261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think DOGECOIN is the future of Altcoins ? on: May 09, 2017, 08:58:01 AM
The first 3 letters of the coin say it all.

2016 was the year of ICOs
2017 will be the year of solid coins like BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP, XMR, ZEC

There is no room for hundreds of coins.

I disagree with your selection of "solid" coins but I agree with your sentiment, there isn't room for a million different coins with big market value. More likely there will be a select few then a bunch of niches where they are meant to be used in specific segments of the industry (like gamecredits) but the niches will never gain the big market value of the select few coins.

That being said, dogecoin all the way  Tongue
262  Economy / Economics / Re: If you were in desperate need for money.... on: May 09, 2017, 08:12:13 AM
To tell you honestly, I am now relating to this because I'm at the worst point of my life now. It all started when my sister booked me and my family for an expensive vacation without my permission and it's going to be a couple of days away, and I am forced to pay for a grand total of $200+. My dreams were shattered because of that compulsory and forced payment whether I like it or not, because I have a goal during that time.

The reason I have a financial problem is this:

I have a debt for a grand total of $200 from my freelance work and I want to refund them because I don't think I can do it anymore. I am not motivated to do this type of work anymore, and I want myself to be free from this mess by paying this debt. I don't want to work with them anymore, so I have to refund them as long I can come up with this amount. The problem is that I only have a very limited income source and was down to less than $100 in my bank account for survival. I lose money paying bills, compulsory contributions, personal expenses, etc. Plus, my parents aren't supporting me anymore financially. My sisters had their own stable jobs, so I'm the poorest member of the family.

I'm not planning to look for an 8 to 5 job because even if I'm poor, I can't see myself working to make my boss rich and not me. Freelancing is okay for me because of time flexibility and no time-in and time-out card. Entrepreneurship is in my blood.

This is what I am going to do as I'm desperate in money now.

1. I sold my 2-year old basic phone for $2 only (I'm not using it anyway because it's worn out, and yes it was sold). I will plan to sell old stuff in my house for a few bucks just to survive.
2. Will plan to deposit 200,000 satoshi to my BTC wallet and follow a proven Bitsler method I learned from Youtube without being greedy that could potentially earn me up to $48/day. I can afford to lose this anyway. Still waiting for their confirmation.
3. Finished my writing gig and earned $20 today, and I'm writing another one for $10. I'm offered a weekly gig. - DONE
4. Planning to sell my 2-year old unused Warrior Forum account, but still looking for buyer.
5. Planning to sell my 5-year old League of Legends account with Ultimate and Legendary skins (PH server), but still looking for buyer. I'm playing SMITE and Paladins now, so I'm lazy and not planning to play League of Legends anymore.
6. I'm in a health industry, so I'm selling quality vitamins. I have 3 sets left in me and could give me up to $15 in profit per sale. Since the market here in my area are only on a low budget, I would offer to sell them piece by piece. Even if I'm in a vacation, I would bring my vitamins to sell it (not hard selling) to tour guides or meet new people there.
7. I wanted to loan but I have no reputation here yet and no collateral to offer. My parents, sisters and friends would not lend me because they're still looking at my past and thinking that I am still the same guy as before. If not, I may ask for donation for those people with a good heart to help, no matter how small the amount is.

You say Entrepreneurship is in your blood and that's great, but most people get their capital to start their entrepreneurial things from a 8 to 5 job.

From the sounds of it you are from the Philippines and your English is perfect, what kind of Freelance work did you do? Because you can do Freelance work as a virtual assistant with your language abilities and it would earn much more than the sums you have been talking about here.

