the quote below has optiminer code

i was doing -i5 with autoselect

I added -i 4  I am now getting all 8 gpus working on under volt 3  2314 hash for zec.

I will monitor my gpu number 6 seems to always be the troubled gpu.

been this way for weeks.

taken from "Optiminer -h":
Code:
USAGE:

   Optiminer.exe  [--pci-mode <0-3>] [--benchmark <seconds>]
                  [--list-devices] [--force-generic-kernel]
                  [--experimental-kernel] [--nodevfee] [-i <number>] ...
                  [-m <port>] [--watchdog-cmd <command>]
                  [--watchdog-timeout <seconds>] [--max-log-files <count>]
                  [--max-log-file-size <bytes>] [-l <filename>] [-v] [-p
                  <string>] [-u <string>] [-s <host:port>] [-d <integer>]
                  ...  [-c <integer>] [--] [--version] [-h]

Where:

   --pci-mode <0-3>
Communicate mode between host and GPU. Valid values are 0-3.

   --benchmark <seconds>
If specified runs a benchmark for the given number of seconds on all
specified devices and then exists the miner.

   --list-devices
List all recognized devices with their platform and device id and
     quit.

   --force-generic-kernel
Force use of generic kernel even when a device-specific kernel is
     available

   --experimental-kernel
Unlock faster experimental kernel for certain graphic cards.

   --nodevfee
If set, the dev fee will be disabled. Miner will run a bit slower.
Enable this if you do not want any more improvements of the miner and
     want to earn less.

   -i <number>,  --intensity <number>  (accepted multiple times)
Worker intensity. 0 means auto-detect based on available memory.
Higher values use more GPU memory. Can be specified once applying the
same intensity to all devices or once per device (same order as -d).

   -m <port>,  --monitoring-port <port>
The monitoring port to listen on for HTTP requests. Disabled by
default. If enabled, accepts requests from everywhere.

   --watchdog-cmd <command>
The watchdog command to execute. See --watchdog-timeout.

   --watchdog-timeout <seconds>
Timeout after which the watchdog triggers if a GPU does not produce
any solutions. It will execute the command specified by
--watchdog-cmd. You can use this command to do an appropriate action
(e.g. reset driver or reboot). 0 disables watchdog.

   --max-log-files <count>
Maximum number of rotated log files to keep.

   --max-log-file-size <bytes>
Maximum size of log file before it gets rotated.

   -l <filename>,  --log-file <filename>
     Write logs to given file

   -v,  --verbose
     Verbose logging.

   -p <string>,  --password <string>
     Stratum password.

   -u <string>,  --user <string>
     Stratum user.

   -s <host:port>,  --stratum <host:port>
Host and port of the stratum server to use.

   -d <integer>,  --device <integer>  (accepted multiple times)
A OpenCL device id to use. If no devices are specified, all are used.

   -c <integer>,  --platform <integer>
The OpenCL platform id to use.

   --,  --ignore_rest
Ignores the rest of the labeled arguments following this flag.

   --version
     Displays version information and exits.

   -h,  --help
     Displays usage information and exits.

Nice results with smOS

I get very good numbers
dual mining

I dont know what sorcery code Tytanick got from Wolf but I am at undervolt "2" (1100/2125/2) with already modded low power rom (wow!)

ZEC mining 6 x 480s at 1140watts @ 4.554 amps @ 1668 sols/s with Optiminer v1.7 <--- can anyone confirm is this is good or no good?

I was expecting an even lower amps with undervolt =2

Meanwhile on Eliovp's custom Panda rom mod (with smOS, no undervolt ie. 7)

ZEC mining 8 x 480mx at 1025watts @ 4.525 amps @ 2233 sols/s with Optiminer v1.7

I have stock pandaminer  on 1 from smOS  looks to me that i do only 7 gpus 2005 sols.

gpu 6  gives me trouble at 1 it shuts down. note gpu 6 has been having issues for a few weeks.

 my amps are 3.9 x 240 = 936 (will double check this)
26703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: March 13, 2017, 02:22:02 PM
Just to be completely clear here.

Before others start to fly and think they can undervolt..

0 - 7 are the DPM stages for the core clock.

You don't undervolt, you just set your core differently on a specific dpm stage.

As an example.

Open up polarisbioseditor, you'll see that there are 8 stages for the core clock. 0 -> 7

As you can see here, on the left you have the preset core clock settings and on the right you have the voltage settings.
300Mh being the only one with a preset voltage offset.
The other 7 will be auto calculated by the GPU. (By adding Global VDDC Offset in the rom, this can be manipulated).

What happens here isn't really "Undervolting", the only thing that does happen is that driverwise the core clock of a specific dpm stage is being modified, therfore the voltage remains the same as it was previously on that specific dpm stage.

So you are basically forcing a specific core clock to run on a specific voltage.

