2681  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Unofficial BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: February 26, 2014, 07:38:40 AM
Interestingly to me you do sound very biased anyways. And you are not the only one who ordered asics before. Enough said.
Gonna call you on that one.  You don't sound like you have pre-ordered before.

List the ASIC pre-orders that you have had BEFORE Bitmine, or STFU.  I'll be calling for proof too (pics with you holding a piece of paper with your forum name in front of the miner or it didn't happen).

Grin ... come on you talk in this post mostly to people who are operating bigger thinks than Antminer & a KNC.

I will not say you how many TH I or user Tranquile (yes I know exactly) is running since a lot of monthes. If not having a 5 figure monthly energy bill I would simply be quiet.
And don`t forget nobody want hear anymore some people posting untrue stuff & lies here - for example as BFL is justify bitmines action. Or are they compensating you for that lovely postings?

Ok, boys, let's not eat each other. I think it fair to say that Gioriomassa's update was disheartening, at best, but then again the scuttlebut from the few that have gotten tracking or at least communication appears that they are at least making an effort. Stupid is better than criminal. I think.

At any rate, were it me, I'd lay back a little for the rest of the week to see what they do, meanwhile contacting lawyers etc. to explore my options in case they don't make it whole.

I agree that the "extra production line in parallel " is a pretty egregious breach of contract, but I do see a positive in it after they get the units out. They ain't gonna disassemble that line, so it'll speed things up in a few days. Or should. Of course what they should have done is just stuck with the queue AND expanded their production lines.

The first few pictures certainly look like they made a nice machine, and I sincerely hope y'all get them in short order, even though all this hashpower is gonna screw me!

Ah well, the days of the small timer are probably over anyway.

any news about shipping ?

next week like last week!

I think this qualifies as the quote of the week.

Biomech and tagore - you might want to try manual worker diff, looks like you're both getting lots of invalids using vardiff, manual diff seems to sort out these problems.

I switched back to Eligius for the time being. You had set it to diff 64, and as near as I could tell it made little difference. I'll try again once I get my Antminers. Then I can afford to lose a bit playing around.
2684  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 26, 2014, 03:16:43 AM

I've wondered the same thing since the deal went down. I was pretty neutral right from the beginning. I did jump a guy for yelling "scam" without any evidence, but he was yelling that in every thread regardless of merit. That's the only thing I can figure.

In my personal dealings with AMT, they were quite nice on the phone (well, Jim was, I never spoke with anyone else), but they got rather personal on the forum. That's unacceptable in my book, and I said so.

Then one day they say they picked me to get a miner and review it. I was blindsided, and no one in their right mind is gonna turn down free hashpower, so I took the deal. I've been up front about the whole thing. Why me, I don't know.

The box it arrived in was sealed with duct tape and random pieces of styrofoam, but well secured. It was a few days later than they said, but I figured I wasn't a high priority, given the nature of the deal. Later I find out that most other people who had PAID didn't get their miners or got them very late. I like the machine, but I feel used.

Oh well, live and learn I suppose.

Onward. Has ANYONE reading this got a tracking number on the Coincraft based miners? Even the low end ones?

Sounds like you were used, but at least you got something out of it. Better hold onto that miner, it might becomes a collectors edition over the course of the next month or two  Grin

How would you of liked to be the guy that paid cash for that same miner, only to hear someone else got one already for free for testing. Then you have to wait a few weeks to finally receive yours, past the original estimated shipping date.

*BUMP* On tracking information for coincraft miners... Please let us know!

I'm that guy, and it's pretty F'ing shitty.  but i'm not bitter.....

anyone want to buy a 80GH mining rig?  works fine, now that i fixed it.  =)

I here you. Was never my intent to screw anybody over. Might try Ebay' there seems to be a premium on miners there. Mine until ya sell it, then buy an Ant.
2685  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 26, 2014, 12:07:07 AM
Stan-o, I have the same unit as you, and other than the bad board, about the same experience (except costs, as they gave it to me to review). All I would add to that was that I left mine as configured, and haven't had any issues with heat. Well, I do run it without the cover. I think at half the price and half the delivery time, it'd still be worth buying, but I don't see those conditions coming to pass.

Let's not forget that you also got yours for free, whereas Stan had to shell out money for his.

Stan, the question is - If you were able to return that miner for a FULL refund, would you?

If yes, perhaps you should try. It sounds like you have great reasoning to demand one.

Thanks again for the in-depth review.

Of course. That was why I mentioned the cost. I was paid, in essence, whereas Stan-o pretty much got shafted by the delays. I'm not proud of that, nor saying it to rub things in. Just for full disclosure. I try to be very honest in everything I do. Had they followed through on their various promises, I would try to pimp this company. As it is, I have to recommend against them. Dammit.

It too bad AMT decided to conduct business this way.

I'm still wracking my brain as to why they'd send you one for free. I'm starting to think, like the other guy said; that it was to rouse up more investors when someone on this board posted that they were hashing with one of their miners.

Either way it looks like amateur hour in turns of how those earlier miners were built. Like two guys sitting there with a table full of random computer hardware, and somehow were able to turn out a few miners. Consistency was an afterthought; and if whoever shipped the miners actually waited to hit the bong after the miners were packed, maybe parts/cables wouldn't have been left out.

Biomech,

The antminers might not have a case but in my opinion they probably run a lot cooler and more efficient this way.

The computer cases aren't really necessary at all; most people run their mining hardware (boards) in milk crates or out in the open for optimal air flow.

