2601  Other / Meta / Should this kind of disgusting posting behavior be allowed? on: April 15, 2020, 05:08:48 PM
I was looking through the forum and found this member, coinfunda, using the forum as an advertising wall for their website. The way coinfunda is advertising their website is disgusting and pure definition of shitposting and nonsense posting: pretending not to know about some wallets/services/coins and posting a question on our forum, but placing a link to their own articles answering their own questions which makes the reason of posting a thread here nonsense unless it's literally intentional advertisement:

Hi, there are many ripple wallets which is recommended for storing XRPs for long term?
Hi, Here is the list of working bitcoin debit cards, anyone using crypto debit card in India?
Hi guys, here is an article on litecoin wallets, Any review on atomic wallet. Can I reconver my fund if wallet app got deleted from mobile.?

Moreover, taking a look at this thread kinda infuriates me:

Quote
Mycelium wallet is one of the recommended wallet by Bitcoin community. Few ques.

1. Suppose if I put my Bitcoin for 3 years in this wallet and meanwhile they close this app then is there any way to recover it?

 2. What is HD wallet? How it works?

3. Mycelium is better or paper wallet?

After coinfunda asked these questions, members of the forum took their time to answer them. 4 days later, take a look at the final reply of coinfunda before locking the thread up:

Quote
Thank you for the help. I have summarize the duscussion in my article on blockchain vs mycelium

Coinfunda literally asked questions so they profit off other members' time. I don't know, this is kinda sad and infuriates me because they're using the forum and the knowledge of its members as a way to monetize their website. Is this posting behavior off like I see it or am I wrong?
2602  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New Hardware Wallet on: April 15, 2020, 12:48:10 PM
One of the main reasons for the high price is that our wallet is decentralized which is connected to live exchange...
Moreover, cross border platform issue has been resolved which was one of the main issues that crypto world was facing...
Linux and Mac version of our product is coming very soon...Stay up to date
Our Windows security is at its best...Because your walahala wallet application has nothing to do with privacy loss as it only gets the start when your wallet is plugged inside the computer...
All your crypto assets are in walahala wallet, not in your desktop application, nor even in exchange...
Our slogan is :
"My money my control"
And that's what we are showing to the world.

Multiple verifications mean 2FA google authentication, security questions
And your KYC data is completely secure according to EU laws...
I must say you should try our wallet first after that give us your reviews...
WALAHALA WHC IOE-Pair is officially launched in European exchange as well:-
https://www.tokens.net/launchpad/whc/
Are you implying that Trezor or Ledger are centralized hardware wallets? If no, then why is this a justification for the high price? Ledger offers much higher quality, a widely used and tested product that has been proven to be safe under ideal usage. Same goes with Trezor and a few other smaller hardware wallets. Why is yours better and makes the spending of $149 on yours worth it?

I'm willing to support smaller companies trying to get started in the crypto markets. You're one of them, but it looks like you're promoting some shady product nobody's heard of, how am I supposed to trust you? Can't find a single person on the Internet talking about your products that is not related to your company.

I asked you for some information about the "live exchange"... is it yours? Is it someone else's? If you are saying it's decentralized, where's the open source code for your product?

Could you explain what the "cross border platform" issue you're talking about is? What issue did you solve? What precisely was this "cross border platform issue"?
2603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin going POS sounds like a big joke don't you think? on: April 15, 2020, 07:49:09 AM
If the community wants it and it is proven a successful and secure way to validate transactions. For now though, as far as I know, PoW is the most secure one and it will most likely not change for a long, long time.

Changing to PoS would probably create another fork off the BTC chain because the division of the community. On the other hand though, changing the way to validate txs doesn't make sense because those who want BTC to go PoS are in minority compared to when a considerable part of the community wanted BCH to happen..

Satoshi left his project alive for us to continue it and make it better. He surely knew there were flaws here and there, but the way he created BTC and its blockchain from the beginning is ingenious.

