2601  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: April 01, 2023, 08:04:59 AM

2602  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: April 01, 2023, 07:42:11 AM
Ma ovo mi izgleda ko 1. April.

2603  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN] Re-Launch Sinbad Signature campaign | Reward up-to $350/w on: April 01, 2023, 07:31:55 AM
Hi Royse777,
I have two questions.

1. Do I need to change my avatar to the one in the OP or is this one I am wearing still ok? We had two choices in the previous campaign, and I picked the other one.
2. What's the situation with the current week that started on Thursday and was supposed to run until Wednesday? Is that no longer valid starting from tomorrow because the new week is now Sunday til Saturday?
2604  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: April 01, 2023, 07:20:35 AM
Ne znam i dal ste morali odigrat forumsku verziju Flappy birda prije postanja - neka verzija captche.
Može i bez igranja captcha igrice. Ali treba pohvaliti igricu i njene šarolike mogućnosti. Šta god pritisneš ptica padne i izgubiš.
2605  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: April 01, 2023, 07:12:28 AM

Nove tjedne isplate izgledaju ovako:

We have 2x Sr. Member positions open, apply now!

U TrustDice kampanji imaju dvije slobodne pozicije za Full Membere.

We have 2x Full Member positions open, apply now!
2606  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ledger nano with electrum - from old to new PC on: March 31, 2023, 06:05:09 PM
How come every single hardware wallet except ledger doesn't have any similar issues like this?
I can only speak about the devices I have or which I have used for a while, not about what I don't have or know. Trezors function in a different way. You don't install individual crypto apps on them like you do on a Ledger, so it isn't comparable. You enable and disable support for assets through the Trezor Suite.

There is no improvements in shitcoin blockchains, I don't think Doge was ever seriously updated for years, and same thing for bch, so nothing changed.
There is literally zero new features with this bigger size apps...
Again, I can't comment on things I don't know about. What changed with the apps is something you can check personally if you know how to. Ledger's crypto apps are open-source, and many of them are created by the devs of the various crypto projects, not Ledger and their team. I don't have the knowledge to read and understand code and I don't think you have either. Such assessment are better left to those who know. Best case scenario: get someone to do it for you, and prove that they are maliciously inflating the app sizes if you can.

...it's just one more way to force people to switch from model s to other newer models.
As a Ledger Nano S user, it's not working on me. If someone is susceptible by outside factors, it's their problem.
2607  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Most Durable Hardware Wallets on: March 31, 2023, 05:47:40 PM
I've seen some of the videos on the links the OP listed. The conclusion I got from several tests, especially for minor incidents that usually occur, such as falling or being splashed with water, is that the hardware wallet in the form of a smartcard is more durable.
That's because it's not really a hardware wallet. It's a debit/credit card with hardware wallet functionalities. It's an unfair comparison from the start in weight, design, hardware components, everything. You don't throw a human and ladybug off of a balcony to see which one suffers the most damage. We now the winner beforehand.

The condition after being used for a long time: Re: Show off your hardware wallet.
Looks fine to me, which leads to the conclusion that you know how to take care of your belongings.
2608  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Want to see what it takes for your favorite crypto to hit it's ATH? on: March 31, 2023, 01:48:23 PM
Interesting site. I don't remember ever coming across a similar one that performs the same calculations.

A few suggestions:

- Your market cap and contact tabs are empty. The contact tab says to get in touch with you if I have any inquiries, but how when there is no email address or contact form?
- I noticed that you have some news articles at the bottom of the page. It would be a good idea to also add a tab or a button at the top that takes you directly to the news section.
- A useful feature would be to show the users who searched for certain coins news articles specifically concerning those assets. So if I performed a search on Monero, for example, I could see recent news about it.
2609  Economy / Gambling / Re: betzus.com ♠Crypto + Fiat Online Casino , Sportsbook , Slots , Games [Big Bonus] on: March 31, 2023, 01:28:51 PM
The information in your OP might create some confusion among the readers.
It says you are offering a deposit bonus of up to 1 BTC. At the same time, the sentences that follow explain that the deposit bonuses for the first four deposits is up to 1.5 BTC, and a 100% matched deposit bonus. The info on your official webpage regarding the welcome bonus doesn't mention the matched deposit. You might want to ensure that the same data is present across all sources.
2610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can Bitcoin wallet be traced by IP address? on: March 31, 2023, 12:54:36 PM
Don't forget the massive surveillance coming from social media companies. Their spyware is included in many websites, and even if you don't use social media, they track you for advertising purposes.
Sure, but since they target anything and everything that breathes, I didn't think it was important to mention it specifically for the purposes in the OP. They could become a major threat in the future though. Can you imagine Facebook and Instagram with its spyware helping governments identify users who participate in crypto activities in whatever form they deem illegal? I can.

