261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: USELESS HEATER : ANTMINER D3 , WHAT IS NEXT ? on: November 04, 2017, 11:50:00 PM
So every body accept they sold miners which are useless and can not make any profit.
So everybody should remember ,at least, BITMAIN is a company that fools its own clients sometimes . Dont trust this company because they can sell you some ultra expensive heaters, if you are not lucky.. And there is no sense comparing this company with amd or nvidia, mostly they sold general purpose gpu which means you can play at least game or etc.. but asic miner is MINER , and MINER means makes profit. So no body will run any miner if there is loss. This is so clear but some how some BiTMAIN partners trying to protect their company...

I made a few points about what bitmain did wrong. Im not protecting bitmain im just stating some facts that the buyer should had been more aware of if they did their own research and how the way they mined
Is partly responsible for the tiny profits today. A lot of the blame was in the demand, and bitmain fulfilled that demand, eventually but too much and we are mainly to blame for that because a lot of people didn't do enough research. Around 1500 is not as bad a deal if that's what you paid, better then 2700. If you bought any batches for late November and onwards  you should have done more research. Innosilicon was far worse, 10k and delayed shipping they are truly screwed. Not every investment is guaranteed  to make a profit. There most likely won't be another x11 miner for a long time so everyone who is stuck with these things have plenty of time to earn, to hold their coins, sell their coins in the far future when it doubles or triples , or sell their miners to others with cheaper electricity ( even if its at a small loss ) or you can get cheaper electricity yaself.
Mining is an investment but it's less risky then some. I'd rather own a d3 now then enron stock in '01 . X11 profits sucks now but in the future anything can happen that increases those profits. You just have to be patient.
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon A5 DashMaster 30.2G 750W on: November 04, 2017, 10:59:27 PM
These guys are the worst, they actually advertised that these would be profitable for 2 years. They did disclose that shipping could be delayed,  or have altered specs, but they made false accusations that enticed buyers when they most likely knew bitmain was releasing their miners only hours later. There should be a class action against them and their price was the worst thing about these.
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: USELESS HEATER : ANTMINER D3 , WHAT IS NEXT ? on: November 04, 2017, 10:31:53 PM
Bitmain used their references, history or good feedbacks to sell D3 . And if a miner is already useless before delivery  this is clearly fraud. Because they are not innosilicon or whatever else, and i am not only one who bought d3 , old bitmain clients also bought d3 .Because company created trust , then used this for fraud.

Ok what is next , so many people lost money due to this company's latest action , is there any one have an any idea what to do?

People made a financial investment in a product that COULD make a roi. Bitmain over delivered on the specs and even shipped early on some orders. They never promised any definitive profit. They gave a great price compared to some companies  ( although  the first and second batch was too much but at least they came to their senses on the third and after). They cant choose how you sell your dash. They cant choose to only sell to sophisticated investors.Yes they made too many miners with too many batches but this is what businesses do they make money. Their website issues also fueled the demand making the d3 buying frenzy worse. I bet if all these disgruntled customers  hypothetically owned stock in bitmain or amd or nvidia then they wouldn't be complaining as much. People were warned on these forums about how these machines won't be worth it with the expecting difficulty  increases and yet they were laughed at and accused of downramping to acquire more of the miners for themselves.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: USELESS HEATER : ANTMINER D3 , WHAT IS NEXT ? on: November 04, 2017, 10:04:02 PM
There won't  be a new x11 miner for a long time. Even if a manufacturer  makes something twice as efficient  and twice  as fast it won't matter cause they know the network is stuffed and consumers have no confidence anymore in the algo. X11 Multipools that payout in anything but dash are also to blame but we should count our blessings as all these payouts in btc have helped the btc price get to where it is today. Free heating is still free, just get used to wearing ear muffs.
265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HW error Antminer D3. on: November 04, 2017, 10:36:26 AM
I doubt that helps , try lowering the difficulty, keep it cool 24/7 maybe the Temp spikes well above 72 sometimes but 72 is fine. Some pools make it worse. Lower chip frequency as last resort.
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKAL Giant X10 brief introduction on: November 01, 2017, 11:14:59 PM

baikal sells ASIC hardware at high price sometime (Giant+), and at low price sometime (Giant X10)...

