261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 15, 2024, 01:24:01 PM
But Brandon Ingram is back. He played last night although they lost against the Lakers. I bet he is just warming up but he will definitely explode once the play-in tournament starts. Pelicans was a team that was hard to beat when he was around and only the injury stopped that. Still, Zion managed to be a star when he was needed the most and gave the Pelicans this position. I doubt they will lose easily to the Lakers. It will be a tough game, almost like a playoff vibe.
Lakers won by 16 points on the home court of the Pelicans, it's not even close. I know Pelicans are good but honestly, I don't expect much from them especially against the Lakers who are already in playoff mode. When Lebron and AD are leading the team in scoring, the Lakers will be hard to beat.

Lebron 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 17 assists, (that's insane),.. AD 30 points and 11 rebounds. These two are just eating the Pelicans alive.

Who are you going to bet for guys? Kings or Warriors?
We have seen last year how Steph Curry night-night the Kings and say they ain't ready yet. Will we see the same thing happening or this time the Kings will be the one saying night-night to Steph? I am excited to watch how that rivalry will end up this season.
I'm betting on the Warriors, I don't want to explain a lot as I just felt that it's just the right bet, They are experienced and that will be the disadvantage of the Sacramento Kings. Warriors can defeat them, they just have to minimize the output of Fox.
262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Going all in and losing the bet on: April 15, 2024, 08:07:10 AM
Since knowing when to quit is difficult, gamblers should try to know when to pause or go on a break. Through that short break his consciousness will come back and he may end up not continuing betting. I am speaking based on what i have seen. A gambler is ready to stand for 6 hours in a local betting shop and bet all through that 6 hours without taking a break.

So what should a person do to make a pause, when it is so hard to quit ? In addition to throwing advices, please add how to achieve them. I think the best way to have that pause in gambling is to set budgets. Make it maximum 20 bucks per session and it is clearly up to person how to gamble it, to go all-in or to gamble for 6 hours.

Imho I see nothing special when person goes all-in and looses everything. I usually saw people going all-in when they have little left to gamble, and that bet would be their lifebuoy. Either they win and regain what they have lost, or end current gambling session today. When a person goes all-in, it is always an increased risk bet.
In terms of how much we should budget, that is depending on our financial capacity, but at least we should know and be honest to ourselves on how much we can afford to lose only. $20 might be too small for others but too big to us, so we have different range in terms of how much we can risk, but being a discipline gambler, we should follow our budget, if we lose it all then come back tomorrow or next time you have cash to gamble. We should not force things out and try to  borrow money as that's the beginning of a miserable life, we think like that, it's like we are not man enough to accept our losses.

Only fools go all-in with tiny odds like 1.01-1.1 Cheesy as profit from that is miserable, while risk is still huge.

And it does not guarantee a win although it wins most of the time. I fact, I see some betslip before with million dollar bet with 1.01 odds but still lose, so nothing is really guaranteed in gambling, our greediness will kill us here.
263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 15, 2024, 07:39:39 AM
I don't know but seems that there's no plans from PBA governors they will go with the flow and let this scenario inside PBA, no chance of independent team to play for the finals, that's last season run by Phoenix making to the final 4 is just same with what is happening from those previous semi-finals, but in terms of final's birth seems impossible to any independent team as these two giant companies who controlled the league always manage to bring their teams to the finals that's why there's no interest anymore for most fans, they already know what will happened and that's not new anymore.
It's okay if they're looking at that without plans, the league will die eventually and when they will take actions, it's too late. They think that they can always milk the Filipino fans with their kinds of games that they can be bought with the decisions of farm teams and unfair trades. If it's like the PBA before where every team was very competitive, the fans will be liking each and everyone of it. I don't see the reason of being digital and online as a sign that the viewership has declined a lot. The Filipino baller fans just don't like this kind of league anymore with how they operate it.

It has changed a lot due to the monopoly inside. Even this entertainment only, it can be monopolize as the league allows a company to owned a lot of teams, so most likely it's the SMB and TNT which will be winning a championship, and that can be proven even if we checked the past championships where we can see it's their teams that are in their.

What happened is the other teams have no chance of winning a championship or even in the championship. that gets boring and boring and Filipinos don't like that as we want to see an unpredictable game as that excites us.

