2641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Build me a LTC rig on: May 22, 2013, 05:52:37 PM
any suggestions on best 7950?
if you can afford 7950, then you should jus go h.a.m, get the 7970s, sapphire twin x oc edition, then a 1500 watt power supply gold certified. you dont need a really powerful cpu, but i'd suggest the 22nm i5 and minimum of 8gb ram, if you use reaper, get 16gb. you may want to use a custom case or crate for your build. to allow the hardware space and additional cooling. pcie risers are a good option, get powered ones. i use a ssd, i dont know if that improves performance.
2642  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC price speculation thread on: May 22, 2013, 04:45:50 PM
i'll throw one. WDC is on a fence, fail or win. The first thing is to update how the difficulty changes right now, most people now know the "get difficulty" thing. When people see a new-born with low difficulty they are switching, making a quick buck, then searching for the next. WDC has to implement something like Bitgem's per block difficulty or maybe every 50 blocks, that way it stays competitive on the mining side of things, or else fail like feather coin and CNC. More services need to be offered that make it worthwhile for people even cpu mining to spend an our or two mining so they can pay for something small. WDC has to become "elastic" to miners demends and traders demands.

2644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] XenCoin XNC | Official Development Thread on: May 22, 2013, 04:33:16 PM
ok, so you want to make a coin, but you still basically have no idea what is going to make it different? Ok then good luck, i'd advise you to re-look at all you stuff and take these words into consideration
Is it somehow a requirement for a new coin to create a shady new account ? I can't believe this. How can people keep making the same  mistakes.

OK, i'm calling it this :

-LTC clone
-faster confirmations
-freaky block reward
-starting at 0 difficulty
-not launched at the promised time

You can quote me on that.

Just registered yesterday? And announcing a new coin?

I hope to have a pool, poker site, and exchange ready to launch.

If not, you're missing the new bandwagon.

I can already tell this is a dummy acc made for the coin, that already discourages people, they want someone they've seen around, even if you were trolling. That way people know who to burn when it fails  Grin Grin Grin Grin . Or how to contact the dev when they have issues. Apart from that, please make something sensible and make your launch flawless. Test yo *@+%$# before you give it out and have a few pools, services already waiting.

2646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin: 1x to 16x PCI-E extenders, CPU question on: May 22, 2013, 03:33:06 PM
no noticeable performance decrease unless your rig is underpowered. no need to worry about the cpu, cheapest is fine, youll be using the gpu.

Yup spend the money on the GPU and the extra 100 for a rock solid PSU. Go with PCpower and cooling, or heck corsair and seasonic.... just because it say 1100w on the sticker dont mean its high quality.

Also, try to make it a single rail PSU.  Not as critical as some people would have you believe, but if it is a multi rail PSU you have to pay attention to how you balance your loads.  I overloaded a rail one time on a multi-rail PSU and the thing died really quick.  Luckily no other hardware was damaged.

what is this railing stuff?

2653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Bouncing Ideas on: May 22, 2013, 08:10:16 AM
I have been studying the original purpose of crypto-currencies, and it seems we are already deviating from the plan before we accomplish step one. I'd like to hear from people who understand the blend between micro and macro finance, same with economics. I think that if we are serious about pushing these coins into actual world market and to be used in shops, we need to restate the goals of these projects based on real-life markets. The alt-coin experiment has shown that perhaps 2 or three well backed altcoins and one main coin have the ability of becoming a "world currency" acceptable in place of each respective region's currency.

The aim is to discuss and build ideas, not towards a coin but to a new approach to Banking, Economics and Finance, using the great innovations brought about by Crypto currencies. It is is my belief that with these ideas in mind, from multi-national corps to a small corner shop, we can all use cryptos more widely and securely, at the same time  reducing the dependency on establishments such as banks which are failing every year and crippling economies world wide. Already you see nations exiting their economic groups after suffering the effects of the banking system.

As we move deeper into the digital world, perhaps it's time we make strong strides towards digital currency.

ideas from the community?

2658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Bounty] Scrypt-jane CGMINER on: May 21, 2013, 02:03:05 PM
I'm mining with GPU now, works great.
Testing it for 2-3 weeks for stability, then release.

wouldnt u like a "beta " tester alongside you?

+1 willing to donate my time to do some "testing".

I'm afraid it will leak out and kills the difficulty for CPU miners.
Not even sure if I'm releasing it.

i dont mind pre-complied for x64 ubuntu, i want to see the feasibility, and considering the money it would make me, i'd be further willing to put 5 BTC for the source code.

Is there a -d flag in cgminer or am I thinking of something else? For example, if you've 3 cards and want to use all three, you pass "-d 0,1,2" which means you want to use GPU #0, GPU #1, and GPU #2.

Did you rerun aticonfig and initialize x?

Code:
sudo aticonfig -f --initial --adapter=all

then reboot

i've tried both of those and no results, when i ls it lists them all, but when i start cgminer only GPU 0 works,
