2661  Other / Meta / Re: Question about ban messages. on: September 28, 2021, 11:58:34 AM
I'm pretty sure there's only one message you get when you get permanently banned, which is the one you quoted.  It should do the trick, since there are really only two reasons why a member would get permabanned: spamming and plagiarism.  Ban evasion is a third, but I'm not sure whether there should be a separate message for that or not, since anyone receiving the standard message when they're using an alt of a banned account should know what they did.

2) If not why not? I figure it would cut down on a bunch of BS issues of people asking / complaining about their ban.
Why not?  It seems like I'm writing this a lot lately: Theymos just isn't adding new features/improvements to the forum lately.  As far as members asking why they got banned, I think that's a load of crap.  99% of the time they really know why, but they play the babe-in-the-woods card in their ban appeal threads more often than not.  If they didn't start off those threads pretending to wonder why in the world they got that ban message, the rest of their post wouldn't contain much of an argument for their reinstatement.

So yeah, it'd be ideal if there were different messages for each ban reason, but realistically I don't think that's going to happen.
2662  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Ranking-up pipeline- Those close to their next rank (lacking Merits) on: September 28, 2021, 11:26:07 AM
Man, aren't you too kind to me? Of course, seeing 50 merit was pretty nice, but it seems to me in the above posted post there are those who are more obsessed with merit than me.
You deserved those 50 merits, whereas other members on the list you were in didn't deserve as many IMO.  In fact, I think you've been pretty under-merited overall, because when I reviewed your post history I saw a lot of good posts that hadn't earned any merits at all--and I don't know if I never saw them or what, but that's why I make the offer of post history reviews!

Although I think I know what your plan was ... you make it so that others would distribute the merits in your place.  Grin
I'm not completely sure if you're kidding, but that's definitely not my aim.  I do hope you pay the sMerits forward, but that would be an awful tactic for a merit source to take, since 1 sent merit-->1/2 sMerit, and it'd be a waste.  Anyway, like I said in my PM, get back to me in a month and I'll do another post history review.

Sir, it's more than month your vehicle rode in my post history. I will clear the road, even if nothing worthy is there, atleast it should ride first.
Are you using a language translator or just writing purple prose with a traveling metaphor?  Either way, I haven't reviewed your posts because you haven't sent me a PM.  I don't do it automatically for people because I get quite a few requests these days and lose track easily.  So send me a PM; that way I know the date you requested the post review and can tell if you're requesting another one early come the next month.

Bear in mind that appearing on lists may not always be for a positive cause for the accounts that appear on the list. Some lists are better to stay away from…
Yeah, seriously.  Sometimes these lists have members who make posts of a very standard, specific length, and it's a dead giveaway that they're just signature/bounty shitposters.  And sometimes most posts are made in local boards.  Anyway, I'm still glad this thread exists.
2663  Economy / Reputation / Re: [a new mile]Congratulatory massage on my new MEMBER RANK on: September 27, 2021, 09:35:29 PM
My experience so far in the forum was 'HECTIC',at a point, the forum became very demanding and i almost gave up!
Why would a discussion forum that you joined voluntarily be so hectic that you felt the need to capitalize all the letters in that word?  Why would you be trying so hard to do whatever it is that you felt so much stress from?  Makes me wonder.

it developed some kind of INFERIORITY COMPLEX in me
I suspect that complex existed well before you ever heard of bitcointalk, though I'm not a psychiatrist or a psychologist.  Not that I'd need to be one to make that statement, since those are both semi-scientific disciplines still in the stone age anyway.

Also: you registered here exactly 9 weeks ago.  Why are you creating a thread giving shout-outs to all the wonderful members who've helped you out and basically, well, fishing for merit if I may put it bluntly?  As lovesmayfamilis has pointed out, you're lucky you're not banned for plagiarism.  Perhaps staying well under the radar would be your best course of action.

