CJB - My initials. =)

Traditionally, US coins (perhaps most world coins?) have the designer's / artist's initials somewhere on the coin. That's why we included it on the 2015 edition of our Bitcoin Penny. We like the penny theme, and it's the little details that make the difference. =)

On future editions, we may include the initials of someone else (as a contest grand prize).

Best Regards,
Christopher

Is each penny numbered?

Hi, BitCoinPokerBro. These coins are not individually numbered.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Christopher

No problem, could you give me the exact measurements of the coin? So I can find suitable ones?

Thanks

Absolutely! I'll cut-n-paste straight from our FAQ.

Quote
Bitcoin Penny™ commemorative coins are the size of the average American’s pocket change—a little smaller than the US quarter (.900") and about the same thickness as the US nickel (.077”")—making them the perfect size to carry around comfortably in your pocket all day long, showing them off to everyone you meet!

(Go ahead. Make your friends jealous. We give you permission. Besides, that Chris is a jerk, anyway.)

Let me know if you have anymore questions. I'm always happy to help.

Regards,
Christopher =)

Received my roll and couple singles yesterday! Great quality and packaging! Very nice product guys, thanks!

Thanks, FinitebyDesign! We appreciate the positive feedback. =)

Nice coins you got there! I might order some soon.

Do you happen to sell suitable Air-Tite capsules for them?

Thanks, cyclops! We look forward to landing a few on your doorstep.

At this time, we don't sell the capsules. While we certainly strive to mint a high quality commemorative coin, we also want this to be a fun, relatively inexpensive commemorative coin--something that you might wear in your penny loafers or carry around in your jeans pocket as a lucky coin. Something that you wouldn't mind if it gets banged around a little. (That's how lucky coins collect all that luck!)

On the other hand, perhaps we'll keep that in mind for our 2016 edition Bitcoin Penny.

Thanks again. =)

Regards,
Christopher

I would like to ask how much it would cost to ship to Alaska. I know it may be a bit more than sending to the other states.

Great question! On our website's FAQ page, I playfully apologize to Alaska & Hawaii for having to charge them international shipping rates. However, since I forgot to mention that exception in this thread, I'm happy to include Alaska & Hawaii for USA members. =)

Christopher

These are some really cool coins, I love how the rolls are branded, may pick some up soon.

Thanks, TheGr33k. We always loved that little touch too.

Nice coins shame they wouldn't be accepted in shops. Maybe would be good if shops accepted them and some sort of hologram on them that has the coin in them and also public private key accessible for them to use or transfer value from. Would be good for a coin storage too Smiley

Thank you for the ideas, crazyearner. We always appreciate when someone shares their "two cents." (Forgive me. Bad puns are my weakness.)   Grin

It definitely was, but I am truly interested in buying probably a roll. What's the price?

Just checking.  Wink The price for the roll (of 40 coins) is $99.99, and forum members who pay in bitcoin receive free US shipping or reduced international shipping. When you're ready, just shoot me a PM with the total order and shipping address (US or International), and I'll reply ASAP.

Best Regards,
Christopher

nice coin!
I'll certainly order some of them

Thanks, Lairew. I look forward to sending a few your way.

I'd probably buy a few just to hold and sell off on a later date when they're worth more : )

I'm sure that was a joke, but just in case... I doubt these will be worth more on a later date. =)

Thanks again, everyone.

Got my order in, looking forward to seeing the product! Has been a pleasure dealing with Christopher fwiw.

Question, I like that these are identified as 2015. I presume if things go well you will have 2016, etc? How many are planned for 2015? I think if there is a cap to the number, it will add to the collectible nature and help these to sell very well...

Thank you, Chris. It's been a pleasure from my end, too. =)

You're correct. We plan on issuing a slightly different version of the Bitcoin Penny commemorative coin each year. In fact, we've considered turning it into a contest with the winner's initials on that year's coin. Who knows? That's still in the "here's a cool idea..." phase.

And we're not limiting the production quantity for the 2-packs. I think you're right, limiting the production run might add to the collectible nature and help them sell very well, but we're really not trying to make a highly collectible coin. Rather, we want a fun, inexpensive novelty bitcoin that one wouldn't mind giving away to a stranger to help spread the news about bitcoin in general. (We usually carry an extra one in our pocket for this reason.) Our Bitcoin Penny has been called "cool bitcoin swag," and I think that's in line with our vision. Sure, it would definitely be nice to sell a few more and make a few more dollars, but at this point in time we're more interested in offering a fun, inexpensive novelty bitcoin that helps spark interest in the new bitcoin technology as a whole. (All while looking quite stylish if you like to rock penny loafers!) Or for a more concrete example: "Hey, are you wearing pennies in your penny loafers? Cool!" "Close. It's not a penny, though. It's a Bitcoin Penny. Here, I have an extra one." "Cool! Bitcoin, what's that?" "I'm glad you asked..." (That's generally how it goes down.)

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always happy to help.

Regards,
Christopher

They all look like Casascius...cool idea though.

Thank you, Possum. I'm guessing we were both inspired by US coins. We played on the penny theme for obvious reasons, with a little bit of quarter thrown in for good measure. =)

How much is the shipping to The Netherlands?

Shipping to the Netherlands would be only $1.99 USD via bitcoin sale (the discounted international shipping price for forum members) and only $5.99 USD through the website using PayPal (including Visa and MasterCard).

UPDATE: Our shipping policy has changed in order to offer all forum members 15% OFF the entire order.

Our shipping charge is now a flat fee of $1.99 in the Continental USA. (Sorry, Alaska and Hawaii.) And shipping to any other global destination is only $5.99!

Christopher

What are the coins made of?
Pictures look really nice!
I just checked their website and they seem to be copper coins.
I'll be ordering some of these. They look cool.

Thanks, everyone. Yes, they're copper. And we didn't mention it on the website, but each coin has an ultra-thin protective finish to slow the natural patina that develops on copper surfaces. (Everyone loves a shiny, new penny!) However, you can always remove the protective finish with a soft towel and a little Brasso, Maas, etc., if you want to speed up the patina process. I did that with my own lucky Bitcoin Penny, and it developed a GORGEOUS patina after a few weeks--chocolate with hints of olive. Absolutely beautiful! I'll try to snap a photo today or tomorrow.)

Quote
The pics look indeed nice, but 'In Code We Trust' and 'E-Currency Unum' are not my
favourite slogans to be honest.

Thank you. I'm not a very good photographer, but I try my best. As for the slogans, I wanted something with a US penny theme, and there's only so many ways one can add a twist to the original words. That said, I kind of like the slogans.

These look real nice and shiney Smiley
May order a 2-pack, maybe add a payment option for Bitcoin rather than having to email you? That may keep some load off you...

I completely agree! We're still working on building a proper shopping cart to include direct bitcoin sales. Until it's done, we're stuck doing things manually. =/

Thank you again, everyone. And please let me know if you have any more questions or comments. We appreciate them all. =)

Christopher

2659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Safer Compared To Other Digital Payment Platforms on: March 05, 2015, 08:13:05 PM
A result of a new survey says that US customers are more confident in transacting bitcoin and considers it safe compared to other online wallets or mobile apps.

Although we are in the most bottom part of the survey, I myself can say that this is a positive thing for us.

As what analysts says, give bitcoin time.

Soon.

I agree. According to the article, it's already passed checks in approval ratings. That's a big step for the general public. Approval/acceptance will only grow exponentially. (Fingers cross'd.)
