@JSRAW I’m surprised that South Africa has been able to arrange this series, as I felt that they would be sanctioned by ICC due to their government being involved in their internal matters, but it seems that for now they’re escaping the sanction. Furthermore I have always enjoyed the series between these two sides, and I feel that both the teams are equally balanced, hence it’ll be an very interesting series to watch.

Source:

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/30113345/cricket-south-africa-escape-icc-penalty-case-government-interference-now

The ICC should ban South Africa, not for government interference, but for the racial quotas in cricket teams. South Africa was banned for almost 3 decades during the apartheid era. What happening now is not much different. A majority of the players in the national team, as well as the first class teams are based on the basis of race (6 out of 11). This racial quota has transformed the South African team to a laughing stock.
2642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin transaction fees be too high in the future? on: October 28, 2020, 11:17:12 AM
This is the chart of Bitcoin's Avg. Transaction fee: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/bitcoin-transactionfees.html

Right now the median fee is about $2. After lots of halvings the reward won't be enough to satisfy the miners. I guess that after a decade, bitcoin will be more widespread, as a result, more transactions will occur every second. Won't this increase the median fee? If it does, bitcoin will start being a not-so medium of exchange. Imagine paying $5 for a transaction. Even paypal doesn't charge that much.

The next block reward halving is almost 4 years away, so that is not an immediate concern for the miners. BTW, you need to understand that the userbase is expected to increase sharply in the future. Along with it, the number of transactions may also witness a steep surge. So the fee reward per block may remain stable, or even show an increase. But the median transaction fee will remain at the same level. The only thing to remember here is that we need a substantial block size increase at some point in the future, to keep mempool at tolerable levels.

2643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to my bitcoin if I die today? on: October 28, 2020, 11:04:22 AM
This question has been asked and answered several times: if you keep your Bitcoin a secret and don’t let your family know about it, then you’re on your own, and if anything should happen tomorrow, nobody would know about it, they wouldn’t know that you have stored Bitcoin in any wallet and the coins will be gone forever. So, my advice is that you should share the secret with your family.

I have seen people who say that they can’t share secrets with their family, because they don’t trust anyone lol. Any family where there is no trust is not truly a family, because what makes up a family is trust, love, and nothing more. If you can’t trust your family enough to share information that has to do with your cryptocurrency with them, then it’s of no need worrying about things like this, just enjoy your life while it lasts.

I don't agree with the second part of your post. You never know what may happen in the future, and therefore it is always safe to keep some of these things as a secret even from your family. I have seen a perfect example in front of my own eyes. One of my friends (this was the guy who introduced me to Bitcoins in 2017) went through his divorce proceedings in 2018. His wife was unaware of the fact that almost 80% of his wealth is stored in the form of cryptocurrency. She got most of the remaining 20% (divorce rules are very much biased towards women in India), but my friend avoided becoming bankrupt, as he never disclosed his cryptocurrency holdings.
2644  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏏🏏 sportbet.one 🏏🏏 [IPL 2020] Prediction pool and discussion 🏏🏏 on: October 28, 2020, 10:03:38 AM
Yeah chances are slim but i really like 1st scenario, if it goes accordingly then NRR might ruin fun for some. Every game is important from here. MI and RCB seems to be fighting for 1st and 2nd position and why not, being at top has it advantage - one extra chance to get into finals-

For "14 points and 4th position" scenario RR and CSK need to win their remaining last 2 games against KXI and KKR. in this case Punjab might get the 4th spot due to better NRR.

If SRH wins their remaining two matches, then they will end up on 14 points. And after their crushing victory against the Delhi Capitals, their net run rate is the second highest for any of the teams. For SRH, the net run rate is +0.396, while for the two teams you mentioned, it is much lower. For Rajasthan Royals, the NRR is -0.505, while CSK doesn't have any realistic chance of qualifying. But just one good match can alter the NRR in a big way.
2645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 28, 2020, 09:51:15 AM
I would be very careful or skeptical if he's wearing blue jersey despite his recent performance in IPL. If we put aside his brilliant spell against KKR then he doesn't have much to show. On the other hand he earned few fans in Red ball cricket when playing in Ranji and India A so i don't mind if he get into Test squad, however Jayadev Unadkat is more successful in domestic cricket but he didn't get call for Test Squad.

Here i feel that Selection committee see IPL performance is kinda benchmark, which is ridiculous IMO.

There is no doubt that Jayadev Unadkat is a good bowler. But whatever chance he had for a comeback evaporated when he bowled that disastrous over against AB de Villiers. It was such a devastating blow for his team as well. RR never recovered from the defeat they suffered during that match. And Steve Smith never again had the confidence to include Unadkat in the playing XI.

After getting a massive win, SunRisers Hyderabad have moved up to the 6th position in the point table. Yet it's much difficult so sorry to say SRH don't have any chance to playoff round at this stage. IPL 2020 getting more interesting now with still no one confirms their play off place, let's hope for the best.