Op, I suggest you to join cryptotalk forum. It's a free spam forum which pays its users per post. Unless you are not from one of the banned countries, you can use cryptotalk to get income from doing almost nothing but to type some shit words using just a keyboard. If you prefer to value your time online, then follow suggestions in posts above. Please stop creating more threads asking the same question.
Did you really just suggest OP to go to the shittiest forum in existence to "earn crypto"? By supporting CryptoTalk you're supporting the YoBit scams. In other words, you're spamming a forum to make it SEEM popular so others could fall for their up-and-coming non-existent ICOs and IEOs and whatever other scams they're up to.

OP, I'd rather not go there. You'd break up your reputation and you'd earn low amounts for learning nothing and creating just noise on their forums and leaving a bad trace behind you. I'd rather not be able to earn any BTC and spend my time here - at least I'll learn something useful.

Stay with us and see if you enjoy discussing in different boards. Chase the boards you're interested in but always keep an eye on the others too. I suggest you to first learn things about BTC, understand how it works and ask any question you may have - we have enough members ready to answer them all. Meanwhile, spending time here gives you ideas and you'll find out how it works. Don't rush in for the paychecks because you may be missing crucial information and misuse a wallet.

Spend your precious time learning. Ideas will come by themselves. Smiley
2605  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Warning, telegram rogue dangerous application created and distributed by scammer on: April 14, 2020, 01:45:35 PM
Telegram members who do not have much knowledge about computers in general could easily fall in this virus trap, but it's Telegram's fault imo for not showing up a warning sign whenever an user receives messages from strangers especially with downloadable files! I'm surprised they even let users send executable files, that's a very big red alert already from the start..

It's hard though to keep up with all these scams and also pin them somewhere for all newbies to see. It's a matter of luckiness too - if you're unlucky, know only very basic stuff about computers or smart devices and are also new here, it's either you're going to do a little research or you go YOLO. We can't put these informations in every newbie's head to prevent them. It's in their own best interest.
2606  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: BitHD RAZOR - Unboxing and initial impressions (Full Review to come) on: April 14, 2020, 01:25:06 PM
I've been looking for months towards purchasing some "new-gen" hardware wallets and I think it's time to support some less-known brands too.

This one has a neat design but its thickness makes me a bit anxious and worried it may bend. It happened a few times to some things I tried to hold in my wallet, does the RAZOR feel sturdy enough to handle a little unintentional bending pressure?
2607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The best stories about your crypto experience on: April 14, 2020, 11:54:25 AM
Well, my story from years ago when I lost my BTC temporarily (for ~1yr) due to the lack of a proper storage of my seeds fits all 3 narratives: funny, dumb and instructive. The feeling of losing your crypto wallet sucks, but the feeling you get when you recover it is amazing Cheesy

Now that I've been through at least two wallet losses (one was not significant), whenever I teach someone about using cryptocurrencies the first thing I tell them is to take maximum care of the seed, never use centralized services (or at least avoid them as much as possible) and protect their own wallets. It takes only 2-3 minutes to properly store and check a recovery seed but it saves any single fraction of a penny you invest. Worth it, entirely.
2608  Economy / Speculation / Re: Have look at the Bitcoin Latest update on: April 14, 2020, 03:05:10 AM
Unfortunately, but the coming economic crisis in the world can as well help Bitcoin's price, as well as seriously harm it. At the moment of the first signs of panic on the stock exchanges, the price of Bitcoin also dropped significantly, and with subsequent bad news from the classic exchanges, a large drop in the BTC price may repeat.
~
Because people don't know what to believe.. whether BTC is a good investment in hard times or not. We're living BTC's first real, live test and this is when its fate is decided imo. For now, it looks like people are starting to believe more in it as the COVID-19 crisis goes on.

~
So all $7xxx breaches are not going to happen and the break out that we are expecting goes on the opposite direction, not very good if you are a holder.
~
Why is it not good for hodlers? If you do not plan to sell your coins, why would it be an issue for the price to plummet for some time? The ones most at risk are the weak-handed and those who need to use BTC for different payments and other purposes. If you're a hodler, get some popcorn and watch how the market moves - as long as you don't make moves, you're in the safezone.

