Finally, the real hacker behind 2016's Bitfinex attack was confirmed. The hacker was form New York city and he hacked almost $4.5 Billion worth of cryptocurrencies by hacking the famous platform Bitfinex in 2016. The New York city guy finally admitted in court that he was the real hacker behind the 2016's Bitfinex hacking attack. Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein is the real hacker behind that hack and he is going to face the maximum sentence of 20 years for doing such act of conspiracy.

Is this news correct or not?

Elon Musk and his platform X to launch their own stock trading and BitcoinBTCCrypto trading  platform.

Source

If that news is true then I'm more than sure that Binance will be in trouble. Elon Musk will try his best to offer higher advantages than his competitors and as a result other exchanges may face some challenging situations. However, I'm quite sure that for doing that Elon Has to come up with a very successful plan.
2603  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free Condolence Bonuses to Betnomi victims on: August 04, 2023, 04:04:36 AM
Seeing what's happening, we feel there is something we should do to protect people's trust in the crypto iGaming industry, not only as a relatively successful crypto casino & sportsbook, but also as a beneficiary of this industry. Therefore, we have decided to offer a free bonus to all victims of Betnomi who still have funds stuck there. No deposit required.
That's a good move TrustDice, but taking advantage of that situation doesn't always look good. But it is also important to use the right marketing strategy at the right time to stay ahead of the competitors in the market. However I am not a victim of Betnomi so I am not eligible for this bonus, good luck to those who are eligible. But I think there are many scammers who will want to take advantage of this promotion to get this bonus, so pay extra attention to this, and make sure you reach the right victims. Otherwise, real Betnomi victims will not get bonus in this promotion.
I’m also thinking the same way as they are taking advantage of the situation. If OP is really a representative of Trustdice, I hope they’ll be more professional and not to use this situation as their marketing option as many are still suffering from what happened to Betnomi. Well, if they are serious about this promotion then I also hope that they can get to the real victims and now to the fake one.
Dude there's no marketing in here jesus christ they literally are just reaching out to people who have been victimized by Betnomi so they can have some sort of recompense. Jesus christ why are you guys digging into this.

It would've been a marketing ploy if the company is to force the users who have been victimized to login to their site and play games with them in order to get the bonus, instead what you get here is a "if you want this, we can give this to you for free, just reach out and we'll help you with it", you guys have been antagonizing Trustdice when there's no ill will in here. What they did is more than what you guys would ever be willing to do with the amount of money that they had. Just shut the hell up and help those that were victimized, not hate on those that are trying to help cause you think "it's a marketing ploy" like dude go read a book on marketing first and then come back here when you've realized and understood what a marketing tactic really is and how it looks like.
This is how someone who has no clue responds. It's 100% a marketing ploy. You think they're offering this because they do not want to gain players?  It's not illegal and could be considered a pretty smart marketing tactic, but doesn't mean everyone agrees with it. We don't have to like it or dislike it though, we are not the operators of either site.

I know that it's a kind of marketing ploy and they know very well that they will gain good amount of gamblers from such marketing tactic. I agree that such practice isn't forbidden and any casino can offer such thing without any restrictions, but I agree that such things are basically shown to gain some players on their platforms and I'm more than sure that all those who are affected by Betnomi would love to have such offers from another casino site. Let's see what they will do if someone completes their wagering requirements because I'm more than sure that 95% of the gamblers won't be able to meet the wagering requirements, and they will end up spending more money on the platform.
2604  Other / Meta / Re: Ignore user confirmation before ignoring on: August 03, 2023, 07:40:34 PM
You can not Ignore a user by clicking on URL links. You only can do it with your Ignore list by adding that username into your Ignore list or by clicking on Ignore. The former is no way to be done by mistake and you don't know about it. The latter can come from mistake when you are on mobile. If you want to click on the username to go to its profile and mistouch on Ignore.

