2641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what your opinion of rising etherum prices ? on: January 14, 2018, 12:37:18 PM
I was quite surprised by how fast Ethereum value has grown. I hope it isn't another pump and dump. Ethereum deserves to be one of the most used and valuable cryptocurrencies. What a pity that I have sold my Ethereum when BTC/ETH was somewhere around 0.06. Ethereum network is constantly growing. Unfortunately, it looks like it can't handle all the load during ICOs. Cryptokittens are also a good example, I had to wait a few minutes before my transaction was included in a block.
2642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Too late to invest in cryptos if you're old? on: January 13, 2018, 11:19:33 PM
In my opinion, I think that age doesn't matter at all. It may be only difficult for people who are not familiar with using computers or aren't English native speakers which will make finding information more difficult. I try to encourage every member of my family to invest in cryptocurrencies. It is not too late to join the "cryptocurrency hype train". Elderly people usually have more money but they are distrustful and not easily persuadable. Fortunately, I will be the one to see the collapse of fiat.
2643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MAD WITH MY PARENTS !!! on: January 13, 2018, 07:21:39 PM
Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to convince elderly people that Bitcoin isn't a financial pyramid. Most of them, don't want to listen how Bitcoin works. I had to try many times before I managed to convince my parent that Bitcoin is a good investment. They have heard in TV that Bitcoin is dangerous and you can easily lose money by investing in it. Don't listen to them, more and more people are becoming interested in Bitcoin which will eventually lead to its price increase.
2644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to secure bitcoin wallet?? on: January 13, 2018, 12:12:19 PM
Change your password weekly that's the basic step, then make sure you don't save a text document with some obvious name like BTC address or bitcoin.txt. also, don't save your password in a soft copy form, invest in a hardware wallet.

Changing your password frequently won't change anything if you have a keylogger installed. The cheapest way is to use air-gapped old laptop which will be encrypted and used only for signing transactions. Still, I don't find this method secure so that's why I always recommend hardware wallets. For example, Trezor is open-source so you can check if there aren't any backdoors or bugs. You don't have to worry about exposure of your private keys.
2645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Getting porn sites to accept bitcoin on: January 12, 2018, 08:38:20 PM
I think that Bitcoin is the right choice for porn industry. Introducing cryptocurrencies as a form of payment is a great idea but let's be honest. Bitcoin isn't anonymous at all. I would like to see Monero than Bitcoin because its transactions are untraceable. Right now, banks know who is using porn services, it is something that needs to be changed. It will take some time before Bitcoin will be fully anonymous (assuming that it will be someday).
2646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Can We Make Sure Bitcoin Never Ends? on: January 12, 2018, 06:52:21 PM
We can't be one hundred percent sure that Bitcoin will survive the next few years. I think that cryptocurrencies will be with us forever but I'm afraid that some centralised cryptocurrencies for example Ripple may take over the first place due to the pump from banks. If we don't want to see the end of Bitcoin then we have to focus on making Bitcoin faster and cheaper. What a pity that these change also lead to split in the community. Everyone has the right to have their own opinion.
2647  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What are the best bitcoin wallets? on: January 12, 2018, 06:39:11 PM
Well, i dont know which one is the best because i dont have many experience in many wallet.
I always use blockchain.info from starting till now and i dont face any problem so you might try that.

Good for you that you didn't have any problems yet. Blockchain.info is a web wallet which means you don't control your private keys. Controlling your private keys is very important because without them you won't be able to spend your bitcoins. That's why web wallet is not secure, if the service goes down, you won't be able to move your bitcoins somewhere else. Electrum is the best choice right now, it is very important to use the latest version because there was a critical bug discovered.
2648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KFC to accept Bitcoin! on: January 12, 2018, 06:21:41 PM
It's quite interesting to see that more and more companies are willing to accept Bitcoin? Is it because of huge potential profit? Many people around the world use Bitcoin. I wouldn't be surprised if some people started to use it after we introduce Lightning Network which will make transactions faster and cheaper. I have also heard that McDonald's is also thinking of accepting Bitcoin. I can't wait to see which company will be faster in implementing it in every country. It may be difficult due to legal issues.
2649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin "Mainstream" yet? The poll. on: January 12, 2018, 04:18:01 PM
I agree that Bitcoin became wide-known but it is still not enough to say that it is mainstream. The only thing that many people know about Bitcoin is that its value has vastly increased in the past year. Unfortunately, many people here are only after money. People want to earn money easily without doing much. I don't understand why people invest in something they don't understand. My relatives bought Bitcoin but they don't believe that cryptocurrencies will replace fiat.
2650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is the currency of the future? hahaha on: January 12, 2018, 04:03:59 PM
Bitcoin transaction fees are indeed high and that's the biggest problem right now. It should be solved by introducing Lightning Network which is really close and has already made it to the mainnet. It's available on few services such as Yalls and TorGuard. I have to agree that Bitcoin lacks anonymity but it won't be easy to fix this issue. Right now, Monero is the best choice for anonymous transaction. Bitcoin has a lot of users, imagine what would happen if community was halved or a major bug in code occurred.
2651  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How about community takeover? on: January 11, 2018, 10:50:36 PM
Why won't you start learning programming and then create your own fork of Bitcoin? We do you follow Bitcoin Core developers' vision of Bitcoin? Bitcoin Gold, Bcash are your altenatives. You don't like their devs? Make a hardfork of Bitcoin hardfork! You don't have to follow Bitcoin, there are hundreds of altcoins available on the market which are faster and cheaper than Bitcoin.
2652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are The Banks Scared of Bitcoin? on: January 11, 2018, 08:52:10 PM
I'm not surprised at all that banks are afraid of Bitcoin. If I run a bank, I would be also scared but instead of saying that cryptocurrencies are a fraud, I would invest in Bitcoin deposits. This could increase the popularity of my bank. Thanks to cryptocurrencies we don't have to trust a third party anymore. Unfortunately, many people are still not into tech so they will probably use web wallet which is as "secure" as banks these days. It would be great to see the fall of the banks.
2653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft Removes Bitcoin on: January 11, 2018, 07:21:04 PM
The transaction cost for BTC is becoming too high as compared to other traditional means of fund movement. That not so promising

