2681  Other / Meta / Re: Why is this system not set up for the Bitcointalk forum? on: June 10, 2023, 06:33:13 PM
Forum accounts are regularly hacked and there are many stories of forum accounts being bought and sold. And these accounts are mostly sold by hackers. Those who hack accounts and sell them to someone for a low price. It is not possible to build a high ranking account in one night on this forum. So I don't think a person would be interested in selling an account after achieving a high rank. Because the high rank account of this forum has a value that cannot be compared with money. So why is the security of this forum not increased despite developing so much?

A very simple answer to your this question is that the forum is already secured to its best levels and hacking an account of this forum isn't an easy thing, but the users who have set weak passwords in first place and who hasn't hidden their email addresses might be vulnerable to brute force attacks. But, those kind of attacks can work on almost any forum or website and that depends on a user's technical knowledge during the time of new account registration.

Those accounts that are often sold by some newbie members are basically farmed accounts and they were farmed in those times when merit system wasn't implemented and any member could rank up in those days by just creating posts. The shit-posters were also able to rank up because only activity was needed to get higher ranks back then. That issue was resolved with the introduction of the merit system.

Quote

- Why is email confirmation not requested during account registration? I have checked that it is possible to open a forum account with an email address that does not exist or has not yet been created.
- Email OTP is not asked during password change. But why the OTP of the current email is not asked even when changing the account email address?
- There is a Secret Question facilities. which is work as a second password.  but anyone can remove it after logging in the account without giving any answer or verifying any OTP.
- Where all platforms have 2FA option for their users, why this forum has not put this option in the user account for security reasons.

I don't understand why this is not in this forum where everyone including the admin knows these things.  And since the forum was created almost 14 years ago, why has this not been done yet?  Is there any secret behind it?

The simple answer to all of your remaining questions is that the forum has a simplistic design and it works best in this way. Those users who aren't good at technology in first place are vulnerable because of their own fault and their other accounts can also be compromised because they might have used same password on multiple websites. The forum has high privacy and the morals are of very high levels. The forum was basically created to serve as an answer book for the users so they could share their ideas with each other.

That purpose is still being served even till this day, and this is the only forum that's still following the simplistic design and ease of use for its users. And, I don't think that adding all those additional features are needed to make the forum better because those features could make it hard for new users to create accounts in first place and that's not a good thing at all.

Why suddenly we find a new user start posting on this thread?

I did a few checks and I found those sudden members either belong to the Pakistan local board or the Bangladesh. IMO this thread is getting hacked by these guys.

Because of multiple scams from users associated with the new local boards, I think those who are active on this board should check before giving any merits. I am aware it is not an easy task.

My only intention was to prevent scammers from getting merits as this thread is one of the easiest way to gain merits.

I think you are overthinking in this regard because new users are also eligible to post on this thread and if a new user posts some valuable information then nothing is wrong with that. The sendable merits are in the hands of the user who possess those and they have the power and right to send those merits to even newbies.

The scams and scammers are everywhere and they aren't part of a local board, but even join those local boards for the same purpose. Do you think that such users are honest with their respected local board threads?

I don't think that those scammers are even generous with those local threads and they join those threads only for the same purpose as for which they post here. And, it's literally impossible to consider someone scammer until their scamming activity is found and reported by users.

2683  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam targeting Metamask wallet user's on: June 10, 2023, 03:18:49 PM

If you read the OP correctly, you will understand that it's an already-known fact. I never said Metamask requires email to create a wallet; in fact, there are never any personal details needed for you to have a Metamask wallet. It's just a question directed at the scammer's way of thinking: do they actually think anyone who is familiar with how the system works will fall victim to such an easily identifiable scam?

I have read it carefully before posting the reply and that was my response in such situation. I also never mentioned that it was you who said Metamask requires e-mail for creating wallet, but it is my way of replying to a question. My whole reply was to show that how those malicious hackers are using the name of Metamask to create panic in the mind of the users in order to steal their secret key. I think they might sent such mail to a list of users not only you, and many of those users might have shared their secret keys on that site of the malicious actors. You were technically good and were aware of such things so you protected yourself from their trap, and shared the thing with the users to promote awareness regarding such scams.

