261  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Randomly Generated Private Key Outside of a Computer Environment on: March 30, 2018, 03:41:50 PM

Technically, I think it might be possible to calculate a public key from a private key without a computer.  However, it would be VERY time consuming, VERY tedious, AND if you made just a single tiny mistake in a step, then you would end up with entirely the wrong public key.  In that case, any bitcoins sent to that address would likely be permanently lost.

With some additional time consuming and tedious maths, you might be able to verify that the public key was calculated correctly.  You'd still risk errors though when calculating your address from your public key.

That was my thought. I know I've generated random addresses with dice in the past, but I just converted the 99 b6 digits on Bitaddress.org (offline of course). I rolled 5 dice 20x then removed the last number that I rolled. I'm wondering if I created any sort of bias when I rolled them, because I would just roll the 5 dice and record them from left to right each time. Maybe it would be better to have different coloured dice to avoid a bias.

In terms of converting b6 to a public key to an address, idk. That's just like using a calculator to calculate 24950338395935935803258 x 45984839059838383339923. I could do it on paper, but why would I? It's not any less secure if you're using a program on an air-gapped system to do the conversion for you (or in that case, just a calculator of course).

Just for fun, I converted 1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 11111111111111111111 to a bitcoin address. I'd try to use something a little more complicated if I were you Wink

We all knew that DEX would not go out on time (Q1).

Now,

The CEX is ready according to the updates. Why is the documentation not yet ready?  Huh Huh Huh

And the time passes.

Rather than half regurgitating information, why not just post a quote from Slack/telegram/discord? What documentation are you saying isn't ready?
263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the 100th digital money on: March 29, 2018, 01:48:02 AM
I don't think you understand what a cryptocurrency is. Taking a fiat currency and 'sending' it digitally doesn't make the currency that you're sending any less worthless.
264  Economy / Lending / Re: 1.5 BTC Needed Urgently Today on: March 28, 2018, 01:19:09 AM
It's not worth your time begging/borrowing here. Maybe do more of a write up and start a gofundme or something similar but with bitcoins.
265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter banned cryptocurrencies Ads on: March 28, 2018, 01:13:13 AM
I get the sketchy ICOs, but wtf, the CEO is really deep in crypto so why is he trying to stifle it? This seems counterintuitive, or maybe he's got regulators breathing down his neck or something. Idk, when you're that big you should do what's right and keep moving forward, not give in like this.
266  Other / Meta / Re: New child board for merit talk? on: March 27, 2018, 04:17:02 AM
Meta has become Meritland, at least for the short term, so I wouldn't complain if this came to be, but I doubt it'll happen. Hopefully like Vod said, this just passes like it did when the trust system was implemented.

How do I join the slack?

is the slack group still closed? here is the link that they provide on their website:
https://nvohq.slack.com

its not closed its just full, and slack is stupid when it comes down to new people joining, every now and then slack allows new people to join, so if you want to join try every day.

Join the telegram and/or discord too! There's always something a little different going on in each chat.

I believe all these things have been covered in previous posts;
so far the team has met all deadlines, and the money is being held by a trustful escrow.
 Roll Eyes

Dex has been delayed because of security  pen testing and hardening. No ETA on dex.

About time they update their website then!!

Lol why on earth would they do that?! That would be right at the bottom of the to do list I'm sure. Let's worry about getting the DEX out in Q2 rather than worrying about frivolous website revamps en masse.

TWSR really needs to leak more information  Wink
269  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: Raise merit requirements at the lower and highest ranks (@theymos) on: March 14, 2018, 01:42:46 AM
I think having higher merit requirements would make sense for legendary. Make it an actual very hard thing to obtain.

My issue with it from a selfish point of view is all of my old posts that are really great will probably never received any merit. Look how many spammers I found with alt account to in the past. I don't think anyone will ever give me that sweet sweet merit for them so I can see why this would be hard to implement for people that have already been around for a long time.
270  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: segvan: Segwit vanity address & bulk address generator on: March 06, 2018, 04:48:03 AM
I just really need to figure this out already. I need more time in the day to go over this over and over until I can run it normally. Thanks for creating it and I'll be sure to post my address some day when I finally figure out what I'm doing  Grin
271  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Have we seen the last of Bitcoin Cash? on: February 28, 2018, 04:48:22 AM
It's easy to manipulate the market cap of a coin that has all of the missing coins that bitcoin doest hen throw in the fact that lots of people haven't even moved their BCH at this point, it's just so easy. It's fairly easy for people to manipulate bitcoin prices still and bitcoin cash has so many less coins actually being spent and sent.

It was an attempt. It didn't exactly fail but it's not doing better than Bitcoin obviously, so it didn't win. Now would be a good time for them to change the total supply or something else major and just change the name already. Poor newbies are so confused.

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, it was late night here.
Here's your tracking number:
(...)
I think it would take 1-2 working days for the details to be showed up in the system.

Nothing since then, despite my numerous attempts to contact.

Awesome. Super glad to hear that you paid with PayPal. I hope no one bought with crypto, but I mean of course these scams happened on bitcointalk so that's unlikely.

Post as much as you can to find this guy.

You forgot to add what it actually does in your OP. Okay so it's an ETC20 token. Why would it have any value though?

