if this doesn't reach 1000 users are you still going to have the draw?

THis is an excellent ploy to make a nice email list btw

Yes. I will have a draw regardless as it's only fair to those who entered. I am still actively promoting the site, so I will see how many entries I have in a month and make a decision from there. Either I will lower the entry amount, or I will add a time frame for entries.

Seems fair enough!

2670  Bitcoin / Mining support / [Lost] USB Block Erupter on: August 25, 2013, 11:34:05 AM
Hey guys, So it turns out I lost my USB Block Erupter last night after showing it to a friend just getting into BTC.
I swore I put it in my pack but when I woke up this morning it was no where to be found..
If anyone see's one on the ground (it was black) or has a spare one kicking around could they send it to me?

I know it's not the best miner.. But it was all I had. :/

I was thinking on the whole amount loaned..
But I am willing to accept terms from a lender if they aren't completely insane.
2672  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is it safe to refund to (one of) output address(es)? on: August 24, 2013, 06:46:21 AM
It is _never_ fine to assume this. You should get a refund address from the user.

I fully agree with this

Quote from: Guitarbits
Drug cartels are worth about a trillion. Bitcoin is worth about a billion. If there was any serious money laundering going on, the market cap would be much higher.
^ this

In reality, drug cartels have laundered more money through just one bank that we know about (HSBC) than they could possibly launder through Bitcoin with its current market cap.

So the current state of the market, will be the future state of the market?

Strange, I am mostly used to non-bitcoiners making these arguments.

2674  Economy / Lending / [FUNDED] 2.5BTC loan! on: August 23, 2013, 09:19:01 PM
Hello bitcointalk.org!

I am currently looking into developing a website that allows BTCitcoin users to pay with BTC at various popular sites. (ebay, amazon etc etc)
Unfortunately I do not posses the liquidity in BTC to even begin testing the site or afford the hosting, I feel the idea would be a "golden goose" when I get it running.

I am looking for a small loan in order to fund this projects development, pay for web hosting, hire a second coder if need be.

This project is estimated to take me about 3 months all together. Between the coding, web design and testing I'm given myself about 3 months to complete this project. This is not the only project I am currently working on. I am also in the works with the DrillBit Systems ASIC development team to get their website up and running: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266235.0

I'm open to multiple bitcointalk.org users funding this project, In fact I encourage it. If you would like to become an investor in the company once it has been developed and tested preference will be given to those who helped fund the project initially.

A small percentage will be charged for every BTC to Website payment(Ebay, Amazon etc etc) with varying fees according to purchase prices.
This will ensure the website / project makes BTC and is profitable.

Further details will be made available as the project matures, I am excited for this idea to become a reality!

I am asking for 2.5BTC or more if available. I am going to need a larger amount of BTC to cover larger purchases through the site later on. (I will be asking for investors)

The lender(s) may choose their rate of interest, And If I find it to be acceptable then we shall make the deal. I am willing to go 5%-15% roughly.
This loan will be paid back by January 1st 2014, The site will be up and running / profitable by then.

As far as collateral goes I am offering up my 1 USB ASIC Block Erupter, My payment for the development of http://DrillBitSystem.com (1-2BTC or a few DrillBit Thumb miners) as well as my DOX and current address.

If for some reason I am unable to pay back the loan through the site, I will use christmas money to purchase BTC and pay this loan back.

PM me if you are interested in this opportunity.
Thank you in advance,

MRKLYE

great idea, Iam totally interested in seeing such a design!

I shall see what I can come up with! Still trying to visualize how to draw a found block and have BTC rain from it!

And onto the website debate.

I know what you mean about shiny websites feeling untrustworthy. Especially in bitcoin land. There have been so many vaporware companies pop up with shiny websites announcing billion gigahash miners available for preorder now. Whenever i see one of these sites, i instantly think "yeah right, what a load of shit". I have written to many of them using their pretty user support forms and almost always got nothing back.

What we are doing here is not really a commercial enterprise where we want to lure people in and take their money using our shiny website. That website i set up was never really intended to be a "website" per se, but rather a place where people can go and make their orders for the group buy.

Now all that said, i have been intending on making that page slightly more attractive, and putting up some more information on their for people who stumble onto it without coming via the forum.

MRKLYE has offered to contribute some time to building the site up. To be honest it is a welcome offer as it takes one thing off my plate. I'm going to get him to have a run at it and see what he comes up with. Don't worry, we're not going to get another BFL or KNC esque site. I'll make sure it still stays true to the DIY nature of this whole thing, whilst being a bit nicer to use, clearer and more informational (if that is even a word).

Thanks MRKYLE for the offer.

 Smiley

I'm willing to help the team how I can. PM me if you'd like to get me started on this side project!
