2641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto holds 980,000 Bitcoins.. does anyone know their addresses? on: May 09, 2019, 08:58:30 AM
Satoshi Nakamoto holds 980,000 Bitcoins.. does anyone know their addresses so we know if he/she/they are active in the market? I would guess Bitcoin is their baby and they wouldn't do anything to manipulate the prices and hurt Bitcoin. But would they be taking corrective measures to fight off some of the other whales?

Its kinda weird question but interesting to me if Satoshi Nakamoto is still "alive" and watching.

Everyone asking same things.

Is Satoshi alive?
How many Bitcoin he has?
Will he reveal his himself?
Can we find him/her/it?
Which is his/her/it Bitcoin adress?
...

Please, let go! Satoshi is not here. And probably will never come. I am curious about him also, but there is nothing I can do!
2642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is irreversible: strength and weakness on: May 09, 2019, 08:52:37 AM

One of the most important feature of cryptocurrency is its being irreversible. One the coin is sent, the only way for it to be back to the sender is if the receiver will do the same thing in reverse. Now, in cases of hacks, scams and frauds, it means that you better forget what you already lost as there is no way for you to recover the lost coins.

In other words, once you click the send button there is no turning back. I know that a lot of us are actually considering this a major advantage of Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency for that matter because unlike PayPal there can be no refund requests to happen.

Therefore when you are a victim of a theft, expect no one to be able to help you in recovering the coins. As one author said it, the bitcoin genie cannot be put back into the blockchain bottle.

I am wondering, can we not devise an effective and special technology that can be utilize in case of hacks or frauds? Given the advances of cryptocurrency and the blockchain we are experiencing right now, is it even possible?

I agree with you completely. It has to be irreversible!!! No one should have the power to get back blocks or anything!
I just did answer some other thread similar question;

I disagree with the idea of implementing this Rollback. Once completely against the feature of instability! There have been about 100 blocks since the hack problem. And it doesn't feel right to get all this transaction back. Moreover, those who have a lot of money in the crypto world. And no one knows they won't make it a habit.

Thousands of people were being victimized in the event of Mt.GOX, or before, and no one was interested in Rollback? But when it comes to CZ and its precious exchange, we talk about it. CZ says that they are trying to be the best in every speech, making breakthrough in every field. CZ should not forget that the first thing you need to do is to secure the Binance platform and the money there!

The most important thing we need to protect for Bitcoin is that we have to be decentralized. CZ, Ver or any person should not have this power.

As far as i am concerned, malicious actor were able to obtain API keys, 2FA codes, etc.. from the victims, correct ?

I answered a quetion in a different thread. A lot of thread has just created about Binance hack. So there is nothing you should afraid of now.

No matter how hard we try. One day they will find a way again. This is the life story of mankind. First, the disease occurs, then the humanity to deal with. Sometimes the solution comes in days. Sometimes it takes years. There's not a lot we can't come up with. I'm sure there will be an extra security measure now and this will be enough for a while. Then we will experience the same things ... The nature of mankind ...
2645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs USD Storing Value on: May 09, 2019, 08:36:45 AM
Nowadays, people are starting to realize the true "value" of cryptocurrency over fiat. The limited supply of cryptocurrencies makes it invulnerable to inflation and more people are switching to cryptocurrencies. And of course fiat is so much vulnerable to inflation, the government keeps printing paper money, killing its value and not achieving balance in the economy.
Some more years and the whole world will switch to using cryptocurrencies.

I don't think there is no so much people in the world which thinking real value on cryptocurrencies. Because people still looks investment for cryptocurrencies. Firstly, we should use it payment method globally. When its done we can talk about real value rather than FIAT money.

And yes I agree, we may forget what is inflation in future. Because, technically, there is now way inflation with Bitcoin.
2646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs USD Storing Value on: May 09, 2019, 06:34:32 AM

Spot the difference.

As you can see, the supply is limited for Bitcoin, but for the USD, they can print anytime and look at the purchasing power of USD, it's dropping.

Do you agree that one of the reasons why USD value is dropping is also because of cryptocurrency?

We are all know that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies re-shape world economies. But I don't think it can affect dollars value direct way. We are focusing Bitcoin price so much. But the balance on global economy is affect to USD much more cryptocurrencies yet.

