2642  Economy / Economics / Re: Privacy Coins and The Shadow Economy on: July 13, 2020, 09:37:51 PM
@beerlover

I call this a fake problem. Despite all the AML regulations we have, it doesn't stop the pedos. Currently, banknotes are perhaps the best way to stay under the radar, governments will never ban to use banknotes. (That's also perhaps one of the reasons governments are looking into CBDCs).
It's impossible, for many reasons (unbanked/debunked people, seniors, and so on)

What could they do with privacy-centric cryptocurrencies? At best they could force exchange platforms to not list any coins, the same for marketplaces, anything run by a company that abides by the laws. Other than that? They won't be able to stop people to download a wallet and trade with someone P2P.

...

They all do that otherwise, they wouldn't be able to scam or just peanuts.

Did you request a refund? No man, he just contacted him to see if they can drink the coffee together and he joined the forum to see how is the weather.

it would be good to remove this mixer from the list of work services. I found it on that list and I don't want other people to lose their coins either.

Removed, let me know if he gives back your coins. Thxs
2644  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Who acquired Purse.io? on: July 13, 2020, 06:45:01 PM
From what I'd read about it in the news and from a video I watched from R Ver at that time, he didn't acquire Purse.io. (at least it was the conclusion to me). He certainly invested money, I don't know under what condition, but he doesn't own it and doesn't have a majority in the shares...

I suppose he invested in just enough to let the company running and force it to add Btrash  as a condition to get his money

2647  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano help? on: July 12, 2020, 08:16:04 PM
Does anyone know if Ledger will bring back all the currency support they use to have? I live in Australia and they use to have an AUD option (amongst many others) but it randomly disappeared one day. I contacted Ledger directly, but support said said something like they were having trouble with the 3rd party they use for currency conversions and are looking for a fix. It has been months now... Using USD is getting frustrating!
Come on Ledger.. all your competitors have AUD!!
Anyone know any update on this sort of thing??
Cheers.

What about using the Singapore Dollar? It has a rate very close to AUD. I know it's not a complete solution, but it can maybe used. There is a difference of only 1 or 2% between both.

No one can give you any indication here.

Lately there seems to be a link between crypto asset price movements and increasingly authoritarian government policies. When President Donald Trump ordered the mass dissolution of peaceful protests in the White House region on June 1, the price of Bitcoin jumped more than 8 percent.

Alright. I was observing the person for several days, with another user, and seeing them continuing day by day I started to be in doubt.

...
We have been discussed it on local board and thanks for Baofeng in mentioning this cite to search for a plagiarized content.

That doesn't help in such cases.

I mean, I wouldn't perma-ban this person, only because the person put a little effort in changing words etc.

But I suppose, considering the user is relatively new, the mods could delete his synonymized posts, ban him for a day or two, and give a one-off warning regarding such posting and giving them the benefit of the doubt. My take on this might be considered to be quite controversial, but I still want to believe the good in people so.  Undecided

When someone does that as soon as they register on a forum I doubt the intentions are good.
2651  Economy / Economics / Re: Government+cryptocurrencies on: July 10, 2020, 08:58:08 PM
Governments can't support cryptocurrencies because it is against the morale of a state where everything must have rules defined by it, controlled by it and a currency created by it.
Cryptocurrencies being stateless it doesn't go well with a state.

But do we need government support? I think not, as long we have a need for BTC, in our daily life, we participate in creating an economy, we don't need approval or support.
2652  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which wallet as per you is Privacy centric? on: July 10, 2020, 07:10:06 PM

Instead of Mycelium look at Samourai wallet.  It allows both TOR and VPN connectivity but unlike Mycelium  can "rotate" your coins inside whirpool  making them indistinguishable  from others ( like a giant hotel washing machine makes all bed linens undistinguished  from each other).  Mycelium  can’t even hold its own.

Just a precision
What they call Whirpool is nothing more than coinjoin, it's forked from the ZeroLink framework.
It's also good to mention that Whirpool is still considered in Beta.

It's only available for Android devices.

People can use Whirpool on all devices https://support.samourai.io/article/91-mixing-on-mobile-with-whirlpool
2653  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Unable to log into Bitcoin due to this message:ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATC on: July 10, 2020, 03:48:15 PM
Thanks for your replies. However, I am going into the Bitcoin.com site and clicking on the login window and then get the message. So still don't know how to overcome the situation. I have sent a couple of messages to their support team but not receiving a reply.

I checked the website (https://wallet.bitcoin.com/) and there is something I don't understand. There is no login button, you download the application either for Android, Apple, Linux, or Windows.
Any possibility that they moved from a web-based wallet to a software/application wallet?