The ignore link is an url!  Wink
I've managed to do that by mistake on a tablet when doing the lazy scroll, one bad timing and it's a tap instead of hold and release, and if you're not really careful the guy gets ignored and you won't realize, especially if you have a long ignore list. I don't have anyone on ignore so in my case I instantly know I made a mistake when I see an ignored user but users with a long list might not realize for a long time.

I agree with you the ones who doesn't have anyone in their ignore list can easily know that they have wrongly ignored a user, but for those who have a huge list of users in their ignore list then it would be a really time consuming task to know that they have ignored someone unintentionally.

I also have 0 members in my ignore list because I believe that ignoring users isn't a good practice and it would really make us more ignorant to ignore those whose opinions we don't like. If we can't ignore such humans in real like then we should not ignore them on forum also.
2605  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My new favorite betting method. on: August 03, 2023, 07:33:20 PM
The logic behind this betting method isn't complex at all. You bet $2 on x2 and on the next bet you sum +1 to the bet amount and it looks something like this:

Code:
$2 - x2
$3 - x3
$4 - x4
$5 - x5
...
$10,000 - x10,000

I know, in the example looks like a lot of money to bet, but now think about starting from 0.00000002 BTC or better known as 2 satoshis, with increments of 1 satoshi, you can be betting in the long run with 0.001 btc.

To do this I hire a guy to make a betting bot for a casino, and is looking good, is really hard to find a losing run with it.

So, what do you think about this betting method, Has someone tried it in the past?

Don't take me wrong, but this is one of the worst strategies that someone can try. This type of strategies are for the games that support 10000x multipliers and one of such games that I know is Crash. When someone uses such strategy on games like crash then the chances of getting higher multiplier is very low for such players.

I know that the strategy may work for those who are extremely lucky, but for those with low levels of luck the strategy will never work at all. I have seen many players following a similar strategy on Crash and they have lost so many bets due to such strategy.

[edited out]
...... and I really didn't pointed fingers towards you ...

Just for clarity.  You can say whatever you like.  I am not taking any of this personally, even if some of the comment are directed towards some of my practices.. members can say whatever they like, even if they don't like what I am doing or they don't like me.

Even in regards to the topic, there are differences of opinion, and it seems to me that some people make comments about all the trolls/spammers/scammers in this here thread, and yeah, it can sometimes be annoying, but members do not need to participate in this thread, and they can ignore members and/or they can complain about it (or try to lobby other members to their whiny complaining side of matters).

It's a free country (thread) the last time I checked.

I said everything according to the matter and I really didn't intended to attack you personally. Thanks for understanding me, and yes I would still stick to my previous comment that sending of merit is someone's own right and no body needs to guide the sender of the merits. I truly respect you and I can surely say that you are among the most generous members of the forum.

I agree with you that those who don't really like someone's opinion can easily ignore such users and there is no need to take such things to very high levels. It's always better to avoid such users who tend to post spamming messages because it's really not worthy to waste your time on such users. However, if someone doesn't like a user's opinion then he/she should not reply to that user if he/she doesn't want to add new members in his/her ignore list.

That's the power of @El duderino_! He sent 50 merits to show that he doesn't care anything at all. Ah, man you're really awesome. Well, that really show that the sender has the power to merit anyone, and in this case the merits were sent to ChartBuddym and I must say that it deserved those merits!
2607  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 03, 2023, 03:39:36 PM
Oh?  There is something that "we" are "supposed to do" before sending merits?

That's news to this here cat.
Ah, you are right! It's not really worth it to go after the source of every image that's posted in this thread. The users who post such content should at least quote the link of the real source below the image to avoid any kind of plagiarism because once the real reference is quoted and proper credit is given to the original content creator then there isn't any kind of plagiarism involved in posting such images.

Sure.  Bare minimum should be to provide the source for substantive content, such as text, but mere images may or may not need references... although personally I get the sense that if the image has substantive information beyond some joking matters, then it is probably a better practice to provide the source for such substantive content.

