2681  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: January 19, 2023, 01:27:08 AM
I think there are several lessons here:
- there is not easy bet! even lower odds there is always a risk.
- it's really risky playing an huge amount. This not helps gambler because the risk is much much higher then rewards!
- gambling is not easy at all! it's really hard achieve a profit even for easy games!

what your opinion about this gambling issue? did you had experience similar experience? how a good gambler should avoid such mistakes?
I would add one more lesson:

- after all, sports betting isn't too different from casino's games. Wink

I'm not surprised by these news, because something similar has already happened to me when I lost 3 times in a row with odds of 1.01. The problem is that we think it's impossible to lose with such odds, especially in sequence, so we tend to increase the size of the bet a lot to make the profit worth. In the end we lose a lot of money in a single bet, while we could have used that sum to place lots of different smaller bets, having at least some extra entertainment for longer.
2682  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe 2023 betting. on: January 19, 2023, 12:54:47 AM
I don’t know who this year’s Miss Universe is, and definitely had no idea who it would be. However, after seeing the pageant’s new owner, I feel pretty safe in saying that next year’s winning won’t be a woman at all. I’d be willing to bet that next year’s winner will be a transvestite (is that still a word that’s acceptable to use?) male dressed as a woman. Is any platform letting you make that bet yet?
I don't doubt that could happen at some point, because in some regional and local competitions there are men participating among women. A big disrespect with women when organizers allow this anyway. However, it may take some years to be implemented in Miss Universe yet, because there are some ridiculous prohibitions to be extinguished first, like restricting age of models up to 28 years old. So, it would become even more bizarre if women above 28 years old couldn't compete, while men could. Unfortunatelly it's already a reality in sports betting, where there are men competing against women and having a huge advantage over them.
2683  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Hasbulla's NFT collection on: January 18, 2023, 11:40:37 PM
The dagestani celebrity known by millions of people for his toddler appearance and fights' videos is one of the adepts of NFTs. He has launched his own collection of 10,000 unique NFT cards portraying himself cartoonized in different remarkable characters of the media and history. His NFTs can be be found on Open Sea marketplace.

What Utility Does a Crypto Hasbulla NFT Have?

One of the major selling points of Crypto Hasbulla is its utility. Some of these include a chance to meet Hasbulla Magomedov virtually or in real life, Hasbi token airdrops after the 10K collection is sold out, access to semi-annual, real-life events, and a chance to earn a passive income by staking the NFTs. Holders will also get access to exclusive merch raffles, premiere combat sports events, and Hasbulla’s upcoming metaverse game. Crypto Hasbulla has also partnered with Barstool Sports and Eagle FC to offer holders a range of perks.

How Much is a Hasbulla NFT?

As previously mentioned, the Crypto Hasbulla NFTs are released in stages, with varying, pre-determined prices. Currently, the NFTs have a floor of 0.2 ETH or about $307 (at the time of writing). However, the rarer NFTs in the collection will cost you a higher amount.
The Story Behind Hasbulla Magomedov’s NFTs

Do you know Hasbulla Magomedov? What do you think about his NFT collection, does it have a future and is it ethical to use his image for that purpose?
2684  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: January 18, 2023, 08:11:45 PM
It is a nice thread to follow @uneng.
Actually, I have an account on Freebitco.in but I did not open it for a long time, I was sometimes busy and I was not able to collect the free sats given on the faucet. But now --my interest was back upon reading this thread.
So my question is --is that free spin automatically pop-up in your account daily? --like 13 free spins daily?
Yes, the spins automatically pop up in our accounts daily and get accumulated until you use them.

You can see them on the faucet's page, on the top, inside this yellow box:

Click the "Play them here!" link and roll all at once or one at a time.

Great topic uneng , I follow you from your begining. Thanks to you I bought 12500 FUN token , so I started investment experiment too. Only bad thing right now is that I bought token for 462500 and now they worth 400000 satoshi , so right now I'm -62500 satoshi  Undecided . I hope FUN token will rise just to get back what  I invest.
Thanks! As Bitcoin's price rises, FUN is likely to stay a little behind, because it doesn't rise on the same proportion of BTC, but if you compare FUN to Dollar currency you will see FUN's price is also getting more valuable anyway. In order to recover the sum of Bitcoin you firstly invested, Bitcoin has to crash a little bit, so for each FUN you have, it's likely you will earn more BTC on the sale's act, as FUN's price is more stable.

Like any cryptocurrency, it is an investment of risk! Don't put money here you can't afford to lose!

