2621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running a node and NTFs on cores. on: March 28, 2023, 01:27:51 PM
Sir, sorry am making it difficult to understand. What I mean by spreadsheet software is example of Microsoft excel, WPS, Minitab Statistical software or google workplace.
I don't understand what any of that has to do with setting up and configuring your node. Huh

The error message is your device does not support this program. And am using Lenovo ideapad S400 Touch.
What are the specs of that device?
What tutorial are you following to run a node?
2622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Running a node and NTFs on cores. on: March 27, 2023, 01:32:31 PM
You need to provide much more information than that if you expect someone to help you. I have the feeling you used Google translate to make that post. Maybe you would be more comfortable asking this question in your local language forum if it exists on Bitcointalk.

The info you gave can be compared to someone going to the doctor and saying "I feel bad, it hurts" and that's it. Make the doctor figure out the rest.

What kind of node are you trying to run?
Is it even a Bitcoin node (asking since you are mentioning NFTs)?
What software are you using?
What hardware do you have?
What error messages do you see?
Any logs that show those error messages?
Are you using a guide you found on the forum or somewhere else, and which one?
2623  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does miners hash rate remain constant? on: March 27, 2023, 01:15:21 PM
<Snip>
As odolvlobo mentioned, it's not just miners that sell bitcoin's on the market. But yeah, they impact the price the same way you and me affect it if we submit buy and sell orders. It's obvious that miners who sell their block rewards want to keep earning the same or more when they dump their coins on the market. If they earn $30k today, they aren't going to be happy earning $15k after the next halving. The solution: They request higher prices from those buying their coins. But all other market participants have to play ball and also ask more.

But it only works if there is enough demand and people are interested in paying more. So, it's a combination of supply and demand, the fact that miners earn less for the same amount of work, more interest and adoption, bitcoin getting some positive media attention due to the halving, which results in new investors coming in, etc.

The recommended fee is 4 satoshi per byte which is not too much in my opinion.
It's not too much, but it sounds too low if you ask me. I doubt your transaction would get a high priority if you used such fees. Maybe it was like that when you wrote that post, but not now.

I don't know if you consider Bitcoin as real Bitcoin on other chains except for lightning. Some people even think the lightning network Bitcoin is not real.
It's not real Bitcoin. It's a token pegged to the value of bitcoin. For example, if you transfer BTC over the BSC chain and out of Binance, the exchange gets to keep your real BTC and you transfer an altcoin. Lightning Network doesn't help much in a situation where I need to create a new channel to someone/someplace because I still need to make an on-chain funding transaction. And it's on-chain where the congestion is. Same thing when I want to close my channel and get control of my coins.
2625  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My wallet has been hacked. What to do? on: March 26, 2023, 04:14:11 PM
I am sure that even if it is confirmed that the attack was successful not due to user error, but using some kind of wallet vulnerability, Electrum does not compensate for the losses to its users, as Nicehash did in a similar situation.
Electrum doesn't run a for-profit business. They don't make money on our use of their software, so there is no pool of funds from where you could get compensated. Their software is free, you don't pay any fees to them for the product you use. It's open-source software where each user is responsible for protecting their sensitive information.
2626  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Stack wallet for mobile? on: March 26, 2023, 04:05:08 PM
Yes. Thank you very much SFR10 for your command to try to do some generate address and the result is that the balance at address bc1q7d3yfaj36uwylgu33gr2uujr8m9l65pec3rqrg I can get back.
I was panicking too, but this is a valuable experience in using Stack Wallet.
Synchronization and connection issues can happen. The first thing you do in that case is check your receiving address/addresses in a blockchain explorer. If there aren't too many of them, of course. There is no need to worry if you don't see any outgoing connections that you didn't initiate. After that, try to fix whatever is wrong with your connection. Worse case scenario, you have to abandon Stack wallet and import your seed into a different client, like Electrum (ticking the BIP39 seed box during the setup stage). Stack wallet generates standard BIP39 seeds for Bitcoin that you can import in other wallets if needed.
2627  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sent BTC but when I sent to my address it made two transactions then disappeared on: March 26, 2023, 08:01:04 AM
Your wallet and system have definitely been compromised at some point in the past. The legacy address you posted in your OP has had 40 transactions, all of them using high mining fees. The earliest transaction dates back to 6 March and the latest one happened tonight. Whatever fake software or malware you used, it's still tricking other people to fall into the same trap.
2628  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My wallet has been hacked. What to do? on: March 26, 2023, 07:30:26 AM
<Snip>
In most cases concerning the theft of bitcoins, it's the user who made one or multiple mistakes. The problem is, people don't want to admit making mistakes, not to themselves and not to others. It's always something else that caused it.