But your earlier framing of the question has to do with whether the smerit sender has some kind of obligation to research into matters before sending smerits.. which is not the case, even though you suggested that maybe it should be the case.. which also might be what some other members believe is (or should be) required.

Go ahead.  Propose your change to the current system.  Such obligation does not currently exist... and once you propose it, how far are you going to go with it?  is such proposed change going to be enforceable?  is such proposed change going to have negative ramifications?

I actually said those words because it would be somewhat helpful to research something in depth on in case of those who are constantly posting plagiarized content without and mention of the original sources, but I still agree that it isn't possible for merit sender to research each post before sending the merits. It's someone's own right to send merits to a member, and if someone finds a post interesting then they can send merits without asking.

I'm sorry for the comment, I just said that to make things better for the forum, and I really didn't pointed fingers towards you because I really respect you as you have been doing really great for the forum and at the same time helping good posts with merits. I would really not add anything further for that change because I believe that the system is working in the best way and it doesn't need any change. I think it's better to find another way out rather than changing the system of the forum which's already in the best way possible.
2608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to DCA 1.000.000 $ into Bitcoin on: August 03, 2023, 11:18:06 AM
lets say someone wins a million dollar and wants to dca 50k weekly into bitcoin.
What is the smartest way to do so?

I know nothing and would send 50k to binance each week and set a limit order every monday. Is there a better way?

Thx Smiley

If someone wins a millions dollars then he/she will most probably get all those things he/she dreams having since childhood. And, let's suppose that the needs of the person require $500k then he/she will be left with only $500k to invest in Bitcoin. Now you should have a proper plan to DCA the remaining $500k into Bitcoin.

For someone like me the smartest way to DCA the money would be to invest it in Bitcoin when it faces a dip, and I would say that Binance may or may not work for such operations and that's why I think a good investor would often try to find other alternatives as well rather than relying only on Binance.

But, if you still want to go with Binance then you should reduce your sending amount to $10k maximum and each week you should set at least limit orders on different price ranges. Keep in mind that setting way lower price limit would not be a good choice because sometimes those limits are not reached and your order won't get filled.

Smartest in what?

You buy Bitcoin in Binance, you need to verify your account, and withdraw the coins back to your cold storage, that's already enough.

If you're privacy oriented, you must use decentralized exchange and mixer. It also depends on what you want to achieve, you can evading tax by doing that, it's one of the example.

Binance dot com has no BTC/USD market. You can't deposit there $1m USD. Lol

Who said that the OP needs to deposit USD directly on the exchange? There of course has to be involvement of P2P trading for depositing the USD into Binance. For USD related trade P2P still works like a charm and anyone who knows that will probably go with that route.

I just notice that the maintenance progress counter reset back to 0%. I’m watching on the website progress few weeks ago to try new games since the owner promised that the website will back last week. I wonder what really happened. I read few post above that the casino become accessible and now back to maintenance.

I’m looking forward for the opening and probably for the giveaway for forum users.

If you look closely then you can see that the construction of the website is almost completed and I'm quite sure that the website will be back online within few days. The programmer of the whole site and its games is a single person and that's why it took him a lot of time to complete the construction. Although, the site is still not working currently due to construction but soon it will be online once again.

sorry for the delay..
i'm almost there. i will give a more detailed update later tonight.

It would be a pleasure to visit the updated version of the site with those new and exciting games. I really hope that we will be able to use the site very soon!

2611  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do wager affect outcomes in any provably fair games on: August 03, 2023, 10:23:51 AM
I noticed that when I start to play games like keno, limbo, dice, etc. First some bets don't hit and after wagering some percentage of my balance it starts to hit,
How it works? like when we wager we have more probability to hit win, anyone noticed this? Do you know how it works and what is the calculation behind it?, do server sends outcomes by checking our wager?