Young talents already got lots of options, aside from MPBL there's also overseas leagues that can cater them, unlike before where young aspiring stars always dream to step and play inside PBA, no longer that big part to inspire since they can quickly earn money once they show up and gained the interest especially with the help of social media they can be an instant prospect.
That's actually good for them. Before it was like everyone is dreaming to play for the PBA but now, it's just an option and there are better salaries and opportunities offshore and even with our local leagues like MPBL, Pilipinas Super League and others.

I think MPBL is trying to compete with the PBA in terms of salary as it has been reported (not sure if its true) that Gregzilla wants to come back home and will be playing in MPBL, his salary was 800k per month, MPBL team tries to match it.

< because for most gamblers it is very difficult for them to be able to manage their gambling and the money they can win from gambling ....

If this is true that most of us is having a hard time managing our finances, then this gambling industry should not exist for long. What I'm saying is it will gives gamblers problem instead of delivering the fun which is their service, so the government has to intervene and make the right decision, like closing it.

However, it's not the case, although we cannot deny that there are gamblers who really get addicted,  that's only a small percentage of the total gamblers, which means majority are still having fun although most of us really losses money.

We don't know the actual data but we can analyze it based on the action of the government,  if gambling is ban in your country that it has no connection with religious belief, that could only mean one thing, the poverty rate is high and people are so vulnerable to gambling addiction. We know that gambling business provide income to the government in the form of taxes, but if that would result to their people suffering more, then it's not helping at all. I know some countries ban gambling, and usually it's from poor countries, but since there are still countries that regulated gambling, it means overall gambling is not really the carrier of financial problem.
265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 14, 2024, 12:00:18 PM
As both Jazz and Blazers have no chance to move forward while against NO they are trying to avoid the play-in, they need to win but that's also the same thing that Lakers needs we will see if how the game will be played and which team will take the win.

That's why among the games tomorrow, this one is the most interesting game to watch.  Pelicans have an upper hand due to their homecourt advantage but the Lakers has been in this kind of situation many times, so I wouldn't be surprise if the Lakers will win since Pelicans is still missing the service of Brandon Ingram, while the Lakers will be playing in full force on the last game of the season. I would like to take chances here,  this game is very important for both but on the gamblers side, I think the underdog gives more value here so I'm betting on the moneyline for LA Lakers.
266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: April 14, 2024, 10:58:29 AM
After all, gambler may not necessarily be sports fan and gamblers who bet on sports may not necessarily have lot of information regarding what they are betting on.
But when you do sports betting, you should at least have an idea on what you are doing. I mean, most sports bettors should love sports, that's a basic requirement if a gambler wants to enjoy what he is doing.

There are quite lot of gamblers who only bet on sports relying on other people predictions or just carelessly because they follow other people bets.
These will be gamblers who risk money to get money and don't care about the course of the match.
That's another thing, and personally, I don't find it effective even if the person I'm following is winning, because not all the time the tipster will win and not all the time he'll give some tips. The best way to enjoy sports betting is to learn and develop the skills of sports handicapping, otherwise, we will get bored in the long run because we aren't challenge and that will lead us to leaving this type of gambling.
267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia on April 20 on: April 14, 2024, 05:57:26 AM
And it's just one week from this fight. But there are mix emotions whether tickets are going to be sold out or not. Garcia blame it all on Devin as he is not a crowd draw and it's just himself selling the fights.

On the other hand, fight is in New York, and the price is very expensive.

We will see then, if I'm not mistaken, the stadium can hold 19,000 so that is a lot of tickets to be sold.

It's just very expensive in New York. I remember checking tickets for their NBA team New York Knicks. That time the team was mediocre but the tickets are still more expensive than some of the top teams in the league.

Anyways, maybe it won't be sold out but pretty sure it should do decent PPV numbers if not great. But I do agree that Haney does not sell PPVs. Because he is obviously boring to watch. His last fight was sold out because he is a native of San Francisco. What makes a fighter really marketable is its ability to sell PPVs worldwide.

According to this article below, they are not selling well.
https://www.boxingnews24.com/2024/04/ticket-sales-for-haney-vs-garcia-a-trainwreck-in-slow-motion/

Quote
Price Drops = Panic Mode Recently, in a desperation move, DAZN dropped the PPV price from $80 to $69.99 for the Haney vs. Garcia event. But that might not be enough to save this sinking ship of the event. With 12 days to go, DAZN might need to slash the prices in half for the event to save this vessel from going under completely.