SRH's run rate has got such a massive boost. Earlier their net run rate was in negative, and just because of one massive victory, it has gone in to positive now (+0.396, with only the Mumbai Indians having a better run rate). With a lot of teams likely to end up on 14-points each, the run rate can be very important. All they need to do is to win the remaining two matches.
2647  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 27, 2020, 07:42:34 PM
Rashid Khan is undoubtly currently one of most lethal bowler in short format cricket and can change things alone for any team but for me its very late for SRH as they need to win next both matches with margin like today which is hard for them as KIXP is also improving in last few matches and KKR is also doing hard for spot in play off's even right now we have some good fight but SRH is going with very rare chance for qualifying.

In case he plays a good number of test matches, then he has the potential to become one of the most important spinners in that format as well. Personally I would say that he is among the top 3 spinners right now. But I don't think that Afghanistan plays a large number of test matches every year. Even before the pandemic, at the most they used to play 1-2 matches in a calendar year.
2648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 27, 2020, 04:56:03 PM
So after this match, SRH will end up with 10 points. They need to win both their remaining matches, to have any realistic chance of qualifying for the playoffs. I guess they are going to win by a good margin, and that is going to help their run rate as well. Even before this match their net run rate was positive, and that gives them an advantage over teams such as KKR and KXIP.
2649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏏🏏 sportbet.one 🏏🏏 [IPL 2020] Prediction pool and discussion 🏏🏏 on: October 27, 2020, 04:37:52 PM
What a start SRH made, i picked them to win the match but i did not expect they would drop Jonny Bairstow and then when Wriddhiman Saha came out to open the bat i was puzzle but i was so wrong with they way he is toying with the bowlers, pure batting display with good placement and negating the spinners with perfect sweep shots and i am expecting them to score well above 200 runs with the way they are playing.

Nothing is working for me. Picked DC for today's match and see the condition in which they are in. DC was the franchise which most of us regarded as having the best bowling attack in this tournament. Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Ravichandran Ashwin were fabulous during the initial phases. I don't know what happened to them all of a sudden. Rabada went for 54 from his 4 overs today.

Punjab was sitting losing back earlier but as soon as Gayle came to playing 11 things have changed.
Now Punjab is on a winning streak. The team is young and forward. I guess the two teams that steals the eyes are Delhi and Punjab. of course the Kohli luck is working this time, but still, I prefer DC and Punjab.

There is no doubt that the inclusion of Chris Gayle has strengthened the KXIP middle order. Earlier whenever KL Rahul or Mayank Agarwal used to get out inside the first powerplay, the KXIP middle order used to collapse. Maxwell and other batsmen were unable to dig in and rescue the team. That has changed now. Gayle is scoring runs and he is scoring them quickly.
2651  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Was 2017 the "Golden Year of Crypto"? on: October 27, 2020, 11:30:26 AM
Most of the project , coins and many investors earned a lot of money in the year 2017 because the bull market happened even I experienced also to earn more money . But 2018 and 2019 is not good for us because the rpice is continue decreasing but when 2020 entered we have hope and it will happened right now we can back or better the price the value of the crypto and we can create again another golden year for the crypto if we reallly want .

There was a bull run in 2017, but it was not sustainable. Many of the smaller projects went up by 100x or 200x, but they were unable to keep the hype alive. Also, there were incidents, when some of the teams received unexpected windfall and after that they vanished with all that money. If a similar bull run happens in the future, I just hope that it will be sustainable.

I can agree at a certain point, I think this is more of an intimidation tactic rather than glory for their country. Hongkong's case is that they are invalidating the agreement they had between United Kingdom that makes Hongkong free state until 2047, they do not see it as a resource expansion, this is more on One China Policy like the case with Taiwan with Taiwan not wanting to associate with Mainland China and wanting to be recognized as a country.

The British government has offered a pathway to UK citizenship to around 3 million residents of Hong Kong, who have British National (Overseas) status. I am not sure how many of the residents are going to apply, but this is a big blow for China. If UK goes ahead with its plan, then it will trigger a massive brain drain and eventually it will destroy the HK economy.
2653  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: October 27, 2020, 11:08:34 AM
When you have a surplus money you need to invest it, in that money will work for you, not against you (inflation). Buying gold, investing in development of some products, in the last 10 years investing in crypto... there're many options what country can do with extra money! Here we need to take a look on the bigger picture, sometimes you can't breathe from bullies around, and Venezuela have some problems with their gold in the UK (they are saying billions in gold is locked), they say it's because Maduro, but who knows what's really happening on the global stage! As I always say, I am aware that innocents are being hurt, and innocent suffer mostly, which is terrible thing, while warlords and their families, close people, enjoy in life full of everything! It's not the first time we see this, and for sure it's not the last time!

