Withdrawals are taking a long time at free.btc.pt as well. Due to technical reasons, I gather from the chat going on there.

An interesting observation: As part of my Bitcoin Fundraising for Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust I requested free bitcoins from 16 different sites for the last month with the highest frequency I could muster. I managed to accumulate BTC0.00730912 ($1.06). This was actually quite a lot of effort, and it applies to anyone going that route. Was all that effort spent worth it? I think not. Why would you ever think that using free bitcoin faucets would be a good idea for that kind of fundraising? What good is it if one only gets very very small amounts?https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74046.msg1088930#msg1088930Also see this recent post: Thank you very much for this, you have getting me started on BTC and today I will buy some myself There are lots of quotes like that. It may not be worth it to you but many others find it worthwhile for their own reasons.

Thanks for the quick answer. Btw, that first link can be found in the first line of the OP: For information about the Daily Newbie Lotto see here. @portmoy maybe a link in your signature to help people find the information on it... Thanks, I'll consider the suggestion. I don't think it is a big problem though.

There isn't really an easy way to run a faucet anymore because tx fees are so high.
Many of these sites now delay payments to avoid fees on many small transactions, which helps them as well as users who visit these sites often.

A zillion new faucet sites giving 0.00000000000000001 Look at it this way. The less and less that these sites give out for free just means that Bitcoin is rising higher and higher.

Namecoin is perhaps the only legitimate alt coin. It has a use other than what Bitcoin is about, and actually complements Bitcoin. Satoshi even talked about such a decentralized dns use for the blockchain.
It isn't just about being jealous of Bitcoin early adopters and creating a near-clone coin as some kind of get rich quick scheme, like litecoin and so many others.
What happens when asics start coming out for ltc, for example, and a new group of people sees that they have missed that boat too... will new clone-envy-scam-coins keep being created?
There is a lot of nonsense being spread about ltc, trying to make it seem like a legit coin with actual uses and advantages over Bitcoin... all nonsense, and I don't care enough about it to even get into a debate about it so don't bother trying to drag me into that.
Just stick with Bitcoin if you believe in it as a global p2p payment network, and namecoin if you believe in it for decentralized domain name services.
If you are just into cryptocurrency looking to get rich, well speculate with all these new scam coins all you want but don't complain if you get burned.
This is just my opinion... consider it, or dismiss it all, as you choose.
