I completely agree that cops need to be held to a higher standard than everyone else, simply because they have a higher authority than most. They need to be the ones that are NEVER making mistakes.

It upsets me that the facts of the interaction between the cop and the kid haven't even been sorted out yet and people are protesting.

The protestors seem to be fighting racism with racism and that will only breed more racism....
2622  Other / Politics & Society / Re: POLL: Would you be a Libertarian if it wasn't for the Internet? on: August 15, 2014, 07:25:53 PM
We need to do away with the political parties - parties are for when the work is over and there's only work to be done in the US political system - they're causing the inactivity among politicians.

The existence of political parties supports the face-off or opposition attitude. We need a political system that rewards politicians for working together, compromising, getting things done.

Unfortunately, we may have passed the tipping point of correcting our political system. The pride of going into that profession is so low that the best and brightest would dare not apply for an open opportunity!

What a spam thread - the topic is nonsense and the content doesn't match the title.

This should be deleted.
2624  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Watch: human tide of Yazidis scramble onto helicopter in rush to escape death on: August 15, 2014, 07:18:42 PM
With all the arms smuggling behind the scenes and the colossal failures in American middle east foreign policy has created and radicalized quite a formidable force and set them loose going after defenseless people creating a never before felt humanitarian feeling in many Americans that perhaps are willing to til the soil over there for another tens years and beyond. If times were good, this would be a no brainer and already in full gear.

After toppling Saddam Hussain, the Americans should have made Iraq a federal republic, with more power to the provinces. That is the only way to unite a country which is deeply divided along the ethnic and sectarian lines. But what they did was to create another dictator in the form of Nouri Al Maliki. IMO, Iraq should be divided in to 3 federal subjects (one each for the Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds), with the minorities such as Yazidis, Assyrians and Shabaks having their own autonomous regions.

At what point should the people of Iraq taken the lead in creating the solution you believe to be most beneficial to them? The American's liberated the country from a Dictator and the remaining leaders did not have the courage to lead - or at least that's how it appears.

The Americans are damned if they do and damned if they don't...

Don't sweat the payments - Lightlord has a great reputation, left a post a few days back that payment would be soon, and he'll likely pay an amount equal to whatever post count you've tallied since the last payment (up to the maximums of course).

Show some faith and focus your time on writing constructive posts where you think you can contribute to the conversation in all the various discussions going on in this forum!
2626  Economy / Services / Re: Primedice Collective Referral Link - LOW COMMISSION on: August 15, 2014, 07:00:27 PM
I think this is already going on by the user Howzar.. Check this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=738554.0

Howzer has one too, but this appears to be a competing/parallel option. The OP has opened a new pool.

My question is, where do we put the referral link? It's obviously not the same as a signature ad.
2627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do we have too many alt coins? on: August 15, 2014, 06:57:47 PM
The US had multiple currencies when we were a collection of colonies. Europe had multiple currencies before the EU was formed. If we're thinking of multiple crypto coins as currency, medium of exchange, I think it's fine to have multiple versions and then as the ecosystem matures some or many of those currencies will be abandoned. If you're thinking of these currencies like stocks, where some will appreciate in value, i think that's a dangerous way to think about it. Maybe you can make some money on speculation but that's clearly not the ideal purpose for their creation.
2628  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper wallets on: August 15, 2014, 06:55:07 PM
Are you asking how do you memorize your paper key so you don't have to have it on you when you want to use it?

There are numerous memorization techniques that will amaze you with how much you can easily remember in your head via some seemingly nonsensical story or other easy to remember phrase.

You can check your balance (or the balance of any key) through: blockchain.info

And yes, you can continue to send money to that paper wallet as long as you remember the public key/address. A lot of people keep their savings on a paper wallet and have an online wallet for transactional purposes only.
2629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Huge faucets database for newbies (no mining needed) on: August 15, 2014, 06:49:13 PM
You should list out faucets with pay rates, the activity required to achieve payment, and the frequency (times per day) one can conduct the activity to achieve the payment.

Providing links isn't as useful as you writing out the summary that can then be referred to by every person that comes along in the future with the same questions.
2630  Other / Off-topic / Re: BTC Balance of BitcoinTalk Members on: August 15, 2014, 06:37:59 PM
0.1 but how do i vote

You may need to have more activity (beyond Newbie) to access the poll. However when others open the thread the poll is accessible immediately at the top of the thread discussion, above the original post.

I agree with others that you should add BTC amounts into the double and triple digits. I'd be interested in knowing how many respondents have big volumes of coins (potentially from the earlier days).
2631  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Be aware of primedice and Stunna on: August 15, 2014, 06:29:55 PM
Tim Heidl,

You're not presenting any new facts or an opposing argument to prove Stunna's defense wrong. Think of this forum and viewers of this thread as your jury of peers...and right now Stunna's explanation of what happened with screenshots of emails and other proof are clearly showing you may not have explained your "complaint" accurately...he's showing that you may be lying.