The regime sold all the gold bars they could find in the treasury. When that was finished, they realized that the majority of the Venezuelan gold reserves are stored in some vault in London (because the previous government thought that storing that in Venezuela is very risky). Now Maduro wants to return this gold to Venezuela. British government rejected the request, saying that they don't consider Maduro as the rightful president of Venezuela.
2654  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal to allow cryptocurrency buying, selling and shopping on its network on: October 27, 2020, 10:30:48 AM
It's a good news for us who uses cryptocurrency, there is a lot of user of paypal and once they see the payment method of crypto maybe they will use also this and become investors that can help to the community to grow more and to the price too. Paypal is big company and it is a win win situation between bitcoin and paypal because it is a big impact to them also and to us of adding cryptocurrency to the paypal.

PayPal probably allowed Bitcoin in its platform because they consider it to be an investment asset. If they considered it as a mode of payment, then they could have never allowed it in their platform. After all, even giant-sized corporations are wary about their competitors. Anyway, now the glass ceiling has been broken and I expect other corporations to follow suit.

I agree with you about Narine and Karthik, but not Russell. Kicking Russell from the team because of one bad season is pure stupidity. He can be more dangerous than Pollard and Gayle on his day and he is a decent bowler too.

I think by now Russell has got fair number of chances. He is out of form and at least for the next two matches, he needs to be rested. As per the rules of the IPL, only 4 overseas players can be included in the playing XI. Players such as Narine and Russell are eating up valuable overseas player slots and I want the KKR management to give chances to other players such as Ali Khan and Chris Green.

SRH vs DC match today. A win in this match should propel DC to the top of the table, as their run-rate is also quite good.
After losing 7 wickets for 24 runs in that collapse against KXIP, Sunrisers should probably just let DC take the win points. If Shaw strikes a bit of form and Pant contributes to the run-rate the way he does, then this could well be my first winning pick in this round on the Pool. I missed picking the first 3 and the next 3 went the other way, so I am at a glorious 0/6 from 9 picks. (I have a haunch that the begging spoon appearing against my profile has something to do with this?)

This round was really bad for me as well. We had too many upsets and strong teams such as DC and MI suffered thrashing defeats. But none of those defeats were more shocking than the one SRH suffered at the hands of KXIP. Chasing 127 to win, they lost the match when their middle and lower order collapsed. Mumbai Indians' defeat against RR was also difficult to fathom. After making a total of 195 at Abu Dhabi, they went on to lose the match.
2657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏏🏏 sportbet.one 🏏🏏 [IPL 2020] Prediction pool and discussion 🏏🏏 on: October 27, 2020, 05:33:41 AM
The difference was Chris Gayle as he smashed the spinners and since they were playing in Sharjah anything Gayle miss hits will go above the ropes, Shubman Gill made some blunders rejected many singles even when Lockie Ferguson was playing his shots and not wasting balls and even when Gill was caught in the boundary rejecting a single the ball earlier he did not cross so that Ferguson could take the strike.

Shubman Gill is a good player, but I don't like his attitude. He played well yesterday, but refusing to take that single was not right. In the end Lockie Ferguson ended up with a better strike rate than him. All that said, KKR needs to think about some of their star players such as Narine, Karthik and Russell. Apart from one or two matches, they have been a burden to the team. After so many failures, I don't think that it will be wrong to give chances to some of the younger players in their place.
2658  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 27, 2020, 05:20:27 AM
Siraj can't match speed of Saini and Yadav, they are fast and on the other hand Siraj is medium pacer who barely clock 140 Kmph.
Bhai Aussie have likes of Smith, Labuschange, Usman Khawaja (if he's get into playing XI) in middle order.

IMO, Siraj is a very ordinary bowler. He is playing for RCB and that probably explains his rapid rise in the national team. For the Australian tour, I would have expected the selectors to pick someone with a bit more experience in playing under such conditions. Siraj could have been OK for the short format but I am doubtful whether he can handle the pressure and stress of the test format.
2659  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 26, 2020, 04:51:53 PM
Well.. the squads look good. But I am confused about the inclusion of Mohammed Siraj in the test side. His first class record is not that impressive, and I always thought that he performs better in the shorter format. Also, I am not in favor of the inclusion of Hanuma Vihari. His performance against New Zealand early this year was unimpressive and I was thinking that he could be replaced with some of the younger batsmen.
2660  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 26, 2020, 04:36:20 PM
KKR gave a target of 150 runs. After watching the first few overs of the match I didn’t think they would be able to run so much. Gill and Morgan's partnership was very good. If Morgan could have played a few more overs, Kolkata might have been able to score 160 runs. 150 is a good target. KKR has a chance to win this match. But you know, KXIP's batting lineup is very good and everyone is in form now. If KXIP will win today's match, they may be able to play in the playoffs. Let's see who wins the game!

In Sharjah, even 160 is not a par score. You need somewhere around 180-190. I think it is going to be a cakewalk for Punjab. After 7 overs, they are firmly on track and haven't lost any wickets. For KKR, the pacers were unimpressive (don't know why the best bowler is not being called to bowl yet - Lockie Ferguson). The spinners (Sunil Narine & Varun Chakravarthy) are bowling economically, but if they want to have any chance in this match, then they need to take quick wickets.
