty high as we have to pay at least a half of recommended fees, around 400 sats/byte or around 90,400 satoshis or equal to $12.
273  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitrage between Korea and US brokers on: December 24, 2017, 06:56:36 PM
1.Korea is 30% more expensive than the United States.

2. You buy coins in the United States. I sell in Korea and withdraw money.

3. Divide your earnings by 1/2

That's the main problem here, someone from the US who buy the coins but have to share 50% profits with you.
Arbitrage trading requires a lot of money to generate profits, but another problem how to transfer the funds as you sell it for KRW and someone from the US want US Dollars. It's not easy to send thousands or hundreds of dollars out of the country as you have to fulfill all the legal documents.
Don't you think it's better for you to come to the US and buy bitcoin or altcoins, back to South Korea and sell those coins?
No need to pass the financial regulator, no need to transfer the funds and less risk than someone in the Us have to trust a stranger in South Korea.
274  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is correcting, what if big players could massively short it? on: December 24, 2017, 06:06:47 PM
Bitcoin price still tanks over $10,000 which a good thing as we start this year with less than $1,000
The last correction from $20K to $11K and bitcoin already recovered to $16K a few days ago. However, bitcoin price fluctuates significantly in every hour, more than $1000-$2000. We should get used to it as bitcoin market getting bigger, but how about big players? Bitcoin has great potential in the future, I doubt for bi players will massively short it as the biggest players in bitcoin market are those who have invested millions of dollars and want to earn a long-term profit.
If it really happens in the future, bitcoin price will crash and fall to uncertain price, but will always recover again, and again. So, no need to worry about it.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't believe the HYPE! BTC trans. confirmed in 22 minutes, BCH took 3 HOURS!!! on: December 24, 2017, 04:28:21 PM
I decided to set the BTC fee at half the reccomended amount, at around 500 sat/byte. The estimated time for confirmation was 25 BLOCKS or more than 14 hours.
ONLY 22 MINUTES!!!  Grin

So then I was waiting for the BCH transaction I sent, WITH THE FULL RECCOMENDED FEE...
AFTER 3 LONG HOURS!
What a joke. Cheap, instant transactions? HA!

Well, it's not fair without mentioned how much the fee for bch transaction?
I believe the fee to send bch is less than btc due to the difference of the price,
bitcoin price is $13,431 and bit-cash is just $2800, and you have paid 500 sats/byte, pretty high fee obviously.
However, bcash created as an altcoin, as a trading object without real utility, if the case of bcash transaction takes a longer time to be confirmed, it doesn't matter if most people just trade bcash instead of using it as a medium of exchange. and we expecting more from bitcoin, to be a better alternative currency.
276  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-24] {theguardian} Bitcoin is a bubble, but ... on: December 24, 2017, 03:26:43 PM
Inevitable development of the technology, including bitcoin in the monetary system.
Bitcoin gain value because people believe it's worth something, meant to be a currency but lately bitcoin has lost its utility appeal and most people just treat it as an investment object to generate profits. It has been proven as the price swings significantly within minutes, even rise and fall as much $1000 is a common thing these days.
Bitcoin isn't a bubble, but if this condition continues, bitcoin may not be used as means of payment due to scale problems still unresolved.
277  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet on: December 24, 2017, 01:46:56 PM
Why exodus wallet? Electrum wallet is far better than exodus in my opinion. As mentioned above, exodus wallet doesn't have an important feature; set custom fees is a necessary feature to add to a wallet. Even exodus does not support segwit address which is unfortunate. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7lcm1t/exodus_response_as_to_why_they_havent_adopted/
You can integrate electrum desktop wallet to your smartphone, easily to transact bitcoin and track your transactions everywhere.
278  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: twitter notifier - usefull tool on: December 24, 2017, 12:32:39 PM
That is so far from being called as a tool, it is just a Twitter account for certain altcoins price. Knowing the fact that there are already so many people out there doing the same thing like this, you probably need to find a new idea.
At first, by reading the title of the topic I thought this is some kind of a chrome extension or something. Turns out, it's not.

Indeed, it's just a twitter account which is maybe a bot.
Moreover, a twitter account isn't really helpful to notify about altcoins due to many accounts (following or followers) which update every second, you can't get notified unless always check the last tweet of a twitter account. In this case, better to visit coinmarketcap and watch over a specific coin that you want.
279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help BTC Balance zero but still in chain, I have no idea on: December 24, 2017, 09:16:52 AM
This is your txid: 21b1952c06aac50ba3ebad2e1add7e07f55e678e8d3eefbb519a381e90dc067d and it's not confirmed as you pay lower fee than required (0.00005300 BTC), at least you should pay 700 aatoshis/byte to get it confirmed within hours.
After checking it on https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/21b1952c06aac50ba3ebad2e1add7e07f55e678e8d3eefbb519a381e90dc067d it shows that your transaction has been Removed/Expired. Which mean your bitcoin still in blockchain wallet.
One thing; you said 4 days ago? But it seems like 11 days ago as the transaction on 2017-12-13
280  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-12-22] Belarus Legalizes Cryptocurr. and ICOs – Tax-Free for Five Years on: December 23, 2017, 11:45:03 PM
I think it's the second country in Europe after Germany that doesn't impose taxes on profits from cryptocurrency trading. I will have to start doing my research on the cost of property and residency in Belarus because it might be worth it to move there for a while if I ever decide to cash out my coins. Germany is still looking good, but the cost of living is probably much higher than in Belarus, and the political situation seems to be more stable in the Eastern EU. Who would have thought? Cheesy

Such a good thought Cheesy
Saving bitcoin as much as you can and cash out with zero fees in Belarus and lower cost of living.
Belarus has created a great environment for everyone in the crypto world especially for Companies who want to develop crypto-business.
Cryptocurrencies will flourish in Belarus obviously such as in Japan or even better, it just the matter of time.