Selling your online assets like your account in LoL is a good short term solution but it doesn't offer you long term stability, the same for selling your vitamins. Bitsler methods also don't work $48/day is a pipedream. Writing gigs sounds like your only decent longer term solution plan to your problems. I've been in your kind of mess and it doesn't get better with short term solutions, in the end you will either end up doing that 8 to 5 job you hate the idea of or you will become a mooch on other people.
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex Huge Security Issue on: May 08, 2017, 12:16:57 AM
The most curious thing is that even with all that volume they still can't seem to afford servers that don't lag.  Roll Eyes

You don't pristine servers like that overnight no matter how much money you throw at it. They have however been improving substantially, but I think they were ultimately a victim of their own success. Too many new people and spam bots etc

I definitely don't see the big lags now that happened in previous months, not in nearly at the same level. They also need to plan for even the most extreme circumstances, if their user numbers double/triple again and there is a big push.
264  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Class action lawsuit for Poloniex on: May 08, 2017, 12:09:17 AM
Definitely wasn't make or break, but I've certainly been transitioning most of my assets out of Polo because of this and some other oddness I've seen there for the last month+.

They can't be beat for liquidity, but I can't imagine they're not complicit to some extent in market manipulation.

I personally don't believe they are complicit in market manipulation, I think they are just a victim of their own success. However your reaction is the right one in my opinion and OP's wanting to sue them when they haven't done anything illegal is wrong. If you are unsatisfied with Polo transition your assets to another exchange, then they will either have to adapt and become better or another exchange will. As for liquidity even though Polo is the best there are certainly good options available depending on the asset.
265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your biggest bitcoin regrets? on: May 07, 2017, 03:04:14 PM
I never got scammed or lost anything, I guess my biggest regret would be giving up on bitcoin for a time after the mtgox crash. It all seemed like the end and I forgot about bitcoin for over a year before coming back.
266  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ► Bitstamp.net sucks ◄ ► They closed my account without any reason ◄ on: May 07, 2017, 12:18:48 PM
That's unfortunate to hear, bitstamp has always been one of the few exchanges I trust. The good thing is they gave you your money back, however taking a fee for it is wrong on their part, that is where you have a legitimate complaint.
267  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is no longer a currency on: May 07, 2017, 08:45:58 AM

That is why it is good to hold bitcoin so we will not missed any kind of rally for the price. If the price of bitcoin goes down then hold it and don't sell it and the best thing to do in that situation is to just continue to add more and more bitcoin in that amount so if another rally starts then you can easily get a lot of profit because you took advantage from buying cheap bitcoins. Don't sell like other already did because they didn't realize their possible profit in the future.

Bitcoin is the result of modern technology, like credit cards. Bitcoin makes it easier for many people to make financial transactions. Bitcoin is much better than currency.

Until there are suitable scaling issues bitcoin will never be currency. It is currently suffering from politics that people suggested bitcoin would be immune to, but alas it is not, everyone will fight over control of anything with value in this world.

That being said its not necessarily a bad thing if bitcoin is like some form of asset that is rarely transacted, at least for most hodlers its a good thing.
268  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many ways are there to earn bitcoins? on: May 07, 2017, 08:00:26 AM
Just a general reply, once btc fixes its scaling issues there will be billions of ways to earn btc only limited by ones own imagination.

Right now faucets are worthless, and most other free things are worthless unless you are well known, signature campaigns are ok, but generally you have to invest because there is no free lunch.
269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Matchpool - Bounty Thread only on: May 07, 2017, 07:53:44 AM
The market will survive short dumps and recover better than before, we all need good opportunities to buy cheaply.
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: WINGS ★ Where DAO Unicorns Are Born! ★ Token launched! on: May 07, 2017, 07:00:03 AM
Every coin right now is flying, I wouldn't use their rise as an argument to why its a good investment, rather discuss its fundamentals.