Bitcoin transactions are more expensive than other ways of sending money due to high load. Developers are working on this issue. Some people decided to hardfork Bitcoin and increase the blocksize in order to process more transactions per second. Lightning Network is slowly being pushed to the mainnet. We will have to wait for wallet developers to implement it in their software. It will take some time but it is definitely worth it.
2654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is the best time to invest in BTC? on: January 11, 2018, 08:43:37 AM
I would say that the perfect time to invest in Bitcoin was a few years go. Bitcoin popularity is constantly growing so you can still earn quite a lot. Don't treat Bitcoin only as an investment, Bitcoin is an interesting piece of technology which has potential to become used in our daily life. If you only want to become a millionaire then try look for promising altcoins which are still under $5. Zclassic was barely $3 last month and now it costs around $200.
2655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not a currency? on: January 11, 2018, 08:18:54 AM
Right now, Bitcoin is experiencing a huge load on its network. The transactions aren't as cheap as they used to be but it is also due to massive increase in Bitcoin price. Some people treat Bitcoin like a non-physical gold which will replace the real one. Fortunately, it might change after introducing the Lightning Network which will definitely lower the transaction fees and make Bitcoin widely accepted. Bitcoin is a currency.
2656  Other / Off-topic / Re: Everybody is joining.. on: January 10, 2018, 08:52:30 PM
There are a few reasons why the price of new altcoins is rising. A lot of people want to earn a lot of money in a short period of time. That's the main purpose of pump groups. I don't neglect that cryptocurrencies have become popular but I doubt that newbies focus on buying some uncommon altcoins rather than Bitcoin which was the first cryptocurrency for most people.
2657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ethereum be beat Bitcoin on: January 10, 2018, 01:02:13 PM
I think that Ethereum won't surpass Bitcoin. Why? Well, Ethereum is mostly used because of its smart-contracts. Every day, new tokens are being created on the Ethereum platform. Some people say that Ethereum is way faster than Bitcoin. While it is true, try to recall what happened after the surge of Cryptokitties popularity. Ethereum has slow down since there. Transactions used to get into a block after a few seconds. Last time, I tried to send Ethereum transaction I had to wait a few minutes. Bitcoin will soon solve that issue by introducing Lightning Network to the mainnet.
2658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in Bitcoin? on: January 10, 2018, 12:40:14 PM
We can't tell you whether or not you should invest in Bitcoin. It should be your own decision because it is very risky. Every kind of investment is risky, even Bitcoin. If I were you, I would start with learning how Bitcoin works and how to make sure that your money is safe. Many newbies invest in Bitcoin without making any research which later leads to theft of their holding or high fees because of the wallet. You can find a lot of information on Bitcointalk and Bitcoin Wiki.
2659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: RIP ripple Ethereum is Taking back to moon on: January 08, 2018, 08:59:55 PM
Good to see that people aren't as greed as I previously thought. Fortunately, XRP price started to decline. We can't let it overtake Bitcoin. I'm quite surprised that Ethereum started to increase rapidly in the last days. What a shame I have sold my GPUs dedicated to mining and Ethereum when it reached 0.05 BTC exchange rate. This situation is quite similar to the Bitcoin Cash huge pump which happened twice. I guess that banks won't let us forget about XRP.
2660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Authorship - ATS Tokens on: January 08, 2018, 08:53:57 PM
Has anyone here tried to test out the beta version of Authorship service? There are not many books available there but according to their Facebook, they will be adding more in the next few days. I'm quite interested if paying with their tokens works without any problems. It looks like the price of ATS tokens went a little bit down but maybe it's due to panic after removal of Korean exchanges from the Coinmarketcap.
