I did a recheck on the Morse code.
Using the following suggested site for translation

Just a reminder this is out there for translating and manipulating Morse... http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/morse.php  rumkin has many many other useful tools for these types of puzzles as well. Smiley

The character that could not be translated : "---." stands for "!" according to this table.

this translates the last series of columns after "THEY CANNOT ATTACK WHAT THEY DO NOT SEE"

ISTOPW
ORDS T
LWG ! NY
AEFDMH
THMETNY
TWTEWTPOE
KEUEAL
ENEDLAW

Still brewing on the BTC transactions sequence...
[0.00404][0.005]@O[0.0009]#CHCKUSER[0.00404]!DO!!!"DONOT"HTTP

I translate the 404 to --> Not found, possibly indicating we did not find the (complete) clue.
The 0.0009 is strange, its is not binary due to transaction fees and the "9" seems to be right shifted one digit too far to indicate a number.

coinartist seems to have vanished from all kinds of social sites. --> checkuser?--> not found....  cannot attack? Do not see?
Using Google cache a transcript of her last twitter post can be found, referring to this puzzle.
dimensions are mentioned (23" * 36") (first columns then rows... it could have been a hint....)
Link to the source is mentioned. "i.imgur.com/Uc6VAnV.jpg"

Could do with a new hint thought, riddles are not my thing...... and a couple of restful nights and productive days... :-)

23 going down 36 going left Wink

I also thought that we are looking for a clue that will lead us to a URL but the http 404 transaction suggests otherwise.
More like you will get nothing there....

In the original picture http://www.wired.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/20140430-065-Dark-Wallet.jpg, Amir Taaki is wearing a colored bracelet that has a strong resemblance to the colored squares.

While we're on that, the logo on his shirt bears a resemblance to the rays behind them in the artwork.

Oooh, sorry but that reminds me of the Hiroshima incident......

Hi all, noob here. Just read through the thread, and it seems like the puzzle has been direct? Anyone research the phrase "they cannot attack what they cannot see," yet?

About a thousand times by now.

Also researched and used the words: stealth, hidden, safe, out of reach, untouchable, etc etc....

EDIT: Sorry, forgot my manners Smiley

Welcome aboard bro/sis and stick around.
We need all the help we can get Wink

If you rotate/shift using the alphabet, with a single step interval.... I guess you always get the alphabet in each column  Grin

26 characters, isn't it?

EDIT: Can someone please confirm, this could be important.....

Yes its normal that you get the alphabet at each place if you do a complete shift (-13 to 13 or 1 to 26 doesnt matter). While I see some words in there, I dont think thats the way to go. thanks anyway, was worth a try Smiley

Still not able to do something substantial (have family from out of town visiting today). Maybe its possible that the other picture of her contains a clue? There was some sort of binary in there. IIRC the reddit post about the 1st picture was just some OP bashing and noone did even care the code. I will look into this later.

Crap!

So, we have no clues again.....

Erm, and what are we supposed to find from an image we can barely see?

And yes there are similar colors, but I don't think it matters, though I could be wrong.

in raw form with spaces for delimiters:

Code:

100 bits.

Sorry just noticed that.
I think the http and 404 transaction makes it clear that we will not find anything there that leads to an address (URL)

and nonsense after that.

Bro/sister, can you explain how you went about this?
I had a few slight mistakes in there, but what I did was to start from top left corner, green dot is a dash, red is a dot in morse. Every letter or yellow dot is a pause. When you reach the bottom or the end of the line at the bottom of the image, or because the two figures are in the way, just loop around to the top on the next column to the right. Convert that from morse to plaintext. If you seperate the english words out of that string, and take the first letters of each word, you get THEY CAN NOT ATTACT WHAT THEY CAN NOT SEE.

Great!

Apparently you guys are much better than me on this.

Any idea on where do we go from here?

Here's the image run through some filters to bring out the noise in the darker parts of the image. You can see where there's been some digital editing, especially in the backgrounds of some squares, but it's hard to tell if that was for artistic reasons/clarity or if it's a message. Also note the noise in the black border areas - it looks black in the original image but there's some data in there. It's hard to tell if what's in the borders is an artifact of photography/scanning or if there's something hidden in it.

There is definitely something hidden there and that is what we are looking for....
The key to extract the private key from the image Wink
2637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 2.94 BTC Private Key Prize on: June 28, 2014, 02:17:39 PM
It wasn't Shorena that posted that result (as far as I can remember) it was moinen.

What led to you to start from top to bottom instead of bottom to top?