Interesting analysis, so many traders with so many different perspectives.. I wish I had the possibility to buy more BTC now, all my plans are down thanks to the quarantine Grin Keep it up, OP!
2609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YOBIT scam peoples in X100 ICO on: April 14, 2020, 02:53:24 AM
You guys are a bunch of idiots. x100 was clearly for people with a lot of yo cause it gives 100% by day. You try to buy at ieo price to make big money. X10 gave big profits, Allissa gave big profits, INVEST is still giving big profits while PANDA/FROG/PONY and many others were profitable for a long time. Only LIKE was questionable and x100 didnt give great returns. Yobit is a nice exchange and you only dont make profit if you dont understand it and buy shitcoins or ieo's at high price. Really how can you not make money here?

Shilling YoBit much?

X100, X10, Alissa, Invest, YoDollar or whatever the fuck else they launched are all shitcoins that only intoxicate our community and markets. The only ones who truly profitted off these scamcoins were YoBit themselves. Some of these coins don't even exist, man..

Everything going on with their exchange is questionable. They just catch you in their trap and you either submit to them by giving them more & more money or you have to get out completely.
2610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $100K TO CRACK A BITCOIN WALLET on: April 14, 2020, 02:39:34 AM
With quantum and much faster and more improved GPUs coming as technology advances, I have to hope the BTC devs will find a way to make wallets less prone to hacking and I doubt BTC will be left in the dust and have a sad ending with new technology taking the control over our wallets.

Worst part is, the oldest addresses are at risk. If one gets their hand on the earliest wallets, they could crash the markets and install fear in many of the new crypto enthusiasts.

But is the article even related to cracking private keys or the wallet itself? Because from the quote below it sounds like they have been able to successfully exploit a ZIP file to get a BTC wallet, it doesn't look like they spent $100k, got a mining farm and cracked a wallet file:

Quote
We never know where the solutions to our problems are going to come from, like a random .zip file exploitation from two decades ago, but we can be sure that in the future it will be much easier to crack these keys.
2611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Offline cryptocurrency transfer? on: April 14, 2020, 01:27:28 AM
Sending crypto via SMS sounds so outdated
In a world where you're under mandatory quarantine, banks are closed etc, sending crypto via SMS sounds revolutionary to me if it's the decentralized and secure way. You could store, send & receive without having to trust a third party that could cut off your rights (banks closing down..). It'd be our opportunity to shine as a decentralized community.

As o_e_l_e_o said above, once you have signed a tx you want to broadcast, it can't be altered. Therefore, using crypto offline through SMS only could actually be the best thing especially during hard times & for newbies because chances of having your funds stolen by silly mistakes and malware are slight (correct me if I'm wrong). Using an airgapped wallet together with an offline possibility of spending decentralized currencies. Do we even need anything else?
2612  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-04-13] Coin Mixer’s Record Month Proves Bitcoin Users Want Anonymity on: April 14, 2020, 01:03:06 AM
It's very unfortunate that seeking privacy makes you a marked man. If the base level of transparency that Bitcoin has was applied to conventional transactions people would be rutting in the streets and firing politicians out of cannons.
We've been taught that way. You don't have a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? You're considered a weirdo. I am starting to think we're slowly moving towards the point where we're going to launch some technology we'll auto-destroy ourselves with - very weird times we're living in.

The way they educate us since we're born to be 100% transparent with the government and submit to them while they're hiding in the dark is disgusting. It's either all or none, but it takes such events as pandemics to find out that we've been paying taxes to have pandemic charities set up asking for donations and our grandparents & parents have worked hard to bring down communism for hospitals to take them off ICUs* and so on.

They're literally shitting on every single thing our past generations paid, worked & fought for.

* I get the point of removing the ones with the least chances of survival from ICUs to put those with the highest chance on them. But if govs were to take proper precaution, we would've had no more situations like overcrowded hospitals.
2613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum prices can tremendously shoot upwards thanks to Reddit. on: April 14, 2020, 12:51:15 AM
Oh come on, haven't we learned our lesson already? These "adoption measures" don't change the price that fast. It's a matter of long-term actions for the price to have a considerable long-term change. Reddit using ETH won't "drive it to the moon"..

