No offense lady, but I'm pretty sure I have a better ass than you.

When you are blowing cocaine up a hooker's ass. On a beach. Every day.
you mean both the coke and hooker purchased with bitcoin? No, he means cocaine, hooker, and private island were purchased with bitcoin.

1. An address in the blockchain is not a "who". You're thinking in fiat terms.
2. They're not the Silk Road coins anymore. That is what they were.

If you guys stop acting like evangelicals then we won't even need to say anything to get people to accept Bitcoin, taxes inflation and government debt will bring them to us... This will happen regardless of whether or not we're "behaving like evangelicals". The two things have absolutely no connection whatsoever. The dollar was a dead thing walking long before Bitcoin came along, by the way. The dollar is the sinking Titanic on which we were all trapped. Satoshi came along with a ferry full of life rafts, the smartest people are now jumping on the rafts. Funny thing about the Dollar-Titanic... It's so damn massive that most folks cannot even tell that it's sinking until they're off the ship, and their life raft has traveled a far enough distance to see it clearly... Similar problem with capitalism, writ large(r).

Like many with fancy credentials, he appears to have little practical knowledge. I feel sorry for anyone that took economics classes at Boston U, and I wonder how many other Bitcorns are out there in colleges, banks, credit card companies and Govt regulatory agencies.
Economics is a form of indoctrination, the goal being for you to think within a particular narrow framework about the world and capitalism. It should come as no surprise that people with advanced training in Economics cannot think freely. Economics is a colored lens through which these people see the world. The problem is that they have long since forgotten how to take the glasses off. Case in point: Paul Krugman

One way or another, the US establishment will suggest not to. I hope they do it though.
I'm inclined to agree. One way [read: coercion] -or- another [read: violence AKA "force" in 1984-speak] Protip: If you want to control how people think, control their language. Thought is structured by language. This is what the Nation-State has done.

Well, they are your kids, I guess you know what they are worth. I figured most people would be willing to kick down a few more bucks when investing in their own flesh and blood. I can't speak for anyone else, but personally I am willing to invest $0 in mini-me narcissistic clones. That's why I got a vasectomy, which was free. It was the second best decision of my life (after my pre-China Bitcoin investment). Now I'm having loads of raw sex with my bombshell girlfriend and we are fluid bonded. Honestly RawDog, sex feels so much better without a condom. Who is going to take care of you when you get old? When I am too old to care for myself, I'll take that as a hint that it's probably time to embrace the sweet release of death. Although my girlfriend IS 6 years younger than me, I have no illusions about the permanence of monogamous relationships. Monogamy is totally unnatural for Homo Sapiens, after all.

I might get a XAPO account when they launch for day-to-day purchases.
Keep a small amount of USD on hand, but otherwise put all of my liquid assets into BTC.
I'm either retarded or insane. I like to think a little of both. You feel "retarded or insane" because your mind is letting go of its fiat-bias in favor of the rational argument for Bitcoin. You're making a wise choice, friend. Your future self will thank you.

Newegg -> eBay & Apple -> Amazon.com -> 1,000 valuation -> People of China begin to realize their clueless government fucked them over -> Chinese reinvestment, this time permanent -> we're all rich. Prophet Beliathon has spoken.

What is the current rate right now? 500%+ year over year. I've held for about 9 months. In that time BTC went from ~150 to ~650

Where is the killer app? Merchant adoption isn't it Bitcoin is the killer app - the first of many! Central banking and nation state scrip are the victims being killed. The blockchain is the platform.

man, some of you guys are nuts putting that much of your income into bitcoin.. it could pay off, or it could totally fuck you over in the months and years to come.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm willing to wager total poverty against the chance at ending the use of violence-backed nation-state fiat scrip (AKA murder-money).

Any digital image is just a bunch of 1's and 0's, just as any words spoken are vibrations through the air. I humbly suggest you meditate on this reality.
Don't be so alarmist.

Bitcoin: The end of violence-backed currency.

Gold, Silver etc = Personal animal powered transportation. Horse and buggy, donkey carts, elephants, oxen, etc. Fiat = Centralized engine powered transportation Railways, steamships, and later airlines etc. Yes, you nailed it. Bitcoin and other crypto currencies = Personal engine powered transportation, cars, light trucks, motorcycles etc. Close, but no cigar! Bitcoin is teleportation. It's the perfect analogy, think about it.

NO ONE knows what the future will bring, Beliathon. No one knows the future with certainty, but observation and deduction yield the gift of probability. Does it seem probable to you that fiat scrip will continue dominating currency on this planet for the next decade? Does it seem probable to you that a form of money which cannot be easily divided, which cannot be cheaply stored, will continue to be used as a store of wealth on a planet with cryptocurrency ? To me, these outcomes seem less probable with each passing day.