Either these rank up people are really very happy on getting this achievement and express their gratitude.  However mostly such posts are made to get some merits. Unluckily, OP does not got any on this post till this time.
Exactly.  And I'm sure as hell not giving him any merits.

2664  Other / Meta / Re: Integration of Mentions may make user experience looks simpler and easier on: September 27, 2021, 05:00:56 PM
From what I've seen, I don't expect the forum to implement this. If it can be handled by a user application, Admin doesn't need to spend time on it.
No, I'd bet the house this wouldn't be implemented.  And I'm not disparaging those applications created by members at all, but they seem to be like 3rd party aftermarket add-ons which are necessary only because there's so little development on this forum.  As far as the administrator not spending time on things like this, I'm left wondering if there's any time spent at all improving bitcointalk in its current state.

I've got the New Forum Discussion section on ignore, so I'm not sure what's happening on that front, but with all the resources Theymos has at his disposal and all the requests for simple forum features, I don't understand why he continues to do nothing except maintain his stony silence.  I'm pretty sure the members who've created the 3rd party applications are excellent coders and probably would have helped Theymos make those features an integral part of the forum instead of being things users have to implement themselves.  Am I way off base here or what?
2665  Other / Meta / Re: New feature suggestion: List all sale threads of members at one place on: September 27, 2021, 04:05:22 PM
You can view all topics made by a user on one page: https://bitcointalk.org/gettopics.php?user=459836.
You beat me to it; that's the first thing that came to mind when I read OP's suggestion.  The only problem is that a member might not have only selling threads, so you might have to do some extra browsing to search through them.

But I don't know if this is a feature that would be of great importance anyway, especially since it's the first time I've heard anything like it suggested.  Even if it isn't super important, sure, why not create the feature?  Answer: It isn't a community decision, and Theymos ignores some really good suggestions (like having a mobile-friendly version of the forum), so the likelihood of this happening is infinitesimal.

That's the reality, OP.
2666  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Ranking-up pipeline- Those close to their next rank (lacking Merits) on: September 27, 2021, 09:27:27 AM
Data as of 24/09/2021
Damn, I couldn't do much with this update.  I un-ignored a few sections and still couldn't see the posts of some of these members, and most of the rest of them didn't make any decent posts.  Oh well, it was a dud this week.  I'm trying to get rid of a ton of merits this week, so if anyone wants to take me up on my standing offer of a post history review, just PM me.

I think I missed last week's list, so I think I'm going to check out those members' posts.  Thanks again, DdmrDdmr!
2667  Economy / Economics / Re: A genius or an idiot? on: September 27, 2021, 09:13:10 AM
OP, if the market can make you feel like an idiot or a genius, I'd suggest you think you have more control over it than you think.  Unless you're someone like Warren Buffet--who is a genius--you're just lucky or unlucky, especially if you're talking about crypto markets, where there's no fundamental analysis to do (no matter what anyone tells you) and nothing but news, rumors, and TA to work with.

Therefore, if my paltry crypto holdings suddenly spike I don't start thinking I'm a wise investor who's smarter than anyone else.  Conversely if they tank I don't call myself stupid for having the positions I have.  My advice: don't make trading/investing a personal thing; stay right-sized; and realize that the market does whatever it wants, and any gains or losses you make are due to chance.
2668  Economy / Reputation / Re: Scammer parading in my dm on: September 27, 2021, 08:41:00 AM
So of course I get a PM by Rockstarguy basically asking the following:

What are you insinuating?? I did wrong by alarming
No, you didn't do anything against the rules or morally wrong, but there's no need to create a separate thread for this issue when it all boils down to someone sending you a PM in which he looks to be bragging about how much he made using a "trading professional" after you created a thread in Trading Discussion about taking out loans.

I made a comment about how that thread in T.D. was crap, because it was.  I'd invite anyone who hasn't seen it yet to click on the link you provided and see for themself.  But the main point I tried to convey was that you should have reported the PM or just put that guy's PMs on ignore rather than make a thread about a nonissue.  I think you're trying to earn merits, honestly.

