2641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lesson plans about Bitcoin achieved on: July 01, 2020, 10:34:53 AM
General introduction, history and who made it.

What it is used for, used as payment for various services.
If you're still stuck, I can still provide more answers.

Can you expound more on the "payment for various services" part? Because I could guarantee that people would ask you "why do we need to use bitcoin? Why not just use USD/GDP/etc? and bitcoin is volatile etc etc".

Sure, they will definitely ask. I can actually tell them a lot. I'm still gathering more information. If this question was thrown at you as a teacher how would you answer it?
2642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lesson plans about Bitcoin achieved on: July 01, 2020, 10:31:07 AM
You must explain how the fee work too. Also, explaining what is "scam" such as ponzi, mlm, hyip, etc and how to avoid them. Most newcomer think that they are legit, especially with 'fake' cloud mining (i don't recommend the real one tho).

If some of your student interested, don't forget to tell them to backup their seeds or private key.

I will practically do that in front of everyone of them. And tell them not to make use of the wallets opened for practical purposes as one or two of them could hack into their wallets.
2643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lesson plans about Bitcoin achieved on: July 01, 2020, 10:29:35 AM
1. General introduction to Bitcoin
2. What it is used for

I'm honestly more curious about how you're going to explain things rather than your "lesson plan", as this part is quite critical. Can you give us a quick explanation on parts 1 and 2 here? How are you going to describe Bitcoin, and what is Bitcoin for according to you?

General introduction, history and who made it.

What it is used for, used as payment for various services.
If you're still stuck, I can still provide more answers.
2644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Lesson plans about Bitcoin achieved on: July 01, 2020, 10:15:32 AM
So, I made a post about me teaching college students about Bitcoin and it's usage. I asked for  few things that would make up my lesson plans here.https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5259038.msg54708539#msg54708539 The positive replies I got was enough for me. So, I came up with these;

1. General introduction to Bitcoin
2. What it is used for
3. Introduction to a forum dedicated for discussion of Bitcoins named Bitcointalk Forum
4. Mining
5. Digital skills
6. Last week would be used for quizzes and setting up Bitcoin accounts and prizes would be won for serious students among them.

Your criticism is a welcome one too. Embarrassed

I think stellar XLM is my favourite altcoin of all time. Reason it because of its great stability. It doesn't fall below 20% in a whole week chart.  Kiss
2646  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the US economy suddenly recovering? on: July 01, 2020, 06:42:49 AM
In my country, after the government eased the lockdown to an extent where people could go out, markets and businesses could open and some other sectors, it passed a wrong message to our citizens that things are totally back to normal and the economy recovering, but after some weeks now, positive cases of Covid-19 increased and the government are forced again to shut down the states that are affected the most.

Imo it'll be like this for some time, there is prolly no economic recovery in sight at the moment, even in the US. In the long run some countries will recover faster than others, as they have always had a better economy and America is one of those countries, but for now with all the the talk of rising unemployment and recession, they still have a long way to go.

The government has not been coherent with situations surrounding the invisible enemy in the person of Covid-19. Easing the lockdown isn't the solution to the problem entirely. Are there measures put in places by the people and the government to ensure social distancing is maintained to a certain stage? I know we still have a long battle with the Covid-19.

Some economies will recover faster than others it is simple ideology behind strategic planners in the economy sector of the fast rising economies.
2647  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin performance in first half of 2020 on: July 01, 2020, 06:28:26 AM
We cannot forget that the one that has had the highest performance in recent times is bitcoin:

Source: https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-price-stalls-below-92k-but-data-shows-investors-are-bullish

If we put to review since 2017 the Bitcoin whales increased significantly, and if by simple inspection we know that altcoins depend on Bitcoin directly, it is a consequence of the movement that Bitcoin makes.

The effect of Covid-19 if the market was affected, due to the fact of causing panic, and it is obvious that the price has panicked, but the price has been recovering and will continue to do so.