In my case, right now it would be a good idea to sell my FUN, so I could still profit 2 satoshis on each, besides profit made during the time period the investment has been going on. If FUN falls below 30 satoshis, I'm also going to be in partial loss, since I bought my tokens for 30 satoshis each. But that is a risk I'm going to take to continue this experiment until the end.
2685  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Excessive greed is detrimental to investment on: January 18, 2023, 07:59:03 PM
Yes but the chances are very small to get big profits so I don't think shitcoin is the right choice if you aim to make big profits,
investing in top coins certainly makes much more sense to make profits,
obviously it all depends on the decision of each.
Depending the price and lifespan of a shitcoin it might worth to invest some bucks on it for speculative purposes, although it must be clear that someone doing this isn't exactly investing, but gambling with his funds, because as you said the chances it's going to work are really low. I don't know if any shitcoins' enthusiasts have already calculated how much they have been profiting or losing on long term, but that would be an interesting data to have access, so we could check how profitable the strategy of investing in such tokens can be on long term.
2686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Elon Musk posted Santa Twitter Doge on Chrismast day? on: January 18, 2023, 07:41:41 PM
Christmas has passed and Elon Musk really doesn't tweet about Doge anymore, of course this is bad news for Doge holders,
I think Doge already has a very high ROI, even Elon Musk I'm sure already has more profit than Doge because Doge has become almost $1 because of him.
So forget about Elon Musk's tweets and just focus on technical analysis, surely you will be calm if you understand that.
That is the problem when the purpose of a cryptocurrency starts working solely around the idolatry of a market speculator. DOGE was a great classical crypto while it remained independent and part of the whole community of crypto enthusiasts, but once it became property of Elon Musk the scenario completely changed. Now DOGE fully relies on him shlling for it in order to survive and grow. In other words: Musk screwed up DOGE for his own personal benefit on short term, what must have been very profitable, but not likely to happen on the same intensity futurely, especially because now he is focused in another matters which don't involve cryptos.
2687  Economy / Speculation / Re: January bitcoin price out look on: January 18, 2023, 06:58:57 PM
Very strong action but as always the true strength is in the pullback occurring whenever that is.   Ideally price action should stay above the lows of 13th which could be a longer term show of support/resistance and then the 2 day is at 20k now.
I wont say the 200 day average doest matter but for now its more important we get a change in direction for that longer term show of inertia and have it together with the 50 day MA ascending back upwards.  [today its flat and 50 week in decline still]  If both these gains keep happening beyond just a brief spike of energy we'll be way more bullish.   We'll build volume and repair the prior weakness in trading.
Pullback is possible as the price is already oversold but it will just temporary since the market is going to pump already. Its good to see this price level again, and to OP you don’t need to wait for the month end because Bitcoin already hit your prediction. We might stay on this level for a while and once ok, the pump will start to happen again. Probably, $22k at the end of January is already a safe prediction.
Big pullback today from 21,400$ to 20,600$ in a matter of 1 hour, with slight recovery bringing BTC back to 20,900$ again at this moment. Compared to the previous correction 4 days ago which brought BTC to 20,299$, it's still good news to see the currently correction wasn't deeper than the previous one. However, by the end of the day charts must be watched, so we can conclude if this correction will have major impacts over investors' optimism today. Bitcoin has to maintain position above 20,000$, otherwise I fear we can return to 16,000$ or even less.
2688  Economy / Economics / Re: Brace yourselves, CBDCs one Step Closer on: January 18, 2023, 06:14:02 PM
He thus added that central bank digital currencies have “the potential to revolutionize global financial systems and may be the most significant technological advancement in the history of money.”
I think he is misunderstanding CBDCs with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is responsible for that significant technological advancement and revolution, not CBDCs.

Actually, aren't CBDCs the same of stablecoins, with the exception stablecoins are issued by private companies and CBDCs by governments? What do you think? If so, there is nothing inedit on this concept.
2689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of NFT on: January 18, 2023, 05:07:53 PM
First we would need to understand why people view scarcity valuable in anything culturally semi important, then turn that scarcity to digital scarcity and you have your answer.

But what do you mean by not being verified or protected? Their whole deal is selling collectables with an easy verification. That someone is stealing art is more of copyright issue, not the NFT issue.

Flipping physical collectables in ebay means you would need to be sure they are original, how are you going to do that? You need just trust the seller, you can't check the smart contract being correct one. Not to mention you would need a dry storage space to store them.

With nfts it's impossible to sell digital counterfeits that could be confused to be part of the original collection. You can sell copies for sure just like in ebay you can sell cheap chinese knock offs but no one wants to buy those and you could check them way more faster then physical copies.

I guess your question should be why price of altcoins is high as this is all about concept of digital scarcity.