I've been fooled by these kind of news countless times until I learned my lesson. If the price pumps because of a website starting to use/accept the coin, it's gonna be short term. 100%.
2614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 5G & Bitcoin Risks? on: April 14, 2020, 12:37:15 AM
~

So will 5G have a upgrade in few years time to 5G MAX or 5G+ or 5G ultimate or whatever they wanna call it?

Do these mid life upgrades require new hardware masts/satellites/towers?
I don't know about 5G for sure but I do know that Elon Musk's Starlink is going to be upgraded in a matter of years and I believe it's going to be on-the-fy (or over-the-air). Isn't it a bit nonsense to bring up satellites, towers etc and then having to physically get some other hardware to upgrade the network?

If I think it logically, it's probably a matter of time and hitting a certain goal. Once Elon Musk has all his satellites up and running, he's probably going to tune them all to the max power. If so, I assume the same will happen to 5G hardware too.

~

Lastly coming onto Bitcoin Risks with the 5G being rolled out everywhere as we speak. Like discussed above if 5G can do some smart processing on its own independently then can the Government use the 5G network to ban Bitcoin Payments done outside the home if phone is connected to 5G? For example if I want to pay for my coffee or groceries using bitcoin on my phone connected to 5G then will 5G block the payment leaving me no choice but to use the government centralised digital coins or tokens?
Why would they specifically use 5G to ban BTC payments? If they want to ban it, they'd legally do it through regulations so you won't be able to use it to pay for your coffee/groceries anymore. Moreover, if 5G was the way they wanted to block BTC, that means you could bypass the ban by using Wi-Fi.. so if you're expecting the govs to block it, then expect something straight & forward and fool-proof regulations.
2615  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Want to Know on: April 14, 2020, 12:29:47 AM
If you were to follow the basic stuff about investments, then this could be the perfect opportunity to buy more.

My trading history is full of hits & misses, but most misses were caused by me not purchasing on dumps & waiting for an even lower price or not selling at the top & hoping for an even larger boom. If I was to calculate all the lost opportunities I ever had, the loss on paper is huge.

If you see the prices going in a downtrend and BTC ~3x lower than ATH as an opportunity, buy it if you're willing to assume the risks it implies. According to basic trading rules, you buy low and sell high. Smiley
2616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why reward halving instead of doubling? on: April 14, 2020, 12:06:30 AM
Put it this way.  Of all the myriad coins out there that have tried different distribution schemes, none of them are ever likely to be as successful as this one.

We could spend forever debating how or why that decision was reached, but at the end of the day, it worked.  If you could go back in time and make major alterations, there's no guarantee the result would have been the same.

If we were to have doubling every 4 years instead of halving, it'd look more like a scary event than an exciting one. In fact, wouldn't BTC turn into a ponzi scheme?

Bitcoin was launched and had only a handful of people supporting it in the early days. If we had block reward doubling, it means BTC would be 2x less scarce every 4 years.. so in order to keep its price up, we would've needed to gather more and more investors to keep pumping money in it to maintain the price - until they can't Cheesy

I mean, imo Satoshi placed the best distribution scheme on BTC and it's a proven huge success like you said. If we had BTC start from a block reward doubling scheme, we would've had an alt overtake it as soon as a dev thought of creating a scace cryptocurrency. Hence, BTC would've been a big shitcoin right now..
2617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When Will You Start Buying Again on: April 13, 2020, 11:57:51 PM
The vaccine release and how the world's going to look post-pandemic are going to be two interesting subjects that may turn horrifying to us.

I'm not waiting for anyone's vaccine. My country has ~350 deaths and we're +20M citizens, I'm starting to worry this is not about the virus anymore but something bigger than we thing lying in the background. I'll continue my usual investing when I'll be able to use ATMs again

A lot of people I know have only used ATMs to buy cryptocurrencies, so I guess the number of investors has dropped very fast. I haven't been in the city yet to check whether the ATMs are still active or not, but I suppose they aren't. Because there are quite a lot of people not willing to give in their personal information when purchasing cryptocurrencies, what's going to happen after lockdowns get lifted is going to look very interesting! If my thoughts are right and a lot of people have only bought through ATMs, then BTC and alts are currently undervalued.
2618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is our chance on: April 13, 2020, 11:43:06 PM
The worst is unfortunately here - only if we were all free to at least continue our lives normally during the hard times.