Everything you do on that computer can potentially be a landmine because that's what happens if the device that holds your keys is constantly online and used for various other activities. You need to separate that. Getting a hardware wallet is the easiest way. Getting a second laptop with a genuine OS that you aren't going to use for other things online is another way. Using a completely airgapped solution is the least user-friendly but safest option.
2629  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: A virus infected laptop, how safe? on: March 26, 2023, 07:09:28 AM
There are several forks of Trezor One (OneKey, ProKey, KeepKey, etc), and I am not sure how they are dealing with this issue with infected laptop.
Based on recent history and findings, do you think that OneKey and their team seem like competent and knowledgeable developers because they are working with open-source software? Unencrypted and obtainable communication between OneKey chips shows they weren't up to the task. Luckily, the right people found the vulnerability and helped in patching it.
2630  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Launched the First Bitcoin Wallet for KaiOS-powered Feature Phones! 🚀 on: March 26, 2023, 06:52:17 AM
I can understand that you are aiming at a different user market in sub-Saharan Africa where people live very different lives from us in the West. Your explanation about them not having the means to purchase phones, laptops, and many other things is ok.

But I don't understand what those reddit links are supposed to show. They lead to threads where you look for someone to test your app and no one seemed interested to do it. You said that user feedback led you to create a custodial service because that's what your users want, but we don't see that from those threads. Another thing. How would you even discuss that and get feedback from the poorest of people living without electronic devices, internet, even electricity in the areas you are targeting?
2631  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals!|ARGENTINA & AVFC on: March 26, 2023, 06:24:14 AM
What I mean by certain times is hours, days or even weekends to make each transaction in order to get less fees as stated by @blackboss.
I didn't understand before and in my previous opinion it was clearly written if I asked whether it was true that different times determined the transaction fees were true and real.
If you are using Bitcoin, you can still get slightly lower fees on the weekend, but like I mentioned earlier, Ordinals have pretty much made the cheapest of BTC transactions impossible nowadays. Right now, we have close to 50k of unconfirmed transactions. It wasn't uncommon that this number was down to 1-3k a few months ago, but not anymore. But if you are using alternative chains that have cheaper fees and quicker block times anyways, I wouldn't concern myself about the time you make your transaction.
2632  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My wallet has been hacked. What to do? on: March 25, 2023, 03:26:22 PM
Tell us a bit more about the computer where you used Electrum and which holds your achieved seed phrase.

What do you use it for? It makes no sense not telling the truth because it's an unfortunate learning experience. You are not going to get your BTC back, but you can learn what you did wrong and not repeat it again.

Do you use a genuine and licensed OS or a pirated one?
Do you use other pirated and cracked software on it?
Do you have other wallets installed on the same computer for any cryptocurrencies?
Is the .rar password easy to guess or bruteforce? Did you use the same password somewhere else?
Do you play cracked PC games, download torrents, watch porn, browse any other forums, software or hacking related?
Who else uses or has access to your computer?
Have you received any emails recently that you have clicked on or opened?
Are you active on Telegram or other social media and in what capacity?
What did you do in the days prior to your coins getting hacked? Did you visit any new sites, installed new software, talked with new people, anything out of the ordinary?
2633  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Launched the First Bitcoin Wallet for KaiOS-powered Feature Phones! 🚀 on: March 25, 2023, 02:46:59 PM
What is the difference between using this *wallet* and creating an account on a centralized platform?
If both are custodial, and they are, there is no difference no matter what sweet words someone uses to explain their service.

Or at least, will you guarantee customer funds if there is any hack or security bugs?
Even if OP says yes, do you want to find yourself in a situation where you will have to find out? If we look back in history to the custodial services that got hacked or exit scanned, we can see it's very difficult to get your money back. It takes a long time and patience. Binance paid some of its users out of their own pockets because they have the money to spend. It made sense because the losses weren't something significant to a giant like Binance.

Can the user access the private key to recover his coins, or is the only way through email?
If users had the private keys, the service would be non-custodial. And that doesn't seem to be the case here.
2634  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: A virus infected laptop, how safe? on: March 25, 2023, 10:44:06 AM
I wanted to say something similar to dkbit98 concerning the Trezor One, but he was quicker this time.

Not all viruses are the same and can't cause the same harm to your device and software. Maybe your AV detected some ad trackers. Those won't cause you any loss of your crypto. On the other hand, maybe it's something much more serious, like a keylogger.