Marketcap of BAYC is around 1 billion dollars while marketcap of doge is 11 Billion dollars. So maybe better question is why dogecoin has over 10x value to the biggest NFT collection out there. It doesn't even have links to pictures attached to the tokens Cheesy.
You mentioned the possibility of receiving counterfeit physical collectables, however they still aren't perfect copies, because some details from the original artpieces can't be reproduce, such as quality of the material, color tones and brightness when there are golden or silver details. So, the "smart contract" in this case are the physical characteristics of the product which can be evaluated by a specialist.

And to acquire that kind of collectable really makes sense, because it's a physical good, which shows physical differences between the copy and the original, while NFTs don't present any physical differences, if I take a print-screen of any of them and reproduce it in different places on the internet. I won't have the smart contract, but they will look exactly the same.
2690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs CBDC - Print your own stickers on: January 18, 2023, 04:49:18 PM
What can you do about this?
You can write your local politicians, complain, call them, visit them and demand from them to stop working on CBDC crap.
IU also found interesting project called @NoCBDC that created cool stickers that are pro Bitcoin and anti-CBDC in the same time.
You can print out this stickers, share them in your local areas, send them to friends and spread the word while we have time, or you will wake up in nightmare scenario one day.
Maybe this approach can work in civilized countries, but not on the generalized corrupt ones, that is the case where I live and as I see, CBDC is already in Proof of Concept stage here. Politicians rely on the ignorance of the citizens to pass laws they want which will favour them and their groups on long run, without any kind of uprisings from the people. The conscious minority who protests is just going to be ignored by politicians, since they don't really their votes to be elected. If the three powers (executive, legislative and judiciary) want to approve CBDC, they are going to do this here without any setbacks.

I hope in your countries you have more luck fighting it back.
2691  Other / Archival / Re: Mass adoption: Naming my child bitcoin on: January 18, 2023, 03:39:27 AM
Well, as people as already said this is not a good idea OP.
Not only because it is unnecessary and your child could end up changing their name when gets to adulthood and may even have a negative impact upon the father-child relationship.

Also, have not you thought that naming your child that way could also bring attention to your Bitcoin holdings?
Hehe... Imagine he naming his offspring Bitcoin, and everytime the kid is taken to government's institutions for different reasons along the life, public employees and authorities in general taking it with a big grain of salt, possibly going ahead and investigating further OP and his familly, in search for possible Bitcoin tracks. That is indeed not a good idea to name your child Bitcoin in a country where Bitcoin is illegal. It will surely attract a lot of undesirable attention, leading to negative consequences for him, as a BTC enthusiast and adopter.
2692  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: You Missed ETH, Missed BNB, Please Don't Miss RENEC Too on: January 18, 2023, 03:22:51 AM
I see scarcity is one of the main reasons presented to invest on this coin, since there is a limited supply of 75,000,000 of them, besides having a relatively long operating team in crypto market since 2015, which managed to build its own native blockchain.

When will it possible to acquire RENEC by purchasing it? I can only find people have access to it through mining at this moment, or is there any updates already?

I'm not sure if it's a good investment, but if the coin's price is cheap yet, it may worth risk acquiring some coins.
2693  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTC analysis today on: January 18, 2023, 12:42:08 AM
Crypto related content on youtube has been losing credibility with enthusiasts after many being scammed or lured into scams by coaches, experts, specialists and advisors, in exchange for comissions, which is quite common once youtubers gain notoriety with a decent number of subscribers on their channels and many views.

I hope this is not the case of OP and that he has genuine intentions when creating his content, but it would be great to talk about the stuff presented on the video with written words and images here, since we are at a Bitcoin forum, and not a videos' platform...
2694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto exchanges market affected by ICOs? on: January 18, 2023, 12:34:54 AM
ICOs were profitable for exchanges, due to investors and bounty hunters using them to trade the tokens from the ICOs' projects. At least, profitable on the peak of the popularity of such tokens. On the other hand, the impact right now is inexistent, since the hype finished and investors migrated to another niches of crypto market, like NFTs. If you are attempting to profit through ICOs, I believe you should not have many hopes on this matter. Better to focus in something else related to the currently trends of the market.
2695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin AI Generated Images on: January 17, 2023, 11:00:34 PM
There is one downside, however, that these computer-generated AI images extend not only to Bitcoin but also to real-life images as well. I remember that this website https://this-person-does-not-exist.com/en generates thousands of new faces that are currently being used by some ANN threads on their team member page.
Wow, so is this site the origin of the photographs used by altcoins' teams when launching their tokens? That always looked shady to me, but I never imagined those could be AI generated photos of fake people.