The PM to me was also not necessary.
2669  Economy / Reputation / Re: Scammer parading in my dm on: September 27, 2021, 01:44:51 AM
So you created a garbage thread in which you wrote a very bland, repetitive anecdote about some friend who used leverage and you got a PM from a random member afterward....what do you want the community to do about it?  If you're so offended by the PM, just report it to the mods as spam and they'll take care of it.

Alternatively, you can block that member from ever sending you another PM.  Easy solutions that don't require a thread in Meta.
2670  Economy / Reputation / Re: iv4n: Looking for feedback - should the negative tag remain? on: September 27, 2021, 12:03:30 AM
Moving forward on this forum with this red tag is unacceptable for me, I will not be able to feel comfortable writing anything if someone marked me as an "idiotic opinion person who begs for money around, a parasite that is shilling for $30!"
That sounds like a you problem more so than a me problem, if you know what I mean.  And unless JollyGood chooses to remove that feedback, you don't have a choice in the matter.

And you offended me "The Pharmacist"! As Jolly did! And as I said, it's not even about that post anymore... it's about you tagging me for something imaginable in my mind!
You're responsible for your own feelings, dude.  I spoke my mind honestly, and your reaction to it is none of my concern, as you're a crap shitposter who was already on my ignore list.  Also, I didn't tag you.  I don't think you know the definition of that word in the context of the trust system, so it'd be best if you learned it.

I live in Serbia... 2 wars in my life, bombs, and hyperinflation, drug wars, and whatever we have now in this "to the bones corrupted country"... you will tell me that life is not fair!?
Did you fight those wars?  Did you get bombed?  How were you affected by hyperinflation?  Did you get caught up in drug wars?  Those are false arguments unless you were affected by them personally--and don't even bother answering those questions, because I don't know you and wouldn't trust anything you had to say anyway.

And yes, I'm telling you that life isn't fair because:

This is not fair and I can't accept it!

Bitching about negative feedback on an internet forum being unfair clearly indicates that you're not at all familiar with real unfairness.
2671  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Will the exchange cancel all Chinese users? on: September 26, 2021, 10:24:47 PM
Wow it's good news, China always create FUDs about Bitcoin that's not good for Bitcoin space. There's a chance Binance and Okcoin will do same since both of them founded in China even the headquarters isn't in China anymore.
Eh?  Don't understand what you're getting at with the bolded part of your post above.  I'm not sure about Okcoin, since I know nothing about them, but Binance operates globally so I don't think they're in danger of going out of business.  As mentioned in a previous post, they can just restrict users who live in countries/areas where trading crypto is banned.  I'm in the US and can't use Binance since my state is on their restricted list, just FYI.

One thing about Chinese citizens is this.... "They know how to circumvent restrictions from their government" ..... and they are clever enough to get away with it. ( I know several Chinese people that are working in my country and they are very clever )  Wink
That's good to know, and I hope the penalties for circumventing the laws aren't severe in the case that any of them are prosecuted.  I haven't heard anything said about that yet, and I'm curious as to what would happen to Chinese citizens who continued to trade cryptocurrencies (assuming they found a way to do so).
2672  Economy / Reputation / Re: iv4n: Looking for feedback - should the negative tag remain? on: September 26, 2021, 08:51:17 PM
That's why one bad feedback usually doesn't make others exclude a user, but it will happen if it gets out of hand. And that's why it's especially important to leave accurate feedback.
With JollyGood, I think it's already gotten out of hand at this point.  I would suggest that anyone who has him on their trust list review his sent feedback and question whether there are enough wrongly-left ones to justify an exclusion.  In my case, there are just too many, and that was before his tagging of RapTarX and Little Mouse.