272  Economy / Economics / Re: Switzerland as a bitcoin haven on: May 07, 2017, 06:12:26 AM
I don't buy into the theme people spout of governments hating bitcoin, that being said any paradise type country with a beach will become a bitcoin haven with people retiring on their big bitcoin earnings. Countries that are cheap by Western standards in particular will be popular destinations and these countries are also adopting bitcoin for practical reasons, remittances are cheaper in bitcoin even with the current high fees than they are with traditional remittance companies.
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: will be wings next stratis coin? on: May 07, 2017, 05:57:33 AM
Stratis has a future, however I haven't yet heard of WINGS and too many ICO's with little substance are getting funded so I would be extremely careful.
274  Economy / Economics / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Will Replace Dollar Soon? on: May 07, 2017, 05:38:00 AM
Bitcoin can't even fix its scaling issues currently, replacing the dollar is a distant dream at best. It needs many things including instant transactions, extremely low fees, and the ability to be used without a connection. Many people are even starting to see bitcoin more as a gold of sorts, a store of value but not useful for daily transactions.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ETH overtake BTC in market cap? on: May 07, 2017, 05:30:29 AM
Perhaps, the thing is ETH seems to be riding btc's wave (or is btc also riding ETHs wave?), however if the scalability issues get resolved on bitcoin it will surge in way ahead of ETH. Not because it offers more but because its first, everyone even the average person knows what bitcoin is but not ETH. That could quickly change if btc fails to innovate, especially when ETH can do more.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think DOGECOIN is the future of Altcoins ? on: May 07, 2017, 05:19:14 AM
All you haters just don't realize doge is going to the moon, it IS the future of altcoins.

Think of all the innovations it provides and all the things it does that no other coin can do or replicate. This is definitely the coin of the future.
277  Economy / Economics / Re: The dream of getting rich with bitcoins on: March 31, 2017, 05:16:37 AM
The gold moment to be able to get rich with bitcoin has gone for the most, unless you wanna to start a big farm, or have a big capital to risk into daily trading. Its more easy to get rich with altcoins at the moment then with bitcoin that has reached a big part of its potencial already, still being possible but altcoins does offer the best opportunities.

Some bitcoin supporter, I mean true supporter will not even touch those toxic altcoins however for speculant like us then getting into altcoins are much better. There are so many true supporter that are rich from bitcoin so there is no use for them to even think about getting into altcoins anymore

You can support both altcoins as well as bitcoin, they complement each other. A lot of true bitcoin supporters that got rich off it have gone on to go big into certain altcoins.
278  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's price is so volatile right now! Why should I even hold? on: March 31, 2017, 05:10:05 AM
The alternative would probably be to day trade if you were after speculative short term profit but that really isn't too convenient or even accessible for people holding bitcoin as a store of value. Holding certainly isn't for everybody but doing so after buying (instead of actively buying and selling) would actually help reduce overall volatility.

Day trading with bitcoin to bitcoin is not even profitable unless you have a huge capital which is very risky, Although it will be a different story if its altcoin trading cause altcoins are way more volatile than it. Volatility has its advantages and disadvantages it will just depend on the person who's trading on how he will take advantage of it . If you find yourself panicing every single time bitcoin decreases greatly, Then this market is not for you .
Volatility is in the basic information about bitcoin and alts so it should be expected that there will be a ups and downs greatly .

Day trading can be profitable on bitcoin if you are on an exchange with 0 fees. As for volatility it should decrease in time as bitcoin gets more widely adopted.
279  Economy / Speculation / Re: price went up, opportunity to buy cheap is now lost on: March 31, 2017, 04:59:42 AM
Volatility will always bring cheap coins again, however I always enjoy talk of "cheap" coins since the "expensive" coins today can easily be the cheap coins of tomorrow regardless of whether its priced at 100, 1000 or 10000. Meaning its hard to define what the current "cheap" is and when its passed.
280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When I talk to NON-BitcoinTalkers they don't know.. on: March 31, 2017, 04:52:24 AM
Most people I talk to may have heard of bitcoin but have no idea how to get any. In fact, most of them don't know what bitcoin is.

Which is a great leap up from just a few years ago when most people hadn't even heard of bitcoin.

As for not knowing how to get any I agree and to add to it one problem with your average person is that it is either too complicated to use or perceived as such so a lot of people never bother trying. It is still in the geeky phase right now but maybe this situation will change again after a few years.