Try also to disable your antivirus,  some of them perform an SSL scan and if their web server uses an old protocol not recognized it can trigger the same message.
2654  Other / Meta / Round #5 Users Rewriting/Spinning/Paraphrasing/synonymize on: July 10, 2020, 12:47:58 PM
User: @BTCWALK

It was a bit obvious to me that he wasn't the source of the long comments posted. A "normal" user doesn't have this habit of commenting, constantly posting long texts good enough for a blog post. A "normal" user has a mix of short-medium-long posts, participate in discussions, and other things.

I was pretty sure it was a pure translation, so I tried to reverse it with several languages, to no avail. Finally, I found out that he was simply rewriting texts he found online.
I don't believe he/she is using a text spinner tool (or I admit it's a good one) but rewriting manually, whatever, I still don't think it's something acceptable. Either you have your own opinion and participate in a discussion forum, or feel the need to play the parrot card in which case we don't need this.

Should it be moderated? I don't know if I'm the first one to notice him and nobody reported before, or it's considered ok "to steal the intelligence" of someone else?

An example:
The system has no balance. We can all see in the luxurious mansions of the wealthy San Francisco that only a few blocks away from the poor tents of the homeless. We can well feel this in individuals and certain businesses that do nothing better for civil society but earn ridiculous amounts of money. We can understand this by looking at those who are just as eager to spend money, and on the other hand, we are witnessing a very difficult situation for those whose debts have crushed their souls.

original text:

The system is rigged. We all can see it in the opulent residences of the rich in San Francisco which lie blocks away from the squalid tents of the homeless. We can feel it in the way that certain people and businesses do little to better civilization yet make ludicrous amounts of money. We can hear it in the frivolity with which certain people spend money and the morbid gravity of those whose souls are crushed by debt.

I could post other examples but it's time-consuming to find the sources, you can find it not by looking at the text but the thread's title. He/she doesn't spin titles
2655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the difference between a bitcoin address and a bitcoin wallet? on: July 10, 2020, 12:01:56 PM
...The wallet is where you store bitcoin  ...

Misconception, it's wrong. A wallet stores the key, not the coins.

Bitcoins don't exist physically and so can't be stored in a wallet. Bitcoins are recorded in a database (the blockchain) and a wallet is what allows you to transfer BTC from address A to address B using private key and cryptography.

Otherwise, we could duplicate a wallet and double the bitcoins in.

...

Doing its job?

At first, they said it wasn't serious and it wasn't a health emergency. A few days later they said the opposite, advising us to wear masks and everything. How could they say it wasn't important when we don't even know about this disease.

It is good to remember that Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus did the same thing with Ebola when he was minister of health in Ethiopia. Finally, it was discovered that this was so as not to scare investors in the country.

I'm sure it's the same thing with covid-19, so as not to damage the world economy. You see, money first, your life comes second.

WHO can not do its job properly when it has governance problems by the way.

And since we're talking about a financial reset, it's interesting to know that countries collected a lot of gold recently and I don't remember from where it was coming but there were even 400 tons of gold transferred to New York in the last 3 months...

Excuse me @OcTradism. In reality, I bookmarked your post as a reminder to update it but then I forgot.
I'm so sick these days with symptoms smelling COVID-19.
I update the post right now.

Thanks for the help dude
2658  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Nexo - "Earn 8% dividend a year with no risks" on: July 09, 2020, 05:22:27 PM

...

You know people criticize Nexo with the argument that you don't hold the funds, but they themselves use a bank account where it's exactly the same thing (and even worse knowing that with a bank you can't empty your account overnight.)

Since Nexo is based on Switzerland I suppose the company is regulated there but since it's powered by Credissimo I'm not sure. And this sentence from the FAQ makes me think it's regulated by different agencies, which makes sense if they operate in different countries
Quote
Its global operations are powered by the profound lending experience of Credissimo, a leading FinTech Group serving millions of people across Europe for over 10 years, while multiple banking and financial service regulators.

I remember an article not long ago talking about the average amount invested in this platform. It showed that most people aren't the typical average Joe, not the middle class I mean. And you won't see "rich guys" posting reviews on Trustpilot
2659  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Lesson: Stop loss Strategies on: July 09, 2020, 04:47:33 PM
I know it's something obvious for some users but it's good to add that it's not free. When a stop-loss order is executed, so a market order, it incurs taker fees.
You forgot to mention the Negative offset from the current market price, which is similar to percentage-based, for those lazy with percentages.

There are also more advanced Stop loss limit orders
2660  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoins stolen from Electrum wallet on: July 08, 2020, 08:55:03 PM
Nothing you can do, transactions are irreversible. You will be considered extraordinarily lucky if Huobi blocks the coins and give back to you.
Don't waste your time with the police, they will hardly be able to do something, not even to understand a transaction

The most important thing now is to check your machine for a vulnerability (virus, malware,...) and to try to understand what could have happened to you and how you could have been robbed...

If it has been done with a malicious Electrum update, malware, or something else.