I started bottom to top due to the transactions 23-1.
Obviously i was wrong  Tongue

Actually, looking back on it, we should credit Prospero as the first person with a partly accurate translation seeing that plus the "SOS + rEDGrN" hint got me back on morse code. Then moinen had the first fully accurate translation. Smiley I wish I could tag messages in here or something, it's hard to sort the good ideas that were ultimately fruitless from the actual progress. Smiley

I also started bottom to top, but when that didn't work, I tried top to bottom. I'm using python manipulate the csv and I built a dict to handle the morse code translation so it was fairly trivial for me to check against the complete data set in various directions.

Indeed, and we shall, should I ever find the solution Wink
Shorena included of course Wink
2638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ARG Puzzle with 2.94 BTC Private Key Prize on: June 28, 2014, 02:08:57 PM
Bro/sister, can you explain how you went about this?

I arrived at this independently from shorena, this is what I did:

1) take the entire string of characters, reading from top to bottom, then left to right (starting with green yellow red green yellow ....). I think that OP's transactions counting down from 23-1 may have been a clue to read the morse from top to bottom. OTOH we still haven't accounted for the weird lapses in the countdown.

Code:
!#@!#@!@@n@i@@@@F@!o!@!@3!@!u@#@@@!w@@A@!@@B!@!!1!!!J!@!d@b!@!@e!!!#!@@#@D@!I!@!@5!j!@#@6@@@s!H!@h!!!#!!!3!@z!#@@F!!C@c@!U@!!@$@#!@@!2!D@@7@!@@4!x!m@!@T@@R!@!@m!@!2@!#!@!@#@U!@!@B@!E!L!@!@#@@@@i!@!H@b!@!!y@!!#@@X@@@r@@@@r@@@@o@!#@@@M@@@@#@!v@@#!!a!i@u!@!@#@@@@1!D!!!N@@@@O@@Y!U@r!@!@#@@@@d!!!8!@!!J!!!t@@!g!P@@@@#!@@#@!2@@@d@@@@o!!!4!@r@9!@#@c!#!!!i@!h!c@@@@#!#@@#@!!@J@@@t@#!#@r!a@@@@v@y@!@L@C!@e!@@b@@@D!3!!!u@!!@J@!!#!!!#@!@E!@@w@@@#!i@!@@h@!!#!!@f!!!@6!@#!@!!w@!r@2@@!@e!@@7!!A@@@@5!G@@@@#!!b@S!k!@Y!@!!k!#@!!c!1@h@!!o!a@!!@t!!!@#!@!n@H@@!v@9@!T@!@@z@#!@#@#!@@#@!@@#@!#@!!

2) treat green as dash (0), red as dot (1), and all other dots/characters as spaces between letters. (note: the set of valid morse letters has some weird limitations, so it was pretty easy to quickly determine that green should be dash, going in that direction. red as dash broke pretty quickly.)

Code:
0 10 1011 1 1111 10 0101 010 1 1110 11 1011 0100 000 010 1 0101 000 011 1 10 0101 0 01 1 111 0 01 000 000 01 0 11 00 1 10 1001 1 0110 0 11 1011 0 0 101 11 0101 010 10 0101 1 0101 10 0 0101 1111 010 1 0100 100 11 111 1111 1111 10 111 1111 10 11 00 0 1 0101 1111 0 000 1111 11 0 1 0101 1111 000 0100 000 110 0 1111 011 10 111 1111 000 01 1 01 1 0 000 10 0 1111 0 11 1001 111 1 0 1 0 1111 1 101 1 01 011 111 0 000 1001 100 000 101 011 111 0 1011 100 001 0001 01 0100 10 1 1101 011 00 1111 0 1111 00 1 0 01 0100 0 100 0 1 100 0 1001 0001 010 1 110 1 10 1011 1 01 1 011 1011 10 100

3) apply morse code translation, which gives you:

Code:
TALEHACKEVILYOKECODEACTNESTNOONTIMEAPEXTILTTRICKACECATCHKEYWISHHASHAIMTECHTOHITECHOYOUTHDASHONENETOATHTIPSETETHERENDSTOPWORDSTLWG?NYAEFDMHTHMETNYTWTEWTP?KEUEALENEDLAW

So, one interesting thing to note is there's some "junk" at the end after "STOP WORDS"... in puzzles like this junk often isn't. Smiley The two '?' characters are invalid letters in morse code.

Then from the above we got the word list, along with the embedded "THEY CAN NOT ATTACK WHAT THEY CAN NOT SEE" message.

It wasn't Shorena that posted that result (as far as I can remember) it was moinen.

What led to you to start from top to bottom instead of bottom to top?

I started bottom to top due to the transactions 23-1.