Source: Ticket Sales For Haney Vs. Garcia: A Trainwreck In Slow Motion - Boxing News 24 (https://www.boxingnews24.com/2024/04/ticket-sales-for-haney-vs-garcia-a-trainwreck-in-slow-motion/)

Haney choose Garcia to get a good PPV numbers but it seems like it's not doing well. It's different from the fight of Garcia vs Davis because both are warriors, not boring to watch in short. This fight, Haney is just too good and since he is expected to control the fight, it is also expected that it will go his way and would result to a boring fight.

First quarter belonged to the TNT, but the 2nd quarter is highly dominated by NLEX, so far.

TNT only need one quarter to beat the NLEX. 28-14 in the 4th in favor of the TNT, that's too much to give up.

Bollick is still good for NLEX but it was really Oftana who had a great night with 37 points, probably his season high. What kind of defense NLEX put into him? He couldn't score this much if they put good defense on him, and NLEX might be able to continue their win streak, but TNT is really good in clutch times as their experience had made them to be more competitive when its needed the most.

There's a chance NLEX would tie the game but the last shot attempt of Bollick wasn't properly set up, he was a bit out balance as he was bothered by the defense of Khobuntin and miss it.

Yup, Oftana got a great game seems that NLEX did not put that pressure too well and with a good touch and knowing how deadly this rising star is, you can't just ignore him and not to do a double when he's getting his rhythm, though like what you have said Bollick is really doing his best but not enough to snatch the game away from TNT.
Sometimes when Oftana is not hot, he won't score that match, What's just impressive from him is that he did it on the road where he is not too familiar with the court. This player really is something special, he is very useful in the international competition due to his height and athleticism, and have you seen his chase down block on Semerad, he didn't hit it clean but somehow it has disrupted the shot resulting to Semerad unable to convert it.

Defense anticipate that Bollick will take it and good position and anticipation for Khonuntin as he manage to bothered that last attempt from Bollick.
TNT knows Bollick would take the last shot, and they know the guy who can defend him.
269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You will lose more if you DCA without knowledge on: April 13, 2024, 11:33:03 PM
DCA can still be the worst for a newbies,  so I say newbies should stay away from DCA until they have the knowledge of the risk and approach to DCA.
I don't know how you have come up with this, but it is flat-out wrong, DCA is the best strategy for newbies and it helps to minimize the risk of trying to game the movement of market and also the risk of price volatility. There is no "special" knowledge needed to use DCA strategy and i cannot see any major risks for people who use it, i always advise newbies to use DCA strategy to purchase Bitcoin, instead of making lump sum purchases.
As far as I know, getting attached to DCA is the most effective way to accumulate bitcoin without taking so much risk. You are constantly buying at a minimal price regardless of the price of bitcoin, which enables you to store maximum amount of bitcoin by not spending your lump sum money but by consistently using your spare money to invest. With that, I have not seen any disadvantages with that even from a newbies point of view. But still, at least you should know the essence of DCA as well before you decide to practice it.
270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the current bitcoin bull run confirmed now ? on: April 13, 2024, 09:22:18 PM
It depends on how one views the market and for me, we are already in a bull market. But even though we are in a bull market, that doesn't mean bitcoin will never have a correction or decline. In a bear market there will also be times when bitcoin recovers and in a bull market there will also be significant corrections. So, don't be subjective in thinking that if we are in a bull market, bitcoin will never decline or correct.
In my opinion, when investing we just need to set goals, stick to the plan and only sell when bitcoin reaches the goal, don't think too much about when the bull season starts or when the bear season will come. I wouldn't even sell my bitcoins if things didn't go as I expected, I'm willing to wait a little longer for my investment because it's not my only source of income or investment anyway.
I have to agree. The fact that we are now seeing a consistent bullish price with bitcoin after it crossed over its previous ATH, then I must say we are actually seeing a bull run now, although the final bull run has certainly not come yet. But still, corrections are inevitable, most especially that we are almost near to bitcoin halving, then correction might be tight this time. However, what’s important is that we are seeing a new all time at the end of the day.
271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: April 13, 2024, 02:25:46 PM
I think the Lakers, Warriors, and Kings are all fighting for the last play in game spot aren't they? 2 out of 3 of those teams will not make the Playoffs. I think Lakers prob make it in personally.

This is the rules of the play in
https://www.nba.com/news/nba-play-in-tournament

Loser of 7 and 8 will face the winner of the 9 and 10.. So if the Lakers will end at the top 8 and they loss to the Suns, they still have one shot by playing the winner of 9 and 10.. So there's an advantage in finishing at 8 rather than 9 or 10.