Blocking the sender's email is not actually the real solution to this; it will only restrict the sender from sending you mail from that mail box, but other mails can still be created. Aside from that, you never know where they got your email from, so the best solution is either to ignore the mail completely or to create a new email, which is what I have done since the mail is not even associated with any of my important stuff online.

Well, you have taken the right step by creating a new e-mail account for yourself. However, there are some users who basically register with their single e-mail account on many websites and in that case the better option is to just block those senders and even if they try sending you the mail from multiple accounts, it's better to block all of those accounts. I personally use my main e-mail to register on many sites and I have seen such e-mails many times, I blocked most of the senders who sent such e-mails and now there aren't any such mails coming on my e-mail account. I would also say that if someone can create a new account then that's the best solution to get rid of such fraudsters, but if it's not possible for a person to change the e-mail account then the best option is to block the sender or senders if they are using more than one account for sending such mails.

With time UAE will develop and improve too this is a gradual process, west indies is an old and experienced team and they have been on top of charts some years ago. Still they have some world best players playing in different leagues.

The amazing West Indies 3 match winning streak demonstrates their exceptional talent and cohesiveness as a team. Even though UAE had difficulties particularly with their batting and lack of experience there is still room for development. Even though the UAE bowling effort wasn't as good as it could have been the team can still learn a lot from it. West Indies once again demonstrated their superiority although UAE can improve their prospects if they gain more field experience and concentrate on keeping wickets in hand. UAE has the capacity to score a lot of points and make the match a thrilling closely fought match with a tactical approach.

The West Indies team is really at another level and a team like UAE can't stand a chance in front of them. I  thought that the West Indies allowed them to play the game just for the purpose of some exposure otherwise they would easily take wickets of the UAE team. The UAE team needs to work more harder in order to win against a team like West Indies, although they have some good players both batsmen and bowlers in their team, but it is a fact that in cricket the whole team has to show good performance in order to win.

I already predicted that West Indies team will most probably lose the final match of ODI and the prediction was right. I still believe that UAE team can improve their performance for next matches so that in next season they might play well against stronger teams. They really have the potential to do more runs if they work harder on ground. And, if the government supports them with high incentives then that may invoke some higher performance potential in the spirit of the team. Let's hope for their better matches in future.
2685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: June 10, 2023, 11:39:32 AM
It is a matter of time before they can implement an AI that beats all human poker Players, it is very logical, the AI saves all the possible plays, and the best ones to have the Perfect game, it is very Difficult to fight against a robot that it has so much and also currency which is the best move to win, while one as a human being can be wrong in each play, that is the difference, I See that as an advantage over the human , I do not see something that is fair , it is a fight not very loyal , all the study that we could give us would be of no use.
I disagree with you in this matter because even if AI gets way smart than humans in poker but it won't be able to win the human players. Poker is a game that's played with different strategies by looking at ones cards, and the AI can't compete against humans in this particular game. A poker player views his/her cards first and if the cards are good enough then he/she continues calling the others blinds or raises the money to cause panic in hearts of other users, and if cards aren't powerful then the user just folds and let others play the game. An AI with all strategies still won't be able to compete or win humans, and they might try to raise in order to cause panic in the mind of the humans and on the other hand the human player has got good cards, the bot will lose a lot by doing that.

I think that AI can be competitive in future and might give huge panic to human players, but the professional players will still beat the AI particularly in poker. While in other casino games the AI could have upper hand most of the times and may win human players almost every turn.
Emotions and feelings are something that cannot be programmed or developed by anyone except the one who created the whole universe, it is not something that humans can do in the first place, and that will probably be the only department where AI cannot beat a human, a human can read faces, understand feelings, catch emotions of the person in front of them, and an AI can do none of that no matter how good it is.

So, an AI model playing poker among humans will be totally lost even if it has been programmed so well to deal with the cards and everything, it will still get confused in the long run because humans will use their brains and emotions and everything which the AI cannot detect.

