2621  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Monero get delisted, again on: April 13, 2020, 05:10:17 PM
~
Obviously not, but it's not like they care. Most people who use exchanges to convert XMR are most likely miners and hodlers, the rest use Monero as intended and they completely avoid exchanges.
They do care imo. Looking back at that moment when Binance locked an user's account for using a mixer, I get a good idea that exchanges do have a problem with those willing to go off the grid. Especially because most people using XMR are miners and hodlers, they don't have a problem with having them on the exchange. But start noticing that most of your customers are using mixers/Tor and a little alarm triggers.

Just my opinion though. I never thought Monero would be a big success specifically due to its privacy-focused nature..
2622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can POLIS surpass DASH and become nr. 1 in the payment industry? on: April 13, 2020, 05:02:52 PM
Earlier crypto adopters know that literally anything can be possible to happen when it comes to cryptocurrencies. If Polis gets to have a working product with nice specs, you can expect it to rise to the top 100-200 cryptos. Maybe it gets an even closer-to-the-throne rank, who knows?

Early sub-$0.5 DASH inverstors probably never expected the project to go that well. I imagine how amazing it was for them to witess the rise to +$1.6k. It all goes down to the way a project looks after years of its launch and development. Lots of factors, obviously, but the free hard work of the devs gets paid one day very well if it's a proven success.
2623  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New Hardware Wallet on: April 13, 2020, 04:50:09 PM
How is your hardware wallet even new? I'm more than sure I've seen it at least one year ago. Clickbaiting at it's best Grin

You don't even know how to do business or marketing and your product looks straight like a personalized USB drive.. IIRC I spent $70 on my Ledger Nano S and oh man, I have to say I absolutely love it! The product presentation is flawless too and after a quick web search to read others' opinions, I was convinced to go for it.

If I pop up the YouTube search, I can't even find a review/unboxing of your product other than videos from your own company and channel. Besides this, why do we have wallets for Windows but not for Linux and Mac? I think crypto means open-source, transparency etc.. and as far as I know, Windows is the least privacy-focused OS and the one most prone to malware, spyware and whatever else you want.

You advertise a WALAHALA Exchange I've never seen/heard of, do we have any specs about it? Is it centralized? Decentralized? Do we even have volume on there or it's a ghost city?

Quote
Walahala Exchange uses multiple verification system that's why it is more secure

Multiple verification means KYC? If so, then I consider it the least secure out there because I know what KYC is and how easy one company can abuse it. Smiley

Moreover, there are numerous Reddit posts (links below) you've posted to advertise your wallet and then removed, and those you haven't removed are filled up with hate.. can't find a single trace of someone leaving a positive post or commentary somewhere about you & your products! And you've cross-posted on as many subs as possible, basically spamming Reddit..

2624  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is not in healthy state yet on: April 13, 2020, 02:49:47 PM
This is the advantage in crypto or blockchain technology. Conferences is just a bonus to disseminate the information/knowledge about crypto. We can always do it online or search online what it is all about. This technology is not dependent on conferences. They are only holding these events to connect potential investors, customers or stakeholders. So I am not worried also with the halt of conferences.
In terms of mining equipment, the OP has no source where he got the notion that China totally stopped the production. Now, that Wuhan is open. I don't think manufacturing companies are still shutdown. They are slowly going back to normal life.
Mining farms may need employees to solve technical problems of the mining rigs or to mount new ones, but they probably aren't needed very often or even if they would be needed on a daily basis, the mining farms won't ever be overcrowded. In fact, supermarkets are more likely to be overcrowded during a lockdown than a mining farm. But we're talking about the Chinese authorities, so expect anything.. Smiley

Conferences will be held again after the lockdown gets lifted (hopefully). If they wanted to hold a conference, even if they wanted to do it by live-streaming it without any spectators physically being there, they still should've gathered crypto personalities from all around the world. They'd probably all travel by air, and so on. Risks increase, obviously. So cutting off the conferences for now isn't a big deal imo.
2625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is why bitcoin is unique. on: April 13, 2020, 01:07:08 PM
I'm more wondering which bank allows you to transfer such amounts without asking you what you're moving them for. And I'm sure none does Smiley But I think billionaires negotiate with banks. Otherwise, the commissions would be insane when moving billions of dollars - 0.01% commission is $100k for every billion moved, now imagine if billionaires had our fees..

But even if the bank negotiated fees to 0.0001%, the fees would STILL be high as hell ($1k)!

