261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] ZenithCoin (ZTC) Now Available for Purchase!! on: September 22, 2013, 12:09:29 PM
lol, oh man, so you offer BTC, for ZTC that is held, you tax 50% of every block mined, and now you are trying to sell that tax? Yeah, no scam here. Roll Eyes

Ask the hard questions instead of screaming scam, like if these coins are from tax or not, total tax is quite easily calculated and there must be a tax account and there is a block explorer, will the income from sales be used for something benefical to the coin etc and so on. There are intelligent questions to ask or constructive arguments to be made instead of "lol", "scam" and "yeah"...

It is illogical to say that a 'mining tax' removes value from a coin.

Say you have 2 coins,  coin A which you get 50 coins per block and coin B which you get 25 coins per block and the other 25 goes to the DEVS.

So when these 2 coins hit the exchanges, assuming all being equal coin A will have twice as many coins as coin B.

However, is coin A have the same value as coin B?

Coin B could be twice as valuable or ever greater than coin B because it has a built in maintenance fund.

So even if the miner of coin A has twice as many coins,  it may not be worth as much the miner with coin B.

This is also like comparing IFC (infinite coin) where each block creates hundreds of thousands of coins....   should have millions of IFC be worth more than someone who has a few BTC?

Ultimately, does not matter how many coins you have or mine.... what matters is the value of each coin!

Complaining that a miner gets half of the coins per block is like a miner complaining that only 25 coins are created per block instead of 25,000.

Completely illogical.

price is a bit high.

Well, at least not outrageously high.   I think it is priced just about right.

Is this the coin where half the rewards go to you?

Please read the FAQ:  http://www.zenithcoin.com/?p=46

What coins influence the design of ZenithCoin?

ZenithCoin is similar to Devcoin and Freicoin, however the percentage distributions are different.    The Proof of Work scheme comes from Litecoin.

266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get BTC Mining Shares by... wait for it... mining ZTC on: September 21, 2013, 02:34:20 PM
OK i know its a risk but i see it like this, IF this BTC PoS comes out clean it will generate value for both the coinholders and Zenithcoin itself. This coin is not "cryptsy friendly" i admit that but at the same time the options right now are endless compared to most if not all other coins. Large % of the accumulted coins by the foundation can be used for maybe more PoS rewards in Zenithcoins, rest can be sold upon exchange release and those funds could be used to aquire more BTC hashing power that generate more distributed PoS in the future or whatever, options are endless right now.
One thing is for sure and that is that this coin wont be pumped, dumped and then forgotten in 3-4 months.
Is it a risk investment hashing this coin!? Yes it sure is it but im confident the risk is ALOT lower then the folks that actually did buy AndroidsToken upon Cryptsy release.  Roll Eyes
Hydroponice your just fucked up calling sceptical miners for "blind support" and screaming scam, look at your own track record, you know others like you know yourself they say...

There are more options for income generation in the future.

We are working on an exchange.... so expect additional revenue from exchange fees.
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get BTC Mining Shares by... wait for it... mining ZTC on: September 21, 2013, 04:00:54 AM

I understand that I can make more, mining straight BTC, and, you don't get half my mining efforts going into your wallet, to get dumped should this scam coin ever hit an exchange. Roll Eyes

Forum postwhore troll with "excellent" trust screams scam, its stated quite clearly in several threads and on the webpage how block shares are distributed, its no big secret.
Imagine if it was a scam of epic proportions why even introduce a PoS like this, why not keep the bitcoins in the first place, sometimes it help alot to think a little longer then your nose reaches.
Some DEV`s & community`s actually think a little more long term then the average life span of random coin introduced on this forum.
Im new to this coin, i admit im taking a risk mining it, as i do with almost any altcoin.
If you dont like it, dont mine it, a simple solution - go mine ADT, TEC or any other coin of the future you might prefer today tomorrow you jump on the next one Wink

He's paying people BTC, to mine the coin, because he gets 50% of every block mined, straight into his wallet. If it were to ever hit Cryptsy, he stands to make much more BTC then he will be paying out, when he dumps those coins. Is it really that complicated?

You still don't get it do you?   When sells their shares in an IPO, do they sell on the shares?  No, they keep a big percentage with the folks who are in the company.     Yes, I am paying folks to mine the coin.  Isn't that what all the exchanges do?  They pay for coins that are mined by miners   I am saying, if you hold on to ZTC, you get BTC shares from a 1 terahash miner that we've acquired.

These terahash miners don't come cheap.   I'm sacrificing that hash power to promote this coin.

Simple economics.

If you don't think this is a bargain, then don't bother mining.

However, if you look at all those pump and dump coins at cryptsy... you'll quickly realize that almost all of them has lost 90% of their value since they were released.  They will lose another 90% of their value in the next 3 months.   That's because most of their devs have abandoned ship and are now promoting yet another coin.

