Hello, my first attempt to sign up led to loss of ability to login, I never once used my account under the first name which was Lorilikes.  I made a different account and wondered if you I would be eligible to get the .001 that I never got on the first acct.  *note - I have deposited and played a few times so it's probably strange for me to even ask.

http://coremedia.info/blockchain-news/item/892-segwit-check-what-s-next-for-bitcoin

SegWit, check. What’s next for Bitcoin?

Kanoptx
The long-awaited Segregated Witness (SegWit) update has finally been activated, although you wouldn’t know it if you were looking at a price chart. SegWit has been the main focus within the Bitcoin community and although many were expecting the price of BTC to go crazy, not much has changed in the markets.

SegWit was activated on the Bitcoin network at approximately 2:00 UTC. The first SegWit block was mined by the China-based BTCC pool. The update allows the block size limit to be replaced with a block “weight” in which each Witness data Byte is counted as 0.25 Bytes. Given that witness data accounts for nearly half of the transaction size, the SegWit upgrade will allow for a 2x increase in capacity.

Most importantly, SegWit will also fix the tx.malleability bug, paving the way for payment channels like the Lightning Network (LN) to be built on top of Bitcoin and allowing off-chain scaling solutions to be persued.

What about the price?!

So what happened? Were you also expecting a huge pump/crash? Well, Bitcoin never ceases to amaze and given the wild volatility we have all grown used to, many were actually surprised to see Bitcoin trade sideways following the update.

Bitcoin has remained fairly stable in the $4100-$4200 range with no huge spikes in volume. So what caused traders to shrug off SegWit? Well, when one looks at the huge rally that has taken BTC to the $4000 mark, it’s easy to see that SegWit was already being factored into the price.

Given that the proposal had been locked, SegWit was pretty much a sure thing. However, the scaling debate isn’t quite over yet.

What’s next for Bitcoin and BCH?

Now that SegWit is “out of the way”, there is still the 2MB hard fork that will increase Bitcoin’s transaction capacity even further, bringing it up to the equivalent of 4MB. Although this isn’t a definitive solution for Bitcoin, it will allow it to accommodate the current upsurge in user base.

267  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-08-26] CoreMedia.info - SEC Suspends Canadian Based Bitcoin Company on: August 26, 2017, 03:33:48 PM

EC Suspends Trading for Canada-based Bitcoin Firm

Nuno Teodoro
First Bitcoin Capital, a publicly traded Bitcoin firm, has been temporarily suspended by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The Canadian company is comprised of financial and technology experts with the mission of acquiring and investing in Bitcoin startups. They are also involved in a number of other cryptocurrency related business, including a network of ATMs and a Bitcoin exchange. Shares of First Bitcoin Capital (BITCF) were being traded at $1.79 on OTC market until today’s suspension, which will only be lifted September 7th.

According to the SEC, the suspension was due to concerns regarding the: “accuracy and adequacy of publicly available information about the company including, among other things, the value of BITCF’s assets and its capital structure.” This may come as no surprise, since company stock has been seeing unprecedented growth, being up up 6,072% in 2017 and a staggering 24,421% in the last 12 months.

SEC vs Bitcoin

This isn’t the first time the SEC issued a suspension on cryptocurrency-related firms. Just last month, CIAO group was suspended because of plans for an upcoming ICO.

This is just part of the continuous dismissal of Bitcoin by the SEC watchdogs. The commission has rejected several bitcoin ETF (exchange-traded fund) proposals from companies like SolidX and Grayscale. The most well known proposal, COIN ETF,  was introduced by the Winklevoss twins, internet entrepreneurs portrayed in the movie “The Social Network”.  It was rejected after careful revision by the commission, citing risks of fraud and lack of regulation in the bitcoin markets as the main reasons.

SEC Shuts Down ICOs

But now it seems the commissioner has shifted their sights on the ICO scene. Following a statement released in July, the commission express their opinions on the security of DAO tokens and how they should be regulated. The SEC announced that certain digital tokens will be considered securities, and that whoever creates or participates in unregistered offerings could be subject to criminal punishment. It also alluded to previous security incidents, like the DAO hack, demonstrating the risks involved.

Waves Is Up For Discussion Amongst China Leaders

http://CoreMedia.info/blockchain-news/item/894-waves-may-come-to-china

3rdStryker!
On August 25th, Changpeng Zhao, CEO of the new Chinese cryptocurrency exchange Binance confirmed that WAVES, the native token in the Waves Platform, may soon come to the East, “there has been a lot of requests for Waves, we will put up a vote for it soon”, he stated in slack.

The possibility of entering Binance through the aforemention vote, seems to come at a great time for the cryptocurrency. As it stands, Waves has a lot of room to grow in terms of exchange listing and trading volume. Currently, Waves is listed on only one major exchange, Bittrex. While volume is considerably high by Bittrex standards, it pales in comparison to other cryptocurrencies with similar market caps. Waves has, for a long time, been a sitting duck waiting for an exchange to tap into its potential. The reason behind this could be connected to Waves' own exchange, the DEX. However, not only was it inevitable for other exchanges to take a chunk of volume market share, there is also the potential for the volume to grow with new audiences being introduced to the coin.

