Marking them as gift is no use, as you'll have to pay import tax even on gifts in the UK or EU after a certain amount (40 Euros as far as I know, when received as package).

And I don't see BFL undervaluing them in the customs  form, since they'd have difficulties to prove (to PayPal or Credit Card company) that they shipped indeed what you paid for. Maybe if you paid by bitcoin, but since they pulled that now I guess that would only be an option for a few lucky ones who ordered in the past.

Also, customs are not that stupid. If the parcel comes from Butterfly labs they'll Google that and come up with the real price of the item.

Unless BFL doesn't give a sh*t, then they'd send the parcel from a private address with a private name and say here's your 'magic electronics' you forgot at my place during our new year engineering session at my house. But I doubt customs would fall for that. Maybe they could pretend it being an RMA, but customs may ask you for proof that you actually sent something to them and that you paid tax when you originally bought the item.

Either way, you are screwed if you live in Europe ;-)

So what kind of fees am I looking at paying to Royal Mail for delivery on my £450 purchase?

Is this distro easy to use for a 'BitForce SHA256 Single' set up, also can it easily merge mine BTC, NMC and LTC on P2Pool, plus can I use the Ubuntu 'Startup Disk Creator' to put it on USB?  Thanks.
2663  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Rig Box on: February 25, 2012, 12:44:16 AM
Just ordered one today with PayPal how long is UK delivery?  Emailed them this morning and they haven't got back yet?

PLEASE let us know when they arrive and how much you are taxed, VAT, import duty, shipping etc.

Eg all in all how much does a single unit cost fully in GBP to my door with all the extra $$$ included etc.

I bet they won't be marking them as "gifts" Roll Eyes

Thanks !

My PayPal payment came to £449.15

Does anyone know how difficult/easy these are to set up to do merged mining on P2Pool?

It shouldn't be any different.

The miner hardware (actual CPU/GPU/FPGA) simply gets a binary blob of data combines it with a nonce that it increments, hashes it and looks for nonces "small" enough". It has really no concept of what it is doing.

It is the mining software which sets up those "work units" and returns proofs of work.
It is the pool (p2pool daemon for p2pool) which ensures the blockheaders work for both chains.

Does anyone know where I should look for info on setting one up using Ubuntu.  Only ever set up a CPU miner before on Ubuntu which wasn't very difficult thanks to simple instructions.
The P2Pool thread?

This thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=62842.0 - looks better for setting up P2Pool to merge mine on Ubuntu but there is no instructions on setting the BFL's up on cgminer using Ubuntu.

I'm not sure but I've heard people saying they have reached over 855MH/s@80W and up to 888MH/s@80W if they are kept cool enough to stop automatic throttling of the BFL's.  I live in the north of England so to much heat should not be a problem.  This first unit has been ordered the rest of the funds raised from the IPO will be used to purchase the second and the units own dedicated low power PC finally.  If exchange rates do us well any surplus will be saved for the third unit also once the IPO has finished a vote will be held on whether to save all profits to purchase a third BFL 832MH/s@80W increasing our profits by 50%.  If the vote goes in favour of saving for the third purchase then it would take us around four months of mining on two units to save up enough to buy a third BFL at today's exchange rates.

I deposited 159.6BTC from GLBSE to Intersango and sold for 148.1BTC at £3.05 to purchase the first BFL 832MH/s@80W.  We had 11.5BTC left over plus we have sold more shares meaning we have 27.90BTC in total towards the second unit.  At the current exchange rate we need another 115BTC to buy the second BFL 832MH/s@80W.  So we need to sell another 288 shares at 0.4BTC each to make the second purchase get investing in what promises to be the highest returning profit ratio company listed on the GLBSE.

That is just a rough estimate at how long it would take for the weekly dividends to have paid out more than the cost of the share.  Very good returns on an investment.  Also a vote may be held once both 'BFL' have been purchased on saving all profits up to buy the third 'BFL' which would increase profits by 50%.  It would take us roughly four months of mining on two units to save up enough profits to buy the third unit.