This is not fair and I can't accept it! I simply can't move forward here with this negative mark under my name! And I can't believe that some people don't see what is happening here...
The consensus on the forum is that 1xbit is a complete scam, and I agree with that.  And while I don't tag members who participate in campaigns/bounties that advertise scam services, I have no problem with members who do.  It's harsh, but I do believe that there was discussion before the tagging started and warnings given out (though I'm not sure about the latter).  Members who continued to advertise for 1xbit after all of that deserve what they get IMO.

And as far as your statement about not being able to "move forward" on the forum: grow up.  Moving forward most likely means joining whatever campaign or bounty that'll accept you, and I doubt you're going to get much sympathy for that sort of plight.  Also, life isn't fair.  Get used to it.
2673  Economy / Reputation / Re: RapTarX & Little Mouse : The same person on: September 26, 2021, 05:05:58 PM
So,what do you think about this? if this proof is invalid i will delete it.
You don't have to consider it proof; it's evidence if nothing else and shouldn't be deleted, since this situation is still ongoing.  Those two applications you posted are from different campaigns, so it isn't evidence that any cheating was done, but it is more evidence that the two accounts are connected (though I have no idea whether they're alt accounts).

As for the etherscan link: I don't understand much of that shitcoin, it looks like they both send some Eth to the same address half a year apart.
I guess that's the long and short of it.  I'd be interested to hear what Little Mouse and RapTarX have to say about this, other than RapTarX stating he doesn't know where the transaction came from.
2674  Other / Meta / Re: What is the main reason you don't come to this website more often? on: September 26, 2021, 04:16:11 PM
For me, it's the lack of mobile view.
Do you have a PC or a laptop (or at least access to one that's secure)?  Most people do, and I don't think many members have reduced their forum time because of a lack of a mobile-friendly version of the site.  But I totally agree with you that Theymos really should create one, and it's truly baffling that he hasn't.

As far as the question being asked in the title, it doesn't apply to me since I visit bitcointalk just as frequently now as I did when I registered years ago--and thinking about that, it's crazy.  There aren't many websites that I visit as much as this forum, and when I'm on my PC there's always a tab open for the forum, which I'm constantly checking for new and interesting threads.

I used to visit the forum on my smartphone, by the way.  I didn't find the resizing and scrolling to be all that bad.  It was the typing with my fingers or stylus that drove me mad.  My phone's keyboard just wasn't big enough for my fat sausage thumbs, and having to type one tedious letter at a time instead of using a real keyboard with my decent typing skills was a turnoff.
2675  Economy / Reputation / Re: Little Mouse and RapTarX - What is this connection? on: September 26, 2021, 03:02:05 PM
I'll add one more argument for JollyGood: tags like these reduce the overall quality of your Sent feedback, which leads to less support for your DT-position, which means that all the good you're doing might at some point be wasted.
Absolutely agree, but I think JollyGood is past the point where he should be on DT, given how many wrongly-given feedbacks he's handed out.  Again, that's why I excluded him from my trust list.  I think he's abusing his power as a DT member--for what reason, I have no idea, but it doesn't matter.

I also think Little Mouse should chime in here, whether he wants to explain his side of the story or not.  He's involved in this drama and got a neg from JollyGood, so I'm not sure why he wouldn't do that.
2676  Economy / Economics / Re: A poll in the USA to accept crypto as a legal payment on: September 26, 2021, 01:02:44 PM
Does this lead the USA, as a giant country, to become crypto-friendly in the next year?
No, not at all.  This was just a poll, and while the numbers are probably higher than they would have been about 5 years ago, they're still quite low.  And again, this wasn't the government expressing interest in accepting bitcoin for things like taxes and other government-related payments; it was a Newsweek poll, which carries no weight in the eyes of the US government.

The US is already crypto-friendly.  Maybe not as far as the government is concerned, but its citizens sure have a lot of interest in it and there are many US businesses that already accept bitcoin.  That's as good as it's going to get for now.