Burger King Goes Crypto? Rumors Of Whoppercoin

Written by Lorilikes (Original poster wrote this )

Reports have been circulating the web regarding the newly Burger King-issued Waves token called Whopper Coin.  A Russian News Report (when translated to English Via Google Translate) states that through its designated representative, Burger King itself did issue the token. This same representative made some vague references that hinted at the possibility of having the Russian locations accept Bitcoin as payment. The hint about crypto came with promises to further reveal the details and purpose of these hyped Whopper Coins, soon.

The scarce facts:

There was definitely a token created in The Waves Platform which was allegedly done by Burger King itself. 1billion tokens were created, and are supposed to be issued to every whopper purchaser who sends a scanned receipt to a certain address which hasn't yet been revealed. The rumors cannot confirm any relation to blockchain technologies other than the fact that the tokens were created and will be issued using the Waves Platform. Waves utilizes the Waves Blockchain.

This is a Russian market experiment, at most, for now.

This is not cryptocurrency, yet. Russia is where many projects are cranking out new blockchain technology applications at regular intervals so it would not be shocking for the lunch time favorite joins the crypto craze.

With all the unexciting truths, it is evident that:

1) Burger King has a very clever marketing angle.

2) Rumors get skewed quickly and globally

3) The burger may soon replace the pizza as the most important crypto-food!

Before You Rush To Get A Burger...

IwToken: Bringing Ease-of-use and Interoperability To Crypto
Written by Kanoptx
See original http://coremedia.info/blockchain-news/item/890-iwtoken-bringing-ease-of-use-and-interoperability-to-crypto

The IwToken ICO will allow participants to be part of one of the first global crypto-services network, featuring a wide range of technologies that aim to bring crypto onto the mainstream stage.

Although cryptocurrencies are beginning to gain traction amongst traditional investors and users, there is still a lot to be done when it comes to ease-of-use and interoperability. Crypto supporters often find themselves paying extra fees or having to exchange their coins due to this same problem, something that may keep actual users away.

Focused on making cryptocurrencies a part of users’ everyday lives, the IwToken plans to create an ecosystem comprised of integrated services and technologies, universal wallet, an ATM network, and more, allowing several cryptos to be used in a wide range of use cases. The white paper reads:

“We highly believe cryptocurrencies will keep gaining the place they deserve and start to be used more frequently, for everyday transactions all across the world, used just as a payment for a service like buying something at a supermarket, making a high net worth transaction between two entities or just for sending some money from you to a friend or a family member who might be in another city.”

Starting with the feature that gave IwToken its name, the integrative wallet will allow its users to hold all available cryptocurrencies/tokens in the space providing encrypted json files for the users’ private keys blocking off any attack vectors that could be opened up to cyber criminals or to the wallet creators themselves.

The S.E.C. Crashed The I.C.O. Party, How Will the Fun Continue?

Lorilikes
-A closer look at the Howey test and a few thoughts on how the I.C.O. Trend will be affected.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently made public its intention to assess and regulate certain crowd funding projects known in the crypto-space as ICO’s or Initial Coin Offering. Similar to IPOs, Initial Coin Offerings consist of campaigns where newly-issued cryptocurrencies or tokens are sold to initial project backers for BTC, altcoins or fiat.

The SEC has a narrow job description which is to protect investors, to maintain fair and tidy markets, and to promote and regulate the formation of capital. They are in position with the purpose of preventing another extreme financial crisis like The Great Depression which the USA endured during the 1920’s and part of the 1930s.

Of course many generations have come and departed since the Great Depression, but when the earliest scars of the Depression formed atop the financially wounded,  thicker skin was the result, and The SEC was born. It is needless to say the SEC is a sincere, but stern bunch.

When the crypto-community began to loudly buzz with various, highly profitable ICO’s,  the SEC was made aware of the trend, and quickly issued a public bulletin announcing an investigation, with some warnings and...

Is Bitcoin really secure? Well, let's just say, cryptographically yes yes and yes.
A problem arises in security most often when a disgruntled or despearate boyfriend or girlfriend a jealous
hear or a mean streak, or a crazed gambler has your codes, back ups and an iq over 10 don't worry but keep
up your guard no matter what to be prepared if needed.,
275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most amount of bitcoin you ever had? on: August 18, 2017, 07:11:39 AM
This is such a simple question yet I have never seen it asked so plainly.  Nice way Tom
Bring and original, relevant question to the same ol same ol. Good job op!

That being said the most in my vault ever ... was 12 btc and it was mine for only a very short time.
Those of you voting with 3000 bitcoin. how about just sending 5 or 10 of them this way to start my business in motion. Wrong place wrong time , my bad.

Do you believe the FBI holds the biggest number of bitcoin?

How would we know?  How certain are they?  We can't tell because nobody/no one would say how many bitcoins he/she has on his/her hands Tongue

I would not rule it out necessarily ... but I have a hunch that it's not
Really a conspiracy after all.  I sincerely believe in the decentralization
Of money and fbi can't be manipulating our peer to peer beauty-the beloved
Bitcoin.  I don't want it to be true.  So it isn't.