The Lakers will need to win against the Pelicans on their last game, otherwise they'll fall below the 10th seed again if the Kings and Warriors win theirs. As far as I'm aware of, tie breakers in the NBA are head-to-head record first. So, that means the Lakers are below against the Warriors (1-3) and the Kings (0-4).
The Warriors and the Kings on the other hand is tied against each other this season, so I think there is another criteria for this to determine who's going to be in the 8th seed. I have been following the games from these 3 teams as things are getting interesting between them.

That's gonna be tough for the Lakers as the Pelicans are having a good momentum now, they were 4-0 on the road and the home game is their last game. I'm sure they'll still continue to play hard as they don't want to have a record tied with the Phoenix Suns, owning that number 6 based on record is way easier. If the Lakers will drop to the number 10, that is not good for them especially if they'll face the Warriors as Curry would not allow to lose, so it will be a 50-50 battle.

273  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I almost become a millionaire on: April 12, 2024, 10:29:31 PM
There is no problem with making mistakes, after all as they say "to err is human". The problem is when people don't learn from their mistakes. In early years it was easy to believe the propaganda and FUD about Bitcoin because it was small and too early with little adoption to know any better. But from early years till today a lot of things have changed and so should have the opinion of those who fell for the FUD.

So the only thing that you  didn't mention here is whether you learned from your mistake or not...
I surely think he learned from that but that won’t matter anymore, the real question is if he has the courage now to invest in bitcoin? Because if he hasn’t still, that’s good to say that he fail to internalize his realization with bitcoin. And he will forever carry that kind of regret.

I have also this in my mind. Even if you did invest in bitcoin years ago, but you are more than greedy and just purely focused on profits, I would say you won’t still turn into a millionaire. It takes a lot of patience and determination so you can succeed in long term hodling.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hodling or selling? on: April 12, 2024, 09:47:11 PM
How did you find the strength and patience to resist this temptation?
Please answer people who hodl not $1-2k,but at least from $20k
Make your busy, you don't have to think of selling them when you can but you don't actually need the money at that time. But don't forget to take profits when you can because that's how you make money on this market.

Resisting the temptation is that when you can think of your actual use with the money and if you truly need it.

If you don't have anything to think of and you're seeing the profit in there, you can still take the profit and convert into stable coins and wait until the dump again so you can rebuy at a lower price.
There’s no actually secrets in resisting temptation. Just set your target when to continue hodling or when to start taking profits. To be honest, it’s only rare to see people here never take part in selling because I’d know for sure that everyone here is greedy to take advantage with their big profits. What matters most is that you take time to sell when you see good profits, and you leave some of your coins for continuous hodling. At least you know  how to balance your present and future profits, and you won’t be making future regrets if ever.
275  Economy / Speculation / Re: Satoshi forces the price of bitcoin to continue to rise over time on: April 12, 2024, 09:09:38 PM
It's to slow down the supply distribution/inflation; the price increase is only a byproduct due to the decreased new supply.

And I don't know if you actually think that (though I think it's likely just language barrier), but saying "forces" is not the right word to use in this case lol.
I couldn’t agree more. Halving is a crucial event for bitcoin that majority benefit from it. And I also think the term “forces” is not well suited to be used in the thread. It’s like you are trying to create a negative vibe towards Satoshi when in reality, everything that Satoshi did creates a major benefit for everyone that develops interest in bitcoin. Bitcoin is designed to rise its value over time, no doubts about it.
276  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does trading belongs to everyone? on: April 12, 2024, 07:43:17 PM
Trading is for everyone, but they have to learn trading first. It is not easy to have good trading skills because it requires a process.

Finding coins that can generate profits is difficult, and not many people can do it. But if they have analytical skills in trading, they can find the right coin. Most people rely on other people to buy their coins, making it difficult for them to make a profit.

When trading, they must also be able to find a trusted exchange so that they do not experience fraud. If you want to buy coins from other traders or P2P traders, you have to make sure the trader is trustworthy. Everything must be confirmed first to avoid fraud and also make a profit.
Trading is not limited to certain individuals who have high knowledge and skills, as it can be for everyone who is interested to trade as long as each trader will be patient enough to learn the process. After constant exposure and experience in the market, eventually they will come to evaluate theirselves if they can still be reliable and confident in trading or they’ll just settle with the less risky which is buying and hodling.

While trading enables traders to gain significant profits, hodling as well is also capable of making it. However, it greatly depends on the coins you are hodling. But as long as it’s bitcoin, you know your long term investment will be much safer and more profitable compared to altcoins or shitcoins.