Has anyone been quoted a price on these by Baikal?

I sent an email but haven't had a reply ...

1400  if Baikal want to really move these their next algos must be something that they can dominate but not skyrocket the new algo s difficulty so much that it makes profits worthless.

When they ship out?

Dec 20 to 30
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to improve the efficiency of Mining on: November 01, 2017, 10:17:18 PM
Keep your miner cooler. Remove dust. Choose stratum servers closer to you. If you have slower internet and download/ upload at lot at high speeds, then use QoS in modem settings to prioritise internet traffic to your miners. Avoid unreliable or overloaded pools.
268  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: antminer d3 HW counts on: November 01, 2017, 10:07:08 PM
temps are 55, 63 and 3rd one is running very hot 75- 78 idk what's happening.
I'll try to update the firmware thank you for your advise. Can i back up my original firmware?

Run your fans faster ,try to keep chip temps at 70 and below , machine will last longer and will help keep hw errors down. Down clock frequency speed if major issues continue. Firmware update doesn't always fix this. Changing pools and difficulty levels can help.

270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: November 01, 2017, 09:48:01 PM
Why did the mining profitability for DASH went down so much? Was this only about more hashpower added to the network and price drop or there was halvening or other coin adjustments involved?

Profits went down cause people mine dash but get paid out in btc. This lowers dash price. If people got paid in dash and hold it price will go up. The hashrate from these new miners is too much for the x11 network , raising difficulty too much.
271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 hardware modifications thread (voltage & fan mods) on: November 01, 2017, 09:34:31 PM

The antminer D3
As an owner of the October batch of the antminer D3 I have good news. I now run my antminer D3 stable @ 15Gh/s with just 750 watts.  Cool
I decided to go for a mod, because I couldn't run the fans at full speed because of the noise. Therefore I could only run 13 Mh/s @ 850 watts before the mod, which is now not very profitable. Cry

The mod:
To get there I tried to reverse engineer the power circuit of the antminer D3 mining boards. Unfortunately there is some chip which I still don't know the specs from (labeled ADP BDY+), but I found out it's controlling the PWM of the mosfets.
So I tried changing the resistors around it and found out that changing the resistor R80 controls the voltage. Woop Woop Grin
So if you want to do the mod I advice to replace R80 by a 25k ohm potentiometer. The voltage can be measured over C948

Improvement:
without the mod the total voltage supplied to the asic chips is fixed @ 8.15v on the October batch. That means 1300 watts for 19Gh/s
After the mod the voltage is fully adjustable by using the potentiometer. It also allows to increase the voltage for overclocking if you want to do so.
But overclocking is not my goal, I wanted a silent miner: Therefore I now run my boards @ 7.1v @ 430 Mhz stable. That means 750 Watts for 15Gh/s
That is 50 instead of 68 watt per Gh/s  Cool

Photos
The mod is quite easy if you have some proper soldering skills, but it's tricky if you don't have the proper tools / not have a steady hand...

ps. I will make new higher res zoomed pics soon.

Other possible mods:

Fan mod: (only when undervolting)
as I don't like that noise at all I also did some fan mods. I added a voltage regulator on one of the fans to decrease the noise during startup. cgminer won't allow you to go bellow 5000rpm othwerwise the miner fails to start.
Furthermore I replaced the second fan with a 2000rpm silent fan. To make this work you have to use the yellow wire (fan rpm) from the first fan as wire for the 2nd fan. Otherwise it detects a too low fan speed on the second fan.
I can say that running both fans @ 2000 rpm is acceptable to run it in a living room now.

Power supply mod: (only when undervolting)
By default the power supply runs @ 12.2v. I used the potentiometer inside to make it run @ 12.05v. This saves a few watts of power as well. Furthermore I added a regulator on the fan, to run it at 5v as this  small fans makes an annoying high frequency noise when running at full speed.