I don't think that your wager can have any effect on such games because they work in the way they are created and those games won't reward the gamblers who have gone through huge number of losses. The outcome of a game is determined randomly and if someone is lucky enough then the outcome is always positive. However, if someone isn't lucky then of course the result will always be loss or sequence of losses.

The server doesn't really check for someone's wins or losses, it only works by the way its coded. Some of such games are coded in a way that they get updated based on the updated price of a coin while others have set their own timers. And, anyone who is lucky enough will of course get rewarded by such games because his luck will decide the outcome of his bets.
2612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Possible measures to stop online gambling addiction. on: August 03, 2023, 10:18:06 AM
There are many possible measures to reduce the intensity of gambling addictions on an addict but none of those are 100% workable only every addict. There are measures like completely cutting the internet connection of a gambler so that he/she will not be able to access those sites and the gambling addiction will end up slowly when the addict find physical things more.

But, most of such measures won't give you 100% results as most of them will work only when the requirements are there and when such gambling addicts get access to internet then his/her gambling urge will reawake and the addiction will be much more intense then the previous time.

I only working and effective treatment to gambling addiction or any other type of addiction is to make some proper disciplinary rules for the addicts and change their attention from gambling to something else each day. For some addicts physical relationship works as a remedy while for others sports may be a better cure. There is still no guarantee that those addicts will give up on the addiction forever.

You know what, its fine if he wants to do that, but he should do it somewhere else. The twitter copy/pasting is void of any signs of intelligence or original thought and is just sad. In no way is copy/pasting from twitter a "well constructive" post. Every time he gives a multi-accounting spammer a merit, it encourages them to make 2 more accounts which they then use to fish for merits by spamming this thread.

same thing with Duderino... WTF could you possibly be thinking. you're only encouraging laziness and stupidity by rewarding this behavior.

I got your point and I also agree that such users should not be merited due to their copy/pasting because they are somehow using plagiarized content for the purpose of gaining merits. The JJG and Dudrino both try to give merits to most users on this thread which try to make some good posts, but from next time they should check for such users before sending them any merits as such users won't be good for the forum because their main weapon is plagiarized content and copy/pasting of such content.
2616  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application on: August 02, 2023, 02:08:09 PM
Actually merit sources are actively managed.
One merit source has just been demoted.
So, good luck with your application!
If that's the case then @theymos might think about considering new applications as there are many pending and if he finds there's need for another one now with one source being demoted. So best of luck to @icopress with the same from my end also as we might see the list top up with few more sources.

I also think that soon there can be some new members as merit sources, and once again @icopress deserves to be one of them because he has been contributing a lot for the forum and when such members get accepted as merit sources then more merit deserving posts will be merited by such users. I hope that @icopress and some other reputable members of the forum would get accepted in the merit list.
2617  Economy / Gambling / Re: Rollbit.com | Crypto's Most Rewarding Casino 👑 on: August 02, 2023, 02:04:21 PM

Why would anybody invest in a token by a sketchy casino that uses stolen/hacked data from a competitor the send out promotion emails for their own site.  Grin

I would rather invest in a token of a real established place than using rollbit, if ever.

Seriously, these tokens are useless and dangerous. You can only use/trade them at the designated website. If the site is gone, so is the value. This is an absolute no brainer to not invest in, for everybody . So many red flags.

So you are talking about scam accusations thread against them? There are many for most of casinos but they are doing business with legit cause and token have on casino utility and extra benefits to players but investors see profits motive also so they invest in it but don't understand on which grounds you are justifying yourself? So what if other token you talking about rug people so will it have any value? Rollbit is also established in market among community which is why we are seeing pumps but at last we have our own opinions.

