2661  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [22000 GH] BTC Guild - PPS/PPLNS with TxFees, Stratum+Vardiff ASIC Tested on: April 04, 2013, 12:11:23 PM
As of this morning, despite being set for PPLNS all my shares are going to PPS. I've tried changing method back and forth, creating new workers. Still can't get off PPS and back to PPLNS.

Any workaround recommendations or known issue?

You need to use Stratum for PPLNS on BTC Guild.
2662  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pls rank these videocards for mining on: April 04, 2013, 11:06:55 AM
Thanks guys, I found the  GT530 on those lists but not the other 2.

That's, probably, because they won't mine.

Why does Google Chrome keep indicating an SSL error on the site? This is very awkward and suspicious since I haven't had this issue months ago.

Out of curiosity what kind of error are you getting?  It seems fine in Firefox.

Also, how can I raise performance of my 5850?

The Executive Summaries in the top post of this thread and the readme files explain how to do this.  It's really easy.

Also check out this hardware comparison chart.

Now, for Bitcoins I just add the flags "-v -w128 -f 60" and it works extremely fast even when I play BF3 and nothing shatters (If I play heavy graphics games it will go down to ~150Mha/s tops, and when I finish playing it jumps back to ~300Mah/s), the computer works flawlessly,

but for Litecoins whenever I use the flag "-I d" it goes down to 10% of it's power (from 325Kha/s to 30-20Kha/s) even when I just look at the computer!

Sounds like to me mining bitcoin achieves your goal.  So the solution would be to mine bitcoin.

If your question is "how do I mine litecoin and play games at the same time?"

I have no idea.

By the way, 300 Mhs/s is not "extremely fast" with a 5850.  That's average.

2666  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Any way to force reset and get new block to mine (with cgminer)? on: April 01, 2013, 03:18:03 AM
(mining on 5970 getting ~467 khash/s)

Are you sure your Bitcoin Mining and not Litecoin mining?

A Radeon 5970 should be getting 700+ Mega Hash's/s not 467 Kilo Hash's/s.

Compare your results with this listing of devices.

strange issue with cgminer.
Two cards one 5870 and one 5850
I have connected one monitor to the 5870
I am getting a message when starting cgminer which says that "ADL found less devices than opencl! There is possibly more than one display attached to a GPU. Use the gpu map feature to reliably map OpenCL to ADL"
Then if I take the cable and connect it to the 5850 and then to the 5870 everything works fine and I don't get the previous message.
In case I don't, I get the message above and cannot control the GPU settings.
I experimented with --gpu-map with no luck.
Any ideas?

Even though your not supposed to have to use them, I still use a dummy plug on my GPU that doesn't drive a monitor and expand my desktop to that GPU w/dummy plug.  That just makes things work much better for me.

So that may be worth a try.

Trying to mine but 5770 is just throwing hardware errors "GPU1: invalid nonce - HW error". Temps are fine. Tried adjusted clocks, nada. Works fine on LTC, 200kH.

Can anyone suggest a solution and optimal clock settings to start with?

My 5770 is set to Engine 920 and Mem 250.  I used to run it at 935 to 940 but with stratum and later versions of CG Miner I had to lower it to 920.  I'm also on catalyst 12.1.

i ask for help so i am a beggar....    i didnt ask for hand outs   a fucking loan  it what i wanted help with   not a giveaway

How did you offer to secure that loan?  An unsecured loan is, usually, a giveaway as the current housing loan debacle has shown.

and  how did this come to be all about me when i was trying to get a point across.  does no one  have  respect anymore  for others,

You made it about you by saying that only the rich can buy an Avalon and that you are not rich so you can't.  You are deciding who is rich and who isn't, which is very subjective.  We should all endeavor to stick to objective truth.

Also you are the one who has no respect for people who have invested capitol and time in developing a product and bringing it to market and then demanding that they drop their prices instead of trying to make a profit while they can.  Would you rather that they kept all of batch 3 and mined themselves?  That was one of their options and I for one am very glad they did not exercise that option.
2671  Other / Off-topic / Re: Avalon = GREED on: March 26, 2013, 01:24:51 AM
umm  lets  see   batch #1   Unit Price: $1,299   -  batch #2  Unit Price: $1,499   -  now  batch #3  75 Bitcoins  lets say at $70  ~$5000    how does the price jump that much   and not call it greed    HOW?Huh

Demand > Supply

Fuck OFF...   Im NotEven Gonna Go there  Man    Some People....

Yes, being self sufficient isn't even worth the slightest bit of though in WAY too many young peoples minds today.  The fault is really ours, parents that is, for spoiling these kids.

Ignorance of economics in the world today is just plain scary.

That guy banging his shoe on the podium was correct, to the chagrin of the once free world.

By the way it's called supply and demand.

Um, I'm not trying to discourage you from asking questions.  But maybe you should post your litecoin questions in a litecoin thread instead of bitcoin?

Just a crazy thought.
Take Care,
Sam

I did think about that, however I thought most of the answers would be the same if I put litecoin or bitcoin. Either way, I can move it if you think I should  Smiley

Judging by the litecoin questions in the CG Miner thread I would say they are radically different animals with only the name *coin in common.

Don't know if you should move it but post in the thread I posted above too, maybe.

Good luck,
Sam

Miners will not connect. I'm running cgminer 2.11.3. What do I need to change in this config file to be able to mine on stratum server?

      "url" : "stratum+tcp://eustratum.ozco.in:3333/",

I had noticed yesterday that the eustratum.ozco.in:3333 was dead,  this server is towards the bottom of my failover list so I haven't worried about it.  Try stratum.ozco.in:3333.

I think all of the server's got reordered over the weekend.
Sam

Thanks mate. I'm getting closer. Now I'm getting stratum auth failed: (null)
Should'nt credentials be the same as before?

Yes they should be the same.  Double check your worker settings.