Didn't read the whitepaper because I don't trust the link btw.
274  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC atm on: February 27, 2018, 08:17:24 PM
What is your take on BTC atm from a technical perspective?

Have you seen how many people have agreed in their technical analysis on the possible increases and falls in the bitcoin price?

I myself see in a certain channel of news where they do technical analysis and sincerely I have not seen one day that they have hit their predictions, I have already tried to make myself guinea pig using the technical analysis of them as a reference and i lost my money

But what is your take on the BTC market atm from a graph-perspective (fundamental is welcome as well!)?

well, the price of bitcoin increases when we have good news and decreases when we have bad news, so even if you spend hours doing technical analysis in the end will not be much help

Personally, I am very much in doubt. I do not like the current volume levels

is good you touched on this subject, I observe same situation, I was watching the volume of many altcoins and everything is down, last year in that same month the volume was very low

Agreed. TA in crypto is useless. Short term, no one knows and long term we'll see more adoption. A 60% dip scares some newbies to sell, but as usual, we'll heady back in the right direction. I wouldn't expect this flat line to last much longer.
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Cryptos are "printing money at home". it's illegal on: February 01, 2018, 04:36:12 AM
Cryptocurrencies is like printing money at home because Bitcoin and cryptos are decentralization of currency making.

Centralization of currency making means only central banks of each country can print money/currency (US Dollar, Euro etc..)

Printing money at home or in factory is illegal in all the countries.  Angry

This is the reason Economist "Marc Faber" said "there is will 10,000 cryptocurrencies and the bubble will burst"  Grin

I guess you're going to have to get busy reporting people to the authorities. I heard that there are a few people around the world mining so it may be a little difficult to find them, but I believe in you.

Don't listen to the haters. I know you can do it. Go for it.

Edit: 1111th post, make a wish!

Update :
I wont be managing this campaign from today onwards. This will be managed by blocksim ICO team from today onwards

Hmm, that was fast. Why are you no longer managing this campaign? Is there anything that the general public should know about, or were you only supposed to open up this thread and that's pretty much it?
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Ended]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | MultiWallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: January 29, 2018, 04:29:43 AM
Hey guys, I just wanted to see if anyone else was having problems with Counterparty sweep function lately.  I have been holding NVST since the ICO, and I have been trying unsuccessfully to sweep the NVST into my Counterparty address.  Every time thus far, I was sweeping without including the BTC from the original address; ie. I was "unclicking" the BTC in the original address, and only including the NVST in the sweep attempt.  I do not have any BTC in the Counterparty wallet at this this time.  I think this is the root of the "error" that has come up thus far on every (weekly) attempt thus far.  So, tonight, I am including the BTC that resides in the origin address and I hope this makes the difference.  I was not thinking, until now, that there must be some BTC included in the sweep to pay for the network fees; with the mempool in better shape today than it has been recently, my hopes are high for the sweep.  I really feel like a hostage to the Counterparty system and NVO TBH.  Anyone that has recent or relevant experience with the Counterparty sweep functionality, please let me know if you have any suggestions.....

So I just spent 30 minutes trying to sweep INCLUDING the (0.01BTC) bitcoin from the origin address in the sweep attempt.  After watching the dev console in my browser, it looked promising, as it showed much more activity;  it ended up failing however, and provided a transaction hash, and when I explored this hash on a block explorer, I got "Unable to decode output address."  So I'm trying yet again.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

That's normal for an unconfirmed transaction. It sounds like you've successfully sent your funds so I would just wait for them to confirm at this point.

Lol yeah random, politics and society and other threads like that now be wiped off the face of the earth. We'll not yet, but once they realize it's doing nothing to rank them up.

Don't click any links. It's got to be a scam. That seems way to random for th to send out and doesn't sound like Ton at all. Also, I've never seen that email address before, and why would they use their subasset as the domain rather than the DEX name? Makes no sense. Steer clear.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Ended]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | MultiWallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: January 26, 2018, 01:58:38 AM
With Stellar announcing their DEX and many others developing DEX's is NVO relevant anymore? What will set the NVO DEX apart from these?

Serious question. Long term NVST hodler here.

Well first off, stellar was founded by someone that was working at Ripple, right? It was basically meant to be a 'rival' of sorts. I don't know much more than that about it because I don't invest in banker shitcoins.

NVO is different because it's a modular exchange. Any token can be added to it. This means any blockchain, not like a lot of wallets or exchanges that say they offer a lot of alts, but they're mostly ERC20 tokens.

50% trading fees seems to be common with these exchanges, but I like NVO better because it's NOT an ERC20 token. I wouldn't invest in another ERC20 token, because I don't believe they're going to be around very long. They're okay for now and great for crowd sales.

NVO is such a different than any other project I've seen and that's why I'm invested in it. No one knows about it yet so it's the perfect time to buy in. Imagine what happens when advertising starts, when you can buy NVO easily and the DEX is out! I don't want to be scrambling to buy at that point.

Also, the best part about NVO is it's SEXY! Have you downloaded the wallet? It is awesome. It's going to be so easy to use, not some clunky mess like waves or even worse, the XCP DEX. It's going to change the way we think about decentralized exchanges.

Veserus may give people a chance to get in with fiat, which opens even more doors.