It's like this example:

Which is

1. Definitely not stable in most cases as it's not being autocalculated anymore.
2. Not how it "should" be.

It's a way, i'm pretty sure it'll work okish, but i'm also very sure, if you start messing around to much, your gpu's will fail.

That's the difference between forcing voltage or adding a global vddc offset in the rom where the voltage controller starts calculating from a lower voltage offset.

Just to be very clear here, it is "not" possible to really "undervolt". This can only be achieved in the rom itself.

Oh and for the Fans, or better, the haters, i'm not bashing anything here, i'm just writing down facts.

Greetings!

Okay I buy your explanation  and here are my stock no  bios flash cards set to 1

most people do not have my setup.  but my setup  is ideal for dual mining and using his new power setting.

check the boots  I am stable for 2 hours
26704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bad time to buy mining rigs? on: March 13, 2017, 01:19:39 PM
If we consider the cost of electricity in many countries, it is best now not make new rigs. But in some countries, there are low-cost electricity. If you have free electricity, it changes everything.

I'd say anything below 0,10$/kW is still worth it.
You can always build 4-5 GPU rigs with cheaper PSU's and eventualy mine monero for low power usage.
Anyway, i'm still buying GPU's, i think there will always be something to mine, even in a few months when ETH ends and ZEC dissapears into oblivion  Tongue

There will always be something to mine.

Besides my RX series, I'm still runing R9's and 79x0 series on ZEC, they don't bring much profit, but still are far from over.

The difficulty that would drop onto everything else after ETH turns PoS and ZEC gets flushed would do more than double the hash rate for everything else. You can't look at the current profitability of XMR or any coin.

If your R9 and 79x0 cards are little profit now, they likely wont be profitable to run soon.

not true, i think there would be a massive sell off of many mining rig, if the diff triple on everything there will be no more profit for everyone, only peanuts for those that have lower than 5 cent electricity

If the ETH goes to PoS, then the difficulty for other coins will rise. That is the reason I am not expanding.

ETH is planned to go PoS

ZEC is just a glorified pump and dump coin. The hike back in value is a blessing for me to get more earnings prior to the BTC ETF but besides that it is a coin waiting to die

It will be grim in due time if 2 of the 3 biggest mining coins go down

I completely disagree with this.

ZEC is a rebate/commercial supported by

INTEL
AMD
NVIDIA
ASUS
ASROCK
BIOSTAR
EVGA
GIGABYTE
MSI
SAPPHIRE
POWERCOLOR
CORSAIR
SEASONIC
ANTEC
GEIL
MUSHKIN

AND MANY OTHER COMPANIES

simple economics  any of the companies above simply buy some coin to prop up its price.

this encourages miners to buy gear.

why is ZEC  the best coin for this at the moment?

market cap is small so it is easy to support the  price.

FUCK ME, i did undervolt that accually works Cheesy
And there was no such tool for undervolting only way was to make offset in custom bios and flash it.
This my idea is accually working loooool Cheesy

yes you did.

It really works well if you have a setup like mine.

Stock bios
four card rigs with 2 cards
no risers
and i5 cpus.

So who would think that  a biostar z170 board with an i5 6500t cpu and an evga p2 750 watt psu and only 2 rx 480 8gb cards is a good setup for mining?

Turns out to be really good for dual mining.. really good.

I will toss some more coin at you on Monday the 20th.
26708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: March 13, 2017, 12:31:11 PM

This is why I will pay for this smOS  ------- No bios flash needed. ---------  the stock bios allows strong settings for ETH+DECRED

I ran stable overnight  with stock memory slight down clock of core and 2 undervolt    power dropped from 17 amps to 16 amps

now testing under volt of 1 power dropped from 16 amps to 15 amps.

26709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: March 13, 2017, 10:53:30 AM
Good no worries.

And yeah spending time and feeling like
It was wasted would piss me off.

So I spent about an hour fixing my rigs and when you asked for a roll back I got a bit cranky.

I am liking the smOS more every day.

Why wouldn't you :p It's completely free..
a quote from someone else: "Albeit at someone elses mercy".

The funny thing someone just brought up to my attention.

The overclock part for RX cards is almost identical to what EthOS offers, what ethOS offers is custom code written by Sling00 to control amdgpu-pro.
Also, i noticed wolfamdctrl being in that code, also something that has been a part of EthOS, it "could" be that Tytanic bought Wolfamdctrl as well but i doubt it, why invest in something you will offer for free?..
Same goes for Atiflash, another thing that's not something you can find "so easily" on the net..

My point being, if you "use" stuff from other distro's, the least you can do is give credit to those who wrote the code in the first place.
Yeah, i know no one gives a shit, as long as you can use it for free .. Smiley

Greetings!

I paid him  0.031211 so far and plan to continue paying him.  Even if I am the only person paying.

And. We have a problem many of us don't do bios.  And this works great.

So I say leave it.