And personally, I wouldn't want to pay my taxes with bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency.  That would give them a full view of my crypto transactions, and the government already has too much surveillance going on.  I would have voted against this had I been polled.
2677  Economy / Reputation / Re: Little Mouse and RapTarX - What is this connection? on: September 26, 2021, 12:51:27 PM
What is still very disappointing, is that Little Mouse doesn't dare to owe up to what he did in public.
I'm not going to ask you to explain what Little Mouse said in his PM, but are you implying that whatever he did that led him to quote a post from RapTarX would be so embarrassing to him that he wouldn't share it here in order to clear things up?  Does what he wrote sound believable?

@JollyGood: since there is absolutely no evidence of any wrongdoing by RapTarX, please consider removing the negative feedback you gave him. What Little Mouse quoted could have happened to anyone.
I second that request to JollyGood without even knowing what the PM said.  There's no reason to neg someone for frivolous reasons, and both Little Mouse and RapTarX have been solid, productive members of the forum as far as I can tell.  They don't need an unwarranted neg on their profiles.
2678  Economy / Reputation / Re: Little Mouse and RapTarX - What is this connection? on: September 26, 2021, 01:45:05 AM
@Little Mouse: you haven't responded in this topic. Can you tell me what's your story behind this post?
That's definitely weird and I'd sure like to hear an explanation for that--if it's a goof-up, I don't know how it was made.

Today, JollyGood left this feedback:
<snip image>
Considering I just bumped this topic after 15 months, this looks like retaliation, which I don't consider correct use of the Trust system. I haven't seen any hard evidence of any of the accounts involved participating in the same signature campaign.
I don't agree with JollyGood's feedback on these accounts at all.  There's no need to leave a negative if alt accounts haven't been participating in the same campaign, and it looks like Little Mouse and RapTarX were in/applying for different ones.  This is the reason I excluded JollyGood from my trust list; he has a very bad habit of leaving overly harsh feedback (to put it mildly).

People on DT, after the Talibans, are the most powerful and dangerous people on the planet right now; people's reputations are being ruined for not stealing or scamming, but for having an alt account, isn't that insane?
That's just a wee bit of an exaggeration, don't you think?  After all, we're talking about a single member (JollyGood) leaving negative trust on 3 accounts suspected of being alts in this case.  Comparing DT members as a group to the Taliban is just straight-up wrong.

I believe the forum owner stated that you are allowed to have many accounts as long as you are not stealing or harming others.
You don't have to believe it.  Just read LoyceV's last post in this thread where he quoted Theymos saying exactly that:

For what it's worth: theymos agrees with hiding your identity:
I don't have a problem with alt accounts as long as they're not used for evading bans. If you're hesitant to say something controversial because you don't want it to be associated with your name, please create an alt account and say it.
2679  Economy / Exchanges / Re: instant exchange to avoid BTC 50k satoshi Binance sending fees on: September 26, 2021, 12:44:44 AM
Changenow's reputation site is not good at this forum, some users get a bad experience.
I've read a few of the complaints about them, but I've used them to exchange small amounts of obscure altcoins in the past and have had no problems--but that's just my experience and has to be weighed against everyone else's.

OP, I don't know if there's a list of instant exchanges on the forum, but you could check out the ones listed on Ravencoin's website under the Buy Ravencoin section, because there are quite a few listed.  ChangeNow is among them, but there are others such as Changelly which is one of the best known ones.  Changeangel is another one that I've used before with no issues.

Good luck.  These exchanges are nice, as they don't require KYC.  I don't know how long that's going to last, so take advantage of them while they're still around.
2680  Other / Meta / Re: Scambaiter Childboard?? on: September 25, 2021, 05:36:19 PM
No.  Theymos is barely inclined to make simple improvements to the forum to make basic functionalities easier to use, so there's no way in hell he's going to create a subsection dedicated to something like what you're talking about.  Not only would it not be popular, but it'd probably draw more scammers to the forum than there already are (and there are plenty).

If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time making these suggestions.  I don't think you've yet gotten a feel for how slowly changes are implemented on bitcointalk, so my advice to you is to just sit back and observe.