Support
I hope this information does inspire you and help you improve the efficiency on the antminer D3. I hope to improve the mod: as I want to look into a software mod to enable changing the voltage from software. This would really open up the possibilities for all the users.
To get there I still look for a copy of the November miner firmware as bitmain is not supplying this yet. If one can login using ssh and make a full copy of the all the files that would be really welcome.

Support on this mod project is more than welcome as I want to have a spare D3 for modding the software. A (damaged) donor D3 or S9 would be very welcome as well, as this baby really needs some mods too Smiley

Impressive, well done. Undervolting would void the warranty prob like with oc.

Batch 2 sold out yet?
Sold out already, but delivery time move to Dec, not yet confirm

Dec 20 to 30 is delivery date, did it sell out in the last 24 hours? So you confirm their sold out?

Would be great if they would accept crypto as payment...

They actually accept crypto for shipping cost...

wondering what the rest two algorithms would be? .... since X13, X14, and X15 are out of option...
Blake 2B? LBRY? X11Gost? Pascal? or NeoScrypt? or Lyra2REv2?

I would prefer Blake 2B, which would be 6 month before Sia ASIC by Sia team... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes not bad

What two algorithms you guys are perfer to see Grin Grin?

Both blakes or Groestl

unless they start accepting btc or dash , Im staying away from baikal

that wire transfer stuff got one of my bank accounts blacklisted

Blacklisted for what? What country u in?
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: X10 Baikal announed 2 new algorithym on: October 31, 2017, 07:58:57 AM
Does anyone know if Groestl and myriad-groestl are what the x10 mines or just myriad-groestl.
277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: October 24, 2017, 10:37:19 PM
Hello !

I have received 2 Antminer D3 today.

The fans are on "auto" mode, but one of my D3 has a very high temperature for one of the chip (chip 3, 91° C)
On the other D3, the chip number 3 is around 86° C.

Is it to high or it's ok ?

The PCB goes from 60 to 70° C max.

Thank you for your answer !

disconnect your miner and give each a little shake, if u hear rattling that isn't the boards themselves then its prob a loose heatsink. What is the room temp?
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: October 24, 2017, 08:28:59 AM
Would someone be able to suggest me a nice PSU that works with the D3? Something around $200? Thanks

I use Dell AHF-2DC-2100W with my Antminers (with self-made cables). Very good PSU.

Thanks! I'll see if i can find that somewhere. The problem is with PCI connectors i can't figure out how many of those i need :p

D3 need 10 Connector. So make sure your PSU have the POWER and Connector

Guys I've been out this thread for a while followed the first 150 pages, so please excuse me if this has been answered.

Is there a reason to keep the D3 does the X11 have anything exciting incoming ? or will they release a firmware update for allowing other algos to be mined?

Yes, it makes a noisy heater for winter, Helium will be on x11 it will be new, its impossible to upgrade the d3 for other algos.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Rig, D3, L3+, or S9s where would you invest and why? on: October 19, 2017, 04:42:53 AM
So today is October 18th 2017.  Was wondering if the list below has stayed the same or if there have been some changes.

CryptoCrane basically said it all, but I would add GPU rigs in the list like this.

(Best)
AntMiner L3+
AntMiner D3
Nvidia rig(1060/1070/1080Ti)
AMD rig(RX470/570/48/580)
AntMiner S9
(Worst)

The reason I take Nvidia over AMD is that it does better on more algorithms than AMD. AMD is only unfairly good at ethash coins because of its price and power draw. Other than that, it's just like shit.
PS: If you can't get the GPUs at a cheap price, don't even bother.

S9 shouldn't be last now, time will tell if bitcoin gold improves nvidias profitability.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Calling all Dash Miners, Let's Work on Combining our Resources to Create a .... on: October 19, 2017, 04:24:09 AM
New inexperienced miners don't know how to hold their coins, they are likely to have little to no experience in trading. They prob just sell at market price instead of holding and selling on the peaks. X11 Pools that payout in anything but dash won't be helping.
