2621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: September 22, 2017, 03:59:33 PM
When can we expect next airdrop?
and is it true that rewards are getting reduced

Next airdrop, if rules didn't change, will be in 6 October. The reward will be same as the previous one, in September

Pretty sure it was already announced that the next airdrop will be done in November.

I don't get why it has to be so difficult to look for the following information. They are also very easy to find: advertised on both the opening page of this thread and on the main website byteball.org where there's also a very nice countdown.
On a completely different note, I do hope that we will be seeing a steady growth in volume before the airdrop. It would be good to go back to 0.15 before that.

Quote
What you receive, is proportional to your balances in BTC and Bytes on the Full Moon of November, on November 4, 2017 at 05:23 UTC:
BTC to bytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 6.25 MB (0.00625 GB)
BTC to blackbytes: 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 2.1111 * 6.25 million blackbytes (money supply of blackbytes is 2.1111 times more than that of bytes)
Bytes to bytes: 1 byte on any Byteball address gives you 0.1 new bytes
Bytes to blackbytes: 1 byte on linked Byteball address gives you 0.21111 blackbytes

Putting this another way, to receive 1 GB from the distribution, you need to already hold 160 BTC or 10 GB.  These same holdings also give you 2.1111 GBB (giga-blackbyte).

To participate, link your Byteball and Bitcoin addresses before the 10th round:

1.  Download and install the wallet by following the above links.

2.  Start a chat with the Transition Bot (you find it in the Bot Store in the wallet).  Follow the instructions of the Transition Bot to prove your Bitcoin balance.

JD from JP is becoming one of my favourite Bitcoin is dead proponents.
Anyway, people here ain't stupid.
I see real people, normal people like all of us buying good chunk of coins.
One day we will keep only a few dollars into our bank accounts and our wealth will all be stored on pvt keys.

2625  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-09-20] Australia Ends Double Taxation of Bitcoin, Cryptocurrencies on: September 21, 2017, 02:53:49 PM
So how do we get an Australian passport? Shall I marry an aussie girl? Joking aside I must say I’m a bit envy if that’s the case because I currently live and work in a country in which is not easy to live off bitcoin. This is going to attract many more business there. I would personally move if I could and not only for this bitcoin friendly environment.
2626  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 21, 2017, 02:46:50 PM
Hey guys, the stock market is going to go up forever! The public is sure of it.

Interesting, even the huge economic catastrophe of Lehman Brothers et al. back in 2008 did not push it down much. Oh, yes it will go up forever!  Grin Grin Grin
As far as I'm concerned, the only good thing that came out from 2008 is the Bitcoin White Paper.
Bitcoin deserves that kind of steady growth, s&p500 will collapse eventually

https://twitter.com/bitcom21/status/910579598588391424

I think this is a largely forgotten but large factor in this. Huobi and OKcoin were gambling parked customer funds in dodgy wealth schemes without telling them.

They're going to get nailed to the wall for this among other things.
Interesting news. I think most of us remember those ugly "zero fees" days where leading chinese exchanges had totally fake bitcoin trading volumes. In those days they could have done all sort of crap with customer funds. And now we now they did. Bitcoin is not about that, it's good if they will get nailed to the wall.

Thank you for reminding me about that! Once I wrote it on the blackboard and my math teacher did not take it well Smiley

Absolute must-read this morning from a man who reviewed Bitcoin code in 2008.

Wow, what an amazing read by one of the few people who met Satoshi and worked with him at the very beginning.

Quote
Satoshi held - and is holding, I suppose - himself to a nearly inhuman standard of behavior in terms of refusing to give any remotest hint of possibly scamming anybody.
That's the answer for those who believe that Bitcoin is a scam/ponzi scheme etc.
2629  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-09-19] China Bans Bitcoin Executives From Leaving the Country on: September 20, 2017, 05:50:25 PM
I guess they are setting an example for their citizen.  I am not sure whether this is a psychological warfare against the bitcoin supporter in China and give fear to them. But this kind of strategy is really effective especially to those who do not want to be compromised of whatever stuff and go against their country.  This might be the first step of neutralizing bitcoin supporter in China.  Or probably there are criminal cases charged on these people and China needs to stop them from leaving their country.  I hope they do not ban them in living in their country Smiley

It is about control of their people. If the Chinese people have money that is outside of Communist Party control, the government of China loses control.

Isn't Bitcoin just about that?  Wink
What you wrote does not simply apply to China but to every country/government. Bitcoin is a decentralized protocol. As I've been saying over and over again we are not going MySpace or Napster here. We control cryptographic keys and not Bitcoin. Good luck to them to find about mine. Or theirs, it does not matter.
When the mining is spread across many machines, no one machine is telling others what to do.
2630  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-09-19] SegWit2x, NYA Bitcoin Agreement Loses Another Signatory on: September 20, 2017, 05:45:39 PM
November is approaching guys. The SegWit2x development group is supposed to release a working software for the Agreement to take off. Looking at how this has been seen by Core we are going to have yet another split of the bitcoin blockchain. Really curious to know how this is going to unfold.
2631  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 20, 2017, 05:36:53 PM
The correlation between wealth, power and opportunity and income is much greater than that between intelligence and income.
Much greater.
Dilbert's "Salary Theorem" states:
Quote
"Scientists and Engineers can never earn as much as administrators and sales people."

This theorem can now be proved mathematically:
Given:
Power = Work / Time and, Knowledge is Power
Substituting knowledge for power, we obtain: Knowledge = Work/ Time
If time = money, then: Knowledge = Work/ Money
Solving this equation for money, we obtain: Money = Work/ Knowledge
Therefore, as knowledge approaches zero, money approaches infinity, regardless of the amount of work done.

Conclusion: the less you know, the more you make.

Simple and clean

We had one month of pure euphoria and now we are basically where we were a month ago (-2% in the last 30 days).
All the 4 digits milestones keep reminding us how strong is the psychological resistance when hovering around those price levels. At the time of writing I see $3904 on Bitstamp

If you feel too bad during dumps it's a sign that you're overinvested. Try to stay more diversified

From a certain point of view...

I didn't choose to become over invested in Bitcoin. Bitcoin decided to become over invested in me.

Put another way, my Bitcoin hoard became worth more than my fiat hoard and investments.

All on it's own. All I did was stay principled and HODLd.

You can always spare some if you would like to share the burden  Grin

Hi Jamie,

We've never met, and I never expected to find myself in the position of writing you an open letter. But this weekend, days after your observations on Bitcoin, strangers all over the world, plus old friends like my high school best friend's younger brother, were still tweeting or messaging me about your comments, so here goes.