It sucks that you bet your monthly salary and lost and maybe you should seek some help for a potential gambling addiction. There might be people on this forum willing to help you. Last, while your wife may be upset if you're honest with her and work to NOT gamble your salary away in the future she'll probably support your recovery or fix of the problem.
2632  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 15, 2014, 06:19:42 PM
Stunna,

Do you know how much revenue you earn from signature ad campaign participants/"employees"? If you have the house edge and a significant portion of your "employees" are spending their earnings in your dice room, you may cannibalize your business by restricting the ad campaign...just a thought.

I'm sure you have some data and analytics on your business, however if you need someone to run some analysis in Excel, I have some skills and may be able to help.

PM if there is a need and interest.
2633  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn Bitcoins Simply By Posting on: August 15, 2014, 05:50:44 PM
I like this idea. It's the best compromise to keep your ad force as widespread as it is now while keeping the community/forum free from unwanted or "low thought" posts. Raise the standard of constructive posts and you'll be able to manage your time and expense better through the poster force that are only claiming payment for the constructive posts.

I'm two days away from making Member status, which will force me to "graduate" out of the 777 campaign, which is focused on Newbie and Jr Member posters. If the PD ad campaign were only available to me in paid form through referrals I will not be joining the campaign. I don't believe many people click on the PD link to access the site, I believe more people become aware of the PD site and then just google the name to reach the home page.

Perhaps you (Stunna) have data that suggests higher volume from referrals but my signature would not be for sale for payment through referrals only.

Thanks for allowing me and others to respond to your new idea and good luck to you and PD going forward! I hope to play a role in your pay-per-post campaign.

An alternative idea that I've seen a sig campaign try is to basically "kick" certain people and allow the rest to continue posting. In other words you would just be more discerning about who you let continue the campaign. I guess this sounds like what you're proposing but under my idea you would allow MOST sig campaign members to continue as opposed to your idea where I feel like you'll only select a very small number to continue on.

Edit:  another thought is that I know I for one DO deduct non-constructive posts. I mean isn't it possible for you just to kick people who try to scam the system?  Like if someone posts that they did 100 quality posts and you check and see it's only 90, just kick them and don't let them back in. And eventually you'll see who's honest and they can continue on.
2634  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you can't take a $40-$50 price hit without panic selling... on: August 14, 2014, 07:59:22 PM
Is there any proof that anyone is panic selling? Maybe the selling is calculated, large volumes, and therefore pushing the price down as a result. The pops back up are people buying into the discounted price.

The first I heard of panic selling was from you...
2635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We already passed the tipping point of BTC on: August 14, 2014, 06:50:34 PM
Agreed that reaching mainstream adoption is a consequence of having reached the tipping point, not the indication of reaching the tipping point.

Additionally, I think it's hard to have a real conversation about where the tipping point is in the moment, it's something that's best understood after having gone through it.

I don't think we're close to the tipping point yet. The infrastructure that's been created for it could easily disappear - by the creators, the stakeholders, or the government. Additionally, a significant majority of people may know the world "bitcoin" but don't know, care, or believe in the service/purpose/value of Bitcoin.

More retailers (like Dell), more service providers (like Coinbase), and more advocates (like all of us) are what's required to reach the tipping point...but once we believe we've reached it, we'll realize we're well past the tipping point.

One more thought, big swings in BTC price (up or down) help with awareness, but not always with adoption. If the news reports today "BTC to USD price dipped below $500 for the first time since May today" alot of people will be saying "see, I told you so, it's just a fad..."
2636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Declaration Of Bitcoin's Independence on: August 14, 2014, 06:45:54 PM
There's no opportunity for me to watch the videos. Can you explain what your premise, hypothesis, or position is so we can discuss it?
2637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Online payments and Bitcoin - A quick survey on: August 14, 2014, 06:40:53 PM
We need more research like this. Please be sure to post your findings so the community can benefit from your analysis. If we get more researchers to post their reports, perhaps we can petition the Forum to designate an area to BTC research and analysis.

Keep it up!
2638  Economy / Economics / Re: STOP SELLING NOW!! URGENT CALL TO BITSTAMPERS AROUND THE WORLD on: August 14, 2014, 06:14:10 PM
Let the market reflect the interests of the people as naturally as possible!

And your comment about buyers shows you're not very informed on how the buying works. When buying through an exchange the actual buyer has zero control over setting a higher purchase price, the exchange controls what price they pay and they're not going to take a loss simply to support the desires of people holding their wealth in it.

The market needs to remain fair...sellers will push the price down and buyers will push the price up and an increasing level of transactions will stabilize the price to it's rightful level.
2639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best age to introduce your kids to Bitcoin? on: August 14, 2014, 06:08:11 PM
It should happen after your kids understand the concept of currency and the uses of currency for transactions as well as storing value (i.e., saving, loans).

If you don't have these basic concepts covered your kids may not truly understand Bitcoin and if you teach them about Bitcoin without these basic finance concepts they'll be less wise about how they deal with their money/bitcoin/wealth.
2640  Economy / Economics / Re: Why bitcoin will appreciate forever on: August 14, 2014, 06:03:49 PM
Any updates on this theory given the recent and significant sell off this week or based on the new retailers that have entered the market place accepting Bitcoin?

Clearly the price stability or appreciation is important to us all and there's not much thorough research on the topic.
