261  Economy / Speculation / Re: Somebody took a big dump? on: May 28, 2013, 12:33:17 PM
just read Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore  the last 20 hours ..  you'll find out what happend..

but in short:
7k ask wall pushed prices down..
panic sellers  did a good job selling

at some point  7k wall was eaten  alive in a few seconds (some say it disapeard.. i say and saw it get eaten).

slowly price goes back up.  this is where we are now.

Bitstamp:

At least the OKPay thing is a smooth transition. Was Mt.Gox's announcement the first time, this news went public?

For the reference: https://mtgox.com/pdf/20130528_okpay_statement.pdf

Edit: https://www.okpay.com/en/company/news/bitcoin-okpay-terms-of-use.html, 5/27/2013

My question is: was the dip yesterday before the news?

I believe "OKPay suspending Bitcoin processing" and "OKPay not sending fiat to/from exchanges" is two different things. The former doesn't matter a whit to MtGox -- if you have Bitcoin, you can deposit it directly at Gox, no need to use OKPay.

I'm still trying to figure out MtGox's rather ambiguous wording on the matter, as they refer to OKPay suspending "all Bitcoin processing", but it's not clear what they mean.

maybe mtgox is just lying. to avoid people to switch exchange..    that use okpay .   we will know in a few weeks i guess.

edit : https://www.okpay.com/en/company/news/bitcoin-okpay.html
not sure how old or new this is . but okpay seems the one that wants to be an exchange itself Smiley     anyone know something more?

edit2: oh i was missing your point totaly.    i agree .. it's confusing
263  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 28, 2013, 09:18:46 AM

is it just me or is this the same pattern , only a bit smaller in volume
264  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 28, 2013, 08:43:04 AM
Fiat is pouring out from Gox's order book. Bears are better equipped for the next assault to $125.

It's crucial for the bulls to win that battle. If they win it for the second time the battlefield will be full of bear corpses, and they won't dare to try to take that spot again.

If they make it fall... Well, we will see much cheaper coins (below $120), and a mid term downtrend would be expected.

i dont belive bids or ask volume has much to do with price

the volume trading has been going down since the "bubble"...(had nothing to do with dwolla  etc)  to me it's  just silence before the storm .. and since we are trending up on the long run..   my best guess  is  that whoever wanted their money out of gox already did so. (like bitfinex they got all their btc and fiat out of gox )
the people who have lots of fiat cannot just simply put it on a bank without ringing some bells) and do not want to pay the withdraw fees.. on gox

like that 7k wall that got bought cheap yesterday.. this guy could have made much more fiat if he wanted out by selling slow. Since there's no other place to trade this volumes..  he'll be still in the game..

i'm a bull ofcourse i'm in for the long run too.

just my oppinion

265  Economy / Speculation / Re: OKPay to stop processing transfers to/from all Bitcoin exchanges on: May 28, 2013, 08:33:03 AM
never thrusted okpay..
wiretransfer ftw
266  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 27, 2013, 08:57:27 PM
that wall was eaten.; believe it! i saw it live happen.   for once moody clark did not fail on me on heavy action
267  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 27, 2013, 08:28:29 PM
Clarkmoody lagged on me... was the wall bought, or removed?
Bought, all of it...

Removed (after 1k was bought)
Are you sure?  I thought I saw the 7k $126 wall get completely eaten away, including a tiny chunk of it by me

it was first eaten like 1k.. then ik was gone for a second or 2..

then it appeard again.. and it was eaten.; i've seen it happen..
268  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 27, 2013, 08:14:05 PM
i wonder if that wall was suppose to be eaten..  was it all part of the plan? we will  never know..
or did the guy had some other trickery behind this move..   i cannot imagine this was not orchestrated with this amount of btc
it defininately wasn't cashing out.
he did not have the time to buy back cheaper..
maybe if he had 60% on bids.. sitting there and 40% (ask wall) it could make sense. but that means he is fucking rich ! :-).
269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 27, 2013, 04:54:32 PM
bears taking advantage  of the usa memorial day arent they ? Smiley no worries we can buy coins back at higher prices soon lol

270  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin - powered by greed? on: May 27, 2013, 08:34:09 AM
bitcoin works like anything else in the world: carrot on a stick Smiley
and thats ok .. if we had no goals .. we would be doing nothng or still be monkeys on this planet.

greed is fine, it's the carrot of economics..

personaly I use btc as a hedge against inflation..  even if btc does not skyrockets..(but it is and it will for a long time:) )  i'm fine with it..   it's still much better ten fiat.