The pandemic affected every asset price but food and other needed equipments  for survival. The halving was a success to me, the hype around it was much maybe I didn't have the whole picture of what  The halving would look like even the oil market was affected.
2648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have a plan of teaching college students in my neighborhood Bitcoin on: July 01, 2020, 06:22:35 AM
Age range from 14-23.
Financial ability I can't vouch for each of them but I think 4/10 of them can afford a smartphone and would be able to access the internet.
As I see it, the age range has the capacity to understand at least the basic topic mentioned by other community members here. Maybe it would be better to share your lesson plan here in the community in order for other members to examine and suggest a good chronological order of bitcoin related topics that you can teach.

Just to give you glimpse of topics that you can easily teach: https://www.lopp.net/bitcoin-information.html#

I've bookmarked the page. I will go through this till the lockdown is lifted and life returns to normalcy. I will try my very best to inculcate deep knowledge and relative understanding in them.

I made a lesson plan yesterday and I would be teaching final year students approaching graduation in my neighborhood
Final year students at what level of education, university/college or high school final year students, that's important in deciding the direction your tutoring will take, as well as the age of the students, their understanding capacity and financial strength, as far as investments is concerned.

I'll take universitity students for example, from my experience of those who have approached me, they are more concerned about 'how to invest in bitcoin' and already have, maybe not a firm, but at least a grip of the basics. If you are going to be teaching younger students, investment which involves capital may not be paramount, their curiosity will be more of "what is bitcoin".

Age range from 14-23.
Financial ability I can't vouch for each of them but I think 4/10 of them can afford a smartphone and would be able to access the internet.

I made a lesson plan yesterday and I would be teaching final year students approaching graduation in my neighborhood about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general and career opportunities involved in the discussion as soon as the lockdown is lifted.

You can as well suggest topics I can cover time to time. I will be dedicating 3 weeks for the campaign. I hope to update the forum about the development too.

2653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: June 29, 2020, 08:52:53 AM

Usually, Barcelona tends to win the difficult matches and lose points on the easier ones.
I think that it would be a face to face battle for the title till the end of the season and maybe Real Madrid is going to win the league with just one point difference.
We just have to wait for the ATM - FCB match to be completed in order to see what is going on.

It is very possible for Barcelona to win ATM as it been played at Camp Nou. Barcelona has not lost a single match there for very long time.

The main match that would be terrific for Barcelona is Vs Alaves and Villarreal.
2654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: June 29, 2020, 08:42:49 AM

Still haven't seen his impact on the Real Madrid squard though and it's becoming worrisome. The Eden that usually complete 7/8 dribble per game hardly complete 2 which begin to question his ability to handle the no7 shirt left behind by Ronaldo and future in the real Madrid shirt.

The season has just been a disappointing one to watch him struggle every game and hope it ends soon so he can regroup and come deliver some hazardous performance as he's known for back in the premier league.

PS: if feels good seeing Real Madrid topping the table, hope it ends this way.

I'm beginning to suspect there is a curse behind every No. 7 jersey worn by Ronaldo, every since he left Manchester United everyone who wore the jersey never thrived. Hazard in Chelsea was never this injury prone. It could be due to environmental factors and a lot of changes underlying with the new environment.

We just hope he recuperates to the Eden Hazard he has been since he came to limelight in 2012. He is energetic and he causes uproar with the ball anytime he clings it.

So, I'm rooting for Real Madrid to be champions once more.
2655  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: June 29, 2020, 08:36:24 AM
 Grin

Real Madrid might likely be champions considering how energetic the squads have been since the return of the League, FCB on the other hand has not been consistent. Real Madrid has few tough teams to meet for the remaining 6 fixtures.

FCB has ATM to battle it out with, Real might go top of the league with 4 points difference.