USD supply can be arranged. But Bitcoin will draw its future own. So we can only support it and watch it where will it go.

2648  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance #safu fund on: May 09, 2019, 06:08:43 AM

Does anyone know if Binance can take care  of the 7,000 + lost btc by themselves, or are they going to need help from Justin Son. Also I heard somewhere that there #safu fund is in bnb. Can anyone confirm this?

7000 BTC is big amount of us. But Binance earn this amount of BTC sometimes daily. I don't know what will happen next time but I am sure that Binance will recover all this damage for this time.
2649  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you protect your digital coins? on: May 08, 2019, 08:14:42 PM
cryptocurrency market started to grow day after day, and everyone now started to own coins, so the question now which come to all the coin's holders , how to protect your digital coin from losing, stealing, hacking, etc ?

Actually I think we have a two ways which are completely safe. Paper wallet and hardware wallet. I am using both. I created paper wallets and bought a Ledger. I am holding some of my coins in paper wallet
, some of in Ledger.

I think we should remind again about exchanges. All exchanges include some risk. It is not your money which you are holding in exchanges. Be carefull please.
2650  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance lost $40.7 million to hackers, which exchange is next!!! on: May 08, 2019, 06:30:57 AM
Would you just stop spreading this issue?you are not helping the market stupid by sharing same topic all over the place

40$ million is just a small amount for a big exchange like binance,so ths question is why need the hacker take this small amount when they are capable of taking more?lol this is just nothing but another bad issue to discourage investors to continue supporting the market

I completely agree with you. There is no need to panic. Binance will easily compensate. So calm down and focus your own trading. I am sure that everyone funds in secure with Binance.
2651  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance lost $40.7 million to hackers, which exchange is next!!! on: May 08, 2019, 06:25:58 AM
When it looks like the market is recovering from the bear market, yet another major exchange is hacked and $40.7 million is lost, looks like there is no end for these hacks and not sure which exchange is the next target. These security breaches will impact the market in a huge way as investors will think twice before investing because none of the exchanges are safe, they might refund the users because as per the news only a small percentage of the funds are lost but what i really do not understand is that when these huge amounts of withdrawals are executed how they are passing through the internal audit and many hacks in the past were not transparent, hopefully they will provide the details on how this hack happened.

Zhao was fighting a nobody in Craig and if he could have being more careful with his internal security rather than fighting bull shit artists these hacks wont happen.
Here is the link to the article about the entire news

I guess this news hasn't been confirmed yet. But even if it's true, I don't think it's too big for Binance. He may even have a few days' earnings. They won't hurt anyone.
2652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where would you like to see Bitcoin accepted? on: May 08, 2019, 06:24:20 AM
In addition to the anonymous VPN, web hosting and filesharing providers mentioned before, it would be cool if some IT freelancer sites, many of which offer an escrow service, accepted BTC. Any other cool ideas?

It is a great question. I think, it would be great if we can use BTC in e-commerce platforms. For example E-bay running global operations. Amazon also. And I think global food chains, would be great also. Like Burger King, McDonalds, Starbucks ...etc.
2653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Data Size on: May 08, 2019, 06:15:05 AM
As we know the Blockchain network has reached a great amount size already.
what is the "Blockchain network"?!! Cheesy
you mean the "block-chain" as in the chain of blocks? that is not a "network"!

I mean Bitcoin network. As you know there is a lot of different running blockchain. That's not a point which I mean!

In my opinion, increasing the block size is not an option. Because as you see in this chart (below), data size getting bigger day by day.
are you running a full node right now or have you ever in the past? if not then you what difference does it make to you who aren't even running a node?

No, I have no experience about mining yet. I just want to learn something here, if you let me Wink

Shoot your opinion. Let's talk about block size! Do we need really any change in block size?
there are about hundreds of topics with dozens of them active right now talking about this. i don't see the point of a new one unless you have some new discussions yourself that you want to add?

I know that there are a lot of topics and no one of this didn't answer my question just like your post!
There are thousand of thread about "which coin should I buy" also. But everyone says something in that post. And sometimes we can see usefull post that threads. So I don't think it is forbidden to share! I found a blocksize chart and want to learn something. Please don't create unnecessary dispute. If you have a good info for this great community, share it and let us all benefit. We don't need any pointless discussion here.