As dkbit98, mentioned, you can't enter your PIN or a passphrase on a Trezor One. You have to use the Trezor Suite for that. A keylogger tracking your keyboard entries and recording your screen could be a real danger because of that. On the other hand, if you use a Trezor T or a Ledger device, than the mentioned entries are done on the hardware wallet itself. The keylogger wouldn't have any data to log. Unless you have saved your PIN/seed/passphrase somewhere digitally, and you are opening that file. But that's something you shouldn't be doing anyways.
2635  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Trust wallet update on: March 25, 2023, 10:28:09 AM
My question is it safe to move our funds to an app that is not fully developed and still in beta mode?
There is no right or wrong answer here. They are still working on it to create a final product, so it's expected there are certain bugs that users can notice and report. Whether there is a serious vulnerability or even malicious code created by the development team is hard to tell. A beta product doesn't mean there is something wrong with the app where you will lose your money. Something like that can happen whether you are using an early access or final product.

Sure, the wallet is open-source, and you can check that if you know how to. But the average Joe doesn't. And since it's a relatively new product, it surely hasn't been audited and scrutinized as much as Electrum or Bitcoin Core, for example.

My suggestion: Don't hold many coins in any mobile wallet, Stack wallet or any other.
dkbit98 created Stack wallet for mobile? in January. You can read a little about it there.
2636  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinomi wallet hacked, all funds stolen on: March 25, 2023, 10:08:41 AM
This is very strange.
"Someone can only access your coins if; - He has access to your recovery phrase/private keys. - If he has access to your device and knows your app password."

I guess you mean it's strange that the OP claims Coinomi is somehow at fault for his coins being stolen. If not, let's analyze those support comments. I didn't read the sources, so I am only focusing on the parts you highlighted.

There is nothing strange about what the source says. Whoever has the seed or private keys can remotely access and spend whatever coins are stored in the corresponding addresses. If someone gets hold of your phone where you have Coinomi installed, he can open the app without a password. However, if he wants to make a transaction, he needs to enter the password. If he wants to see the seed or make account changes, he also needs a password.
2637  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Launched the First Bitcoin Wallet for KaiOS-powered Feature Phones! 🚀 on: March 25, 2023, 09:59:38 AM
- Given user feedback and testing it is custodial
So you asked your community of potential users whether they preferred a custodial wallet (where you hold their keys) or one where you are in control of their money (a non-custodial one), and they said we want you to do it?! Where and how did you communicate with those users to get such results, any links?

- Yes to security audits
Provide more info please. Who audited your software? Did they release a public report?
2638  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Guy buys Ledger on Amazon... his crypto gets stolen... on: March 25, 2023, 08:08:30 AM
It would not make sense if the device itself prompted him to visit a fake website, I don't know how the attacker would mess with the device itself that way... What are the chances he bought a counterfeit Ledger or the Ledger box as altered so we would visit the fake website after going through the setup.
If we are going to believe his unbelievable story, then the chances of him having bought a fake device are 100%. A legit Ledger HW does not communicate with you and tell you what software to install and which websites to visit. It doesn't tell you there is a new app update, LL update, or firmware update. You check that yourself.

A ledger with 3rd-party firmware can't connect to the official Ledger Live app servers. So, he couldn't have passed the onboarding process, installed the crypto apps, generated the seed, etc. The other possibility is that he used a genuine device with fake firmware and with a fake Ledger Live app. Of course, we can't rule out that the whole story is just a big lie.
2639  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals!|ARGENTINA & AVFC on: March 25, 2023, 08:01:37 AM
Is it true that there are certain times that provide lower transaction fees?
All this time I did not know about this because when making each transaction I did not really pay attention to the fees I had to pay.
After all, I am a small gambler, so every transaction I make is never with a large enough nominal amount so that the costs I need to pay are relatively low.
If indeed this is real, maybe it can be a reference for me later if one day I get a big win and want to withdraw all of my winnings so I can save on transaction fees.
I am not sure what you mean exactly when you say "times". Do you mean part of the day, like in the morning or evening? Or part of the week (business days, weekends)?
Since Ordinals got introduced to Bitcoin, it doesn't matter when you make you transaction. The network is constantly congested. It's become even worse because what used to be 20-30k of unconfirmed transactions, is now 50-60k.

If you are talking about withdrawal fees on casinos and sportbooks, it is especially important that you pay attention to that if you are a small-time gambler. Small wagers equals small wins most of the time. If there is a hefty fee when you withdraw, that win becomes even smaller.
2640  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: March 24, 2023, 08:16:14 PM
What is your relation to Wasabi?
He answered that in one of his previous posts. He said he is a contributor.

I'm a contributor.
It's too vague of an answer in my opinion and can mean many different things. Are you part of their development or engineering team? Are you someone who inspects their code for other reasons and contributes to code changes? Or are you someone that "contributes" to better the image of Wasabi and zkSNACKs on Bitcointalk? Maybe you are the mysterious co-host or part of their crew. Wink