I agree with you in that statement, and I also believe that even if an AI learns 100x from their current level of understanding they still won't be able to compete with humans when it comes to emotions. I'm sure that an AI could mimic and learn logical things but when it comes to emotions it will just act like a puppet and fail in that race. Only humans could feel the minds and emotions of other humans and that skill takes time to develop. It may require 100's of years for an AI to learn even simple emotions because a Robot could learn the moves but learning of emotions isn't a move and can't be learned to an AI.

In the game of Poker humans use their emotional intelligence to win others and sometimes the players have to play with the emotions of other players by bluffing the cards in order to create fear in the minds of the other players who despite having way powerful cards may fold just because of the fear of losing the hand. Poker is a very tricky game and even a user with two Aces could lose if the cards of the table aren't in their favor. The game can't be mastered only because someone is more intelligent than others but it requires some emotional touch as well. I'm quite sure that the AI will fail more than 99% when it comes to emotions and the humans will still beat it out easily.
2686  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: June 10, 2023, 11:26:29 AM
To convince myself to keep HODLing during "testy" market moments is to keep telling myself that the Bitcoins I HODL in cold storage is a kind of time deposit placed in a secret Swiss banking account that cannot be touched until the right moment. That moment is when it's trading in a six digit price valuation+. That's why I don't have the same complaints when fees surge, because as a "secret Swiss banking account", you don't use it to pay for coffee transactions. I believe many of you don't want to be like the Bitcoin Pizza Guy. That was probably the worst trading decision of his life.

I agree with you and yes in the current condition of the market a Hodler doesn't have to fear at all because our main goal is to Hodl for a long time so that we can live a happy life after retirement. I don't think that 6 digit is enough to accomplish that dream of complete financial freedom. I personally know a person who bought Bitcoin when its price was over $60k, and the guy is still Hodling it in the hope of huge gains after the halving, but the true hodlers doesn't even care about the halving because they just buy it in the dips and Hodl for decades to come.

I think someone who really wants to gain good returns from Bitcoin investment should Hodl it for more than a decade in current price range. And, even I personally know people who believe to Hodl their investment until they are over the age of 50. They are currently young and they are in age range of 28-31 years right now. So, it's more than two decades for them to reach that age, and I believe that they will be among the luckiest investors at that age. I'm sure that Bitcoin can grow very high in value after a decade or two and the ones who invest in it now could be very profitable after those decades.

It's no less than a inspiration that Satoshi himself is Hodling more than $1 million Bitcoin and I'm sure that the inventor of Bitcoin is already above 50 in age. But, I personally believe that one should only buy Bitcoin when the price is dipped, because that way an investor could accumulate more Bitcoin over time and the final exchange rate could make his/her life financially stable for rest of the life.

It's a investment that only intelligent people can understand and they are the ones who will be free from financial problem in old age. In young age it isn't hard to earn huge sums of money but as we age we might not have that much stamina and energy to work and earn, and that's why investing in young age is the best form of security for a peaceful, happy, and financially stable life in old age.
2687  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam targeting Metamask wallet user's on: June 10, 2023, 10:59:40 AM
I just got a message from some scammer claiming to be Metamask with the statement that my Metamask wallet needs an upgrade.
Some questions just bomb into my head.

How ??
How can Metamask need an upgrade that requires them to send me a message?
How does Metamask even get in touch with my email?
Or do the scammers think users need to create an account with Metamask before they can use it? Or maybe Metamask looks like a centralized exchange for them, or they don't actually know how the blockchain system works. I overlooked the message the first time, and I still got it on my second email.

That message is not from Metamask and in fact Metamask doesn't send its users any emails for their accounts. When someone creates a Metamask account the user only have to create a secure password and then they will get 12 seed words secret key that they have to hide from others.

In the whole process there isn't any involvement of e-mail and the fearful thing is that the impostors are trying to show that they are Metamask team and they're trying to create fear in the minds of users so a user may click the provided link and enter his/her details in order to secure their wallet account.

That's a phishing a attack and in this case someone with malicious intent has got your e-mail address and is now trying to get it compromised with the help of social engineering attacks. The best way to avoid such e-mails is to block the sender and do nothing else to be on the safe side. I recommend you to never click such link because they might have access to some vulnerabilities of your Operating system or other applications that when altered could grant them permissions manipulate your device with code execution.