In my opinion, increasing the block size is not an option. Because as you see in this chart (below), data size getting bigger day by day. In 2 years we reached x2 data size already.

[Chart Source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/647523/worldwide-bitcoin-blockchain-size/]

I think if the block size will be increased, we can see 1 TB in a few months.

Shoot your opinion. Let's talk about block size! Do we need really any change in block size?
2655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Automated blocksize increases on: May 07, 2019, 07:10:43 PM
Comeee onnnn! We shouldn't talk about any news forks. We are watching old ones which they are completely useless. Let go this fork shits also.

There is one big problem we should solve ASAP. It is energy consumption. It is not sustainable now. And I guess we need more developed mining device would be fine.
I do agree with you here. I have honestly had enough of these forks which are basically splitting our crypto communities instead of uniting them thanks to different perspectives.

Also, Bitman just released new miners which is good progress and they focused on improving energy efficiency which is epic indeed.

Yeah, another fork will just cause another market collapse as the public thinks this industry is a joke. Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Rabbit, Bitcoin Diamond, Bitcoin Buttcheeks, etc., etc. There is already a flavor for everyone.

I'm not talking about creating an altcoin with a fork. I'm talking about upgrading bitcoin with a fork, as plenty of other coins do but bitcoin has yet to do, at least not since the very early days.

I see that. But I think you don't want to understand we are talking about a big data size already now. As you see in this chart, blockchain data size reach over 200GB. So all computer keep 200GB data in blockchain network already. If we increase the data size x2-x4, then we will reach to 1 tb in a few months. So I think we have no choice about data size.

Cricket is a very unknown game in my country. But I just love it as a spectator. Where can I watch this series online?
That depends on where you stay. Hotstar and Sonyliv are some of the best ways to view Cricket online. Check these links:

https://www.hotstar.com/sports/cricket

https://www.sonyliv.com/listing/all_cricket_sports

I think I may find in this channel on IPTV. I am also looking for a IPTV server which I can watch all sport activity on world. Hope I'll find one.

2658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling securely and sensibly online on: May 07, 2019, 11:20:53 AM
For most people (myself included), gambling at online casino's is a harmless pass time fun activity, but of course it can become a problem for many.   IMO, to lessen the risk of becoming a problem gambler, there are certain things i bear in mind such as,
  • Gambling for Fun - Not to Win Money  Smiley
  • Setting myself a gambling goal
  • I Bet small  (don't blow all your money at once)
  • I practice gambling with friends  Grin
  • Set time limits and walk away  Roll Eyes

Many of these are easier said than done of course but it might be worth noting.   Online gambling is probably the best thing to happen since sliced bread  Huh and i'm not saying these points could or would work for everyone but they might help in enjoying gambling in a healthy, financially sensible way.

I'm interested to know how you keep tabs and control on your gambling to make sure that one does not become a compulsive gambler or problem gambler.

Gambling is an interesting activity. Even though it has great risks, it has something that attracts people. But being careful is always mandatory. I just think that those who play for fun will always be happy.
2659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin’s biggest mystery soon be revealed? on: May 07, 2019, 11:15:22 AM
Bitcoin has its fair share of mysteries; exactly how it works being one that most users will never understand.
people don't understand how 90% of the world works starting from the coffee maker they use in the morning to the bed springs they sleep on at night. that  doesn't make any of them "mysterious".

The greatest comment I've ever seen about this Satoshi issues. I think people don't want to understand why he/she/it don't want to be found. I don't want to say cliché here. But if you're still looking for Satoshi, we're all Satoshi. Let go Satoshi alone. Focus on market!
2660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Automated blocksize increases on: May 07, 2019, 11:07:32 AM
I think any reasonable person understands that bitcoin needs blocksize increases, otherwise bitcoin's growth will become increasingly and extremely stifled, even if the LN becomes a big part of bitcoin. The question is how to reasonably increase the blocksize.

I can understand if you're thinking Bitcoin won't be future's money. Let's increase blocksize today X2. What about then? What will happen 2 years later? 10 years? We are trying to handle electricity already. If we will increase the block size in every few years, we need big size computer disks also. It can be complicated you have thought.

I think the two main things are to do it gradually, but ideally only make one hard fork to bitcoin to do it. That's where my idea of automated blocksize increases comes in. I don't know if this has been talked about, but I've never seen mention of it.
