I remember last time the rptiella haters got louder and louder. It was when he predicted down to $400 level and had to leave this thread until that happened it was getting so frequent. Based on that I think an upward trend is now on the horizon Cheesy.

LOL Must love that "indicator", Is there a way to activate it at BitcoinWisdom?  Grin

Yeah, but I prefer CCMF stuff here! Grin

Well price hasn't been cooperative for that lately and I'm kind of sick of reading people caring about what the hell China does.
Maybe I should put some flying trains around and big red letters and start my own FUD...   Wink

Fear of what? Alien abduction?

Fear of NOT getting into the

Newton would have seemed to you a heretic [Jorge], for he presented a theory that was strongly at variance with established beliefs and customs.  This is not unlike how you view bitcoin as heresy today.

The laws of physics we use today are a model. A model is a simplification of reality (which is simply too complex) which is close enough to reality to be useful while also being simple enough to be practical. Science is the process of optimizing this model by observation, experimentation and hypothesizing.

Precisely.  They are models that we slowly optimize as we seek out truth.  The most useful models influence our perception of the universe in all of its complexity that we see in front of us.

Reshaping our perception of reality is both exciting and frightening.  Some embrace it and ask how they can use it to their advantage.  Others cling tightly to their past beliefs, trolling internet forums as the pressure from their cognitive dissonance grows, for these people know deep inside that their worldview will never be the same.

Yes, but while I completely agree with you we must always consider the possibility that we are wrong. I think it's highly unlikely but the chance of that is certainly non-zero. If I end up being wrong it will surely hurt me financially.

Exactly. A scientist is never afraid to admit a wrong estimation. That's what true scientists do. Test and verify, then (if an error is found) reshape theory then verify... until the model is (almost) perfect.

PS: WTF are you people doing here? Isn't it the WoT?
2611  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 25, 2014, 07:30:14 PM
Ridiculous. The only reason why most bitcoin crimes go unpunished and victims get no reparation is that bitcoin was appropriated by rabid "libertarians" who hate governments, law, regulations, and police.

The logical consequence of assuming that those things are evil is that "there are no criminals nor victims, only smart people and stupid people".

The invariable response of the "bitcoin community" to each new bitcoin scam or heist is "stupid victims, they should have blah blah blah."

Good to see you airing those "academic" prejudices a little more openly again, prof.  Have the high priests of the global Bitcoin conspiracy been getting to you again? Roll Eyes

The reason that some crimes involving Bitcoin have gone unpunished is because governments and regulators are slow to catch on to new technology.  Now, what's the reason for the lack of prosecutions with regard to massive fiat scandals?  Oh yes, the institutions are "too big to fail" and the individuals involved apparently can't themselves be held accountable either.  So that's fair.

Bitcoin could be your saviour but you're so terrified of some of its libertarian fans somehow taking complete control of this massive open-to-all consensus-based network that you'd rather dedicate your time to saving the world from those dangerous imaginary cultists in the most bizarre and fruitless way possible - trolling this thread.

If you want to try and change Bitcoin's direction, stop pushing back and start looking forward.

2612  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mtgox Stolen Bitcoins moving into MaidSafe's IPO? on: April 24, 2014, 10:02:28 PM
This is called embezzlement.

If proven, it should earn the fat frog 10 years in prison.

He's in Japan, you'ld have to ambush him at Starbucks and throw him on a plane to the states.
It won't be easy to get away... He's visible from a distance. Eventhough the plane should be something like this: Grin
2613  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mtgox Stolen Bitcoins moving into MaidSafe's IPO? on: April 24, 2014, 09:51:39 PM
Guys, ok we don't know now who is the owner but we know the receiver.
Maidsafe IPO associated account received 64.000 BTC.
So some authority to make this company (receiver) reveal the depositor?HuhHuhHuh?  (do you think they received this ammount without knowing the sender???)
THIS IS HUUUUUGE !!!!!! can't get away after that.....

This stinks like a rat's ass. Chances are that Karpeles (or someone from the inside) still has the ability to move funds from the big Gox wallet. Bankruptcy is announced, he walks, we are Goxxed. Simple as that.
2614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 19, 2014, 04:36:24 PM
Lots of people seem to be using no data to back their claims except SOA indicators.
Too much guessing.

SOA= Straight Out of the Ass

Works just as good as TA or throwing dice.

By the way I found some gold from the time when I was a bear and TERA was a bull:

It looks like more than just a rally. It's a huge fking bidwall, 8 million new dollars on the books, in front of the bottom, overnight. It just rose from a total of 15.5M to 16.5M as I was typing this, almost to ATH. Now the book looks completely warped into the bulls favor. How are you going to get through that? It's going to take an immense pressure, and that huge bid could be could be regenerating the whole time.

Bullshit, all bullshit. Big players want out. So they fake the market with the very USD that they received yesterday from the first wave of selling. How many times this has to happen before you realize? Ask Loaded for details, which he unfortunately cannot give you Wink

But red is what we see.

2619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 12, 2014, 09:20:24 AM
i was asked why i post here.  i realized this while reading Epsilon Theory today:

common knowledge is the fulcrum of sentiment.  i post in an effort to elevate and influence common knowledge in a way that reduces the gap between one local pareto optimum and the next, hopefully superior local optimum, and increasingly congenial to my personal taste.  not to manipulate the hive mind, as though i could -- i can not, but to contribute what is hopefully a positive increment, aptly timed.

that, and a perverse dopamine fix.  gotta cut that out.

Keep it up. Wink