I won't favor Rollbit exchange but the token has nothing to do with an exchange's accusations because a token a simply a form of crypto-currency made to work on the ecosystem of an exchange, and if the users of the exchange like it then they will most probably try to invest in such coins. I still don't think that such coins could provide any good value to traders or investors because they are mainly featured for the ones who want to enjoy some extra perks on the exchanges.
2618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why bitcoin has 21million supply on: August 02, 2023, 09:42:15 AM

Why was the decision made to cap the total supply of Bitcoin at 21 million BTC specifically? it could be 10million, 100million, why the specific number "21"
was it a deliberate and well thought out decision, or was it a bit arbitrary?
i wanted to understand the reasoning behind this particular number "21" and whether any historical or technical factors played a role in determining it.

You know that some people consider odd numbers like 7, 11, 21, 27, ... and others as the lucky numbers, and that's why making the total number of Bitcoin at 21 million would be a lucky thing for its users. I believe that the people who have faith in numerology knows better that some numbers can make projects far more luckier than the other numbers, and that can also be a reason to set the limit of Bitcoin to 21 million only.

Another important factor that might have been considered while limiting the total supply of Bitcoin to 21 million would be that the amount is quite a reliable amount to make a currency worth grow over time when it receives more purchases. The value of Bitcoin should be far lower if Satoshi has set its supply to something 100 million, and it would also require a lot more time to mine those 100 million Bitcoin.

While setting the value to 10 million would be a good thing to some extent but the total Bitcoin's should have already be mined till this date and the miners won't be getting incentivize for their effort of mining. I think Satoshi set that number according to a strategy that only he knew, and because of that Bitcoin is still working in its best way, and it's growing in value after each halving event.
2619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Not Crypto, The SEC Confirms on: August 02, 2023, 09:33:28 AM
The SEC distinguishes Bitcoin from other cryptocurrencies and considers it to be a decentralized digital cash, exempting it from the classification of "security" that applies to many other tokens.

Well finally SEC got the real idea behind the creation of Bitcoin and that's a really good news. Bitcoin is actually decentralized digital cash but due to many factors it can be used as the best asset to gain profits for the long term. Look the fiat based cash system won't give us a lot of profits because the fiat based currencies can go down in value anytime while the Bitcoin is a sure way to be profitable for those who want to hold it for long periods.

I also agree that other crypto-currencies are only there because of Bitcoin and they don't really have anything special other than the features they have. A currency doesn't get worthy because of its features, but it gets worthy when people find it as a valuable form to trade good with it. Although, I agree that most of the crypto-currencies can be used for the purpose of trading goods but none of them can come close to Bitcoin when the matter is about decentralization.

I hope that SEC and other governmental bodies will soon accept that Bitcoin is the cash of future, and the future economies will be run by Bitcoin or at least they will implement Bitcoin along with the fiat based system. The future of Bitcoin is very bright and those who are aware about Bitcoin will be among the knowledgeable generation of the coming decades. I love Bitcoin and seeing a news like this always makes me happy. I wish that Bitcoin may grow to very high values in future, and more and more businesses should implement it as an acceptable form of payment.
2620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again. Will you take it? on: August 02, 2023, 09:23:33 AM
Hey fellow gamblers, I don't know if this question has been asked before on this forum. If it has , please let me know and I will lock it and move it to archival.

My question is this, if you were given 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again for the rest of your life, will you take it? Considering that first you will already be rich or the prospect of getting rich is high from it. And also if you play your cards right by investing the 5 Bitcoin properly, it could also mean generational wealth. Or will you say that 5 Bitcoins can't match the thrill and pleasure that comes from gambling, be it at a physical casino or an online casino.

Of course if someone gives me 5 Bitcoin then I would give up on gambling without any question. For someone like me Bitcoin is far more worthier than gambling and if some body gives me 5 Bitcoin then I would give up on gambling for sure, but who would give someone that many Bitcoin in 2023, and why should they give someone that amount of Bitcoin just to end up the gambling?

I don't know about the gambling addicts but for people like me 5 Bitcoin would be a life changing opportunity as trading with 5 Bitcoin would allow me to earn far more profits than someone could ever dream in the world of gambling. In the end Bitcoin is still the winner for gamblers who just gamble for entertainment purpose.
