Isn't Mars One a scam?

https://medium.com/matter/mars-one-insider-quits-dangerously-flawed-project-2dfef95217d3

This comedian made a funny video for the application and she was approved.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j59NyrhiDiA

how it is a scam if they are not requesting any money, but they are offering everything?

i can't see as a scam sincerely

It's probably more of a publicity stunt or attention seeking by the fantasist who created it than a traditional scam, but I think they might have charged people a fee to review their applications and they're selling merchandise etc but regardless of their motives one thing is for sure it's not going to happen as there's not the money or technology for it.
Well, we don't know that for sure as of now.  It's what will happen over the span of the next 10 years that will dictate whether this mission will become a reality or a complete fail.

It will never happen, it will keep being delayed over and over again, it already was postponed, initial schedule was to get humans on Mars by 2023, IIRC.

That was pretty awesome!

Is this the first time a government posts a message on the blockchain?

FoxNews is framing this as an attack on Christianity.

Greece's problem is not a currency problem, Euro is a pretty strong currency, one of the major world reserve currencies, Greece's problem is about debt, corruption and incompetent politicians.

Litecoin doubled price in the last two weeks or so, things are getting interesting. Cheesy
2667  Other / Politics & Society / Re: South Carolina church shooting: Nine die in Charleston 'hate crime' on: June 18, 2015, 10:50:40 PM
Some time ago there was a "mass shooting" in my country, a 16 year old disturbed teenager tried to slaughter his classmates and teacher, well, there was no shooting because it may be quite difficult to get a gun, specially if you are 16 years old, he tried though.

Not being able to acquire a gun he then proceeded the "massacre" with 5 kitchen knives, in the end 5 people were injured without severity and no one was killed.

The guy confessed he was motivated by the Columbine and Sandy Hook massacres and the goal was to kill 60 people to set a record.

Still no mass murders/shootings in my country till today.
2668  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Stop forcing chemotherapy on patients when there are better treatment on: June 13, 2015, 05:45:25 PM
alternatives.

"Petition:

We the people do not want to be forced to have chemotherapy. We should have the right to choose what kind of treatment we want. Chemotherapy is toxic.

We the people of America should have freedom of choice and we are tired of corporate greed blocking alternative treatments here in America.

Other countries are already using different treatments that are less toxic with great success."

Absolutely right. There are natural ways which can replace chemotherapy. I have heard that in Kerala, India, there are few people who completely cure the cancer using natural ointments and medicines. And their success results are over 90%.

It's utter bullshit!

There are charlatans who try to convince people of such thing, no real, proven case is ever demonstrated and scientific test, if it ever comes to that, will show that's fraud.

If you wanna keep safe from charlatans have this in mind, there is no natural medicine, there is no alternative medicine and there's no traditional medicine, there's only medicine.

wow, looks like another poor choice to put money on - they have a $7M IPO and only sold $14k in the last 12 days

thats 0.2% of the IPO sold.

People have been burned so much with these so called "securities" nobody even pays attention to them anymore...

Has Gavin changed his proposal to a one-time increase to 20MB or is it still an increase to 20MB with an automatic 50% increase per year?  I would support the first, and strongly oppose the second.

Check here: http://gavinandresen.ninja/bigger-blocks-another-way

He's pushing for the 20MB increase.

I have no sympathy for jihadists or anyone supporting their cause, although 15 to 30 years in prison is way too much, but I live in a place where the maximum penalty is 25 years.

Article title is a bit misleading, it's not just for simply blogging and tweeting about encryption and bitcoin, he also helped recruiting people for ISIS, plus he was specifically writing about how to use these technologies to advance their cause, technologies are amoral, what you do with them is what defines you...

Bitcoin is a great great to circumvent sanctions imposed by the international community on Russia, Paypal doesn't process russian citizens payments, Mastercard and Visa also not allowed to do so, banks ditch russian citizens, no problem, mass adopt bitcoin!

2680  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: What happen to BlockChain.info !! on: June 06, 2015, 09:32:09 PM
they are facing some internal database error, you can't access wallet balance or check blockchain tx history.it should be fixed soon

What? I just logged into my wallet and saw all my earlier transactions. It might have been a problem earlier but it's working just fine now.

Maybe it works in one country, but not another. I'm still getting this message.

We Will Be Back Shortly

Blockchain.info is currently down for maintenance

They might have different servers for different areas of the world. A few hours ago I was getting an error message and others couldn't view the site at all.

Just visited the site now and I can see the login screen but after few seconds all HTML tags reading the site is under maintenance started popping up. Looks like they are changing some features but it's taking too long.

Just check their Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/blockchain

We’ll be enabling maintenance mode intermittently while our engineers continue to investigate the DB issue. We’re working as fast as we can.
