2661  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 5770 efficiency on: January 30, 2012, 08:35:24 PM
I think that to get 212 Mhs with a 5770 it must be already well overclocked.
One of my rigs has 2 5750@870/300 hashing at 172 mhs each, running fine 24/7 with an old 500W PSU.
I found them at 50 euros each used (one on ebay included delivery).

The day the evil gov't gets into bitcoin, I am out of it (and into the wild alt-coin west).
I wonder why the poster who like taxes and regulations got in in the first place.
2663  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is a way for indebted nations to survive! on: January 29, 2012, 06:57:57 PM
If I were a failed western gov't, I would play some taxpayer's money to manipulate the sh*t out of the bitcoin market, reaping phat profits up and down. Being not contabilized anywhere (ideally under some classified "national security" chapter of the budget), the stash could be then just distributed among the crooks involved in the black op.
But they are probably busy scheming much bigger and more evil plots with banksterz pulling more funny money/public debt out of their asses.
2664  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1366 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); supporting p2sh! on: January 29, 2012, 06:17:55 PM
Just a question: I am mining on this pool from a couple of weeks hashing at 1 Ghs 24/7 with 4 cards.
In my statistics I notice huge differences in my BTC reward between the blocks: I got between 0.01 and 0.04 BTC per block in the latest 10 rounds and I wonder why, since I doubt that hoppers can explain a so big variance, and the pool speed do not seem to change so much.
Any idea?

I tried to follow the instructions of the first post, but all I get is a black window in Sierra and this log:

2666  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to watch movies while mining on windows. on: January 25, 2012, 05:29:42 PM
Many thanks, finally I can see streaming vids again.
Yet, I still need to find a way to make Media player classic (from K-lite mega codec pack) to work instead of crashing instantly if I try to play a video while mining.

edit: Smplayer worx fine though, so: problem solved
2667  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: AOCLBF 1.82b3 by WinD - Dynamic clocks adjusting Manual fanspeed on startup on: January 24, 2012, 09:06:07 PM
I like it, but I wonder why the OSD shows an hash rate quite lower than what I get with Phoenix 1.7.x (with phatk2, same aggression).
On a 5870@970/300 I get 410-420 Mhs against 440 Mhs with Phoenix. Similar difference with a 5830 and a much smaller one with 2 5750.
Maybe it is just because hash rate does not seem to refresh frequently?

I love the product, But honestly i would not ever buy something that has the label PIMP on it...
Not everyone likes what that word means. Have you considered any alternative names?

How about Bitchcoins?

2671  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Automatically save encrypted wallets on a remote server on: January 18, 2012, 02:54:12 PM
Yes but I am not sure if official bitcoin client is even planned to be user friendly.

The biggest problem now is blockchain downloading and storing. It takes almost 3GB now and how big will it be in a year? 10G ?
And they have no plan AFAIK to fix that problem...

So I think that if official client is to be kept for advanced users and average joes should find another solution with all protections or hosted.

+1. Danloadin the friggin 1GB+ monetary base all the time seems overkill even to me. How about adding the option to use on-the-fly some online version of the blockchain (via p2p ideally, or some cloud) and/or download a shortened version, like Electrum / Multibit do?

And how about a portable version which stores the wallet and everything in the same folder of the prog instead of hiding it in the system partition? I had to hack a .bat file myself to have a so essential feature.
2672  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitscalper anyone use this ? on: January 16, 2012, 06:12:39 PM
Since when Bitcoins = cash by law in italy? So you can pay taxes in BTC?
By that logic, you should be able to pay your taxes in the US with Korean Won.

Only legal tender is cash. Legally I doubt that BTC exists at all. But I am curious to hear opposite expert views.
2673  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Undervolting a 5870 and a 5770 to achieve better MH/J performance on: January 16, 2012, 04:14:45 PM
How do you undervolt the cards? Trixx and Afterburner do not work for me (with the first the voltage is locked, and the second is not even able to read current voltage).
2674  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitscalper anyone use this ? on: January 16, 2012, 12:36:26 PM
It's totally illegal now because the parlament just approved laws that impose the use of cash up to 1000 eur, for more you have to use a bank account. So bitcoin = money laundering in italy = jail.

2675  Economy / Economics / Re: Soon illegal to use cash for purchases over 5K euro in belgium! on: January 16, 2012, 09:09:20 AM
I don't think that this direction is positive for Bitcoin. On the contrary, if Bitcoin starts to spread more, it will probably be vindicated as a "money laundering scheme", "enemy of the state" or whatever.

"Enemy of the state"? I would take that as a title of honour, even if it just the state that is the enemy of most of us. But even I expect a move to outlaw bitcoins at the moment they enter the radar screen of big brother, and I expect that such move will fail. Truecrypt and Tor are so easy to use.

Quote of the day:
“Remember, government is not an enlightened organization designed to promote public welfare. It is barbaric, uncivilized force… military and police power put to the service of the insiders who control it.

Yes, there are constraints on the way the insiders use their power. There are ‘checks and balances,’ built into the constitution, for example. And there are cultural norms and traditional prohibitions.

But eventually, the norms and traditions wear off, like painkillers. And then, the pain of raw government begins again.” – Bill Bonner
2676  Economy / Economics / Re: Soon illegal to use cash for purchases over 5K euro in belgium! on: January 15, 2012, 10:02:01 PM
Amateurs. Italy just outlawed any cash tranfer above 1000 euros.
The more they outlaw and tax, the more bullish the Bitcoin scene gets.
Talking 'bout doom-profits.
2677  Economy / Services / Re: US$ 2000 worth Frontsight gun course - PRICE HALVED on: January 15, 2012, 09:19:23 PM
These skills may save your life with what is coming.

I'm not American so I don't do guns, but I'm curious to know what's coming Cheesy

Well I like many others (Doug Casey, Bob Chapman, Jim Willie, Gerald Celente, The Mogambo Guru, The Daily Reckoning, The Daily Bell, etc.) expect an economic collapse any time from now coupled with further attempts to implement a dictatorship (of the open, hard kind -provided that you don't have it already), not only in the USA, but even in some western european countries. So if you cannot expatriate (definitely the best option), you'd better be ready.
BTW: That is one of the reasons I got interested and involved with BTCs.

2680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: January 11, 2012, 07:36:54 PM
Did you put the wallet in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Litecoin instead of C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Litecoin?

No, since I am using XP64. No Roaming folder here.