But something tells me they wanted it this way. Otherwise, we'd all already protest on the streets. We asked them to take our rights away, we asked them to quarantine us, we asked them to do most of the things they've done. I don't think it'll be much longer until people will stop paying taxes & fees to the governments and banks as we all are going to find out we're running out of money. Are we going to give them all our money? Again? Don't they have enough money already? Didn't history teach us enough how this works and how we're once again transferring our wealth in their hands?

This would be the perfect time to move to the decentralized world, but do you think they'll let us do it with no consequences? I'm ready to accept any consequence - even prison time for allegedly supporting criminal networks and "tax evasion" - but are you? Is everyone else? I don't think so.

I want to be optimistic. I really want to. But to me it looks like we're losing the war on all possible sides and the only way we'd be able to oppose what's happening and prevent even harsher times is by turning the entire system upside down and moving to transparent or privacy-focused cryptocurrencies they can't control. The largest and ugliest issue is that we really aren't ready for such a change.

It's like a wet dream of most early BTC adopters but take your phone and take a look over all the contacts you've ever added & saved on your phone. How many of them are ready to turn the system upside down and stop them criminals and rich from doing what they've done for centuries? I'm sure not many..

Before people get to move from worthless paper to cryptocurrencies, they'll go through the same things we have been through. The unfortunate feeling of losing some BTC and not having any possibility of recovering it. The scams. The hard-to-understand nature of cryptos for a non-heavy computer user and especially for boomers. The KYC abuses. They're all part of the game and unless you're a tech savvy, it's gonna be part of yours too as a newbie. This is a process that takes time..

We got caught unprepared. God, I wish I was wrong. I wish I am and this is it - the moment we've been waiting for. But it just doesn't look like it to me at all ..
2619  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the difference between Online and Physical casinos? on: April 13, 2020, 11:23:23 PM
I have never been betting in real casinos, but I guess it would be easier for online casino to cheat you then real world casino.
Advantage for online casino is speed, and you can play it from anywhere you are
Advantages of online casinos exceed those of physical ones. I don't think we even have provably fair on physical casinos, which is a big disadvantage and makes your point about online casinos being easier to cheat invalid. Your identity is also hidden on online ones (at least on crypto casinos) so nobody knows who you really are unless you expose yourself. Now that we're locked down too, everything is going digital so there goes the physical casino addiction too Cheesy

It should feel nice to physically gamble especially that socialization is part of the game most of the time, but I'd rather play a fair session than get distracted by friends & cheated on by the casino at the same time.
2620  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do we need Bitcoin if we have Litecoin? on: April 13, 2020, 06:02:22 PM
If we were to always move towards "the better one" and leave the previous coins behind, we'd go through some nonsense. Litecoin and other alts are out there for the people who want the specific features of them. Just like BCH has forked off BTC's chain with a few different characteristics, there are other alts that provide what a part of the community needs.

For example, we have Monero with it's privacy focus. Well, those who need privacy and complete anonymity (if they use it the right way, obviously), then they'll move to XMR. If they want transparency and to support the king of all cryptos which is the most adopted and the widest accepted, they'll keep supporting & using BTC.

Some people are going to stay only in the BTC community because they consider all other coins to be crap and think they shouldn't exist at all. This is the beauty of decentralization: everyone is free to think whatever they will and want, everyone is free to be part of whatever group and community they want to support. Smiley

No, you got one thing wrong. Fork doesnt mean its improved anything, its changed.
In this particular case, litecoin just copied Bitcoin like literrally ctrl +c, ctrl + v and changed name, changed supply limit and block discovery average time. Thats it. Couple hours of work. Nothing improved, nothing valuable added, it was first bitcoin copy, thats it.
Not a Charlie Lee fanboy, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case when it comes to LTC. It was not just a copy-paste of BTC's code and they added quite a lot in time. I am not up to date with all recent changes, but there are enough devs out there working hard on making it better.

Moreover, it was not the first altcoin! IIRC, the first one after BTC was Namecoin..