The first 'BitForce SHA256 Single' - http://www.butterflylabs.com/product-details/ - 832MH/s@80W has been paid for and ordered although delivery may take up to four to six weeks unfortunately but we can start mining as soon as its delivered and paying dividends maybe as soon as only eight days later.  Once the IPO has raised enough the second 'BitForce SHA256 Single' can be ordered and finally the company's dedicated low power PC to run the two units and any additional units the company purchases.  Thank you to everyone who has invested so far and made the first purchase possible.  I'm predicting this first unit to generate over 18BTC a month

OK what's your MH/s per BTC invested?  I was just saying I'm offering 4.56MH/s per BTC invested at absolute minimal electricity costs with the chance to improve on that within four month by 50%!  Why are you getting hot under the collar?  Maybe for being expensive?

At this point you are simply trolling. Two people have respectfully asked you to cease and desist, and you have both not done that and blatantly insulted Glasswalker and myself. Post reported.

Your trolling about trolling!  I'm not even bothered if you got me kicked for enlightening your readers as I've all ready ordered my first unit and will finish the IPO by buying all the shares myself if I have to once I've got all the funds!

Also this is a PUBLIC forum not your private business!  If these con-artists manage to get me kicked RSM share holders can find me on the blog or at the CoinConnect group!

...Only helping potential investors in finding the best profits available on the GLBSE...
...I've posted before and Glasswalker wished me luck....

Yes I did wish you luck. I sincerely hope for the success of new business ventures with bitcoin. However your posting here in blatent advertising of your own venture is actually inappropriate, and disrespectful. The Syndicate is paying for advertising to lead people to this thread. And the subject clearly says it's about the Bitcoin Syndicate. People will come here expecting to read about the syndicate. I did offer some basic comparisons of the available competition at the time because it was asked for, beyond that, it's disrespectful to come in here advertising your organization.

This is basically the digital equivalent of an employee from Tony's Pizzeria going a couple blocks down the road with a big sign that says "Tony's Pizzeria charges $1 less than this guy for pizza" And picketing it right outside the entrance to Joe's Pizzeria. It's impolite, and disrespectful.

If you want to educate the masses and convince them that yours is a superior investment, I suggest you post the facts in your thread, and provide abundant and clear information. And let them make their own decision.

Perhaps you were unaware that this was poor etiquette, but I'm now respectfully asking you to please refrain from blatant advertising of your investment in our thread. If you have something legitimate which is about The Bitcoin Syndicate to add, please feel free to do so, or if you find that information posted here is incorrect, feel free to offer corrections. But do not come in here specifically to try and derail the interest we've gathered in this thread, and the advertising that our shareholders have paid for.

Whats your problem feel bitter at choosing the wrong investment vehicle
No need for this to degrade into flaming and attacking other members of the forum. I think we're being extremely professional and polite, and respectfully requesting that you stop advertising here.

If you're concerned about public opinion of your goals and ventures, I suggest you think carefully before demonstrating behavior that could be considered of questionable ethics on the public forums. It will go a long way to helping improve peoples opinion of you, and their faith in this and future investment opportunities you might present.

Thanks!

That would be exactly the point of a comparison thread. If you want to advertise what you believe to be better numbers, that would be a great place to put it.

OK dude but I want to finish on that within four months I'll have my third 'bfl single' and 4.56MegaHash/s per BTC invested or the 1.664GH/s for £20 of electricity a month will soon be growing by 50%.  The first one is already being ordered Grin

Sorry to jump in your thread but RSM is offering 4.56MegaHash/s per BTC invested.  1.664GH/s for £20 of electricity a month.

A competitor's IPO thread is not the place to advertise your own company, regardless of the price.

My reply was serious. If this was a comparison thread, advertising would be welcome, but it is not. If you have a valid reason, please enlighten me.

After both 'BitForce SHA256 Single' and the low power PC have been purchased and we are producing 37BTC a month for the 1000 shares issued a CEO salary of 1% of profits or 1BTC a month which ever is greater will be paid to the CEO for arrangement of paying electricity costs and running the business as a whole.  After we are making more than 100BTC a month profits for the 1000 shares issued this may change.