Mr Diniar, after reading your post I just realized that how a person can change his mind when the power comes in his hands. The guy that became president did a very wrong act by forgetting the favor that the supporters have done for him, and your idea of implementing Bitcoin was a really good thing but the politicians are always like that and they don't allow anything to be a reality which can harm their current system.

The democracy gets affected by such politicians because they know that a technology like blockchain could make the elections transparent and with transparent elections only the real politicians with huge vote bank gets elected as president or prime  minister. I hope that people may respect your opinion regarding implementing blockchain into the election systems.

For your own safety it's better that you should not oppose the guy directly because in such cases you might be against the state where you are living and that could create more problems in your life. I recommend you to wait for the proper time to take further actions in order to accomplish your goal of fair elections with the help of blockchain.

For those who are interested in geopolitics..quite a sobering read:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2023/06/09/america-weapons-china-00100373

My hope remains that it would not come to blows...or my upcoming (in a few years) retirement would be utterly ruined.
The question is, though, why the f-k did we de-industrialize to the extent that we did?

I am 66 the wife is 67.

Lucky for us all the kids died via miscarriages. So I have zero issues of worry for my descendants.

If that's true than I'm very sorry to hear about the losses. I wish that you and your wife live happily as husband and wife. Haven't you thought about adopting a kid?
2690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 09, 2023, 03:51:21 PM
Today is the third match of the ODI series between West Indies and UAE. In today's match, UAE won the toss and batting first. United Arab Emirates opened the batting so far in 15.1 overs and collected 111 runs for the loss of two wickets. How well UAE will perform in today's match is still uncertain. But I think if the United Arab Emirates. Can finish the 50 over game holding their wickets. Then maybe West Indies can give the cricket team a big target. Today's match is not important for West Indies. Because West Indies won the first and second match against UAE to secure the series win

UAE team scored 184 runs in this match and now West Indies is playing their turn. I'm sure that they will easily cross that score without any issue and UAE team won't survive against West Indies team at least this time. The match was going smooth, but after 180 runs the UAE team wasn't able to play well against West Indies bowlers and they have lost more than four wickets for scoring 4 runs only.

This match is an easy win for West indies team and the probability for West Indies team to win this match is above 90% this time. The man of the match from UAE side in this match was Vriitya Aravind he scored 70 runs in 75 balls. West Indies has already made more than 35 runs in just 3 overs.

'Member these winners from Apple that nobody bought?

Dude, that company has a 2.85 tril market cap.
Obviously, it had something that people wanted.
Jeez....I just go with what I want with price considerations being secondary....never bought a pro tower, though....no need.
Additionally, their hardware lasts (typically).

EDIT: It's an interesting philosophical question. Why people buy $5-6 coffee at starbucks when they can make as good a coffee at home for maybe 30c a cup? Is it habit or a need to socialize with others who are maybe "well off". I was reading an article about designer clothes and bags in particular. It said that you can easily distinguish between a $100 and $3000 bag, but only people rich enough to buy $40 thou bags can distinguish between those and 3K bags. Same with watches. Some watches are to measure time or for decoration, but there are some that are just a status symbol. There are watches that cost multiple millions. It's strange, from my perspective, but if you are making hundreds of millions, if not billions every year, then what to spend (waste) it all on? Not every one of them could have a sports team.

I agree with you buddy! I'm also among those people who bought an iPhone and an iPad from that company, and I must say that their products are long lasting and are of really high quality. I still use the iPhone on daily basis and use iPad when I need that. It depends on a person's own choice and if their own desire to spend money on a product or something else. Although, I'm not interested in this "Apple Vision Pro," but "Apple" as a company has created some really useful devices and I appreciate that.
2692  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 3068 Trades Won and only 1 Trade Lost on: June 09, 2023, 09:40:22 AM
Hi on the Bingx copytrading platform there is a trader with 3068 trades won and only 1 trade lost. He only trades long and with only x2 leverage.

Does anyone know what strategy he uses and why he only trades long and how he gets those results? I understand he uses a bot?