But that's something we will have to worry about far, far in the future. A future where we will have to use programmable money and take vaccines every 3 months. And we wont be able to leave our home or enter a restricted city district. Cameras everywhere recording our every movement, and armed police asking for ID, proof of address, and proof of vaccination... oh wait...
2611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why use Bitcoin mixers? on: March 30, 2023, 06:19:05 PM
I've always been curious to know. What if inheriting someone else's history creates trouble? As a result of covering the tracks in the mixer, you will get someone else's thread with a dark history that will lead to you. Even despite the fact that you are not personally involved and have nothing to do with it.

Is this even possible?
You are talking about dirty/clean coins and taint which is not something we as bitcoiners should accept as any kind of standard. There is no such thing as dirty BTC. There is only dirty BTC from the position of the oppressors (governments and their blockchain analysis conspirators). When you issue someone a € or $ banknote, it doesn't go through an inspection for taint, nor do you need to explain the history of it. The same rules must apply to Bitcoins.

Back to your question. It's possible that you could "run into trouble" with your newly acquired coins depending on what you do with them. Certain centralized exchanges could freeze your coins if they notice a history with crypto casinos and sportsbooks. Therefore, you don't even have to be in possession of stolen coins or crypto that originates from illegal businesses. People have had coins frozen on CEXs that have come from mixers or Wasabi coinjoins. I read a discussion not so long ago where a person who bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of crypto had all of it confiscated on a CEX because he couldn't pass AML requirements and explain the origin.
2612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running a node and NTFs on cores. on: March 30, 2023, 06:08:27 PM
Bitcoin SV is not Bitcoin. I thought you said you were trying to run a Bitcoin node. Bitcoin SV is a fork, but it's not a fork of the original Bitcoin. It's a fork of Bitcoin Cash, which in turn forked from Bitcoin. You are trying to run a copy of a copy.

This support child forum is for help with the real Bitcoin and Bitcoin-related issues and inquiries. You have either made a mistake and you are trying to setup the wrong type of software, or you have opened this discussion in the wrong place.
2613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: invalid transaction? Stuck? on: March 30, 2023, 02:07:01 PM
if it's for having a very low fee rate, it may not be intentional but with today's average mempools size, even 1sat/vB shouldn't be evicted from most mempools.
That was the case in pre-ordinals times. I am sure it's all messed up since January, and (some, many, all, no idea how many) nodes are purging transactions to free up space. For example, mempool space currently shows that anything below 2.10 sat/vByte is getting purged.
2614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can Bitcoin wallet be traced by IP address? on: March 30, 2023, 01:53:29 PM
A lot of it depends on your ISP. It's safe to assume that the ISP can see everything you browse on the clearnet unless you are using a VPN, socks, or TOR. But if you mask your IP, they will then know (if they want to) that you are using a VPN or TOR. They won't know what you do with it though. Unless you are a wanted criminal or the government targets you specifically, this should be enough for them to stop looking. They would have to contact the VPN provider and request information about you to see your logs. Government personnel aren't going to do that randomly or just for fun.

Who else can see and log your IP address?
The software and the servers you connect to. You use Trust Wallet, and they can see it. But even if you use Electrum, some parties can still log your IP. Not Electrum as a brand, but the individuals who run the servers (nodes) you connect to. They can see your IP address, connected addresses, and wallet balance.
2615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why use Bitcoin mixers? on: March 30, 2023, 01:36:05 PM
Here is a simple comparison to fiat alternatives.