271  Economy / Speculation / Re: why we need the price to go up to be more decentralised on: May 27, 2013, 08:08:34 AM
I requested an account there 2 times.. at tradehill..  no answers or replies..  anyone else got in?.. what are the volumes there?..
or is it not open yet?.. seems there are some trades going on .. looking at the website.

272  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 26, 2013, 05:27:08 PM
Yeah but, 131 is ~1800 coins away.  Fundamentally, nothing has really changed.

Yup, true. But slowly up we go... after leaving 131 behind, it should move veery fast. Wink

at current rate i think the wall is eaten in 2 or 3 days..  there's also a +1k short  @ bitfinex that at some point will close its position so it can go faster then we think.
273  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 26, 2013, 05:19:45 PM
if it only was easy to get gox $ out with sepa and move it to bitstamp..  it would be a done deal already..  clearing that 2k wall.
274  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 26, 2013, 03:30:11 PM
very slowly nibling at the bitstamp 2k wall Smiley..   i like
275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best Practices for Trading? on: May 26, 2013, 01:19:27 PM
When it comes to Bitcoin the best strategy is to buy and the buy some more.
i agree..

if i  just kept all the coins i got.. it would have gotten 50%  more coins now..      i lost so much in panic selling at the bottom Smiley  and had to buy back more expensive..
well.. not realy lost  but much less profit Smiley
276  Economy / Speculation / Re: OANDA Adds BTC to Currency Converter on: May 26, 2013, 10:01:29 AM

we can realy buy coins there.? . i mean.. it's not some "insde the box" trading thing with the only way to get money in and out is fiat?
277  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 26, 2013, 09:43:00 AM
Hmmm it seems BTC-E and bitstamp are not yet going up..

i think bitstamp is waiting on gox..

this will continue until the ask wall is eaten..   once we are past that .; i can see bitstamp in sync again with gox ..
normaly i'm buying on bitstamp trough bitfinex but the support on bid side is to thin right now for me to attack that wall with a margin buy.
so i'll just send in fiat to bitstamp and slowly buy some cheap coins.
wish  my next paycheck would arrive sooner Smiley

278  Economy / Speculation / why we need the price to go up to be more decentralised on: May 26, 2013, 09:07:27 AM
my first own topic  don't shoot me Smiley all is written imho.

the only site where it's worth trading +1000btc trades is gox.
nobody likes it but it's the truth.
how do you want semi rich guys to enter bitcoin world with gox(dwolla shizzle and so on)  as only place to trade these volumes(in dollar).

if price would go up. like 1000$/btc it would be worth it, for bigger players to trade on bitstamp or any other exhange.
If you buy 1000btc on bitstamp now.. you can.. but there's no support in bidoffers in case you need some cashing out.  on gox there is.
so if coins become realy expensive this problem should not be there for bigger players
which will invite even bigger players on more decentralized exchanges.

today the price is what the big players make it to be..on gox   you can move price up or down if you have 4k coins to play with.    4k is not THAT much in terms of real hedgefunds guys, or ceo's who earn a few million eur/usd  a year. (i'm talking to a few of them Smiley to get them into bitcoin btw hehe and some are interested to put some of their "play money" into it.)
-

I realy like the decentralisation.. less manipulation for cheap coins.. it's much more difficult to do so.. So price will rise more with more decentralisation.

what's your thoughts on this..

279  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 25, 2013, 12:08:19 PM
price will probably go a little bit(127-128) more down during the weekend..  no big problem realy.. iz a   beartrap :-)    and lucky for me i have some bids to be filled so.. please keep on selling weakhands Smiley
280  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 23, 2013, 09:29:34 PM
Bulls on Bitstamp are shifting a gear up.

olmost there..  time to buy up what's left of cheap coins..
If that is arbitrage buying, that's probably why the gox price stalled, the coins are being dumped there simultaneously (for a profit).

then you can expect some bigger uptrend next week Smiley or who knows.. tomorrow.    last friday some big bull started buying if i'm not mistaken :

to be honest.. i dont think the arbitrage game between bitstamp en gox does much on the price at gox.. volume on bitstamp is not big enough imho.