That trader is surely doing something fishy and keeping the ones in dark who are copying his trades. There isn't a strategy to win all of the time in the world of crypto-trading. Even if someone is expert in technical analysis he/she still has to face some looses once in a while, and that's enough to prove that strategies aren't always profitable and the market changes could destroy them.

In the world of crypto-trading news media and other huge whales have enough power to change the condition of the market and if someone is constantly getting profitable trades then that trader will never ever share his trades and his open positions with anyone. Why would someone allow others to copy him if he is making millions per trade? I don't think that anyone would do that and that's why you should be careful when you are copying the trades of a user whom you don't know personally.

Instead of following him and copying his trades why don't you learn trading yourself so that even if a trade doesn't work, you can still protect yourself from huge losses. I recommend you to learn trading as a beginner and only trade with short amount of money in initial stages of learning. After experiencing the trading you'll learn a lot about it in some time and may earn good income from trading.

United Arab Emirates vs West Indies
Today is the third match of West Indies vs UAE series. West Indies have won both the last two matches. West Indies won the series by winning two matches. UAE will be whitewashed if West Indies win today's match. I think West Indies will win today's match. Because West Indies have performed well and won the last two matches. UAE failed to score 250+ in last two matches. UAE scored only 206 in the first match and 228 in the second.

The odds are in favor of West Indies once again because their players had shown great performance in last two matches. The West Indies team won the second ODI with a rouge performance and won the match by 78 runs. The only player who has shown great performance from UAE side in past matches was Ali Naseer, and he truly deserves the respect. However, the other players were not doing too good in order to win the match, the West Indies team is more experienced and has good batsmen like Brandon King, and Johnson Charles who can easily make great scores against UAE team.

I don't think that UAE team stands a single chance against West Indies team even in the 3rd ODI match. West Indies will easily overpower UAE's team and only Ali Naseer won't be able to own victory for the team. Let's see what will happen in this match. I'm sure this match will be really entertaining for the viewers and we may be wrong with our predictions if UAE team somehow win this match.

I wonder what this means for the gambling industry, the gambling experience, and gambling addiction. I would like us to discuss this topic. Gambling with this device would make it feel like you are in a casino. I am pretty sure the experience would be out of this world - the visuals, the sounds, the overall feel. On the other hand, it seems that it could be easy for a gambler to lose track of time while using the device because the immersive experience might make it difficult to see or be aware of the time, leading to a potential increase in gambling addiction. The odds against the player won't change, only the experience. Please share your thoughts on this matter.

It won't impact online gambling at all because it currently has no support for gambling applications and the gambling Casinos have to create separate applications that support the functionalities of the device. In order to create those applications they might have to spend millions of dollars for the purpose and still most of the gamblers won't buy the device because it offers 2 hours of battery backup and has a cost of 3500$ or even more if you add taxes and delivery charges. It won't be able to compete against the other devices when it comes to eyes safely because this thing can damage your eyes if someone uses it for long term and the user can't even wear blue-light blocking glasses during its use.
2696  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CBDC competing with bitcoin on: June 09, 2023, 04:33:50 AM
Having a central bank digital currencies still does not change anything because the system still remains the same, central bank digital currencies (CBDC) is controlled by the government and this same system can be manipulated. Central bank digital currencies is a financial structure that is based on debt.

The new innovation by the government is a way to imitate bitcoin but still not up to the standards of bitcoin which is a decentralised currency. CBDC is nothing different from an online banking, I'm sure the reason for central bank digital currencies is to stop to stop people from adopting bitcoin.
Central Bank digital currencies can never be a limitation to the growth of bitcoin, bitcoin possess that special uniqueness that no currency can be in a competition with. Central Bank digital currencies was made because of hatred to be like bitcoin.

I think the CBDC's are going to change the world of crypto-currencies and I fear that because of their promotion governments could create far more restrictions and way tough regulations on Bitcoin and the exchanges that support Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies. The CBDC's are created with that intention only and the banks will get quite a huge number of investors with the help of CBDC than with current fiat system. The CBDC's won't be as volatile as Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies and may remain stable even if the market gets a crash.