And stop flashing your bios

Are you kidding me phillip? All our farms have custom bios for our RX 480s. More mhs, less power and less heat. Oh but oh yeah dont use this guys.. ?!

And again, without this tool its perfectly stable, we need some thing of path where that tool will not do anything unless touched by the web management or something like that.

So you paid and installed custom bios .

And you saved lots of money.

So roll back the bios set the under volt and see what is better.

This saves me 1 amp I use 16 vs 17 so it is a savings for me.

I should care that the bios you paid for which by your own admission saved you money
Stopped working.

All my pcs crashed.
Yeah I have 11pcs you may have 100.

So I tweaked I am stable .

Tweak your gear and make it stable again.

You want the farm to care for itself ?  They sometimes need an overhaul.

Figure out what you need to do.

How about setting volts to 5 since you are saving the power already.

Mine work at 2 .  My other post was a little harsh but we both made choices about bios flashing.

So now my choice is paying off and you want it to end for me.

I simply ask how long did your choice make extra money for you?

Months weeks days.  Or a few years?

So far I have four hours that I am better off.

About 1 kilo watt.  Or 10 cents.

I gave 38 usd to smOS so at 60 cents a day it would take 70 days of under volt for me to break even.

I ask again did you roi on the custom bios ?

I'd like some advise.

When all you big miners were little and say had a 750W PSU what second PSU unit would you suggest to buy for a complete future 6 RX 480 cards ETH mining?

So far I see ~850W Gold or Platinum with 4 PCI-e 8 pins as candidates. Thx

I would do a smaller build  with the 750 watt psu.

and do a separate 6 card build.

If you know you are not going to scale to say 20x 6 card rigs  and you may max  at 6 to 12 cards..

plus you have a 750 watt psu.   build a smaller rig first then  if you like mining go for a six card build if you dare.

there is a lot to be said about having 2 rigs vs 1 rig.

A 2 cards and a 4 card

or 2 card  three card rigs.

or a 3 card and a 6 card rig

@ stef stef   you don't want that  server psu on ebay.

you want a kit from finksy  here on this site.
26714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: March 13, 2017, 01:17:24 AM
Thanks the pandaminer  is allowing me to clock at 1 for undervolt.

I am mining zec with it.

All the undervolts  on  the 10 rigs  dropped me 1 amp at 240 volts

that is about 240 watts.

I really push my 2 cards rigs since they all were 4 card riser less rigs for the most part.

So they are all able to do higher intensity for eth + decred  I am doing

-ethi 10 -dcri 56  with no issues so far.  all of those rigs are at 2 for undervolt.

I may add some more gpus but I am done for the most part.  until the new models come out.
26715  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Having issues setting up an Avalon A7 on: March 13, 2017, 12:51:55 AM
Hi all,

Having major issues battling setting up my A7

Mainly due to assigning the controller an IP address, (and it keeping it) but thats not why I am here,

I have read somewhere for a Fix for Slush's pool??

Will my Avalon A7 work with slush's pool, right out of the box? or is major tinkering required.

Kind regards
Alex

Ps, I have set up plenty of Spindoolies and Antminers. but this one is testing me  Huh

it is very easy  lets try

can you sign on to the controller.

have you set a good static ip to it?

it starts with 192.168.0.100

preassigned .

so did you get a new ip and can you sign into the controller on the assigned ip
26716  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Newbie question of cloudmining on: March 13, 2017, 12:39:52 AM
Hello, super noob question: is it better to have a lot of Gh/s active on 1 website or fewer but spread around in many website. Aka better, say, 500 running in one place or 5 100's spread? Does it change the mining income/profit?

tough to answer.

I will try

HASHNEST is run by bitmain  it mines btc only  and basically it is the only trustworthy site to cloud mine btc

https://www.hashnest.com/

NICEHASH is a cloud mining rental site and you can rent from them and mine many different coins.

https://www.nicehash.com/

these two sites are just about all that I trust for cloudmining.

So to answer your question  as best I can there are only two sites you can trust  and you can only mine btc on one of them.

So mine btc on both sites if you want and mine other coins on nicehash

40 Rigs/ down with your new tool i can`t get them working anymore.

yeah i did that..

mine are all back up.

can you access the rigs?

I powered all of mine off.

turned on one and set new settings.

I have 9 rigs various gpus

I have  1 rig  pandaminer

I use 2 emails

all is well now.  took an hour to fix.

nine rigs most set to 2 for undervolt and stock core  stock me clocks

rig Philipma1957Asus3 is flakey just a bit

rig Philipma1957E  wants 3 for underplot not 2

this is my multi rig email my panda miner  email with 1 panda miner is a bit weird but pool side it hashs correctly.

okay I set all my rigs to underplot 3

i use 16 amps x 240 volts

setting 3 uses 16 amps

setting 2 uses 16 amps  which is due to   the pdu meter not more accurate the 1 amp.

I will do a better meter test.  later today.