Zenithcoin by contrast has ignored the pump and dump route and focused solely on creating value for its coin holders.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What do you think is the cause of Primecoin's crash in value? on: September 20, 2013, 02:14:09 AM
People may have realized that the search for sequences of prime numbers are as relevant as find sequences of zeros in a hash.
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Acquire ZenithCoin (ZTC) Coins receive BTC mining shares! on: September 20, 2013, 12:27:30 AM
Any other plans for this coin besides mining?

Lots more.  Stay tuned!!

Still looking for a DEV who can create a merge coin.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- Seriously wealth destroying phenomenon happening at accelerated rate! -- on: September 19, 2013, 04:10:37 PM

Besides, value isn't attractive, it seems. If it were we'd see people running Open Transactions clients so they could get in on all the coins that skyrocketed far above bitcoin in value.

-MarkM-

We all know that the game is to create perceived value.  This is the game in every financial instrument that has been every created.  From stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, crypto-currencies etc.

I've never seen the value in many of the existing alt-coins otther than vehicles of speculation.

However if you do analyze all the created alt-coins, you see a common pattern:

(1) High block rate.
(2) Short time between block creation.
(3) Scrypt

There is a good reason why they are designed this way.

They are designed to accomodate mining equipment that is very rapidly becoming obsolete.

My prediction is there is going to be a burst of SHA256 coins simply because of all the obsolete 110nm and 50nm ASIC.

If you are looking for a coin with real actual value, consider ZenithCoin (ZTC).

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=295724.0

We've acquired a terra hash miner (and may acquire more) to mine BTC that will be redistributed to holders of ZTC.

The coin has actual value beyond mere speculation.

I see you are evading the actual thread about the coin, that presumably shows how much it was pre-mined and insta-mined, instead shifting focus to a bribery attempt, do such bribes actually serve to distract people from whatever dirty laundry might be hidden away in the actual launch thread of the coin?

Besides, value isn't attractive, it seems. If it were we'd see people running Open Transactions clients so they could get in on all the coins that skyrocketed far above bitcoin in value.

-MarkM-

Please do you research before making accusations about pre-mining or insta-mining.  ZenithCoin has never been pre-mined or insta-mined.

Wait, isn't this the coin, with the 50% tax, or some shit?

Yes.. If you dont understand the possible positive long term aspects of that fact i would like to point you in the direction on a random flavour of the day pump n dump coin.
These BTC mining shares will provide the best PoS ever so far in crypto history and also strenghten Zenithcoins foundation.

The miner centric pump and dump crowd just doesn't get it.

Too bad they are out of the action on this one.

Furthermore, there's no way they can retro-fit any of their pump-and-dump coins to create value like this.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get BTC Mining Shares by... wait for it... mining ZTC on: September 19, 2013, 02:33:37 PM
this is freaking awesome!!!!    Grin

love it, brilliant...

im now kicking myself in the ass for not having more ZTC  Cry

props on a bad ass idea ....

for some really odd reason i feel compelled to mine this italy coin for the first couple of days after launch, after that.. ill be mining some ZTC  Wink

You probably don't want to wait,  the difficulty is inching up.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Acquire ZenithCoin (ZTC) Coins receive BTC mining shares! on: September 19, 2013, 02:31:47 PM
I have 5000 Zenithcoin, if anyone wants to buy, make an offer

Name a reasonable price.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- Seriously wealth destroying phenomenon happening at accelerated rate! -- on: September 19, 2013, 12:15:13 PM

There is much much better profit made mining or buying coins that are NOT listed on exchanges then there is in bothering with the crapcoins whose main purpose in life is to get on an exchange so they can dump. So really the longer your coin manages to NOT get onto an exchange the better, unless your goal is simply to dump it as fast as possible and move on to something else.

-MarkM-

ZenithCoin... one case example.

BTC difficulty will be above 1,000,000,000 by February. How does this affect your calculations?

I have only control of the GHs that I can deploy.   The actual difficulty in Feb. may vary.

Whens the hardware online?

Quote
Note:  There is no need to register - ZTC and BTC addresses are the same.  All you need to do is export your ZTC address and import it into the BTC client.  Only ZTC held at the end of every month will receive the BTC proceeds!

Could you explain how to do this? I've never done it before.

on zenithcoin use dumpprivkey ...
on bitcoin use importprivkey

simple enough.

hardware is scheduled for january 2014
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Get BTC Mining Shares by... wait for it... mining ZTC on: September 19, 2013, 02:40:32 AM
so how do you import a zetacoin add to bitcoin wallet?

You meant ZenithCoin ... use the importprivkey  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_import_private_keys