If I know your PayPal address, I have no idea how much money you have in your account. I don't know your connected bank account/debit card or the history of your account.
I also know nothing about your account balance if I know your IBAN number. I would have to work for PayPal or the corresponding bank to have more information about you and your money. That means that everything is private between you and your financial service providers.

But Bitcoin is a public ledger. If I know your BTC address, I can see how many coins you have. I can see when the coins were deposited into your address and from where. If you aren't careful with coin control and you reuse addresses or consolidate funds, I can find out a lot about you and your wallet. That's not something you want people to know.

A mixer breaks that link. It's like a bingo cage. Everyone puts their balls into the machine, it spins, and each participant gets a different ball. You wipe out the history of your coins and inherit someone else's.
2616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running a node and NTFs on cores. on: March 30, 2023, 01:14:45 PM
We don't know what you did previously.
OP seems reluctant in sharing the exact steps he did so far. It just wastes his own time in getting his node up and running and causes everyone to guess if it's this or that. The only useful piece of information we have is that something (hopefully a legit Bitcoin Core software) displayed a warning message saying his device can't run the software.

The proper way to ask for help would be:

I did this,
1.
2.
3.
etc.

- I followed these setup tutorials (list them)
- I downloaded this software from here (link)
2617  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ledger nano with electrum - from old to new PC on: March 29, 2023, 04:38:05 PM
Maybe that is true for latest version, but I am hearing complains from other people that apps for other coins increased a lot in size, for example BCH shitcoin app increased around 15 to 20 times.
I have never used any of those Bitcoin-dependent apps on my Ledger, so I don't know what size they were in the past. I think they should be pretty small though, like a few kbs only because they take most of the code from the Bitcoin app. Looking at the app sizes for BCH or DOGE right now, I can see they are 36 kb. Seems pretty big. So I guess that information you got was correct.

Still, I have never seen any logic complaining about the size of an app or a wallet and the data that comes with it. Do these people expect new features and improvements and at the same time decreasing the app sizes? Doesn't really work. What would they say if they looked at the size of the bitcoin blockchain today compared to what it was 10 years ago?

I don't if it is somehow possible to check size of all apps and change before update, without installing and testing them individually.
Yeah, that's possible. You can do that by accessing the manager, called My Ledger in Ledger Live. It shows you the apps you have installed, the versions, and app sizes. If there is an update, you can see the new version number and new size after installation.
2618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running a node and NTFs on cores. on: March 29, 2023, 04:17:27 PM
If the specs that ETFbitcoin posted correspond to the exact laptop you have, hard disk space might become an issue.
Does your device have a 500 GB drive? The Bitcoin blockchain is getting close to 500 GB I think. Running a pruned node might be your only option unless you have additional storage capacities.
2619  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: A virus infected laptop, how safe? on: March 29, 2023, 04:05:57 PM
We know about this bug ONLY because this is open source software.
In case of ledger and other closed source devices this could happen 100 times and we would never hear anything about this because of signed NDA's.
True, but what you don't see, you also don't know. The good and the bad. The biggest advantage of open-source is also its greatest weakness depending on who is looking at the code. If this was a more popular open-source product, like Trezor, maybe someone with nastier motives could have noticed what was going on. At the same time, maybe it would have been discovered earlier. "its" and "when's". It still requires physical access to a faulty device, which shouldn't be overlooked and significantly limits the attack options.
2620  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Stack wallet for mobile? on: March 29, 2023, 03:52:55 PM
Speaking of Electrum and derivation paths, I had no luck finding them [I even increased the gap limit to 2000 and also used ismine("type your address") in the console, but it kept showing false] when I used the exact derivation paths that stack duo [this probably applies to stack wallet as well] shows for each of their addresses, so in case someone else stumbles onto a similar issue, just go with what Electrum suggests by default [until account (e.g. m/84'/0'/0')].
You confused me a bit with this reply. Are you saying that you couldn't find the generated Stack wallet address by importing the seed into Electrum even after increasing the gap limit to 2000? What derivation path does Stack wallet use for Bitcoin by default? You mentioned m/84'/0'/0', but that's the standard one for Bech32 addresses. What were you scanning before that?

If you tick the scan common derivation paths button (or whatever it's called), does the software find it?