If anyone is interested: the fees that were paid for moving $1.08B represent 0.00000007% of the sum. Smiley

I hope that the individual(or company),sent the bitcoins to the right receiving address. Grin
~
I don't want anyone to suffer from a loss of billions but I wouldn't mind having a more scarcer BTC by +150k coins lost in the void!

~
I also hope that this isn't some crypto whale billionaire, who is currently selling all his bitcoins for fiat.
~
That comes with a big opportunity for some to buy. If years ago I was afraid someone would massively sell, today I see it as a massive opportunity for buyers & investors.
2626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is not in healthy state yet on: April 12, 2020, 06:16:22 PM
We'll likely move on and things will slowly get back to the previous state crypto-wise.

There are way more important things we should take care of at the moment imo. We should be worried about the way life will look post-lockdown, now whether the cancellation/postponing of conferences is good or not for cryptocurrencies.

Because everything is now postponed, why does it make a difference that conferences aren't held anymore either? On the other hand though.. they could've held them online. I have never followed a crypto one, are they really that important for the future of cryptocurrencies? We have roadmaps, blog posts published by devs etc.. we can see the history of a coin's development if we're willing to. The existence of a coin doesn't depend on conferences so I'm not worried about them at all..
2627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What's up with btc. on: April 12, 2020, 04:04:54 PM
IIRC, Bitcoin had a network congestion back in 2018. If not, it was 2017. Anyways, I had to move very large amounts back then and it was a pain in the ass. Had to pay more than $15 in fees for a transaction to get confirmed in a few hours.

I can only hope there'll be an update sooner or later that will lower down the fees as much as possible. Otherwise, it could be bad even for larger players and companies if and when the network gets congested again. The number of companies and people using BTC will most likely only grow, so the probability of a network congestion increases at the same time.

Otherwise, the larger the players in the network gets, the more often txs will be added to the network and therefore it'll get much easier to congest it. If so, I agree with you: people will have to move to alts. It's so cool when I can send an alt for fees under $0.001 and then I get to move BTC where I usually have fees sitting at ~$0.1-0.5. Annoying Embarrassed
2628  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Monero get delisted, again on: April 12, 2020, 03:22:27 PM
Soon enough, Monero users will be considered "rebels" for chasing privacy. I'm wondering how Monero still lasts on many big exchanges - probably most of its users do not use it the right way.

I'm so tired of this "it's used by criminals" excuse to take it off a service or website. Let's be serious, everything that has value and/or is used as a currency is used in illegal activities. Take any very popular criminal activity that has been investigated in the past 20 years and you'll see that almost all of them have used gold or USD. How are they still not banned yet? Oh, wait... Gold is manipulated by the top-tier traders and USD has a printing machine. Smiley
2629  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUB] The SpamBusters! Busting rule-breakers constantly. on: April 12, 2020, 02:26:01 PM
Never seen this issue popping up before, so I'm going to raise it here: members who constantly simply repeat other users' opinions and reply to fulfill their sig campaign minimum post requirement or to boost their account post count & activity.

It's pretty obvious and happens a ton of time especially in megathreads. Only today I've replied to two new threads and have seen at least two members doing it already:

It's more than just one factor that led to the disappointment and .. let's call it the "fall" of altcoins.

First, we have scams. New people get in the cryptocurrency sphere as (...)

And so on.. we have lots of reasons alts have failed. At least most of them. Most people prefer Bitcoin or the top few cryptocurrencies because they're popular and people work hard on (...)

There are only a few still being properly managed & developed and only few will make it through this decade imo. Those who deliver what they promised and who prove to be safe and properly secured & developed will thrive. The rest will go straight to the trashcan. So that's the only right thing you can do: deliver your promises and make your coin be what it was supposed to become when it was born. Otherwise, it'll be placed among the thousands of shitcoins that will most likely never be revived again.

I think the real reasons behind terrible altcoin market are:
Dozens of scams, inactive or abandoned projects in last couple of years which has taken the trust and interest of investors away from altcoin market.
Some projects that are alive and active but are unable to come up with quality finished product even after 2-3 years of time and with many fake promises, such projects have also damaged the altcoin reputation badly.
So at the moment people are looking for only top coins to invest or trade which is hurting altcoin market as well.

* These users have been the first two to reply to the thread I'm quoting and the second quote is off topic. The thread was about using Blockchain to create digital IDs and manage the virus spread. No mention or link to any food or food chain so the shitposting is obvious..

That's interesting food for thought but I doubt such a product could be developed fast enough to be useful for the current coronavirus epidemic. Maybe it could be ready for the next epidemic though.