The only draw back of CBDC's is that anything you do with those you will have to first purchase them from a retailor or a bank and then you'll be able to do anything with those. The main agenda of Decentralization was to stop those banks from interfering with our finances, and with CBDC's that idea is totally drown into water. They will operate just like Fiat but in crypto-currency form, and they might create huge risks for current Stable-coins of the crypto-ecosystem.
2697  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Magazine Doesn't Limit to 1 Acct Per IP Address? on: June 09, 2023, 04:22:54 AM

Bitcoin Magazine is one of the original news and print magazine publishers covering Bitcoin and digital currencies. You can earn sats by Flash Fridays (at least 200 sats) and Daily read (50 sats)

Why you are wasting your precious time for that less amount of Satoshi? Even if you have 100 accounts you won't be able to make enough from those and one day when they catch you, they will ban all of your accounts and blacklist your IP address and subnet. It isn't good to get such penalty for that low amount of Satoshi. I recommend you to learn a proper skill and then prove your services to earn far more than that from this forum or from any freelancing site. That way you won't get ban or blacklisted but earn substantial income by proving services.

Although, there isn't much evidence against him other than that tweet but still that guy can do that because he's going to take even more harsh actions against Binance and Coinbase. The guy is a dangerous person for centralized exchanges, I think he loves decentralized exchanges! If that's true then he's welcomed in the team! Just joking, he's not going to let those exchanges and he will make them bend to their knees.

In following that logic, we never know how casino will react once AI was being implemented or being used I see your point that they might restrict or possible to ban you if they are not willing to embrace such a system being used to their house, knowing how casino making money out from the gamblers, they will not just allow anyone to have that edge in winning against them.

Just an opinion though, as we don't know if what and how casino will adopt in case AI knowledge will be used.
Of course, the casino will not allow gamblers always to win more than the casino, so the casino might use AI to hold back the gamblers' wins. But I don't know, at least I agree with you in that we don't know if and how the casino will act in the future because it may not have happened right now or it has. What is clear, this will be even more interesting to follow, especially if we can try to use AI to gamble to see the casino's reaction. Maybe for a while, casinos will ban the use of AI until the casinos can find a way to win from gamblers who use AI.

We can agree on that, casino will find ways and they will continue to let gamblers to use whatever they want trying to take some edge, but more so with the house owners they will also bring something inside the system that can counter those AI and allow them to continue business, at some point they will embrace how the technology are bringing them, it's just a matter of time as we will see how both gamblers and casino owners will take AIs from this industry.

If you think that a ban should be ended, make your case in a new topic from a "good for the forum as a whole" perspective.

Have mercy everyone. Please it will never happen and repeat itself again. Please I am on my knees. I use the Almighty God (Jesus Christ) to beg everyone. My fellow Christ and Muslim, and other Religions Brothers and Sisters please! Please!! Please!!! have mercy and forgive me as the Holy Bible and Qur'an also forgive Sins. It will never happen again. 🙏🙏🙏

First of all you have broken the rules of the forum, and then you did an appeal post for in a way that people should think you were banned because of someone's mistake or someone has just reported you because you have done a mistake. I don't have any words to say about you because you have done a really low level act by just copying others ideas and pasting those with changed words with the help of paraphrasing. I don't think that a good and honest member ever thinks about doing such act.

Now you are trying to bring religion on your behalf and asking mercy for your act. I don't think that you will get unbanned by bring religion and other sects and creeds in your behalf in a ban application. Every user of the forum is empathic enough to forgive those who have been banned mistakenly or by unconsciously breaking a rules that lead to the ban. However, in your case it's crystal clear that you were doing the act consciously and you were happy because you got some money from signature campaigns by paraphrasing other users work.

Finally, I don't think that you can be unbanned because your act isn't accepted here and you played with the goodness of the campaign managers who trusted you by giving you the opportunity to earn an extra income from your contributions to the forum. However, they weren't sure that you were taking advantage of their kindness. I feel piety for you my friend and recommend you to change yourself and not to take advantage of those who allow you to earn bread and butter for your work.