When I tried to reply to moderator on message on why the post was deleted. was blocked. That is not a professional behavior of moderator to delete the reply and block someone.
If your post was deleted, know that you defaulted. I imagine the moderators as busy individuals (if they are humans), it will be difficult for them to explain to every newbie whose post they delete because they expect you to read the rules, and observe the patterns of post made in the forum before posting and making replies.

It can be depressing as a newbie to find your post deleted, you may have a feeling of being unwelcomed, but that is not true. As a newbie, do not get discouraged because your post or reply was deleted.
Exactly. You did break a rule, that’s why you end up having your post deleted. This is a reminder to review the rules once again before posting. It may also be that your posts has been reported already by someone who has been observing your series of posts, so take a look of your previous posts as well. But one thing is certain, the moderator is just doing its job so you don’t need to take it seriously, as long as you have learned your lesson already.
278  Economy / Economics / Re: Debt Management. on: April 11, 2024, 10:57:49 PM
I will advise as many people as possible to always avoid the use of loan as an alternative means to make it in life or starting a business, such is a bad idea because many have been in debt at the cause and couldn't afford to repay back their loan, we have to learn the various means in which we can earn and save for for the future use, instead of taking loan, we may not be able to manage our debts if we are into it on a wrong approach.
Taking loan is never an option for me because I don't think I could use the fund well without being panic of how to pay for the fund. There are people that knows how to manage funds and they are very cool at that getting loan and using it to do business that would yield them more profits when used for investments purposes. Debt management is a very important one for anyone that would to monitor the way they spend and how they should track their spending which is going to give a full awareness on how to balance debt and expenses. If we know that we are not good at tracking our expenses then we need to try enough to follow the debt management.
You won’t be panicking if you have a stable source of income to rely on. Let’s say if you have a decent job or a successful business, then you won’t worry on how to keep up the payment since you have stable sources that will surely generate you good amount of profits. However, it’s still much safer not to indulge yourself in a loan. Aside that you can make a good amount of savings from your stable sources,  you won’t have to worry as well whenever you money comes in delay, as that will also add additional interest into your loan account.
279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Bitcoin the best asset for investment currently? on: April 10, 2024, 11:59:24 PM
Limited availability is great but the volatility is the biggest reason why Bitcoin becomes so much popular as an investment which we may not see in other traditonal assets for this much long and it also makes Bitcoin suitable for both short term and long term.

Bitcoin is great but one who wants to be a Bitcoin investor should enter after their research not based on someone's words.
I have to agree with you. Bitcoin’s high volatility is what makes people stay investing and get attached with it. It could be a threat for others but majority, it could be the best asset for bitcoin. Not all investments are capable to surge high and skyrocket, as some are just following a slowly upward rise, but with bitcoin, while it can make our investments value increase way too fast, it can also drop its price drastically without warning us. However, if you are knowledgeable about bitcoin and you know exactly that those risks are worth the wait, then investing in bitcoin could be the best key to financial freedom and stability.
280  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anxiety in trading (heart disease) on: April 10, 2024, 09:48:51 PM
If you realize that trading is hurting your and you take it serious then leave it because nothing is more important than your health and if your health gets effected then no matter how large sum of money you earned you will not be able to enjoy it.

If you are calm in trading and have knowledge so I think you will have no pressure of win or loss but if you cannot keep calm then it will surely effects your heart. Therefore it is better to enjoy your life with the amount of money you have because one day you will realize that a satisfied life is much better than wealthy life full of diseases.
Yes, of course it would be better for us to avoid it if it really causes us problems for our health, because if we continue to force ourselves to trade then it is very likely that we will have a lot of problems that we will face, of course we don't want this to happen. and avoiding this is certainly the right choice.

When someone already has knowledge in trading, of course they will be able to carry out analysis for trading and will be able to make the right decisions to be able to make a profit in trading and when they experience defeat, of course they will be able to remain calm and learn from the mistakes they made and correct the mistakes.
While trading can be risky and won’t be good for our health, know that it can also be learned through consistent experience. That way, we will learn how to control our emotions everytime we decide to trade. Now if we are still affected everytime we incur losses in trading and we tend to over react, and it will continue in the long run, I think we are not destined to be good and efficient traders. It’s better to change career probably, or just focus on our day job and other side hustles, and leave trading for good so that our health will be safe and emotions will be at peace.