Sorry, but we've seen a lot of blockchain projects trying to be developed about food chains. But even in a normal period, we saw that they were not successful and could not progress.

In fact, it's not just about food chains. Blockchain is a great technological development, everyone agrees. But I am not sure how accurate it is to apply to Blockchain to solve all the problems in the world. In other words, Blockchain can not cure all of our problems. Instead, it may be time to use blockchain in the right place and look for more rational solutions in other areas.

The first two quotes I put in this thread are everywhere on the forum and I have had enough of these kind of members.. I don't know if it can be called "plagiarizing" but it's something very similar to it anyways.

The last pair of quotes show how bad shitposting is.. New thread, only one reply to it - the user (Nadziratel) prefers to read only lucasholder's reply and give an answer purely based on his reply so Nadziratel goes completely off topic..

I wanted to raise this question many, many times but avoided to.. so I'll do it now: is there anything we can do about these kind of members?

2630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We failed altcoin!! Altcoin then did the same on: April 12, 2020, 01:42:52 PM
It's more than just one factor that led to the disappointment and .. let's call it the "fall" of altcoins.

First, we have scams. New people get in the cryptocurrency sphere as they're attracted by new altcoin projects. They put their money in these ICOs and many of them are unfortunately scams. As a result, most newbies falling for these scams are going to first aggressively attack cryptocurrencies by bad-mouthing them and then they'll just leave and never come back again. First impression matters, and scams could lead to disastrous results for a first-timer.

Second of all, let's not forget about the ease of use of cryptocurrencies! They're not only hard to understand but also pretty hard to use. Some altcoins don't even have proper apps for mobile & desktop, so let's not even mention that some people begin by purchasing hardware wallets, buying some coins that are not supported by these hardware wallets and storing them the wrong way.. which could lead to the loss of funds. Overall, Bitcoin is and will probably always be the best when it comes to understanding the way it functions and so on because it's the most used one.

Then we have the insane number of alts out there. Like come on, it gets to a point where you just lose track of them. I have some alts I held for +5 years without ever hearing about them or touching them to find out last year that they've forked and I missed the event... therefore, my coins are now worthless. There are so many shitcoins, so many scams and fairy tales of how a coin "could become the next Bitcoin" blah blah.

And then... 51% attacks! A considerable number of coins have been left in the dust and subject to 51% attacks. Someone who owns these coins will instantly lose trust in them without a doubt.

And so on.. we have lots of reasons alts have failed. At least most of them. Most people prefer Bitcoin or the top few cryptocurrencies because they're popular and people work hard on bringing the best features and updates to them. Every exchange also has BTC and so on - it's a big circuit that leads to the final conclusion that nothing really beats BTC, be it the fastest cryptocurrency in existence. If the history told us that "all paths lead to Rome", here in the crypto world we can reconstruct the saying this way: All paths lead to Bitcoin.

2631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain can help fighting corona on: April 12, 2020, 01:27:12 PM
Probably not but most likely you will not be allowed to fly internationally wihout some proof of immunity.

As soon as I have rights, let this be the only issue I'd encounter.

But your idea leads to more than just that. It implies the removal of many rights and sounds very similar to what China has started doing (Archived).

This, together with the fact that China has been chosen to serve UN's Human Rights Council (Archived) and your ideas added right next to these two make it look exactly like we're starting to move towards a China-like regime. Do we really fucking want that? Do we really want the world to go into a CCP-like leadership? If everyone does and I'm among the few who don't, then maybe it's just me going insane...  Roll Eyes

I'll repeat myself: let's use Blockchain for the sake of our humanity. Let's not destroy ourselves and our own rights with it. Be it even the storage of all personal info on BTC's blockchain, I still would not agree with it because I know there's some shady stuff behind-the-scenes.
2632  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 5G Has Dual Use As A Weapons System on: April 12, 2020, 12:30:55 PM
Oh man, this is a damn old topic I have unfortunately missed. Will take my time to read through all pages though because it's in my interest. Waking up to this pandemic and looking back at your post about 5G from one year ago is alarming. Gave you half of my remaining merits because this is a topic that should've been publicly discussed worldwide and I'm happy to know there is a community out here, still uncensored, that is doing it. The way they're now moving around the world and installing everywhere they can 5G antennas is scary AF.

What about Elon Musk's Starlink he's going to wrap around the entire planet with? AFAIK, it is not 5G tech; but considering he's going to literally cover the entire planet with his Starlink web sitting in the sky and make it capable to reach any area, doesn't that make it even worse than 5G?