I'm testing it right now and the results really pass the same professionalism impression from those images posted in ANN threads. I could say many of the results presented are actually from real CEOs, marketing and Blockchain specialists. Cheesy

Appearances can be really deceiving. Wink
2696  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: January 17, 2023, 10:00:29 PM
okay I understand a bit now so the profit depends on how long we hold the FUN that will give us the advantage, I think we have to lock it for a certain time, thank you for explaining, I will add more FUN tokens to my account, hope they do too opening for other networks because the transaction fees from the binance exchange are quite expensive especially if I send a few every week it will cost a lot   Wink
Did you already start receiving your daily spin?

These are the premium program's benefits you have access by having FUN on your account for determined periods of time (doesn't necessarily need to lock, just to have the FUN in your account). On this example we can see the top tier (500,000 FUN) benefits:

I suggest you going to the website and checking the respective benefits for your currently held number of FUN tokens.

These are the rewards you will receive after locking your FUN for determined period of time:

On the example above, 10% APY (annual percentage yield) must be divided for 12 (months of the year) to reach the result of how much you are going to profit, so 10% of 500 FUN is 50 / 12 = 4 FUN profit after a month.

To maximize profits from premium program it's better to lock FUN as well simultaneously, so you earn from both sides.

Hey uneng, I didn't see your thread until now, just popping in to say "wow" what a commitment and good luck, I'm sure you're already way in profit now and with BTC recovering well, you could be looking at a great savings return.

Like you, I see FUN solely for the Premium benefits, I'm collecting spins myself on my second year, locking it simply to get the APY.

Good luck!!
Hey, @slaman29, thank you! Good to see freebitco.in's active users following the experiment. Let's see how much profit it's going to be made after one year holding FUN.
2697  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin AI Generated Images on: January 17, 2023, 09:39:15 PM
Wow, this is amazing, did you start selling it? Do you think it would be better to create NFT or to advertise BTC with those pictures?
No, I'm not selling it. I just create the images for fun and to illustrate posts about Bitcoin, somehow it works like a BTC advertisement. Some people already thought about earning money selling those generated images and launching NFT collections, but I'm not sure if others would have interest on it, since they can acquire the AI and start creating images by themselves. Copyright might be another issue, since we don't own those images as our properties, as far as I know. Anyone browsing on Discord MJ's channels can get an image you created for themselves and use it as they wish.
2698  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC bulls back? on: January 17, 2023, 12:39:08 PM
It takes longer to conclude if the bull is back. If Bitcoin continues behaving like it has been doing since days ago for a month, we will have a better comprehension of the market in the sense it's getting bullish again. However, if prices just stuck at currently range, it can't be considered the bearish tendency was totally reverted, even though it's a decent booster of confidence and optimism for investors to have BTC strong at 21,000$ zone.
2699  Other / Archival / Re: Mass adoption: Naming my child bitcoin on: January 17, 2023, 06:07:00 AM
There are many ways to create bitcoin awareness and interest from people in your area without using and compromising your child for that purpose. I wouldn't like if my parents named me Dollar, Euro, Yuan, Yen and so on... Probably nobody would like to.

Anyway, since Bitcoin is forbidden in your country, I think you won't be able to register your child with this name. A country which is so strict at the point of banning Bitcoin, must be also strict regards the names babies born there receive.
2700  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: January 17, 2023, 05:13:34 AM

Regardless where we live, money is our top priority in order to survive and thrive. Having enough money to fall back on means we are entitled to more choice and possibilities. Like it or not, we are chasing or being forced to chase money in most phases of our life. Financial freedom has been most people's ultimate goal for decades, if not for centuries. To achieve this goal, we will encounter endless challenges. Each of us has a unique life situation so what is your biggest obstacle to achieving it ? I know we can make a long list of problems but there must be one or two primary reasons that really hold you back. This is where we should focus and I would like to hear your story. Thanks.
Mine is combination of lifestyle and that i am neuroatypical, Weirdly i could have been rich ages ago even though i didn't have a job but i did't follow trough my plans of hodling or even getting out in time.  just kept my lavish lifestyle until i couldn't afford it. I had fun but i guess having financial freedom right now would make up that if didn't have fun and just saved my money.

But i have no regrets, i just hope i learned something. Regretting selling eth, bnb and bitcoin so early could drive me mad if i let it bother me.
You really shouldn't have any regrets regards this, otherwise you will consume yourself too much and become depressed. But hopefully you have learned you should act in a different manner from now on regards your economies, so you can still achieve your financial freedom, by being persistent and disciplined, if it's really your genuine goal. I think what could help us not falling for the temptations on the middle of the way towards financial freedom is to imagine how many things we could do frequently futurely with our money, once we reach the finish line, instead of doing it only once in the present moment and spending all the savings.