2657  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to easily buy and sell Bitcoin in Nigeria. on: June 28, 2020, 01:57:13 PM
Binance now have the fastest and cheapest transaction for Nigerians in my own opinion. The trade my not be direct like in the 2 listed exchanges but easy if you find time to visit binance and learn it, you prefer it. The transaction fee is cheaper than any other at 0.02%. Kudi exchange seem to offer additional services with the provision of debit card in affiliation with 2 banks within the country

I forgot to add Binance. I will edit and add Binance up.
2658  Other / Beginners & Help / How to easily buy and sell Bitcoin in Nigeria. on: June 28, 2020, 01:46:03 PM
I'm here to guide noobs in Nigeria on how to buy/sell Bitcoin or any other person interested in knowing how to exchange Bitcoin for fiat and vice versa in Nigeria.

We all know what Bitcoin is.

1. Nairaland Escrow Thread.

Nairaland is Africa's biggest online forum, here there are handful of individuals who trade and deal on almost all digital assets, you can easily market your coins and earn your fiat within the shortest period of time. You have to do your homework before you trade here because there are more scammers than genuine and honest buyers.

https://www.nairaland.com/5828664/currency-e-currency-market-deals-2020

2.Luno

Luno is the best and safest place to trade your coins.
The reason I listed Nairaland ahead of Luno is because; Luno has a limited number of cryptocurrencies you can trade easily.
In Luno you can't trade untill you;

•You verify your account with a valid means of identification
•Link your Bank Verification Number (BVN)
•Link your local bank account (Not necessary though but if you want fiat).

You can withdraw from Luno in any hour of the day though Luno usually starts working from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM ( I'm not very sure of this).
Luno charges N 150. For trading fee and N 200. For withdrawing directly to your bank account.

The highest amount to deposit in Luno is N200,000.

https://www.luno.com/en/

I will be updating the thread with more information as other Nigerians suggest more vital information relating to this.
I'm open for corrections.

2659  Economy / Economics / Re: Telegram to Return $1.2 Billion to Investors and Pay $18.5 Million Penalty to Se on: June 28, 2020, 10:38:30 AM
How do telegram generate its revenue?
The answer to this question will determine the fate of the application, so far they say that they depend on self-financing from Nikolai Durov[1] & Pavel Durov[2] and then they will rely on donations, but I do not think that donations[3] will allow them to provide the same services.
The report forces them to return the money, but I think they will think of some solutions and try to put that currency back. It may be offered for trading and selling.
The worst option is to sell ads, but it will be the end of this application. Let's see how Pavel Durov will solve the problem.

[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolai_Durov
[2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavel_Durov
[3] https://telegram.org/faq#q-how-are-you-going-to-make-money-out-of-this

If they are to sell ads as seen on other similar communities. That would be the end of telegram. Telegram is good as it is. I believe there are competitors looming behind for every possible way to eliminate Telegram from its dominance. I just hope this penalty doesn't affect their market and services.

Pulling out $1.2 billion out of their $3.8 billion net worth would affect them but they will definitely try and recuperate.
2660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A lot of Americans still don't know what Bitcoin is on: June 28, 2020, 10:30:26 AM
There is nothing to be surprised. Still there are a lot of people around the world even did not hear about Bitcoin and American people are no different of course. Even those who heard about bitcoin to them it's a scheme or something which will pop up soon.

We are sill in the early stage of bitcoins.

Up until now, people who are into crypto is a very small percentage among global population. So yes, it's not really surprising even if we are already in the digital age. Maybe a lot of them have heard bitcoin, but I don't think ethereum will be familiar to them. The thing is, even if they heard about bitcoin, they don't even know where to start, or how to deal with it. But if big companies will start to accept bitcoin and other alts as payment method, maybe it will start the adoption stage to the masses or regular online shoppers.

They night have heard about Bitcoin bit Ethereum isn't very likely and certain.

I read here: https://www.google.com/amp/s/paybis.com/blog/companies-that-accept-bitcoin/amp/ some companies are accepting Bitcoin as a tool of payment.