Besides this, do we have a way to actually protect ourselves from the incoming 5G radiation (I mean it's already there, but I think I am safe for now) other than having to go through some Edward Snowden or Watch Dogs kind of shit?

I don't know why I have a feeling they're going to make anti-5G stuff illegal and punishable by law if smeone owns anything that blocks it. They already know some of us are going to try getting rid of it and that's not what they want, is it? Smiley
2633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain can help fighting corona on: April 12, 2020, 12:06:48 PM
Not trying to be "that guy", but I just don't see any reason we'd have to set all of this up, even on Blockchain, just because a pandemic has been out there. Are we trying to return to normal or do we want to split the society into two: the infected ones and the non-infected ones? Because to me it doesn't sound like a "return to normality" at all.

Your idea sounds actually worse than communism. Are we really willing to go that way?

I've been in self quarantine for MONTHS already and I started weeks before my country even had a first case. Why do I have to be forced to do tests, vaccines etc if I have literally respected every single rule and have not been exposed to the virus? Why should my rights be taken away (I mean they already are, but...) because I just do not want to take the test or the vaccine?

Look, here's one thing.
 - I started the self-quarantine by wondering whether a corporation will again be the one to create the vaccine and give it to us. Obviously, not for free. Have you seen the official vaccine candidates? Since when does Bill Gates dictate my life and control my rights? How can I trust a vaccine from someone who said numerous times on TV that we need to reduce population growth?
 - When I heard the WHO say "Test, test, test!" a red alarm sounded off in my brain. I always like to think the opposite of what authorities and high-level organizations tell us. When I heard they said that, I thought "okay, something should be wrong with the tests!" and guess what - weeks later, tests are found to be contamined with the virus.

So right now I'm in this exact situation:
 1. I don't trust the tests;
 2. I don't want someone who's been in thousands of other houses to enter MINE, which was isolated from any risk of the virus infection;
 3. I don't want to take Gates'/J&J's/Moderna's vaccine;
 4. I am not going to install any app or device that permanently tracks me and/or alerts me of nearby infected. Is this a zombie apocalypse and I didn't know?

Are they going to forcefully inject me and take my test? If so and everyone agrees with that, then the future looks terrible and we have all contributed to it by letting each and every right of ours be taken away and literally ask them ourselves to do all the things they're wrongfully doing right now.

So no, using Blockchain doesn't help. It's like putting milk & honey over moulding cereals. Let's use the Blockchain to develop something good for humanity and not something worse-than-communism because I'm very sure that a lot of members out here agree with at least 2 points from the 4 above.

Sorry, but we've seen a lot of blockchain projects trying to be developed about food chains. But even in a normal period, we saw that they were not successful and could not progress.

In fact, it's not just about food chains. Blockchain is a great technological development, everyone agrees. Instead, it may be time to use blockchain in the right place and look for more rational solutions in other areas.

You're the perfect example of someone who doesn't even read the OP and replies based on what the last replies say. Sad.
2634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why reward halving instead of doubling? on: April 11, 2020, 10:59:43 PM
I'd have to guess that Satoshi wanted to put all the best features of what we have today in precious metals, fiat and digital into one piece of genius work called "cryptocurrency". One of its best features imo is scarcity, because we want to be the few ones to own it and we want our asset to become rarer, not more usual.

BTC's price moves against the supply and together with its demand. When the block reward gets cut in half, a miner who mines approximately as much as they consume in resources (electricity etc) will either have to somehow sell their mined BTC at a minimum 100.01% higher-than-the-total-value price to have at least that minimum and unconsiderable profit of 0.01% or it would literally make no sense to continue mining it.

Imagine earning a silver coin per month as your salary and every 4 years your monthly piece of silver gets cut in half. You'd be in huge disadvantage, right? Well, if everyone was to receive exactly the same piece of silver a month and theirs had to get cut every 4 years in half too, we all would have to rise the value of the piece of metal by at least 100% or we'd all starve..

Not sure if the example above is great but I gave it a try and hopefully it's easy to understand. Scarcity, my friend! Scarcity is here to save us all Smiley
2635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time Will tell on: April 10, 2020, 12:32:50 PM
I'm afraid it's quite the opposite: we shouldn't underestimate the power of a government. They let us be for the moment but I'm really wondering if they will do the same in the following years. If India was able to ban Bitcoin along with other countries and there was no civil unrest, I am honestly afraid a Bitcoin ban would only be followed by very small and non-significant protests that would result in.. nothing!

