2645  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: February 15, 2014, 09:57:10 PM
I bought 2 antminers from Bitmain during Chinese New Year, and they arrived a few days ago.  One of them's a little sketchy though...
It has thermal paste on almost every screw and around the edges of the board.  A little different from the others I have received.  I could post pictures if you want to see what I'm talking about.

The main problem with this board is that I cannot get it mining; whether that is a network problem or a blade problem I do not know.

I've set up several ants before and I am an advid linuxr, so I assume it's the board's problem and not me.

I scanned for a network in the wifi tab, and it found mine with about a 40% connection, which, I assume, is decent.  It's adjacent to my other ants and they work, so I assume it's not a distance issue.  It creates the new network successfully; however, it says it has a 0% connection with no data up or down.  My other miners connect and start running as soon as I complete this step.

My mining pool is configured, my LAN is DHCP, my WAN is static with 8.8.8.8 for DNS, I can log in to the WebUI with no issues.  It's configuration is essentially the same as my other miners; however, this one is not working.

Any suggestions on how I can start her up?

I've already contacted Bitmain, and I am waiting their response on exchanging this one for a new one.  In the meanwhile, I would like it to mine somehow through my computer's connection through Ethernet.  I don't want it sitting here like a paperweight until I get a replacement.

I'll tip anyone $20 or more who gives me some working advice.

Kind regards,

EDIT: Some additional info:
Every time I turn it off, it forgets my network and my time synchronization, even if I hit save and apply; however, it remembers my mining configuration.
Also, the C31 light emitting diode blinks consistently with a frequency of a little under 1 Hz.
No LEDs are lit on the blades.

1) It has more then enough power? (>500W)
2) did you remove the 'ipv4broadcast' configuration? It usually ships with 192.168.1.255 and this causes issues frequently. leave this blank.
3) double-check your gateway IP is correct for your router.
4) forgetting the time sync is possibly just a result of it not connecting to the internet

5) Is there thermal grease that got onto the chips/resisters on the board? You can clean this easily with 99% rubbing alcohol (any drug store) and q-tips. If any goo got into the circuits it could throw errors back from the affected components
6) you can also take a multimeter and check voltages. you should be able to get 1.1V across every inductor

hope it helps find the issue! 1AqY1gMXt5wx6jjvCyveHo1yxj3QrgLiWw

The last 2 days are a contrast to all the previous fire-sales - I dont know how there can be so much demand at >1.4BTC

hmm, today's sale is clearly not nuch smoother than yesterday's.

the site wont load right now, and it sounds like there wasnt even a price drop (1.45BTC is not a great price)
2649  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 15, 2014, 02:58:52 PM
Ok, so I was able to factory restore by following directions on here, but now I am back to my original problem.

I am following the directions in the op, but when I manually input the ip address into IPv4, my computer cannot connect to the internet. I can interface with the antimner without changing my ip settings by navigating to 192.168.1.99, but it is not mining after I input and ave my pool settings.

What's your modems IP address?

Go to the ant miners network config page, make sure the gateway (your modems ip) is correct the primary DNS should also be your modems ip, go to the ant miners network diagnostics page and run both ping and DNS tests, if they work you're antminer is connected to the internet and good to go.

with the default settings, clear the field for 'ipv4 boradcast' and set DNS to 8.8.8.8

BITMAIN, would you be so kind to disclose how many PH/s of hashing power have you sold to your customers so far?

they have moved over 7,000 BTC through thier wallet address IIRC - that probably works out around 2500 miners depending what batch they came from - or roughly 500TH
2651  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Server Power Supply Interface Board - for standalone miners and GPU rigs on: February 14, 2014, 10:11:51 PM
How do I go about ordering a few boards Huh  I PM'ed sidehack,no response....yet.........  Sad

Also what AWG is best for Antminers   Huh

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

if using 3 wire pairs (3 12V, 3 GND) per blade, 16 or 18 AWG will work. be careful of 20AWG
if using 2 wire pairs (2 12V, 2 GND), 14 or 16 AWG - avoid 18AWG
if using 1 wire pair -> use 14AWG.  16AWG will get warm.
2652  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Location Found] Klondike Mining Collective - Toronto, Ontario Mining Facility on: February 14, 2014, 10:01:56 PM
The space is actually right at the back corner of an existing small company (about 7 employees) and will be within a few feet of the circuit panel. Theyve been having some bi-annual transport canada audits in the office the last few days so I was asked to hold off on a visit until after the auditors are done for the day so that the owner(s) can focus on me and we can set up an agreement and check out the exact space available. (presumably a 4'x5' or bigger area can be easily cleared up - and more space if needed)

Unfortunately the bitmain sale this morning was a massive flop with no price changes and a terrible amount of timeouts on the website. I am waiting for them to price <1.3BTC (preferably <1.25BTC) before I buy, and have about 12BTC available when that time comes.