True enough. IRL, most people who know me think it's weird that I build computers without "proper" casing, but it seems most bitcoiners are on the same page. I'm not used to being the "sane" actor Cheesy

Biomech-

for half the price, and on time delivery, you can get an antminer s1.  they lowered their price to 1.438 btc, which is $743 at btc price of $517.   and you get more than twice the hashing power.

the 3rd USB cable i added myself, is a bit long, so i had issues with getting it all stuff into the case without something hitting a fan.

did yours come with the proper cabling?  1usb to tplink power connector, 1 usb from tplink to usb hub, 1 from each board to the usb hub.  4 usb cables in all.  or did yours magically work with the 2nd board hooked to the power connection on the tplink controller?  lol  i think mine actually showed the board hooked to the power connection the very first time i turned it on, but only briefly, and never to been seen again in that configuration.

i never got both boards to hash at the same time until i hooked in the 4th usb cable(making both boards connected to the usb hub).

I never took it apart. Other than having to figure out the mining interface (which is straightforward for the most part), the thing just worked. It did ship without a power cable (which he told me in an email), but that was the only thing missing. I assume that it has the proper cables, as it has never given me a problem.

And yeah, I know about the antminers. They are likely my next purchase. But for the true beginner, at the above conditions, this would've been a good way to get your feet wet. The ants have everything sitting out in the open, which I can see a newbie killing either the machine or hisself that way Smiley

Funny, at the time these were announced, I didn't think Bitmain would be able to deliver, let alone become the "go to" company in bitcoin mining. My powers of prediction are not great.

Given that you can get an Ant within a week, I can't see any reason to invest in AMT at this time. I had really hoped they would get it together, be able to ship "in hand" units after the first round of pre-orders, and give Bitmain some serious competition. AMT has the better tech, if they got their shit wired. But 55nm today is better than 28nm "someday soon".

Also, when you contact Bitmain about anything, you get a quick response. Sometimes the use of english is a bit difficult, but they don't leave you waiting.

I stand by the machine. I like it, it works good, and it's quiet. I can't stand by the company, whatever my desire.

will i make $6000? for those of you confused out there.

If you actually get the machine, I think you will. Can't prove it, of course, but I suspect when the Gox thing gets resolved, the price will go way up. I've watched bitcoin for a couple years now, and it always seems to rally to about 150 percent of it's last high after a dive like this, then settle back down to a new, higher floor. It stayed stable at about 800 for quite a while, then tanked on the Gox fiasco. My prediction, for what it's worth, is the next "peak" will be around 1500. If I sell any in the next few weeks it'll just be to make ends meet. Mine and hold!

p.s. got your forwards.

Sorry, Jim and AMT, but this is unacceptable. You've asked me to be objective, and here's the objective tl:dr. I love the machine. But there should be hundreds of them out there, not a few. Your customer services is beyond abysmal. I cannot in good conscience endorse this company, even though they've been good to me personally. Sad

It's down for me too...  hopefully my shares ares still being accepted.  I'm not home now so I can't check.

The pool appears to be fine. It's just the stats page again. I'm connected and hashing away.
2692  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 25, 2014, 01:14:25 PM
will a 1.2TH machine make a ROI at this point?

No. In order to make a Return On Investment, it actually has to exist and be hashing.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=325710.0

The abuse of the term ROI is one of my pet peeves in this forum. Only in the Bitcoin world is it ever used to mean breakeven.

Well, I tried an alt-coin switching pool (tompool) and made less than half. Once again Eligius wins out.

While all the stuff about the payout system is interesting, it has been my real world experience that I make more coin here, even setting a 1 percent donation as automatic. I'll probably still play around some as I go, but at least for bitcoin, Eligius is by far the best pool I've tried. Second was BTCguild, and I make more here.

Yes its great pool, but despite we putting some donations its shame the greatest pool can't keep the stats working a week without a problem ...

Noted, but the coin flows even when the stats page is playing with itself. And it improves a bit every time, it seems. It does get annoying, but I keep coming back. Can't be that bad, apparently.

Biomech - sorry it didn't work out for you, what address did you mine under? Were you seeing lots of invalid shares or rejects?

cad_cdn - I'll look into merged mining at some stage, but I have to say I have no idea how to set it up.

Added the ability to change your TomCoin manual diff settings through the site, please see http://tomcoin.org/tomcoinsha.jsp and http://tomcoin.org/tomcoinscrypt.jsp for further details.
1K4hvSjT4vmr2Asyv6fKP1e4hvGe6f8Tta

There were more rejects than I ever get at Eligius, but not anywhere near 50 percent.

Also, even after switching over to the "set" 64 diff, the website continually showed 10-40 GH/s lower than what I was getting from CGminer. I'm used to about 2-3 percent variance, and it's on both sides of 80.

At least at present, it appears that your service is incompatible with the Technobit HEX16B module.

Well, that was a failed experiment. Nearly a full day mining to get .006 BTC, where I would have gotten around .012 on Eligius. Back I go.
2697  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: For the life of me I can't understand why people used Gox to begin with on: February 24, 2014, 02:48:38 PM
Bitstamp has been around since 2011, BTC-E and CampBX since 2011 as well just to name a few. No one woke up one day and realized Gox's problems, there was plenty of time to get out and go somewhere else but people kept buying.

What's with all these new people coming in?

If you want your Bitcoin to be worth anything in the future you better expect new blood.

Well said! This place can be hard on new guys. OTOH, there's some really interesting people here.

On topic, I never used Gox cuz I got involved in BTC about the time they started unravelling. I am a new guy, and I saw this coming a while back.

There is one upside though. When it all shakes out, bitcoin should rocket up a ways again. Ok, two. I'm pretty sure that even if they get it sorted, Gox is done.