The only thing we can do is try to keep following the path we've started (mine is to keep believing in and supporting BTC) and hope a ban or harsher regulations aren't coming.
2636  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hacking Bisq on: April 10, 2020, 10:37:06 AM
This is the total opposite, simply because when you remove a middleman you also remove all the security risks that come with. In a centralized exchange, the transactions are off-chain, and it uses centralized hot wallets, if we take a DEX like Bisq for example, you also remove the risks server-side, reverse engineering and so many other points.

The security is the first and worse problem for centralized exchanges and I can tell you a lot of them have flaws, hence why we see news every trimester to announce abcd website has been hacked

Well, I did not imply the fact that a centralized exchange is better! I haven't used one in so long.. I meant that decentralized ones are better targets because if you get to exploit one, there are smaller chances the hacker/exploiter would get caught especially because there is no middleman anymore and no central server. Besides this, I'm all in for DEXs obviously.
2637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IS WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION LEVERAGING ON BLOCKCHAIN FOR COVID 19? on: April 10, 2020, 08:11:11 AM
I'm not in love with altcoins and I know even projects like Gridcoin and Foldingcoin which have been giving a lot to charity didn't do well even with all the uptake, but why would you not be cheering if someone uses blockchain tech for a good cause?

Them wanting to collect data from all of us has nothing to do with blockchain, they will do it with or without.

Because if you use blockchain to collect data from me, then that's not good news. If they'll do it with or without blockchain, that means I was right when I said this is the scary path we're apparently taking.

I wish more people cared about their privacy and personal information. Everyone is giving it up so easily as if it's some worthless grain of sand instead of taking care of it and asking for the stoppage of data collection. They've added the Cookies message now to every single website and it takes minutes to get rid of it if you don't want to accept them.. because we've all been educated to be so comfortable you can't even waste a few seconds off your time to protect your personal data.

I know whether personal data privacy or privacy is an important issue but in the current epidemic, I think everyone's life is more important.

What does our life have to do with the pandemic? Do you feel like they're saving us by collecting our personal data?

I think this is a definitely wrong mindset. Just because we're in the middle of a pandemic does not mean they have the rights to collect data on us! Just because people die it doesn't mean they're allowed to localize you and take away that many rights from you! Now that months pass and we get used to the life we are living right now, it's gonna be quite probable to get used to having no rights and this "I know it's bad that they're collecting data about us but... but they're saving us!" mindset.

I don't know, I feel like we, the "peasants", are going absolutely nowhere while corporations are still taking control. We're still dying, everything is still going on while the big ones are becoming even more massive than they were before. We're still going to take Gates' vaccine like it was supposed to happen from before the beginning of COVID-19, we're still going to be forced to stay home without rights if you don't want to take their vaccine/test or we are going to be forced to take it and so on. Life's going on - we're submitting, they're growing up. And everyone says "it's fine! Life is way more important" - well, it won't be much of a life anymore if it ends with force and no rights for all of us.

Great experience in Bitcoin and Bitcointalk. I hope you will be a great Campaign manager in near future because you are an experienced person. Have a nice day.
Good luck for your new Jounery. I specially like the this point because most of the hunters disappoints about the payments. If you do the escrow system , then it will be very helpful for both projects and hunters. Best of luck and looking forward to work with you.  Grin

2640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IS WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION LEVERAGING ON BLOCKCHAIN FOR COVID 19? on: April 08, 2020, 09:14:04 PM
Definitely not cheering news for me! Do you think the WHO has the same goals we have as cryptocurrency enthusiasts? Certainly not.. They're looking to gather as much data as possible from each and every one of us.. By "decentralizing the health system" you should understand they mean actually the opposite: centralizing & taking control over the entire world's health system..

~
MiPasa emphasized that its data analysis and privacy tools will not collect any personal information of any users, just to remind users if someone around them is infected with the new crown.
~
Read that one more time.
Still don't get it?
Read it once again, loud and clear!

They're not collecting any personal information but they will localize you and every infected person to let each other know you must keep distance? Are we heading towards a period of time where if you are infected and I am not, I have to reject you from the society? Where if you're infected but I am not, you will not be able to sit next to me, to talk with me, to exit your home or to buy food at the places I buy mine from? Because that's how it sounds like..

It looks like they're starting to use the words "blockchain" and "cryptocurrency" to bait us in their game. Consider me paranoid, conspiracist or whatever you wish - the path we're slowly taking looks scary AF.

Don't tell me about "decentralizing" something when behind this "decentralization" stands a centralized power.. I guess this is the half-step towards merging all countries' health system databases in one. Bookmark this reply and PM me in max. 6 months - see if I was right.