The plan is to visit the office this monday, scope out the space and power options. Im hoping a few outlets already exist in the area to make things easy for a day or two until an electrician comes in to do the actual wiring. I was planning to install a few separate 120V 15/20A circuits plus at least a single 20A or 30A 240V circuit - depends largely on the cost.

With the outlets available, finding 240V PDU stuff is a bit tricky and expensive compared with the 'normal' 120V stuff, so I expect to balance my PSUs between the two systems while I look to get more 240V power bars and PSU cables (seriously, where do i find cheap 240V plugs for power supplies? ebay is >$10 each and in comparison I know a tech recycling place that will give me 120V PSU cords for less than a buck a piece)

With electrical in place, I will move in my own miners first (5 antminers and maybe the bitfury, plus anything that i might order from bitmain) and install a few shelving units to hold them securely. Then its onto a VPN or other remopte desktop-like configuration with a dedicated computer terminal to monitor and adjust the miners from off-site. Then its the IP cameras for security.

Once thats all done (planned for the end of next week), I will document the location a bit better with some photos and concrete pricing for anyone who wishes to relocate existing hardware to the location. I expect:
1) a small setup fee depending partly on equipment type ($40-80)
2) rent + basic upkeep + power use as a fixed rate ($0.20/KwH most likely, +/- $0.02)
3) *if applicable* extra maintenance and monitoring fees for units that require more work. This may just be done with a simple method for billing $10/15min of work required - things like changing cgminer values or replacing dead unit PSUs or fans

basic upkeep would include things like doing power resets and maintaining the network connection and stability - I think promising a 23/7 uptime for the first month would be easy to fulfill, and then we can go for 24/7 uptime once everything is looking good.

After that, The next phase would be to start a few group buys for equipment such as antminers, using set prices and some agreement over how long the hosting term will last and who keeps the unit when its no longer profitable.

the main stuff I still need to do some of this is to figure out the best way to monitor all the machines and change payout addresses and stuff easily. P2Pool sounds like a great candidate but i have no experience yet. I understand it can result in much more rejects and lower hashrate?

Once things are in place, a simple webpage might be added - but that's still conditional on 10 other steps before it. I need to talk with an accountant and determine whether to consider this a small business or a profitable hobby - the lines may be blurry at the co-location level but if i start running a full hosting service it may become more of a 'traditional' business regarding taxes or regulations

Ive been able to pull the trigger on every pricing point so far it seems (4.75,4.25,3.25,2.2,1.9) but this one totally slipped by with no fanfare, only page errors and no price change.

lets hope for better tomorrow

^you must be insane to pay 1.45BTC for a unit now. It is hard to fathom that breaking even or generating much profit unless
a) difficulty jumps stay under 20% from here on out (somewhat unlikely)
b) you have free electricity or electricity <$0.10/kWh

I'm hoping to see the price <1.2BTC    1.3BTC is the most i would pay, and I would buy fewer

getting a bit dissapointed about wasting the last 30min on this

Hello bitmain ,

Your antminer just arrive 2 days ago,i order you 4 antminer , 3 works just fine except 1 , when i connect to my pool it just mining 90 ghs , and then  i look to mining status , there's lots of x mark on the asic status , any warranty for this situation ?

best regards
bobby

try trouble-shooting first, its a common issue.
check that all the ribbon cables are snug
check that your PSU is actually capable of >550W on the 12V rail (the antminer may draw less, but many systems cannot maintain the rated amount 24/7 without causing issues to the antminer)
check with a multimeter the voltage on the secondary board - you should be able to find 1.1V across all 4 of the inductors (grey cubes).

doing this helps narrow down your issue to a hardware problem or just a configuration/assembly slip-up
2660  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 14, 2014, 05:07:59 AM
palawan here we go mate:

ok, mate.  confirmed.

Changed the Antminer to  10.1.1.88  (I hope that's available on your network)
subnet mask  255.255.255.0
ip default gateway  10.1.1.1
ip broadcast   10.1.1.255
DNS custom   8.8.8.8

Make sure you save it.  save and apply.

disconnect from the PC and connect the miner to your router/switch

you can manage the Ant on  10.1.1.88  from your PC.

Profit.  set your miner settings.

You should not need anything in the ipv4 broacast slot - leaving it blank has worked for everyone else ive seen so far.
