261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: April 09, 2017, 02:45:02 PM
Hey guys,
I got 5 rx 480s (and one 1070), 480's sweet spot is 1200 mhz base and 2250 mem clock (it doesn't go higher), they do around 300-300 sol/s per card.
Yet my 1070 does 460 sol/s, so I'm gonna make another rig with 1070's.

I'm looking for a maker which doesn't have warranty void shit if thermal paste is changed (msi has that for example),
so I ran into 1070 mini http://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1070IXOC-8GD#kf
I can get it pretty cheap, my question is - does it perform as well as the "normal" 1070?
Does it overheat? I want to change the thermal paste cause some tests show -5 to -10 celsius and +100 on clock speed if good paste is used.

What do you guys think?

Mine works fine, almost 15 days straight. Knock on wood.

More to Come!

The single most important number (hash rate) is not visible. Cheesy
Anyways, what is up with that huge fan, and the temp is still almost 80 c?

I have 5 amd 480's (and 1070s...), and even without any exterior cooling, temps never go past 73 c, often are in the mid 60s.
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: March 14, 2017, 03:53:15 PM
The tradeoffs with Bitmain's products are well known.  This is why people are buying Avalon's and now other SHA256 miners are showing up.  They aren't as efficient, but Avalon has a track record of reliability.  I would have to second the observations on the Inno A4's.  They are pretty solid miners.  They still have some things that need ironed out, but hardware does not appear to be the issue.

Looking at the L3+ the specs say almost 80db on startup, and it is going to run around 70db.  That puts it in the same category as the A4 as far as noise and that is pretty loud for home mining.  Reliablity issues from the S9/T9/R4 are clearly part of the L3 makeup as well.

With the L3 and L3+ I would prefer the L3 for the lower power, smaller footprint, and much quieter.  But I have a hard time recommending Bitmain's products knowing problems exist.

Possibly an interesting turn of events with Eastshore.  I am trying to work out the details now.  I will keep you guys posted.

I didn't put db meter next to L3, but it's barely louder than my GPU rig. Bitmain PSU is loud AF compared to PC PSU, once I changed that -
I can sleep next to it, try doing that with A4. Sure it's loud for 1 minute at startup, but it never gets that loud during mining.
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: March 14, 2017, 12:29:53 PM
IS there a site cheaper by chance? really interested in this.

Read the last 3-4 pages of this thread carefully and then think it through before you leap in.
Bitmain L3 = efficiency + profit but patchy reliability (as with all Bitmain miners - see S9 + R4 subs)

Inno A4's are 100% rock solid, but less efficient as of today. Very soon there's a going to be a new software release coming that will reportedly improve that efficiency 20-25%, so when you factor in 1 board per L3 failing in 6 months, the cost of shipping it back, plus a month of lost mining, and all the work/heartache involved, I know which miners l'd prefer to own.

Disclosure: I have quite a few A4's which hum along for weeks and weeks without me ever touching them, some have been running for 2-3 months now. They occasionally reboot themselves due to the 'get-work' bug but other than that they run like clockwork. And Inno are very responsive and accommodating if you do have problems.

Buying a miner is a long term commitment, it may ROI in a year but how long will it take to return more profit than buy and hold? 3 years? That's a long time to keep something running if it's not 100% reliable.

True, but we still dont know enough about L3's reliability. I think it takes more users and longer periods to declare this or that.
PS - which scrypt coin are you mining? Or are you renting the hash power?

damn. sorry to hear about your troubles... my l3 still works fine (knock on wood).
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: March 13, 2017, 07:07:46 AM
yeah, I noticed the performance upgrade with 3.2b
I have a downclocked 1070, and I can squeeze 460+ sols from it @135W at the wall (even though TDP says like 60%),
I tried OC'ing it just for fun and got around 500.
269  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: (WTS) Bitmain 1600W PSU, brand new! on: March 12, 2017, 10:47:12 PM
What is price of PSU also you need to post pics with your forum name.

Thanx!

Smiley
Thanks for the question.
I guess around $150, where are you located?

270  Economy / Computer hardware / (WTS) Bitmain 1600W PSU, brand new! on: March 12, 2017, 04:52:11 PM
Guys, I'm powering my new Antminer L3 with PC PSU, because I sleep relatively close to the miner,
and Bitmain PSU is too loud for that, so I'm selling my PSU, it's been in use for barely 24 hours,
so brand new.

If anyone is interested, please PM me.

thanks!

You could have better results selling it at the computer hardware section of this forum.

Thanks,
I was just about to post it there too.

can I use my Corsair 450W PSU? Eastshore guys recommend at least 600W PSU, not sure why, if miner is rated at 400W?

cheap psus overrate their capacity, so by specifying 600 they figure even if you use a junk 600 that can actually only provide 500 it will still work. kinda like when amd/nvidia spec a minimum psu of say 600 watts for thier card when a good 450 will do.

you should get a power meter like a kill-o-watt to get actual power draw.

I got a power meter today and my power draw is 385 TOPS, I'm looking at it for a few hours now, and it hasn't moved beyond that poin.

EDIT: how to set it up for nicehash?
Also I have one "%" which changes to "!" sometimes in asic status, what does it mean?
274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer L3 - 250mh - 400watt Scrypt miner coming soon on: March 11, 2017, 11:30:47 AM
Yes you need at least 550 or 600. Miner is rated at 400, but it will increase it's power consumption on peaks also large Fan takes 30 or so watts.

ah... too bad.
thanks

Hey guys,
mine is working all right so far, I'll keep you updated,
but the Bitmain PSU makes horrible noise, it's got one miniature vent which is spinning at very high rpm and making a high pitched noise,
can I use my Corsair 450W PSU? Eastshore guys recommend at least 600W PSU, not sure why, if miner is rated at 400W?

GPU #1: result for 00000001 does not validate on CPU!

I keep running into this error after a few minutes of mining.
Ideas?

I get that error on the new version of ccminer.
If you are using ccminer 2.0 go back to 1.8.4

Yeah, I'm using 2.0,
thanks - will switch back to older version.

EDIT: 1.8.4 doesnt have the suprnova pool file, I tried copying suprnova setup text in the yiimp file,
but doesnt work - how did you set it up?

tnx
on windows create a .bat file and insert

ccminer-80-x64 -a blake2s -o stratum+tcp://netko.suprnova.cc:3714 -u username.workername -p password
pause

change program name and username and workername and password accordingly.

You sir are a hero! Smiley
thanks, I was missing the ccminer prefix.

Yeah, I'm interested as well. Mad results.
Ps my KFA2 1070 today wont overclock core one bit :/

It's stuck at 1518 mhz, I tried 3 tools and numerous resets, usually I run it around 2000 mhz core clock and 4000 mhz memory clock (msi afterburner)
and it works fine, but this morning I had a power outage while I was out and I just cant overclock it no more...
Very weird.
